AIM isn't your ordinary gym. It's a private gym tailored to its members and their fitness goals. From private sessions, one on one coaching, group classes and nutrition programs, they have something to offer everyone. They are backed with an amazing coaching staff with a wealth of knowledge.

I started at AIM during one of there annual weight loss challenges 3yrs ago. I started slow trying to just get back into the gym. Within weeks I found myself joining the group class sessions. 3yrs later and 50lbs lighter, I can honestly say I am the strongest I've ever been!

I can't say enough about the programming, the coaches and the community I have found at AIM. It's a wonderful environment surrounded with a community built on supporting each other and pushing each and every member to be the best version of themselves.

So if you are looking for a private community gym, with great programs, great coaching, and a gym culture that is willing to work and grow with you, then AIM is the place for you!

I’ve been training with AIM Fitness since 2021, and it has truly transformed my fitness journey. I work one-on-one with Marla and also join the group classes. Both are amazing! The workouts are fun, challenging, and make me feel like an athlete again.

I recently attended a workout class at AIM fitness and it was a great experience! Marylin and Sam helped instruct our class and they were extremely supportive and encouraging. As someone who is a beginner with weight lifting it can be intimidating to start but Marylin and Sam were extremely attentive taking the time to help correct my form making sure each movement was done safely and effectively. The class was an hour but flew by because of how engaging it was. This gym was welcoming, professional and motivating.

I’ve had the chance to work out with Marilyn multiple times, and she is BY FAR the most detailed and supportive trainer I’ve ever worked with. She really takes the time to listen to my needs and makes thoughtful adjustments, especially when it comes to my shoulder pain. She showed me how to correct my form and gave me specific exercises to better activate the muscles around my shoulders, which has made a huge difference in my lifts. She also provides helpful workout lists and advice that I can use on my own. Overall, she’s an incredible trainer who truly cares about helping her clients!!!

After getting a knee injury from work, I was having some serious issues with day to day movements and pain. Marilyn has been incredibly accommodating, patient and helpful with providing me a knee rehab plan that not only gave me my mobility back— but feeling stronger than ever.

All of the trainers are incredible. They take the time to program with intention, consider each member’s needs, and always check in about injuries or modifications. You never feel like just another person in the room, they genuinely care.

Nine months at AIM and I can't stop gushing about it! AIM stands for "All in Mentality," but I've experienced the acronym in a few other ways:

"Athletic Improvement Monthly"
The programming is extremely well designed and targeted to improve certain metrics over the course of each month. Plus, they’ve 'gamified' strength-building. Your main lifting stats are listed on a community whiteboard, and you watch it grow over time. They do 'testing' on three moves each month, which inspires you to do your BEST, whether you’re motivated by friendly competition or just seeing your own achievements. To top it off, the member community is SO supportive -- from people beginning their fitness journeys to seasoned pros, everyone is encouraging of each other.

"Awesome & Intelligent Mentors"
The AIM coaches are true professionals. They know the physical science behind training and how to maximize what you get out of it. They place a HUGE emphasis on form and make sure everyone is doing movements safely.

They also take the time to get to know each member. They listen to your goals and give you individualized advice on how to achieve them; they learn your schedule and nudge you when you don't show up; they observe your injuries and adapt your workouts accordingly; they see what you're good at and push you to excel. A few highlights of each coach:

SAM: if you're intimidated in a gym environment, go to one of Sam's classes. She helped me quickly get comfortable with new moves by being her chill, patient, non-judgmental self. She listens well, laughs easily, and is the kind of fun, easygoing person you want to grab a beer with. She low-key helps you get stronger, silently observing and subtly inspiring you to lift more weight. I live for a fist bump and a "let's gooo" from Sam.

AARON: a dose of Aaron's BIG energy is what you need when you show up not feeling your best. He'll blast some tunes, make some groan-worthy dad jokes, and suddenly you're vibing right again. He suggests helpful tweaks to form, but doesn't overwhelm you with too many tips at once. Sometimes I go hard, in part because I might get an impressed reaction from Aaron -- he's stronger than most folks, so I adore how he seems genuinely impressed by each member when he sees them challenging themselves.

JAKE: spend one minute with Jake and you'll know he works hard, but a life of fitness comes so naturally to him that it seeps out of him and washes over you. He doesn't have to goad you into doing more, he just casually suggests that you're strong enough to do it, and he's so freakin' authentic and positive that you're convinced you can do it too. Then you try it, and it's hard and it sucks but you succeed, so you kinda hate him but also you can't help but love him.

