I highly recommend AMP. I have been a member for just over a year, and it took a minute to find the right program, schedule, and community that worked for me. Now, I have found a place where I feel motivated, supported, and challenged. A few hours a week, I get to shut out the noise and focus on something simple (but intense) like knocking out 100 burpees.
While I know not everyone has had the same experience, I still encourage people to give AMP a try. We all have different fitness goals and preferences, and AMP offers a wide range of class types (strength, hybrid, cardio, and flexibility) so there likely will be something that fits your needs.
As for the community, like anywhere, you will meet some coaches and members you really click with and others you probably wouldn’t grab drink with. That’s just part of the experience. The gym offers a free trial week, so you can see if it’s a good fit for you. If it is, great. And if not, no hard feelings.
Bottom line: try it out for yourself.

AMP is my gym and my jam. The trainers are basically gods at this place. If you want to be inspired by a bunch of badasses, this is the place. Everyone here is friendly and cool. It's also a Hyrox affiliate, so there are a number of athletes that compete in that sport here.

Not for me. The vibe felt stuck-up and passive-aggressive, with an odd need to dominate or one-up. As a Santa Monica local, the group felt mostly like recent transplants. During my free week pass, the instructor made a condescending comment about my build—“nice athleisure”—which felt like a dig at my dancer/yoga physique. I didn’t feel welcome from the start.
Instruction was average—very little personalization IRL regarding attention to form… points for in app that you track yourself. Waste of time when paired with different body structures partners, which matters when lifting heavy. I came for proper technique and strength training, not to risk injury.

I originally signed up for AMP in 2019 and have seen an incredible improvement in my fitness. They have recently moved locations to 14th and Olympic in Santa Monica (originally on 19th and Olympic) and the additional space is superb! You have an indoor area where most of the workouts take place, locker rooms with showers and an outside area with picnic benches, coffee shop, sauna, cold plunge and even more workout equipment (if you like to get your tan on while training).
AMP is great for people at any level of fitness because they offer many different types of classes and a very flexible schedule. Personally, my favorite is the Hybrid class where you first have a Strength portion either working squats, deadlifts, push press, bench etc., followed by a WOD which is usually a pretty intense workout that may incorporate some lift like thrusters, snatches, power cleans, STOH and cardio on the machines (row, ski erg, bike erg, echo bike), jump rope, box jumps or a run. But, if you’re not into that style, they also have a Strength class, Open Gym, Olympic Lifting, and various workshops, like a Mobility class for example. There’s workouts every day of the week. Monday-Friday starting at 5am going to 7pm usually, and Saturdays and Sundays starting at 8am. They also have special events that could be fundraisers for charity, beach workouts or their annual AMP Invitational.
Above all, the best part about AMP is the community – the owners, coaches and members. Alex and Ahnna started the gym in 2018, participate in workouts, encourage you when you’re struggling and give you specific tips on areas for improvement. Recently, I was experiencing a bit of discomfort in my elbow area and Ahnna told me that could be due to tight lats and showed me some stretches which has been helping. The coaches, Jake, Leah, Nick, Sarah, Danny, Amanda, Nadya, Nikita, Gus, Juvie, Zack are awesome people, very knowledgeable, they break down each movement, can help you modify a specific activity, keep an eye on each member during the workout and are also very encouraging to keep going the WODs. The members are incredibly awesome, very supportive, help each other out, pick up the weights/barbells, reset the gym before the next class and you can expect a high-five, fist-bump after going through the wringer together. I’d consider many of them friends.
If you’ve been thinking about trying something new or already familiar with Crossfit and want to check it out AMP – you will not be disappointed!

I was in Los Angeles for work, and I was able to do 3 drop-ins. The environment is really great, and the coaches are very friendly and professional. Alex was really accommodating with everything, and there are countless classes available. Highly recommended, it's a pity I had to leave to go back in Switzerland.

