Generally a good in person studio though hot/packed classes are not for everyone. I no longer live in Davis and have signed up for multiple online classes because I enjoy the classes and teachers but multiple times its happened where no one turned on the Zoom. Extremely frustrating and disappointing when you are all ready to work out. It also seems as though no one cares about fixing this issue. The response is always "sorry better luck next time." Unfortunate.

Over-filled classes and no amenities. Hot yoga studios should have showers and space to change. I've ended up having to drive to Sac or Vacaville for the comfort and the space to breath. Too bad because the teachers are nice, but the experience is stressfull.

This studio is a case study of wellness culture co-opting and commodifying spiritual traditions. The emphasis here is clearly on aesthetics and performance, not mindfulness or grounding. The room was so hot I was drenched and slipping all over my mat, making it nearly impossible to hold poses with any integrity. And let’s be clear, sweating doesn’t “detox” anything, your kidneys and liver handle that. This model caters to a narrow vision of wellness that’s centered on thin, affluent white bodies and “hot girl” fitness trends, rather than inclusive or culturally respectful practice. The instructors were kind and seemed knowledgeable, which is unfortunate, because the overall experience felt like a diluted, performative version of what yoga is meant to be.

I am a BIG fan of this studio & the Pilates classes! The Pilates classes will kick your booty & I leave feeling stronger & energized. The classes are challenging & you are motivated to push yourself in a fun & inviting way. Steve is an awesome instructor — he has a great balance between intensity & care. He hypes you up in class so you believe you CAN do it & do it with a smile on your face. If you’re wanting to check out a class, I highly recommend!

The yin yoga class is delectable! This place is clean with an easy online interface and great introductory deal for first timers: $45 for one month unlimited.
Drawbacks are too many for me to keep a membership though:

1. The studio space is crazy crowded for the number of students they allow to enter! The very least they could do is to mark off the floor for mat placement if they're not going to reduce the class size cap.
2. They only really offer hot vinyasa classes that are too rigorous for those of us who need a slower, gentler practice and more guidance with alignment. And if you're a beginner or have less control over your movements, the crowded space doesn't allow you to make mistakes or learn your limits without interrupting your neighbors' practice.
3. The studio is hot, so of course it get sweaty, and it's awesome that they offer spray bottles with cleaning solution for members' use. But ohmygoodness the studio blocks are wet every time you go to use them... is it cleaning solution? Is it sweat? I'm sorry but ew! I'll bring my own.

I would be a committed member if they offered some straight hatha or slow flow options. As it stands, I will definitely continue attending the yin classes whenever I can, despite the crowded space because they're so yummy!

Akasha is my favorite yoga studio in Davis. I've been going to Akasha for almost 10 years and I absolutely love this place, the instructors and the community. I hadn't done a lot of yoga before moving to Davis and discovering Akasha and now I'm all-in on yoga and the studio. I was able to take zoom classes during the pandemic and still sometimes log in to a Livestream, but they offer so many in-person classes that I can usually find a great time to visit the studio. I love that they offer classes throughout the day including early morning and evening. And the instructors for both the yoga and pilates classes are fantastic. I have taken classes out of state while traveling and I always miss the high caliber of Akasha instructors when I am away. One of the best parts about Akasha is the friendly and fun community; I've become friends with so many people in the Akasha orbit, including instructors and patrons. Akasha gets all the stars from me. Hope to see you on a mat there soon.

They over pack the classes so people are packed in like sardines. Literally 45 people (the maximum allowance for fire safety) scheduled for one room. People who have scheduled in advance and show up early have to leave because there isn't enough space. This has been an issue for years for my friends and other students and I've literally heard teachers complain about it. Management did respond to my email but dismissed my concerns. Teachers are very good but the business side is unprofessional.

The teachers are all pretty good, but I think they should control the number of participants. Almost every time I go, it’s overcrowded, making the air quality poor and leaving no space to fully stretch during movements.

Overall a great yoga studio! My favorite class is the yin yoga class with Nick. He is definitely one of the better yoga teachers I’ve ever had! I wish I could rate a 4.5 / 5. I am only taking off a star because I wish more yin classes were offered during the week - the only thing that holds me back from a membership. We could all benefit from slowing down during the week as well 😌

Akasha is a wonderful studio. All the teachers are amazing and classes accommodate all levels. The yoga practices are grounded in breath work and allow each yogi to “choose their own adventure” and honor their body and mind. Not only is the studio friendly, it is also like a great big family. If you are new to the practice, Akasha offers beginner classes and the teachers are open to assist and answer questions. They also have a monthly sound bath and regularly schedule special classes. I highly recommend giving Akasha studio a try.

I have practiced yoga at other studios over the years and Akasha is by far the best! The instructors are always welcoming, prepared for their classes, extremely supportive, and knowledgeable. They offer modifications and keep the pace of the class slow and steady. A safe environment for all levels.
The studio is located in a nice part of downtown, it's very clean and the temp is HOT! The best part of Akasha isn't just the studio with the amazing window wall that provides an outdoor feel, but it's the strength, flexibility and friendships that you take home.
You will soon crave more time on your mat at Akasha!

I've been taking classes at Akasha since early 2014. It is a wonderful yoga community with excellent teachers who expertly know how to guide students through their practice. I love the heated vinyasa and cool yin classes equally and appreciate how they each support my body and soul.

They offer several hot yoga and Pilates classes every day. Temp is around 100. It’s a very comfortable place to practice yoga with a variety of instructors and very reasonable prices. The Yoga is pretty much all vinyasa, and a couple yin classes offered each week. No masks anymore.

No frills, hot yoga classes with kind staff. If it is your first time there, take advantage of the 2 week unlimited pass for $20. They offer early classes at 6am for those trying to sneak in a class before work!

Every yogi has a different take on what a yoga studio should be like. Akasha is a one big room studio, very very hot room.. Make sure to get a spot in front or back or the edges of the room for your first time so you can get used to the temperature and adjust accordingly. Instructors are all very friendly. Love Dianna's flow :) they have a $20 for two weeks special for new students, which is very generous. Have a nice flow :)