MARLA: fitness goddess, badass business owner, mother of (more than I can count!), strong and inspiring as hell, and yet somehow also warm and approachable?? Strangely, I want to be Marla when I grow up, but also maybe I just want her to take care of me because I firmly believe she can handle anything, and way better than I could.

"Arms In Mirror"
I never used to enjoy looking at my reflection while working out, but I am feeling SUPER toned after several months, and now I don't mind sneaking peaks (okay, blatantly staring) at myself while curling or pressing dumbbells.

WARNING: If you're worried that lifting weights will make you too big... well, there's risk of that at AIM. My arms honestly are only slightly bigger than before I joined, but I am starting to get compliments on them, so my head is getting HUGE.

"At last, I'm Motivated!"
I've dabbled in various forms of fitness over the past two decades. I work full time and have a young kid, so it's hard to be consistent about exercising unless the workouts are extremely motivating and efficient. AIM is EXACTLY what I need. I find myself adjusting my schedule to make sure I can get to the gym instead of making excuses not to go. The membership cost is worth every penny.

I’ve been at AIM for over a year now. The trainers are really knowledgeable and thoughtful. Not only do they design well crafted workouts but also give a 1:1 training experience during their classes. I'm so happy to have come across a facility that finally checks all my boxes! This is the first gym I've been to where the class program changes every month. Each training block is so unique you won't be doing the same movements, and may I say it is very challenging (but I love it). If group classes isn't your cup of tea, they have personal trainers that will work 1 on 1 with you. The cherry on top is that they test your PRs at the end of every month.

I was very hesitant to start training again because the last time I lifted anything was nearly a year ago. But the trainers here make you feel comfortable and push you to be stronger than you think. Shoutout to Sam for helping me get back into the groove of training again. She's the best! I started working with Jake a week after my 63rd birthday, after a diagnosis of osteoporosis. It has been a transformative experience. I shopped around for the right spot to begin weight training. I’ve had two neck surgeries so I had some concerns. Plus the most activity I’d done in the previous ten years is walk the dogs!

I found a home at AIM. Jake is so knowledgeable, experienced and kind. He challenges me but I trust him completely. I’ve gotten really strong and confident. It’s changed the way I move around in the world.

The programming is strategic, super well thought out and builds on each other, like no other gym I’ve gone to before. The classes are great because they’re small group training (10 people max) so everything is individualized according to your needs and goals, not to mention the nutritional guidance/accountability that comes along with it (down 30lbs to prove it!). This review is long overdue. I started training with Marla when I was pregnant. I was reluctant to hire a trainer but it was the best decision I ever made. Marla is very knowledgeable and customized every session towards my ever changing needs. I felt safe training with weights and challenged every session. Training with Marla gave me energy throughout my pregnancy and helped me bounce back quickly after giving birth.

AIM fitness is also kid friendly. There’s a waiting area for kids. Marla was kind enough to set up obstacles for my 5 year old during our sessions. My daughter loves when I workout so she can train with Marla.

I highly recommend AIM fitness! If you show up you’ll get results!

I’ve been going to AIM Fitness for about a month now, and I can already see and feel a huge difference. The Thursday night class is full-body and they have multiple instructors that ensure you are doing the workout correctly. I also wanted to grow my glutes so they mortified my workouts to target that area further. They have lots of different equipment and reps which keeps the class engaging.. 1 hour feels like 20 minutes. Best class I’ve taken in Costa Mesa by far.

Good news...if you have been searching for the perfect gym then you just found it! After my previous gym closed I did a free trial at various gyms all over OC and AIM came out the winner. Trust me, I'm picky so that right there says something. I've now been at AIM for just over two months and they are just as amazing as I hoped. The owners, Jake and Marla, are kind, caring, professional and knowledgeable. The programming is excellent with workouts divided into lower, upper, conditioning, push and pull days. I've already improved so much in just a few months and everyone is encouraging and kind. There is definitely a sense of community and their PR parties have everyone cheering you on. The other coaches there Aaron and Sam are incredible as well so you can't go wrong at any time slot. They obviously do private training, but I've been happy with the classes. They keep them small so you get plenty of help and you can get everything done in about an hour. There are lots of times and I've always been able to take the class that works best for me. The gym is clean and they have all the equipment you need. Plus with an unlimited membership you get open gym which is an extra benefit. I often get there early to use the treadmill for example or you can do the workout independently. You probably won't want to because everyone in the classes are so kind and supportive though! The positive environment is important to me because I'm relatively new to strength training (started at age 47 a year ago) and I'm still learning everything. They do a free trial so you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain! If I could give them more than 5 stars I definitely would. Thank you AIM...you guys are the BEST!

One of the best gyms and community of people I have been apart of!

