I'm so blessed to be part of the 9Round community! Dave and all of the other trainers here are so kind, so good at what they do and SO supportive. During my first year working out here, I focused on my mental health. What a difference a year makes! 9Round has become the thing that pulls me through hard days - just being part of the beautiful, diverse community of people who come here and getting the encouragement and support from Dave and the crew has meant everything. Now I'm more focused on my physical... and damn does Dave push me in the best ways! I'm down 15 lbs. and feeling so confident and strong. Started a few months ago and loving this workout. Reasons: 1) It’s efficient. Drop in any time and only 30 mins. 2) Variety. There are 9 different workout stations and workout changes daily. 3) You get to spar with trainers. Plus plenty of bag punching and kicking. 4) Dave (owner) and trainers are very supportive and push you just the right amount. Def recommend trying the free first class. Only request is to turn up the AC a bit.

I went for my first free class with a co-worker. I knew from the first punch that I was going back. What I didn't expect was the attention to detail the owner gives to everyone. He listened to my personal goals and physical issues. The first time in years I've broken a weight plateau. The motivation from the team, even on my hardest days, has been amazing. The encouraging text messages don't hurt either. "...You have to put yourself first." Everyday, I may start over, but every time I show up, I know I'm going to be greeted with a warm smile and encouragement for a minimum of 30 mins. That's priceless!

I REALLY LIKE this place! I was looking for a gym near my house and I found out here. I was really curious if work out for 30 mins would be enough, but yeah def worked it. Dave is really nice and professional coach! I do reccomend for people who looking for gym for sure :) My arms and legs were in so much pain because it had been a while since I had exercised. I have been going to 9rounds on Telegraph for about 1.5years. A couple years ago I was looking for a personal trainer but knew it might not be sustainable for the long term. I found 9rounds had a free first session and was hooked. The 30minute work out available all morning or afternoon is perfect for my busy schedule, the one on one support to push through is amazing, the community / staff are so fun, and doing a weekly concentrated workout has been a life change. Before I started I could not even hold one push up, now I’m doing multiple burbies, feel stronger than ever and love my body. The routine work out is for all ages and levels and I love the adaptive ability of the work out. I even had shoulder issues when first started that I thought might get agitated by boxing, but the absolute opposite happened, I was able to build muscle in different areas to support the part of my shoulder that was week. Now I do not dread my work out but look forward to every time I show up. They give a first trial free so why not just try it out!

I'm pretty fit and athletic and yet, the 9Roundworkouts really make me sweat! I work hard and see results. The facility is clean and well setup. The owner and trainers are great. I'm able to pack a varied workout into 30 minutes and I can tell it's making a difference in my strength and endurance. I also like the vibe, which is positive, inclusive, community-oriented, and diverse. I highly recommend you give it a try.

I have been to many gyms in my life and have had 3 other personal trainers, and 9Round with Dave and Ovi is hands-down the best I have ever been to! I usually have a hard time motivating myself to go to the gym but I look forward to my 9Round workouts every week. When you enter, everyone greets you warmly. While you work out, trainers and other gym-goers cheer you on and motivate you. When you leave, you're congratulated on a great workout and walk out of the door with a smile on your face. It truly is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Be ready to work, though! 9Round provides a high intensity, full body workout. They also offer body mapping and consultation, which has helped me orient my workout and weight loss goals. Love the workout and the coaches! So glad they're in the neighborhood. They foster a positive, inclusive community--and kicking and punching those bags has kept me sane, as well as healthy. I love 9Round Temescal! I've been working out here since before the pandemic. This is a fun, effective workout with excellent trainers, clean facilities, and a really friendly vibe. This is an accepting and diverse space, too, with women, POC, and old white dudes like me in the mix. Dave, the owner, is very conscientious and super careful about the trainers he hires. The staff is awesome! Can't recommend this place enough!

