The new manager Blake and trainer Jairus have been a huge help in getting me back in shape. They’ve both been so considerate and patient with me. I wasn’t sure about switching to this gym after leaving my last one, and honestly, if it weren’t for Blake, I probably wouldn’t have. But now that I have, I can honestly say it’s one of the best choices I’ve made this year.

My comments are in regards to the new management only. Was very frustrated with old management but now Blake Nelson is turning it around for the San Clemente location. He was at San Juan Capo for 3 years and they have good reviews. He heard what lack of response and poor management /no customer service I had dealt with but today he handled everything I needed graciously and promptly. He heard my concerns about gym needing to be cleaner and he is working on it. Don’t judge this location on past but now give Blake a chance to turn it around for the better 😉💪🏻

Beware when you cancel they won't and will continue to invoice you for services not rendered. I worked out here for years, always paid in advance then cancelled because the gyms too small and management turnover. The equipment is not that great either and they don't have basic machines for your biceps, triceps and abs. Trainers don't stack their weights when they're done training and they are trying to soak you for $50/month. Go elsewhere and pay less, and save your self a lot of headache when you cancel. Dishonest management at this location.

They sent me to COLLECTIONS after I provided written notice and called to cancel my month-to-month membership (started in 2022 in a different state, but moved to SC). In CA, you have to let customers cancel online, but they didn't allow that option. They then made up a cancellation fee when I never signed a contract agreeing to one and they wouldn't let me cancel despite written notice. They've made no efforts to contact me before collections but happily sent me to collections for a made up number. Their business model clearly relies on retaliating against loyal customers; I paid their gym fees for 8 months after moving and they still came after me. Clearly new management got excited about the prospect of bringing in more profits and coming after cancellations falsely.

Huge gym. Lots of newer equipment and very clean. Bathrooms were spotless, nice large showers, even has a hydromassage. It stays busy late into the night, if you're a traveler be mindful of this. I've noted the negative review from earlier this year regarding hostile behavior towards someone staying the night in the parking lot: this has not been my experience here, and I saw no posted signage stating this was disallowed.

Based on my single experience here, I would highly recommended and would return again.

Formal Complaint and Member Review – Anytime Fitness, San Clemente

To Whom It May Concern:

As a paying member who frequents the San Clemente Anytime Fitness location daily between the hours of 4:30 AM and 5:30 AM, both on weekdays and weekends, I feel compelled to document and share an ongoing and deeply frustrating issue that materially impairs the value of my membership and the integrity of the facility’s shared-use environment.

While I have genuinely appreciated the convenience and accessibility of this location, my ability to utilize key strength-training equipment—specifically the Smith machines used for squats and chest press—is being obstructed by the actions of certain members who display a blatant disregard for communal gym etiquette and basic courtesy.

There is one individual, approximately in his late 60s, who arrives early in the morning driving a white Audi SUV, and without actually using the Smith machine, places a towel on the equipment to falsely “reserve” it, while he proceeds to cycle through other, unrelated exercises across the gym floor—namely back and triceps routines. This conduct effectively monopolizes the machine for extended periods, depriving other members of reasonable access.

Additionally, a younger man—appearing to be in his mid-to-late 30s, driving a white pickup truck, often wearing a baseball cap, wireless earbuds, and a tank top—routinely engages in similar disruptive behavior. On one occasion, while I was using the squat rack near the window to perform ab exercises with straps, this individual approached me from another machine and claimed he was still using that area, despite being visibly engaged elsewhere. He, too, operates under the mistaken belief that he can simultaneously occupy multiple machines, thereby restricting access to others without justification.

This pattern of behavior is not only inconsiderate but fundamentally contravenes the principles of fair and equitable equipment access. The failure to enforce basic policies—such as prohibiting the monopolization of multiple machines—has created a hostile and inefficient workout environment. Members like myself, who adhere to the rules and arrive with the intent to train efficiently and respectfully, are being penalized by the inaction of management.

If this situation is not addressed promptly and decisively—through the implementation and enforcement of a written policy limiting members to one machine at a time and requiring shared access (“working in”) when requested—I, along with others similarly situated, will be forced to consider termination of our memberships in favor of nearby alternatives such as 24 Hour Fitness, which maintains a more professional and structured approach to gym operations.

I have been a member at Anytime Fitness for 15 years and have been working out at the San Clemente location since 2020. What a FANTASTIC gym this has become.

The new Co-Managers, Kim and Cindy are AWESOME. They are focused on providing an outstanding gym facility, and on members having an exceptional workout experience. Kim and Cindy are dedicated to helping members reach their fitness goals and they provide a ton of inspiration and support. They are also incredible Trainers. I see them working successfully with clients of all ages.

The energy in this gym is so positive and vibrant now. New management has made an impressive difference. Members also seem to be dedicated to working out vs scrolling through their phones and tying up equipment which is such a problem in other gyms. This Anytime Fitness is very clean and the equipment is great and kept in excellent condition. The Owners have also made some amazing investments that you can add-on to your membership, including an InfraRed Bed and a Heated Massage Chair.

