I come almost exclusively for the pool, and if there were another affordable place to swim near where I live, I would never come back to this place.

I hope the lifeguards have better training in saving people's lives than dealing with patrons. The attitude coming off of most of them gives me the impression that if I were actually in danger, they'd be mad at me for needing their help.

The other customers at the Anderson Munger Family YMCA are very inconsiderate. They sit on their phones for up to 8 minutes between sets, watching YouTube and scrolling Facebook. I've timed it. And it cuts across generations: teenagers and boomers alike are all guilty. No one puts weights back to where they are labeled. And everyone uses the most in-demand machines in ways that could easily be achieved by others. This YMCA is an exercise in frustration, all because of the other members.

AC has not been functioning properly for over a year now. If you actually like working out, this place is beyond uncomfortable and you’ll be extra, extra sweaty.

I really don’t understand why the air conditioning at this gym is only turned on around 11 a.m. during the hottest months of August and September. Every morning, so many people come to work out, but the AC is never on. This is a gym, not a sauna. It’s extremely frustrating and uncomfortable to exercise in this heat. On top of that, the number of fans is far too few for a building of this size. It makes no sense that the AC is only fully running after lunchtime. I’m very upset, and I will definitely be leaving a complaint about this.

I’m writing this review out of concern and disappointment about the treatment my child has received at the YMCA childcare. My child is often the only African American child there, and there is a particular staff member who repeatedly mishandles interactions with him. Rather than gently redirecting him, she often just takes things away or isolates him from the group.

Today, I arrived to find my child crying alone for 30 out of the 50 minutes that he had been there, with no one comforting him. I actually had to step in myself, console him, and show the staff member how to gently guide him back to an activity. She was surprised at how well he responded just with a bit of kindness and patience.

I hope the YMCA will address this and train their staff to treat young children with the care, empathy they deserve and not traumatize preschoolers.

The place is very nice, the administrative staff is very good, but there are 3 things that are wrong.
1-that the people who enter the pool area wear shoes and that is bad because of the viruses, since we are vulnerable.
2-when you make an appointment at the pools there is no time control..
3-When the people leave the bathroom they are not going to take the bath in the shower. And the people in charge are distracted from what is happening..

Taking Carmalita's cycling class is a love letter to both your future lower and upper body too. She's a great instructor who keeps it fun with music and moves that make it feel more like a night out than a workout. Even a leg day skipper like myself can't help but come back for more. Probably because it's the perfect combination of legs, self-paced cardio and optional weight lifting all under an hour. So check it out and thank me later but you're already welcome!

I am a former member of a great YMCA on Long Island. I was hesitant to join because it didn’t seem very diverse, but the front desk gave me a pass to visit at different times to see if I liked it and felt comfortable. They listened and were very kind.

Today, Friday May 2, 2025, I thought I’d see if I liked one of the YMCA’s close to home. I felt extremely uncomfortable and an unfriendly vibe from the team here. At first I spent time trying to give all my information to try to prove I was a member from almost 10 months ago in NY. While $55/month for an adult is a competitive rate for the area, it is still a monthly fee that should just come with friendliness. I had to ask for information on membership and just to highlight that they didn’t try to tell me, I asked if I can get it online. The representative said yes. She then told me I can take a picture. The staff talk more to themselves than to guests. The representative who started to help me greeted members more enthusiastically but he failed to tell me his shift was near over. I have no idea what happened to my personal information. I’m extremely disappointed.

If you are a current member and a black woman or man, it would be great to read a review about your experience. I didn’t feel welcomed and it was uncomfortable. I’m used to higher vibe gyms and YMCA’s. This one seems to only want to serve certain members of the community. The facility is nice & clean. The weight equipment seems good, there’s one platform and one rack upstairs for barbell work. If it gets crowded the weight rooms may get stuffy. I couldn’t get any info on PT programs because it just felt uncomfortable asking questions. It felt like they want you to leave. Well at least as a black person. It may differ for other people. I’m just sad this is one of the closest Y’s & the vibes aren’t consistent.

I recently joined this gym and I am so pleased with the decision! I was hesitant after reading some of the other reviews I’ve seen online, but my experience has been wholly positive.
Mostly, I love the family atmosphere! There are people of all ages and levels of fitness present, from grandparent types to small children going to the child care center. I am a swimmer, and while the pool is busy and you must plan ahead to get a lane, I haven’t had any problems figuring out the system.
The staff from the front desk to the lifeguards have been friendly and helpful. If you are considering joining, I totally recommend it!

I have been a member since 2007, starting in San Diego, where the classes were professional, as here, but not plentiful. . I also attended 24 hour fitness to make up for the lack of BodyPumps and Strength Training. Now, having moved here recently, I feel I am running into the same issue. Too many Dance classes and not enough Or none, to be exact, Bodypump nor Strength Training. The Y used to have a SET class. That was replaced with a cycle class. I do cycle but I feel that now I’m faced with the issue of traveling amongst 3 gyms to get the training that is best for me. If it weren’t for the Water classes at the East ValleY Y with Will, the Strength Training with Jacob & Armando & Everett’s Cycle classes, I’d probably hang up my Y. membership. My hope is that the Y will offer more of what members need.