I love this 9Round! The trainers are great - extremely friendly and attentive and great at pushing you just the right amount. I was definitely nervous joining because I've never kickboxed or done anything similar before, but they walk you through the moves each time (and continue to do so with the same level of care after the orientation session) so that everything is really clear. And I really underestimated how fun and motivating these workouts would be! It really feels like building a skill and I look forward to the classes so much more than I ever did with previous workouts. I've been coming consistently for 8 months now, which feels like a huge accomplishment after I struggled so much to get back into exercise after seriously falling off during the Covid-19 years. I honestly feel so much healthier and stronger than I have in years (plus I've dropped a pant size, though strength building was my main goal).
Other things to note - the flexible class structure is amazing and allows you to drop in anytime. I love this because I have an unpredictable work schedule so signing up for classes is a nightmare for me. The membership is pricy, but you really do get what you pay for. The hours are a little limited, but that hasn't been a major issue for me either. It's also worth noting that there is no "free" equipment - there are the 9 stations, which each have their own equipment set up. If they aren't too busy and the equipment isn't being used, you're welcome to re-do a station or use the equipment there for additional exercises, which I see people do on occasion. The workouts are friendly for people of all sizes, ages, fitness levels, genders, etc. If you're low impact or recovering from an injury, just let a trainer know and they are honestly so great about offering alterative exercises catered to your needs, which is just another thing I love about this place. Also, if you're super self-conscious about working out (like me) I actually find 9Round to be better than a typical gym, even though it's more close-quarters, because aside from trainers everyone is completely absorbed in their own workouts. There's no down time so nobody even notices if you miss the bag on a punch or lose your balance on a kick. And if you're looking lost at a station, a trainer will come over to help almost immediately.
I could rant about how great this place is all day, but hopefully you get the picture. If you want a great, fun workout that actually motivates you to keep coming back, and you're okay with a larger price tag, then you should honestly join 9Round, or at least try the intro class!

I love coming here because of the trainers, the inclusivity and diversity, it’s family friendly and the drop in schedule is helpful for anyone who needs flexibility in getting to the gym. I also appreciate the skills each trainer brings. Many, if not all, have training in either lifting, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai and can provide insights on technique and form. One of their trainers, Ovi, was selected as trainer of the year in 2021. The trainers are also great at modifying workouts to accommodate various accessibility needs and skill levels. I came in with a knee injury and Dave, the owner, made sure I had a good work out without compromising my knee.
Also, if you like data and tracking calories burned, the pulse program is great. The work out is a great mix of kickboxing, striking and HIIT.

I love 9Round Telegraph. It is fantastic to workout and have a great time simultaneously. I love that I can arrive when it works into my morning. Plus, everyday the workout is different. Dave and his trainers are supportive, encouraging and all around great people. I never thought that a gym could be so much fun while getting a great workout. There is no age or body shaming going on here. I am a 68 year old woman and have been working out here for almost 2 years. I have never felt better.

I love 9round. I get in and out in 45 minutes maximum, and I always get my butt kicked. I'm a former collegiate athlete so I appreciate the intensity of the workout. Yes, it's circuit training, but it's different every day, and the trainers and supportive of everybody. I took my mom to a class and she loved it, and even though she hadn't worked out in a long time, she was challenged just the right amount without being scared away. As a woman, sometimes going to the gym can be intimidating, but the studio is super woman-friendly and nonjudgmental of people (no matter your background, shape, identity, etc). 10/10 would recommend.

If you're the type of person who gets overwhelmed walking into a gym and trying to figure out what to do or maybe doesn't really like to workout but knows they need to build a healthier lifestyle, 9round is a fantastic alternative to your typical gym (plenty of very athletic people here too, but speaking from my own experience). I can't say enough good things about the owner Dave and his team of trainers at 9Round Telegraph. I've been a member for years, but over the last year in particular, Dave, Ovi and the rest of the team have helped me really invest in myself in a sustainable way. They have a fantastic attitude, always encouraging but not taking any of your excuses, and if you commit to the process, they'll commit to you. They'll check in on you if you've been gone too long, talk about how to build healthy habits at home and outside the gym to help solidify your progress, and know exactly when to push you harder and when you need to give yourself a break.
The workout itself is straight forward, 9 rounds 3 min each, with a 30 sec active rest between, HIIT style. There are always 1-2 trainers on the floor (which is plenty to give attention to all 9 people at the rounds) who'll walk you through the exercises and the challenge level is based on your effort. The other members are friendly and the environment is judgement free.
They also offer tons of hands on training - I'm regularly there past the allotted 30 min workout session, with Dave, Ovi, and all the other trainers chipping in on some personal training and with their support, I feel stronger and better than I have in years. I love this experience so much that I made staying local to this gym one of my non-negotiables when looking for a new home!

No matter what kind of shape you are in, Dave and his trainers will tailor the workout for you! There are members at ALL skill levels and everyone is super welcoming & supportive of each other.
The trainers are super supportive and knowledgeable. I love that this team has improved my form and pushed my limits. My cardio and strength have both made huge progress - shoutout to Dave, OV, and Thaddeus for challenging me week over week! They also offer diet/nutritional coaching for anyone interested.
The members, the staff and the equipment are all well cared for. Incredible environment that Dave has built here. This is the most fun fitness routine I’ve had in a long time!