The best gym, ever ever. It’s more than a gym, it’s a community of people committed to good living and longevity developed by owners passionate about this lifestyle and coaches who have been hand picked, not just for their exceptional coaching skills, but for their enthusiasm and welcoming spirits.
My husband and I have been coming on and off since they opened; I have been waylaid a bit by injuries and surgeries (not from them!), but my hubs has been going consistently for about 2 years now and me oh my does it show. 😉
There are a few different class styles, something I have appreciated especially as I’ve had to rehab after surgery and through pregnancy. I find that even when pregnant, there are so many workouts I can do or easily cater with the help of the coaches.
I personally love the workout structure and the types of equipment used—primarily assault bike, rower, ski, erg bike, barbells, dumbbells, pull-up bar, rings, and kettlebells.
They recently moved to a larger space to better house said equipment, but also with lovely facilities for those of us who need to shower quick before work. They also have a great little cafe truck, green space, cold plunge and sauna, and many community events so people can mingle and get involved.
If you ever wanted to work out like an actor from 300, meet great people, and enjoy sitting for a matcha with your kid in the yard afterwards, this is the place to come. =]

Came to Amp in May 2024 after taking almost 2 years off of fitness. Started at their old location and transitioned to the new spot. At 46 i have never felt stronger in my life. The classes and programming is what i never knew i needed to feel stronger and healthier than ever. And this summer they worked to get my soon to be senior in high school daughter signed up - first minor to be signed up. It took a little time to work out the details but they actually went the extra mile to make it work for me - a new member. I was really stoked. The members are all amazing and i appreciate the hard work and effort of ownership to protect their business.
I highly recommend for beginners and serious fitness athletes.

I have been going to Amp for roughly 3 years now. I started going to Amp to prepare for my first Hyrox back in 2021 and have stayed because of the coaches, the community, and the workouts that are still challenging and different to how I trained before joining. Amp's old gym was great but their new gym is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and come visit, take a class and see for yourself.

I joined in November 2023 thinking « i will just take classes 1-2 times a week to add some variety and fun to my regular workout routine ». I fell in love with the workouts, and the gym from day one. I have never done CrossFit before, but at Amp from the talented coaches to the CF community- everyone was so nice and accepting. I felt welcomed from the moment I arrived and became a regular taking classes 6 times a week. The energy and the atmosphere is great and you leave every workout smiling. Not only did I take my training to another level, I also made great friends ! Best gym and community ever!

I’ve been a member of Amp for over 5 years. In that time, I have added over 10 pounds of lean muscle and significantly increased my speed and endurance. Even though I am one of the oldest members and can’t do what the younger members do, the coaches and other members are welcoming and encouraging. It is a wonderful community and the new space is awesome. When I am in town, I go to class 5 or 6 days each week, and my time at Amp is always a highlight of my day.

Absolutely love this gym. Been a part of it for almost 4 years now and I can’t say I’m bored of it yet. I used to go to F45, Barry’s, and the other fad gyms beforehand, but I’ve never seen my cardio and strength improve like it has at AMP. I had also never done any barbell movements before coming here, but all the coaches and members were so encouraging and me feel welcome. I learned a lot at the Olympic lifting classes from all the coaches who are very helpful and knowledgeable on technique. And finally, the community can’t get better at this gym. No egos, just fun. Thank you Alex and Ahnna for creating this space where we can work hard, play hard.

The best gym!! Community is amazing and there’s always special workshops for folks who want to work on their mobility, Olympic lifts, strong man, etc. amp also puts on events to raise money for charities and hosts a relay run every year in addition.

I can’t recommend AMP enough. I was looking for a CrossFit gym where I could meet friendly people and find a sense of community - after my first class at AMP I knew I’d found exactly that. Owners Ahnna and Alex make a point to know every member by name and welcome them by name at their first class. Team workouts on Saturdays help introduce you to members of the AMP community. The coaches are all friendly, knowledgeable and will always push me to exceed what I thought I could do. Really couldn’t be happier that I joined this gym a year ago!

I joined AMP at the end of December 2023. I had moved from London in July, leaving such a strong CrossFit community in which I was entrenched. For 6 months I have tried different places, yet did not find a community nor a good programming until I came across AMP. I had lost a lot of my fitness / strength over those 6 months; but the way I was welcomed into the AMP community has helped me get back on track and not get discouraged as I was/still am trying to rebuild my fitness/strength levels! The love/care/energy Alex, Ahnna, and all the coaches put into the space and community are unmatched! I’m so happy to be part of the community and see it expand and grow even more! Wherever you are in your fitness journey, you’ll find your spot at AMP!