Truly an outstanding gym and a terrific workout experience!

Joined this gym 2 months ago. It is always clean, has nice natural sunlight and the staff is great. Kim and Cindy are trainers and they are so fun to work with, very motivating. I love this gym especially bc it is not a teenage selfie fashion show. It is never too crowded so I can get in and out without a wait. Highly recommend. Great neighborhood gym

I was planning to leave a five-star review for the clean and spacious shower, which is always a highlight when you're on a long road trip. However, I had an unpleasant interaction with the manager at this San Clemente location.

After parking overnight in the lot—something we've occasionally done during our 6-month road trip across the US—the manager threatened to ban me if I did it again.

I fully understand and respect policies prohibiting overnight parking, and in the past, staff at other locations have kindly communicated this to us without issue. A simple, "Just wanted to let you know we don't allow overnight parking," would have sufficed. The manager's unnecessarily aggressive tone felt uncalled for. There were no signs in the lot. There was one sign on the inside door, but I didn't see it until it was pointed out to me.

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it did put a damper on an otherwise positive experience. That said, the shower was excellent, and I still appreciated that aspect of the visit.

I had originally canceled my membership through Daylon, who was the manager at the time. I guess Daylon quit, and the gym went under new management, and they never ended up canceling my membership. They sent it to collections because I refused to pay since I had already canceled. Figure since they dinged my credit, it's only fair to give them a 1-star review and ding their reputation right back :)

Worst experience ever . My parents canceled their member ship 3 months ago and turned in their fobs with a lady at the front desk . Said everything was taken care of and just wrote down their names and 3 months later .. they have been charged ! They went in last week about the charges and a gentleman confirmed that she indeed did not cancel their accounts and talked them to freezing their account giving them a month worth a refund. Just to find out that they once again charged them !!! And that the freeze would only be 6 months . I have been calling and calling and no one answered or returns calls matter fact some one hung up on my dad twice when asking why they hadn’t canceled . The People at the front need to be properly trained !! They have no phone manner and they are causing so many issues !!! My parents cannot afford to be charged for services that they have not used !!’ If the owner of some one from corporate can call me , I know want all their money returned !! And we will never come here ever again! I have never had issues with any other gyms with canceling membership

Two things: They keep the gym too warm. Management doesn't seem to understand the basic concept: A member can always get warm by layering. But a member cannot get colder unless Management cranks up the AC. Maybe they can't afford the AC or are just too cheap. Or both.

There are 4 bathrooms available. This gym resents their female member and will not allow women to have a female bathroom only. I have offered to pay for a dead bold lock on one bathroom for woman, installation along with 200 keys for their female members. No response. My wife is a physician and is resentful at the managements apathy over dirty bathrooms that smell with pupic hair layering the floors. She is spot on. These bathrooms are worse than public bathrooms at the beach. Managment cares nothing for their female member.

The lights are unbearably bright. Literally was making me feel as though I was going to pass out or go blind from the flickering orlf the high beam LEDs. Some lights are flickering and some have shadows of flan blades pass the lights so that the ground appears to be strobing. When excersisong this is extremely unsettling and caused me a lot of vision problems throughout my exercises. Its like staring at the sunlight. Not to mention the rust in the bathrooms sinks and showers. I would not use the shower here. The place is pretty dirty tbh. The other problem is that there is no foam rollers!!

I had a great experience with this gym while I was in the military until it was time for me to go back home and cancel my membership. I was told systems were down and didn't get my request submitted until weeks after. They still charged me for an additional 2 months since they needed a month for the request to go in and they didn't input my request until whenever it was convenient for them. I was given the managers email so I can ask they don't continue charging me and never heard back from the manager. Probably because I wasn't a priority anymore.

Love this gym for so many reasons! It's apparent the new owners of this gym want us to always have a positive experience - and it really shows! It's thankfully, smaller than the mega gyms, has excellent new Precor machines as they recently did a full remodel. They have a full range of weights and all that apparatus as well. The small things really count too - like the filtered water, the comfortable temperature, the numerous stations with wet wipes; it's my happy place to workout in the early morning!

First for me here. Went with a friend just to check it out. Had everything I needed along with a shower and this is something new. You are in control of your building key. It's on a trust and your word that you will be only one who will use your key. No staff at night that I seen. All in all nice place and they are still open during this lockdown.

I can get an effective workout in with nothing more than dumbbells and a bench. So with my standards this gym gets the job done. I can tell it’s an older Anytime Fitness. My home club in Washington state has a little higher quality but this one won’t disappoint most people. Plenty of floor space to move and do all sorts of exercises that require space. Dumbbells range from 3-100 lbs. Two squat racks. All sorts of various machines. A dozen or so ellipticals. A few TVs and music playing.

This gym is super clean! Also they have great Yoga and Zumba instructors. The personal trainers are very committed to your health so if you need direction on how to use equipment properly, this is the place to go. Gym equipment is always clean and is very advanced and they also have "The Curve" treadmill.