I’ve been a member of the YMCA for a while, but after my recent experience with Harrison at the front desk, I’m seriously considering canceling my membership. I went to ask for help with my barcode, and Harrison was unbelievably rude. He told me to go to the YMCA Hollywood location instead and seemed shocked that I was even a member. When I mentioned my account, he asked if I knew the password, even though there’s a photo of me on the account. He didn’t seem to like my attitude and became very impatient and short with me, which is when my attitude shifted. To make matters worse, after this interaction, he deactivated my account without any explanation. The complete lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect is unacceptable. I expect far better from an organization like the YMCA that’s supposed to value its members. I’ll be taking my membership elsewhere if this is how customers are treated just because you don’t know how to solve a very simple technical issue that sometimes can get frustrating you just don’t tell a customer to go to the next one. That’s not how you treat someone especially in a place like ymca. I have my little cousins that goes there it’s supposed to be safe space for families and kids. I was very very disappointed with how I was being treated.

The people that run this are thieves. I needed to place a hold on my membership and did so online through December. today Nov 2, I got charged for the membership fee! I took screenshot of the hold confirmation email from Oct 15 and my bank screenshot today and hope it takes less than 5 business days to read my email and then finally refund my fee? I’ve been the Y member since 2016 if remember correctly. I wanted to say it used to be better but …Due to my personal experience as an Asian(not Korean) in the facility, some front desk staff like to gossip which is very inappropriate not only in a workplace, but this is a Christian Association and lately they haven’t been showing any Real Christian Value. They need to stop being judgmental and looking down on anyone that different from them. Everyone should be treated equally. But nah, they pick and choose, EXTREMELY BIAS.

Also as of Sunday June 23 2024 in between the hour of 11 am to 11 40 window. I went there just to use restroom since I am a member. It was all empty in the family locker room.

This janitor that works at that date and time, had the intention to harass me by following me to the family locker room not too long after I just started to do my personal business( he saw me since I was walking into the facility because he was right there by the front desk), and acted like he needed to clean so bad. He created all these nuisances such as dragging strolling the bin and his equipment loudly into the family locker room. He was hovering around my door, had his key chains jingling as if we are in a prison. He clean that rusty moldy lockers and slammed them loudly (loud enough that it echoes in the hallway), he came by the paper towel dispenser which located by the room that I was using, and he started to whistle his music loudly and annoying. When someone is using restroom they supposed to feel unbothered, not this place. After that I finished my personal business, the yellow mop bucket was in the middle of the walkway in the locker room, as I was walking out he was just standing there at the janitor room right next to the Child Activity Center. So, I decided to walk there to the comment box and wrote down my feedback and dropped it right there where the front desk staffs could see. But guess what?, instead of him started to clean since he was waiting for me to come out of the family locker restroom. After that, he followed right behind me, as if he knew that I was writing something about his practice, the staffs should be able to see that as well unless they try to turn their cheeks. Then he stared to clean the women restroom by the front desk instead and tried to act like everything is fine. This is not the first time. This janator likes to hover around the restroom door rushing me to leave just so he can clean. It’s called RESTROOM not RUSHROOM. The funny part is that out of all the time that he could clean, he chooses to do it when I am using it, intentionally harassing me like a creep. This needs to stop. They need to retrain them. Stop just being all nice and overly friendly and act super pretentious like there’s something in the closet because there is! I want to blame the employees but the people that should take action and be responsible for incidents like this should be blamed because they are the one who hired them without throughly background checks. I don’t need to be contacted back. I just need to see some change. If possible, they should remove him from the facility.

You know what, the gym is great! The pool is great and majority of the staff is great but lately I have is embarrassing and demeaning issues at this facility and when I reach out to the supervisor here she has yet to contact me. I feel they need to retrain and revamp the staff here. Especially if they are sitting in management positions . I had a manager belittle me and embarrass me intentionally in from of his other staff and other patriots when I was just coming in to make a payment. I told Tia m, one of the managers and emailed Cyndi another supervisor but no one has yet called. I have been attending the Anderson munger location for 2 months now. I am injured and on crutches so I have only been using the sauna area. today the director of aquatics was extremely rude to me and harassing me, discriminating against me, and ruined my entire day, she tried reprimanding like I was a child, in front of everyone at the pool which made me feel embarrassed & I didn't appreciate at all. this treatment was because I wear shorts instead of bathing suit bottoms, which she had such an issue with. Instead of figuring out a solution as director she chose to harass me.. even after I told her OKAY.. it was very uncomfortable experience, and I also noticed her talking to another employee about me, (I know this to be true because they both were looking at me as they talked) which Again is rude. I'm extremely upset and I felt uncomfortable. And still no one has contacted me back because I did ask to speak with someone. NOT A GOOD FEELING FROM A NON-PROFIT FAMILY PLACE.

This review is NOT specific to the gym, but rather to the food-volunteer site. As far as I am concerned, this place is OK at best. Some of the vegetables, especially the squash come really old and smushy. After being a member at the Glendale YMCA for about six months now, I wanted to leave a positive review to offset my bad one. This facility might be smaller than the Glendale YMCA, but it is well kept/clean, with amazing, friendly staff! The COVID protocols were actually followed here (I ended my membership summer 2021 because I moved, so can’t speak to the current status). My favorite thing was them moving older equipment outdoors to the second floor of the parking garage as well as the basketball court on the roof of the garage. Pool/sauna/hot tub area was always clean and well maintained with extremely friendly lifeguards that always had smiles on their faces. A great family environment as well! I very much miss this place!

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s very clean, the staff is friendly, they have most equipment I need, and an indoor pool and sauna which I love.

That being said, it’s cramped, it’s small, there’s not enough room for as many people go there at peak hours.

Another thing that I don’t like is since covid they changed the hours so that it closes at 8 pm, it’s closed for 3 hours in the middle of the day and it’s closed weekends.

There is no reason to keep the hours like this from what I see!

This place has improved slightly, but still has issues with the pool regulation. I see few people wearing regular clothing and underwear into the pool or the spa, which is disturbing.

Pool is accessible when you avoid busy times and know when it is not too crowded.