I've been attending classes at AMP ASSOC for over a year now, and it has become my favorite place in LA. I genuinely miss the gym when I can't make a workout. The group classes go beyond just exercise; they're uplifting experiences that leave me feeling energized and empowered. While I hadn't tried CrossFit before, as a former athlete, I've taken various exercise classes, and AMP's workout consistently humbles me the most.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always offering guidance and encouragement. Some coaches have not only become mentors but friends. I have also made new friends among the members, defying the notion that LA is not conducive to forming new friendships. We push each other day-in and day-out.
The NEW location is top-notch, comparable to any gym in the city. Ahnna and Alex built an amazing community, and their vision for growing and maintaining it in this new iteration of AMP is inspiring. I wholeheartedly recommend AMP to anyone seeking a positive and challenging fitness environment. Thank you, AMP, for helping me along the journey of becoming the best version of myself!

I couldn't recommend AMP Association highly enough. Two years ago, I had another injury from running - my primary form of physical activity since playing sports in high school and college - and needed to find another outlet while I healed. After trying a few different gyms around SM + Venice, AMP Association stood head and shoulders above the rest. 1.5 years and 300 classes later and my range of motion has increased, my strength has increased, and I've been lucky enough to have a bunch of new friends. At the start I could not do a pull-up, hold a barbell over my head, or do more than a few seconds on an echo bike. All that has changed thanks to the consistency that comes from wanting to show up everyday. Shoutout to my coaches...Juvie, Sara, Zack, Gus, Nadya...all legends who have taught me more in a year and a half than I'd ever known before. Thank you to Ahnna and Alex for starting this gym and letting me be a part of it! PS > My rescue dog Frannie has also found a home at AMP, where every single person has helped reintroduce her to a world full of love.

Cannot recommend Amp enough to anyone living in west LA. The coaches are great and the workouts are challenging, but the two things I love most about Amp are the culture and community.
It is nearly impossible to find a gym that isn’t centered around “burning calories,” “earning your dessert,” or encouraging members to strive for thinness/to look a certain way. There is NEVER any conversation about striving to look any type of way at Amp, the goal is to get stronger and that is made clear through the programming and conversations in class between members and coaches alike. It’s an inclusive gym where everyone is welcome regardless of how you look or what your strength level is.
The community is what has kept me coming back for the two years I’ve had a membership. The owners’ commitment to scheduling socials monthly and skill-building workshops creates time for members to connect in an organic way that does not feel forced at all. If you asked me why I enjoy working out, I would tell you it’s because I get to move my body outside with my friends and my dedicated “workout” time has also become my social time. This place really is the best!!

I stumbled upon Amp by chance during COVID-19 in 2020, and I'm grateful I did. Ahnna & Alex are extremely knowledgeable, and, perhaps more importantly, they have created a great gym culture at Amp. All of the coaches (Lea, Nick, Harold, Jake, and Juvie) are excellent, and I've picked up a lot of great tips from them. Regardless of the coach or the scheduled workout for the day, you know the coach will help you perfect your form while pushing you to get better.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but AMP is too good of a lively gym (indoors and outdoors) to not spread the word. I recommend AMP for anyone looking to get stronger and increase cardiovascular endurance alongside coaches and members who have a positive growth mindset.
I've been a member here for less than 1 year. Although I've been a part of 2 other CrossFit gyms (and AMP isn't even branded as a CrossFit gym), my biggest PRs took place here. Consistent attendance generally leads to gains, but [*good* structured programming + coaching cues + coaching attitude] can also contribute how fast you make those gains.
AMP excels in cultivating a positive community around simple values - get healthy, be strong, stay consistent, (but most importantly), have fun. "Community" is more than just getting a bunch of people in the same place together and paying for the same thing. The owners of AMP go above-and-beyond to connect with every individual and the local neighborhood. There's an insane amount of accountability that's built between both regular and newer members. Everyone roots for each other, and it's kinda like the "Cheers" theme song "Where Everybody Knows Your Name".
While AMP has less sq. footage compared to other facilities, it's extremely effective with nurturing a fit-fam environment that feeds those who seek to be pushed beyond their comfort zone, who thrive on communal support, and enjoy casual competition here and there.
If you're not a social butterfly, AMP's programming alone will keep you entertained. It's creatively designed so you're not burning out the same muscle group on back-to-back days (issue at my last gym), and there's real intention behind it that's well-explained (many gyms don't do this well). The programming doesn't feel redundant, and the movements can be modified for those with mobility issues or recovering from injury.
Parking has never been an issue for me. Meters on Olympic is free before 9am and after 6pm, and there's a few open spots just in front. I bike here about 50% of the time, and just lock it to the racks they have outdoors.

