Anchor Strength is a small boutique fitness studio located in Alameda, CA. We offer personalized, safe, and effective one-on-one strength training. Using medical grade MedX weight machines and a slow motion, high intensity approach, training at Anchor Strength can help you achieve incredible fitness results in less than 30 minutes per week. MedX machines are the only FDA registered medical strengthening devices in the US and are often used in medical rehabilitation centers. During a typical Anchor Strength workout, you will be guided through a full body strength training program in under 30 minutes. You will be the only client working out on the gym floor, ensuring an optimal and personalized training experience.

Anchor Strength doesn't have to offer a generous complimentary first session, but they do, and it was fabulous. I got a great workout in and we moved at a pace that felt strong, but safe at all times. I felt listened to, I felt I was in very capable and attentive hands, and I felt like I couldn't wait to come back and do it again! Thank you, Jeff!

Jeff is an exceptional trainer. Professional, encouraging, and pushes you past what you *think* your limits are. He is full of wisdom and knowledge about orthopedics and health. I've really enjoyed seeing my muscles again, and have also noticed that my chronic knee pain is gone. Five stars! Jeff is a gem!

Jeff at Anchor Strength Training is an exceptional coach and fitness trainer. His approach includes providing supportive and meticulous guidance during each exercise, complete with clear explanations of the muscle groups being targeted. The facility itself significantly enhances the training experience. It is a private, immaculately clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment, featuring top-of-the-line MedX equipment and thoughtfully curated decor and music. I just turned 80 and was feeling like I needed to improve overall strength and balance. I just started training at Anchor Strength and love it. Why?
- The machines are safer than the health club ones. Extra padding/seat belts for less moving.
- Machine settings are customized for your body and adjusted so muscles can be isolated without straining or hurting yourself.
- Jeff guides you through each machine so you can work to fatigue with isolated muscles.
The whole process is different than anything I have tried before. I feel more confident walking already and will be able to measure improvement over time. It is a good investment for me!

I’ll have to update this when I’ve had some time to make progress but I had my first session with Jeff and I’m thrilled at the experience and potential Anchor Strength offers for the goals I have. Jeff is so attentive, experienced, and was able to tailor to my exact (admittedly specific) needs. He was encouraging and I left feeling so surprised at what I’m capable of in the strength training department. I’m looking very much forward to incorporating the method he offers into my routine to get results. I love how efficient this training method is, and I learned a ton today too, which is saying something as I’ve been an athlete throughout life, and especially in recent years. I feel great after my first training session with Jeff, motivated, and capable of meeting my goals. Here’s to a few months of training to see what kind of progress I can make. Will update as I go! Definitely try out Anchor Strength. There are a lot of choices in alameda, this fits my goals and schedule, and I love supporting local west end businesses when and where possible. Enjoy! I found Jeff online through Google, and I had a great time in my session with him. As a chiropractor, his approach is exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to working out, and what I would recommend for my patients who are looking to do strength training. I have never done weight training / strength training like this before and Jeff makes it approachable, educational, and super effective. Jeff was so attentive to my particular needs and limitations and made a routine that is getting me stronger, moving better and keeping me injury free. Jeff is the best!! Admittedly, I have a history of strength training and general athletics, but it's been over a decade. Jeff has not only quickly and comfortably eased me back into the practice, he's allowed me to feel almost immediate progress. His techniques were very new and different from my historical, more conventional practice. But honestly, after halfway through the first session, it clicked as to why it works. I am now a few months in, and the progress is also visual, even at only one 30-minute workout a week!!! I had back pain going into the first session, and was quite tentative to push things. I haven't had any pain since that first workout. Unbelievable. I never would have imagined it possible, especially given my history of 3-5 days a week plans that translated to minimal results. Deciding to work with Jeff was a very smart move. I can't wait to see what a year's worth of work looks like. Anchor Strength is a NO BRAINER! I recommend that everyone give it a shot. While I do have a relevant history, it is easy to see how this strength training approach is translatable to folks with zero athletic or strength training history. Jeff takes you where you are, and builds on that. Can't recommend it enough!

I am 77 years old and I have been training in this method for over 3 years now with Jeff as my personal trainer. As a result, my muscle tone has increased, I have excellent balance, and I feel strong and vital. Even though I have arthritis in my knee, I rarely if ever feel pain and I rarely have colds or flu even though I hang around with 7 year olds. Jeff is highly trained, sensitive and attuned to changes that need to be made to accommodate whatever might be going on in my body on a particular day. I've trained with Jeff for a year. He is excellent at helping push me and my wife while making sure that we maintain safe form. He uses the best machines. I still go to other gyms. However, I get far more out of working with him to urge me on while always checking my posture. To be clear, Anchor Strength isn't an ordinary gym. Jeff doesn't have a basketball court. He is focused on helping you get stronger. He has a specific approach using slow lifting. He is able to work so that I don't have any more reps possible without allowing any compromise in form. He will help with your breathing through your lift.
I've also taken advantage of his knowledge of Indian clubs to help rehabilitate my shoulders. I'd watched some YouTube videos on how to use Indian clubs. Having Jeff demonstrate and check me, was what I needed.
In summary, Jeff is a great trainer if you want to get stronger.

I’ve been training with Jeff for about two years and highly recommend working with him. He doesn’t waste a minute, with a very good sense for when to push me past what I think I can do and when to respect whatever limitations my body might be reaching on a given day.
The super slow style of training has completely changed my life for the better, and it takes a great trainer to find the balance between intensity and safety. I fully trust Jeff’s expertise and good judgment. Plus, he’s just a good dude who’s fun to talk to and supportive, whether I’m having a breakthrough workout or just showing up and doing my best.
