Hey Vera, you are in your head. You must have not done your research about what “Bikram” is? Might want to. It’s a no frills true yoga practice. This is a wonderful studio and very grateful we still have Bikram in SD.

I took the 60-min and 90-min hot yoga classes at this location. For new members, they offer unlimited clases for 2 weeks. Highly recommended.

I recently started attending Anda Yoga House as a newcomer to the studio, and unfortunately, my experience with the instructor Mira Portents has been consistently disappointing across three separate classes.

From the very beginning, Mira was unapproachable and dismissive. When I asked clarifying questions—as any beginner might—she didn’t answer them with patience or clarity. Instead, she brushed them off by saying I “live in my head” and should simply “keep going.” This pattern repeated in each class.

During my most recent session, I asked her a very specific question about the breathing technique we were doing at the start of the class. She had spoken so quickly during the instructions that I couldn't follow. I wanted to understand whether we were supposed to breathe through the throat or not—because the technique feels completely different depending on that. I also explained that if I’m not using my throat, I don’t understand how to increase the inhale properly, which made the entire exercise ineffective for me. Her response was, once again, vague and dismissive: “I gave instructions. Just listen better and come again.”

Importantly, Mira Portents was aware from day one that I came to yoga after physical trauma, with chronic pain and a sense of disconnection from my body. I told her that I need to rebuild a healthy movement pattern from the ground up. Instead of showing empathy or offering adjustments, she continued to repeat the same phrase—“Don’t live in your head”—without actually helping me build the bodily awareness that I explicitly said I lacked.

I was especially shocked that someone who claims over 10 years of experience in yoga hasn’t developed the basic qualities of kindness, patience, or sensitivity to others' needs—especially when dealing with new students or those recovering from trauma.

If you're new to the studio or looking for an instructor who will support your growth with compassion, I strongly recommend choosing a different teacher.

I have been coming to this studio since moving to San Diego three years ago, and it has become my go-to spot for yoga. There aren’t many places in the area that offer this specific style of yoga, and it’s a gem for those who enjoy the original hot yoga (Bikram yoga). This unique practice involves a series of 26 postures and two breathing methods, performed over 90 minutes in a room heated to over 105°F (41°C) with 40%+ humidity. For those who prefer a shorter session, they also offer a 60-minute version. It’s not your typical vinyasa flow found in many studios around San Diego, making it a standout option for dedicated practitioners and curious newcomers alike.

The studio is smaller but thoughtfully arranged to ensure appropriate spacing between mats. While the heat and humidity can feel overwhelming, especially in a full class, focusing on your mat and staying present helps immensely. Remember to breathe, be mindful, and take a rest if you need to—it’s all part of the process. By the end of the class, you’ll feel like a million bucks, having literally sweat your soul out. Make sure to bring plenty of water and towels to stay hydrated and comfortable throughout the session.

The staff is wonderful, though some are more approachable than others. Overall, they are knowledgeable and supportive, creating a positive environment for everyone. I highly recommend Mira’s class—she is an incredibly kind and welcoming instructor who goes above and beyond to ensure everyone feels supported, especially when the heat becomes intense. Her warmth and encouragement truly enhance the experience and make it even more rewarding.

If you’re considering trying original hot yoga or are already a fan, this studio is a must-visit. It’s privately owned, and supporting a local business like this not only benefits your practice but also helps keep this unique offering available in San Diego. Give it a try—you’ll leave feeling transformed, both physically and mentally.

Love Anda! Have had really bad back pain in the past, and it's almost completely gone since going to Anda. It's clean, traditional, all the instructors are the *BEST* and there's parking :) There's also a Yin by Jake that is straight heavenly.
Definitely recommend!

Bad yoga. Every teacher uses different instructions. Many times teachers offer conflicting instructions for the same postures.

Tried a class here last weekend with Jake, the hour express. Would definitely recommend. Class was active and the heat was exactly what you want from hot yoga. The facility itself is on the small side, but has everything you need for a class. Easy parking next to the entrance, which is in the back of the shopping complex.

I’ve been coming to this studio over the years and have always been so happy with the Bikram style of yoga which has elevated much back pain and the caring instructors. Today had been an especially challenging day for me. I was so looking forward to my class with Koko. On my way to class my son called me to help him deal with his car insurance and a small fender bender, then my daughter was calling me to help her with her homework…plus dealing with some medical billing issues and working all day. As I was heading to class I decided to not go and help my kiddos out instead. I was fully expecting to just lose the class credit. I didn’t even try to get a refund. To my surprise Koko canceled my class and gave me back credit for the class. Sometimes it’s the small thing that put a smile on ones face. I’ve only had the pleasure of taking Koko’s class once, but loved it and am looking forward to many more. This studio and its instructors exemplify the caring, nurturing yogi philosophy!

I love heated yoga and this yoga house makes it easy, simple and fun to be part of a wonderful yoga community. I’ve been coming here since 2019. Even when COVID-19 hit they still continued virtually. I highly recommend.

I have been practicing Bikram on and off for 8 years in a couple of different states and have never found a community as special as BYMM. Each member of the staff is unique and has brought my practice back to life! The owner, Jen is wonderful and I hope she knows how much she is appreciated!!!

I have heard that Bikram Yoga is a life changer. You don't know until you try, everyday or least as often as you can. I can proudly say that it has been a life changer for me and I am only in the beginning stages. There is no judgement here, it is all about YOU! Everyone is helpful, motivating and kind. This is a life long practice, a practice to your own perfection..here's to many more years to come into the betterment of me.

It's unfortunate that one inappropriate female yoga instructor can ruin a reputation of a studio. Luckily for her, I didn't get her name. I got a 10 class groupon and the 1st time i went there was a very nice male instructor who introduced himself to me and welcomed me. The 2nd and last time I went, a blonde, rude, inappropriate, female instructor treated another customer badly in front of me. The customer said he was in college and was on a budget. His 1 month pass expired.
The yoga instructor said "I'm not RETARDED. I went to college too. We have to pay rent here. And I'm trying to give you a deal here (on a $80/month membership)."
I don't care who you are or what ur financial situation is. No one should say offensive words. And no one should tell a customer all that. It's unnecessary. That is a horrible sales pitch. Nasty woman. I don't care I have 8 classes left. I'm not going there. Horrible ethics.

Wonderful studio. Every teacher gives me something in terms of form, energy, or discipline that improves my practice. This is a great workout folks and the fees are pretty modest relative to the intensity of the workout.