Have been coming for a few months and love the gym! I’ve gone to other “crossfit style” places in the past and have never found one with such a strong community, great owners, and fantastic workouts for both strength and cardio. Highly recommend!

I have easily taken over 30 different group fitness classes in LA. Being a personal trainer and fitness instructor, I am hard pressed to pay money for classes.
Yet here we are, four months later! Great training, great coaches, and very COVID safe. I have learned a lot that I apply with my own clients, as well. Y'all are great!

Enjoyed my time at Amp Assoc mostly because of the community I found there. Always had a great workout to start my day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with making adjustments for any movements that I found too difficult or suffering from an injury. Best gym and community in Santa Monica

AMP Fitness Rocks! Every single instructor is positive, easy to work with and knowledgeable. I use to go to a ‘normal’ gym and won’t be going back. The class programming is excellent and it’s very motivating to workout with the group. People cheer each other on and push each to do their best. The owners Alex and Ahnna are super cool and are extremely helpful. It’s obvious through their passion that they care about their business and making sure everyone is happy and getting the best results. Highly Recommend!

Amp is truly an amazing gym with amazing owners! I have been going to Amp for almost two years now, and it has been the best decision for my health and fitness. From day one, the owners Alex and Ahnna, made sure I felt welcomed and supported. At the start of Covid, they made a smooth and safe transition into outdoor training, implemented new cleaning protocols, and took responsible precautions putting the safety of their members first. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and provide challenging workouts which can be scaled to ability. I cannot say enough amazing things about Amp as a gym, the owners, and community of members. Amp recently received a negative review by someone who didn’t get a refund for unused days of their membership (which is absolutely absurd) ...I wonder if this Kelly Merydith also asks Netflix to refund her for days she doesn’t watch a movie?

I'm don't think I can put into words just how amazing Amp is.. I joined the gym in June and after one class, I was hooked. I never enjoyed working out, partly because some gyms are intimidating or the people are very judgmental. I never felt that way during a workout. The coaches are extremely helpful, supportive, and motivating. The members are always there for support during your workout and the gym really feels like a family!
By joining amp, I gained confidence in myself, strength both mentally and physically, learned more about my health and body, and I love working out now!
I moved out of state in November and leaving the gym was the hardest part of leaving California. I don't think another gym can replace Amp!
The precautions taken to protect the coaches and members are taken seriously and makes working out enjoyable while being safe. They also have clear guidelines on cancellations/ late fees and the money collected from those get donated to charity.. safe to say I’ve had a few rough mornings and contributed to the donation but the policies help keep members accountable for their actions.
If you're new to working out or a gym rat, Amp is for everyone!

I started coming to AMP in June on their free trial and was instantly hooked. I now have been a member at the gym for about 7 months. My whole life I viewed working out as a job or chore but after coming to AMP I can truly say I love working out. I have never been so motivated and excited to workout.
Alex and Ahana have created such an amazing community and environment for all levels. AMP has pushed me to heights I never thought I could have achieved. The workouts are challenging and always dynamic. Very grateful to have found AMP during such a hard year, thank you Alex and Ahana for starting this gym and community!