Jake and Marla and the other coaches truly care and this place makes you feel beyond welcome. They have great attitudes every day, constantly encouraging all of us and are just great people to be around.

The classes are smaller so you truly get to focus on the lifts while getting to know the other people in the class, which makes this place feel like family.

I love how all our names are written on a white board with our max weight listed for specific lifts we have done. With this, you can truly see yourself progress while having fun comparing your max weights to others in the class.

Truly the strongest I have felt in years. Previously did a lot of CrossFit style hi intensity work outs that would feel great but I never got stronger or felt solid. Here I do, no question.

It’s beyond addicting coming here and if you truly care about your fitness, want to see legitimate progress and results, have a community of people in it with you, this is your place.

As an athlete it can be hard to find trainers that can push you to your limits to get you to your full potential. I have been going to AIM for around 4 months now and I cannot recommend them enough. I came to AIM with painful pinching in my lower back and annoying muscle tension up the back of my neck. After just 2 training session with Alex the pinching in my lower back was gone! Even when I carry heavy items up my stairs.
Half of our first session together was a functional test to determine where my imbalances were, then I received targeted workouts to get those areas back on track and correct some mobility issues I was having. Alex is so patient when demonstrating and explaining the movements/exercises, and he explains the goals of the exercises so that I can continue the work on my own outside of our sessions. I completed my third session with him and the persistent tension in my neck is gone. I am so grateful!

I've been coming to AIM Fitness for about a month now and it is safe to say I'm obsessed. I did a lot of research before choosing this gym because I was looking for weight lifting environment similar to what I had when I was a D1 athlete in college. What is nice about AIM is the ranging levels of ability there, from beginners to advanced. I am a competitive person and the coaches (specifically Jake and Aaron) push me and encourage me just like I had when playing team sports. No matter what your level is, you will be challenged and your experience will be tailored. This isn't just a HIIT gym, they will push you to be your strongest and I am already lifting weights I haven't hit in a long time due to the environment they foster. I love being able to simply show up and have my workout made and demonstrated for me. You really do get a lot of personal support and the team environment from the other athletes is great. You can tell they know each and every one of us and take the time to do so. I can already see results not just physically, but mentally as well. This gym is exactly what I was looking for and I'm so glad I get to be a part of it. If you like lifting weights, being encouraged/part of a team, and having a regimented routine, this is exactly the place for you.