Work out at any time! The fact that I don't need to schedule or rush to arrive at a specific time makes getting the workout in, so much easier (and less stressful).
I've been going for about a month now, and it's the funnest, sweatiest workout "class" I've tried. I put "class" in quotes because it's really more of a session, you can drop in any time during opening hours and do the workout, which changes daily. It's 9 rounds (thus the name), with different workouts at each station that lasts for 3 minutes each, plus 30 second active rest between. So even if it's packed (very rare), you'll only have to wait 3 minutes to start. It's exactly 30 minutes and is totally full body - my favorite station is the combo practice with a coach where they hold pads and practice punch/kick sets.
The owner, Dave, is the nicest guy - truly passionate about fitness and health. He wanted to open the studio in honor of his eldest son, who sadly passed, from cancer. Dave and the trainers are all super helpful, can tailor the workout to your limits, and always have a supportive cheer.
Anyways, if you work from home, or have an unpredictable schedule, the work-out-anytime, no set class time is a game changer. And if you're thinking of stepping your fitness game up, let's keep this local business, in business!

My boyfriend and I purchased memberships in January 2022. We have been coming regularly three times each week for the past six months. I have low-moderate fitness - I am not terribly out of shape, but not fit, either. We are in our 50's. 9Round is worth every penny! I LOVE LOVE 9Round because
1) I get both a strength and cardio workout at the same time
2) I get to do a different workout each time (if you are like me and the idea of figuring out what exercises to do is overwhelming, then 9Round is a gift from heaven)
3) all the equipment is provided for me.
4) you can do the exercises at the level of intensity that works for you.
5) there are no class times!! You can work out whenever your want, prior to their cut-off time. This is especially important for me and my boyfriend, because we work until 5:30 pm, so the earliest we can arrive is 6 pm. Despite the enormous variety of everything in the Easty Bay universe, it is almost impossible to find an exercise class time that starts at 6 pm or later.
Dave, the owner, really cares about you having a great workout in a clean, welcoming, well-equipped environment. I work out in the evening, and Dave is there 90% of the evenings. His trainers - Ovvie, Xin, and Vinnie - are always supportive and helpful. I have come to know each of them well. They are energetic and prompt in providing help, if you need help; and if you don't, they give you plenty of space and independence (of course, you still have to do the exercises they have set forth, you cannot totally do your own thing. But that's what you are paying for, you are paying to do the exercises they have laid out for that particular day). Again, you can do the exercises at the level of intensity you want. I never feel judged or left to figure something out on my own. If I need assistance, someone always attends to me in about 20 seconds max; literally, someone will be assisting you before you reach 20.
I think a real testament to the value of 9Round is the fact that my boyfriend is happy to pay for a membership. My boyfriend is very fit, has washboard abs etc. He is in his early 50's. In all his decades of exercising, he has never paid for any kind of membership or even a class. He is SUPER frugal. The only reason I was able to get him to try 9Round was because his mom gave us a generous Xmas gift, so he didn't have to pay for it himself. Well, after the gift money was spent, he actually spent his OWN money to continue the membership, which says a LOT! He likes the variety and the challenge. Me, I love that I get an efficient workout that is both strength and cardio, with all the planning and equipment provided for me. All I need to do is show up!

The best and great value gym I have ever been a member of! I have been going to this gym since late 2019. Dave, Tam and all the trainers are exceptional. Very motivating and they all care about everyone’s progress which I really appreciate. The gym is clean with exceptional hygiene measures, fun, a great community! You will have a great, efficient workout everyday! Dave often organizes members to signup for different races as a team including himself. I can't possibly say enough about the trainers at 9Round Temescal, especially David and Ovi, with whom I have been working since I joined in September. They are both motivating and understanding, which goes a long way for me. David even goes the extra mile to create special routines for me when it's punch mitt time since finding out that I had been declining to participate because my ADHD makes it very difficult for me to remember and execute the combos. That kind of kindness and understanding makes this a really special place, and I love working out here (as much as I CAN love working out, anyway!)