Community & belonging matters for successful fitness businesses, and Alex & Ahnna have applied themselves wholeheartedly to building and nurturing this community since I started with a trial membership in Oct 2019.
From the balance of likability & professionalism of the coaches, to the clean, modern facilities, to the resourceful ways they've kept our community healthy, safe and (most importantly) together during COVID, I've gone from a 2x weekly member to a 6x weekly member, as well as adding my husband to the community as well.
With Amp's coaching & class format, I've been become more confident with my technique to the extent I no longer need 1:1 training, and I've come to appreciate & understand where I may have been applying myself to other forms of training that weren't ultimately beneficial to my health & wellbeing, or to my overall self-confidence.
If you're after a gym with healthy doses of competition, competency & community, Amp Assoc is the place for you.

What a freaking gym! Great management, great crew, and fun workouts. The owners also contribute to the community they live and work in. They regularly donate to local causes and publicly speak out about causes they believe in and stand by. If you are in the area check them out!

Very expensive, awful cancellation fees and unclear policies. Clearly a newer business. Owners are not kind and are control freaks who tried to micromanage students. The workouts were either okay or extremely difficult. But overall just bad vibes from management. I did not feel good supporting this small business and absolutely regret joining. The owner will also annoyingly text you everyday.

I joined Amp roughly 7 months ago (can’t believe it’s already been 7 months!) after 5+ years of crossfit and still feel challenged each day I walk into the gym. Alex and Ahnna have built a community of people who strive to beat their best and have fun while doing it. Not only is the programming varied and functional, but the facility and equipment are top notch. Brand new, clean, and well maintained.

I've been going to AMP for almost a year and I truly love being a part of this gym! The owners and coaches are super friendly and knowledgeable. I find that a lot of gyms will just go over the movement once (if at all) and expect you to figure it out, but at AMP, they really take the time to go over everything with you and monitor progress. They've also taken the initiative to really build a strong community with fun monthly socials and competitions. I highly recommend this gym!

AMP is the best! I came in with no experience lifting weights and I was pleasantly surprised with the comfortable atmosphere AMP has. Its beginner and expert athlete friendly, definitely unique in that way. Plus, all the coaches are amazing, patient and super fun. If I'm ever having a hard day and come in for class, it takes my mind off of BS and improves my mood every time!

Just took my first class today on a Sunday and it was just what I needed to start my day well.
It was a light class but it still felt the quick..
the trainer was very knowledgeable and sweet (which makes total diference). She kept correcting us where needed as well as acknowledging when we were doing it right.
The place has great energy and the clientele seemed all very friendly (another positive aspect).
We ended with a 5 minute yoga strecht that was very much neeeded.
Pretty happy with my trial, definitely coming back.
The design of the association is pretty nice and welcoming and the red and black gave a very nice look.

If you're looking for more than just a gym and to achieve more physically than you ever thought possible, then Amp is the place! Amazing coaches and community - everyone is so supportive and dedicated. Ahnna and Alex really go the distance to ensure every member feels valued and reaches their full potential in every workout - no matter their fitness level. Workouts, equipment, facility and location are all awesome...
Now when are you guys going to open up in more cities so I can train there all the time?!

My friends and I have been going to Amp consistently for about four months now, and have all noticed that our butts look GREAT. For that, Amp can have all my money...
On a more serious note, Amp is the first gym that actually gets me excited to get up and work out 5-6 mornings a week. I am 30 years old and have never in my life been more consistent in setting aside time to exercise as I have been since I joined this gym. Every class is different and pushes you to be your best, so you never get bored and (safely) learn what your body and mind are made of. Few experiences feel better than thinking that you do not have the strength/endurance to finish a workout, but then your awesome coaches encourage you and push you to not only finish, but leave knowing that you are both mentally and physically stronger than you thought.
The community is amazing as well. The owners, coaches, and members are all really good people that support and genuinely care about each other. That is a huge part of what makes this place so great.
There are no shortcuts. These are not Kardashian workouts. You will sweat, sometimes your lungs will burn, you will push yourself to your limits... and you will love the results.