The best gym! Can’t recommend enough!
I have always struggled with gyms and have never found one I truly enjoyed going to. AIM Fitness came into my life right when I needed it and I will forever be grateful!
The gym itself is always clean, organized, and has everything you could need. The coaches are extremely educated and patient with me, as I was VERY new to strength training when we started. I have a lot of past injuries and anxiety that they take into consideration every workout.
The best part about AIM is the people and coaches- when I need my space I have it, when I need encouragement and guidance I have it! I train 1:1 with Marla, who is one of the strongest and most thoughtful coaches I’ve ever met. She has helped me tremendously mentally and physically and I’m so lucky to have her in my life. So I came to AIM barely able to stand without being in pain due to a spinal cord injury. I workout with Ashley and in a short time i have been surpassing goals that I had set before my injury. I came to Aim wanting the impossible. And I got it! I love lifting heavy and after years of it my knees have taken the brunt of it. So I asked Jake if he could help me keep my size and strength, keep me lifting heavy but take away my knee pain. Through his training that’s exactly what happened. You thought Jesus performed some miracles…just wait till you meet Jake and Marla! If you place your trust with Jake and Marla, and you put in the work, results are pretty much guaranteed. So definitely thought I would share just my overall experience with AIM fitness. So before I met coach jake and his wife and team I was literally just a mess. Was going through one of the toughest times in my life with work, personal life stuff and just confidence issues. I used to train at a place in LA and it was super cool but when I moved back to OC I had no other means of training unless I went to you normal”planet fitness gyms” (which by the way is no bueno). So with just trying to find a way to escape out of my depression I was looking up local gyms near my area and came across AIM fitness. Now when it comes to gyms I always make sure to do my research before I decide to take on a commitment anywhere! So when I researched the background on the gym and staff I saw the coach Jake was from usc and did a lot of strength and performance base training with high end athletes so me being a kendo swordsman/athlete decided well why not give it a try. Let me tell you THE BEST FREAKIN DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE! Not only does coach Jake and his team provide you with elite workouts that get you sore as heck( and I mean sore were you like heck yeah bout to get these gains but there set up is super dope and it’s a family base gym where he incorporates proper form, accountability, and he is a Kinesiologist/ pero man e athlete who knows how to get younger results you need and the atmosphere is fun ohh and there playlist be off the chain too haha! If you want rap you’ll get rap if you want country you’ll get country if you want turn up where we bout to do work then you’ll get that too! All in all I was in my lowest times and Jake gave me a home to feel like family him and all the athletes there. Please guys GO GO GO!! Been coming to this gym for 2 months now and I can’t say enough good things about the trainers and community. I have never done strength training before and routinely coming to a gym has been a brand new experience for me. The workouts constantly push me outside my comfort zone and they are just as challenging physically as they are mentally. I completely underestimated how much these workouts would push me mentally and I struggle every session to simply trust my body and not let my head get in the way. I find strength in myself through the confidence and patience these trainers have in me and I find the work I’ve done here invaluable. I found this gym on google maps by googling “personal trainer” the hardest day was making that initial call that i wanted to come in and showing up for the first meeting. Ever since then this gym has made me feel confident and comfortable to walk in the doors for training and slightly uncomfortable walking out as I’ve never been this sore in my life. I highly recommend training here for anyone considering it! By far the BEST gym I’ve ever attended. The people/community here are incredible and super supportive. I’ve been attending AIM Fitness now for a year and I’ve lost nearly 70lbs and that’s all thanx to their great programming. I met Jake and Marla at a corporate gym I was a member of and specifically took all of Jakes classes and later signed up for small group training with Marla and when I tell you I have followed them from two different garage gyms during the pandemic to now AIM Fitness it’s because not only do they program the best workouts that have had me hit PR’s I never thought I could hit and feeling the strongest I’ve ever felt, they have created an amazing community of likeminded people who are incredibly supportive of each other and have the same mindset of getting strong but having fun while doing it. Their passion and knowledge for helping people in health and fitness is beyond what I have seen anywhere else. Cannot say enough great things about how positive my experience was here. AIM fitness transformed my life. Before I met the owners, Marla and Jake, I could not stay consistent with my workouts. I hated working out and was chasing a number on the scale. I never thought of myself as an athlete, let alone a strong one. But they showed me that everyone is an athlete. They taught me the how and the why behind every movement and motivated me to not only continue on my journey but to believe in my capabilities. I have been a member at AIM since they opened and this is the best gym I’ve ever been too. Prior to joining AIM I was not consistent with my workout routine, but since joining I have gained so much strength and enjoy working out. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I was a client of Jake/AIM when Jake & Marla were still operating their gym out of their home garage! Let me say I did really enjoy working out in an intimate environment, but it’s an amazing space that they have now off of Baker. The whole AIM Fitness fam (Jake, Marla, clients) are so welcoming and encouraging. It’s really fun to work out with everyone in small groups. I like that AIM has a lot of packages available (small groups only, mix/match small group & a variety of personal training sessions) to help you to meet your fitness goals.

Jake and Marla are super awesome, kind humans who genuinely care about you and want to help you live your life to the fullest. They keep you accountable, all while still having fun working out. If I was still living in OC, I would still be going here. There’s a much more personal feel here at AIM than training at commercial gyms like 24 Hr or LA Fitness.

If you’re not into personal training regularly and just want to look amazing for summer or something else, keep on the lookout for their short summer boot camp specials!

AIM Fitness is the best environment I’ve come across for individual as well as group training. The owner Jake is so inspirational with his “you can do this” training attitude and his daily thoughts that he posts. His wife trains too, and also helps with nutritional training. One look at her and you know she knows her stuff. They both definitely practice what they preach. The periodic partner and individual challenges are competitions that really appeal to my competitive nature. I can compete against myself while achieving new goals, but I also get to compete against other teams. I would strongly suggest giving AIM Fitness a try !!

Coach Mac has this undeniable understanding of the human body. I was diagnosed with DDD in 2014 and we recently started working together not only to strengthen my core, (without situps mind you), but to break me of my old posture habits due to my DDD. He has the ability to push me beyond what I thought I was capable of doing while keeping me safe. The goal was to be able to exercise to help manage my pain which is happening. Where to begin! AIM is an absolute life changing experience! I started training with Marla & Jake August 2020 and all I can say is my life has never been the same since. Though there are many gyms in So Cal, none tie in all the aspects of individualized fitness plans, state-of-the-art equipment, knowledgeable Coaches, and genuine camaraderie like AIM Fitness. Feeling my absolute heaviest in 2020 I went to seek out guidance from Jake & Marla at AIM fitness! What a transformative journey! Not only did i lose fat, but I got stronger & educated on how to have the correct form on doing various exercises. Marla and Jake are two of the best professionals in the workout industry. I highly recommend both of them to anyone who wants to get in Peak shape tone up and lose weight.