I am new to 9Round. I was looking for a workout that would help me with stress management, which is really important for my chronic health issues. I've done 3 workouts here now, and it's been a good experience. The trainers are positive, attentive, and helpful: so far, 1) they proactively ask what's up with you injury or health wise and accommodate that, which means a lot to someone who is recovering from a flare up of a chronic illness, 2) but they still push you gently to do well at your level, and 3) they are very helpful with kickboxing form for a newbie. I really like that it feels covid safe, especially noting the cleaning of equipment between clients each round, and the masks. I like that the exercises can help me get out aggression, but that the vibe of the studio is not aggressive or hyper-masculine, which has kept me out of some gyms. I like the trainer to client ratio too - there are usually 2-3 trainers there and not often more then 5 people working out at a time in my experience.

My favourite gym ever. The team really makes you feel welcomed from the first day. I didn't know anything about boxing moves and was a bit intimidated but they definitely take the time to show you the ropes. Love that everyone here is so friendly. The workouts change every day so it doesn't feel repetitive and I've noticed a considerable increase in my upper body strength - which I've never been able to achieve on my own or at other gyms / classes. (They are also meticulous about cleaning). Just a win-win all around!

This is such a wonderful place to come for a killer workout! Though I joined only recently, I have loved every second of my workouts there. The trainers challenge and push you but at the same time are so motivating and encouraging. Everyone is diligent about having masks on and following COVID safety protocols, so I feel very safe coming here to work out. I love the structure of the 30-minute, intense workout at 9round - the exercises are always a little bit different and I always leave feeling like I got a really good workout for the day. Dave - the owner - was great about communicating with me when I initially joined - and the gym feels very safe and clean. Dave and Ov are great trainers and as someone who had never boxed or kickboxed before stepping into their gym - they made me feel right at home and immediately comfortable. I joined during Covid-19 when David and Tam reopened with new protocols. Everyone's diligent about masking up and sanitizing, and with only 5 people working out at a time, I feel more comfortable here than in the grocery store. I was curious whether a circuit gym that uses kickboxing moves would feel as satisfying as the boxing gym I used to go to, and I'm glad to say the workouts have been amazing for both building strength and endurance, and also for keeping me sane. We are very lucky to have a location where the air flow is absolutely perfect including the space inside which allows a maximum of 5 people working out at the same time, sharing the energy and enjoying the great music selection. This is been a blessing for me during this isolating times even with their virtual workouts! Thanks much for your great effort in maintaining our good mental, emotional and physical health.

I signed up online for a free workout the night before and it was a super easy process. The morning of, the owner, David, texted me ahead of the appointment to confirm I was still able to make it. I wasn’t able to, but he followed up asking if I wanted to reschedule and accommodated my new time.
I arrived there and was greeted by David. He explained everything to me then led me through an amazing HIIT workout that left me sweaty, sore (the next day) and immediately wanting more! I signed up on the spot!

I’m a nurse in this community that helps teach people cpr for free. I just did cpr on someone in this neighborhood last Friday and under a lot of stress. whoever was in charge of opening the building on 5/3/19 sat in their car and had the security guard harass me until I moved my car out of their reserved parking. The gym is closed from 2-4 pm and the space says you can park for 10 mins. I was there at 3:00 to drop off laundry. Gentrification is violent and so are the people operating the business.

Wow, what a fun, energetic and challenging workout! I never thought that kickboxing was for me, but with the helpful, hands-on coaching that Tam and David provide and the creative and interesting workout plans, this is now a part of my regular fitness routine! Very highly recommend.

If you're looking for a new gym or just swinging through town, this is your place. Quality equipment, clean set up, friendly vibe, awesome attentive coaching, and just a premium faculty. These awesome people will push you to be the best you can be, don't waste your time at a regular gym that will not give you results!

9Round is the perfect workout solution! The workout is 30 minutes and changes every day, the trainers are great, the workout is always challenging, and there’s no class times! You just roll in whenever works for your schedule and they start you on the circuit. Plus you get to punch and kick stuff and get your aggression out in a healthy way, which is a good balance to all the gentle yoga I’ve been doing. Honestly, I wish all workout classes were like this.

Never thought I would look forward to working out! 9 Round in Temescal (across from Temescal Alley) is the perfect boxing gym that challenges us every time with a new 30-minute routine of punching, kicking, aerobic and weight workout all led by a personal trainer who keeps us accountable to keep going.
Gym members seem to be equally women and men.
You can drop in whenever you want (no class times) and it’s easy to park in the lot. I feel strong and even after 1 class felt like I’d be more able to defend myself if need be.
It’s new and clean - something that had stopped me from joining a boxing gym before. :) They have a first free class so if you’re looking to get in shape, love the idea of boxing, and want flexibility along with a trainer at a very affordable price - try 9Round. See you!