Amp Association is nothing like any other gym/box out there—and I mean that in a great way. From my experiences with other forms of gym, I realized that I never get motivated enough to keep going because they’re just that—a structure that you go to to workout and leave. Honestly, this works perfectly fine for most people but that’s just not for me. Alex and Ahnna created this atmosphere of camaraderie that personally keeps me interested.
I have been struggling with my weight for a long time as much as I’ve struggled with keeping up on going to the gym. However, I have been going here for almost 4 months now, and I am still regularly going to this day.
Finally, the other thing that keeps me motivated is seeing results. since joining, I have lost weight, gained muscles, gotten stronger, and gotten better with my technique. The owners really do focus on form and having smaller classes help them help us. The workouts are not easy either. however as their philosophy says, ‘there is no shortcuts’ and it truly works.
There’s no way I could overstate how welcoming the owners and current members are to beginners as well as new members. I would definitely recommend this for everyone.

I love Amp Association for several different reasons:
1. I felt extremely welcomed by the owners, Alex and Ahnna, who both personally reached out to make sure that I was enjoying the classes, getting signed up for the class times I wanted, and asking how I felt after the workouts. This was all during the 10-class trial that they offered when they first opened. The coaches are each awesome and unique in their own coaching style, but every single one of them is checking the members on form and technique. And they will give you the feedback and critiques necessary to improve and get stronger.
2. The community reflects the owners and the coaches: everybody that attends classes are encouraging, motivates others during the exercises, and actually want to have a fun time while working up a sweat.
3. But the MOST IMPORTANT reason Amp has me as a founding member is this: I am seeing results! I am stronger, I am faster, and I can tell I've put on muscle.
While reasons 1 and 2 above are amazing and contribute to why I love coming in to class, at the end of the day, I am paying to attend group workout classes that will give me results. Attending Amp with consistency will get you to your goals, so why not do it in a fun setting with awesome people who are driven by the same goals? Come to class, sweat a lot, maybe join some fellow gym members at happy hour that evening, and you'll see why people become members at Amp.

I HIGHLY recommend this gym! The space is great, workouts are challenging, and trainers are very knowledgeable. I've worked out at similar gyms around Santa Monica, but I've seen those crowding too many people into a class such that trainers can't help people with their form and to the point of risking injuries. Amp is for all levels - beginners or advanced, everyone will get a great workout and learn something new. Plus classes are fun with their strong sense of community and the owners are the best!!

AMP association offers great HIIT classes that are both effective in both building strength and burning fat. My favorite part of this gym is how focused the instructors are on technique, especially with the more intricate barbell movements. I always feel like I am in good hands here and would recommend for anyone who wants to get in better shape to check this place out!

The team who runs this gym are amazing. They are personal check in with you over text (which apparently someone didn’t like, boohoo, don’t sign up for a personal trainer if you don’t want someone to reach out to you) and motivating while also being respectful and supportive. The website and sign up tech is great and I love how much work they put into formulating creative workouts each week. If you can’t make it to a class you’ve sign up for you can easily opt out. One of the only gyms I went to as a “free trial” member where the trial was actually free ($3 is basically free) and they weren’t just trying to bait and switch me into paying for full membership upfront. They even gave us all gifts for a special Christmas themed class! The classes were intimidating initially but I couldn’t believe how quickly we finished and how much of a result I saw in just 3 classes. Wish I could stick with these guys but I moved away from the area. Definitely try them out if you want a personalized and effective gym.

I can’t say enough about this gym and the owner’s behind it all. They promote such a sense of camaraderie, community and an encouraging atmosphere. The programs will challenge you and push you to your limit; you’ll certainly see results if you put in the work. Alex and Ahnna are both so personable and you’ll get to workout alongside them from time to time; they practice what they preach and that kind of energy is contagious. Love this place - I use to go to the spin studio that was located here so I ended up on Amp’s email list when they opened - which turned out to be a great thing!
They offer challenging workouts that I haven’t done before, and walk/talk the class through them so I feel supported and well set up for trying new things. (I’m a yogi, I didn’t know I could lift heavy weights, ha)
I generally take Ashley’s classes, she and the owners have awesome energy, really enjoy the community they’re building!

Nikki Butler,
By you not signing out of a class & not showing up for the workout, I missed out on a spot in class. It is a small gym & there has to be a cap.
Alex has set up a system where each member is accountable for their own fitness Journey.
We sign in for class & sign out if we can't make it. Simple.
Communities work together!
