We love Aqua-Tots. There are so many class times and the cancellation policy is so generous that it makes these classes doable for a household with 2 working parents with variable schedules. Our son went from level 3 to level 4 in about 2 months and we are excited to watch him continue to progress. We go 2x a week and he looks forward to it so much. All the coaches are great and love the abundant seating and changing rooms.

We are so glad that we found AquaTots in Tustin. We spent about 6 months at another swim school before and our kids had only learned how to float. However, after we enrolled them in AquaTots, within two weeks, my kids already learned different types of strikes and could hold their breath and swim for a short distance. The coaches were amazing and really understood how to work with kids. At another swim school, my kids often complained about their coaches and not being able to learn from the same coach sometimes. AquaTots's App is so helpful for scheduling and checking learning progress with simple diagrams. Front desk staff are also always professional, friendly, and helpful. Our kids now can jump into the water without fear and swim without a goggle! They enjoy swimming much more at AquaTots in its completely indoor facility. There is also a plenty of nice seating area for parents and families, and the entire facility is clean and organized. We are very pleased as parents and their customers!!

We started our aquatots journey with Mom and Me Class with my 2.5 year old with the love for water and coaches interesting way to teach, my daughter progressed to level three leapfrog in a week.

That said, I find the make-up policy very frustrating. If you miss a class, you can’t cancel or reschedule the make-up, and it doesn’t get credited back to you.

Our kids are simply putting their heart to sign in another class on top of the regular one to get more practice. However we feel no flexibility if you were really sick and unable to cancel the last minute.

For example, my daughter had a bad cough one morning, and we didn’t want to bring her in and risk spreading germs. Unfortunately, that meant we lost the make-up class altogether, which feels unfair since it wasn’t really in our control.

We’ve been sending our children to Aqua Tots for quite some time now, and overall, we’ve been generally satisfied with the experience. However, I would like to bring up a concern that has become increasingly noticeable in recent weeks.

As you state, Aqua Tots swim lessons are scheduled to be 30 minutes long. While we understand that 30 minutes is considered optimal for young children, in practice, the actual swim time often ends up being closer to 20 minutes.

The instructors consistently gather the students right at the scheduled start time—never earlier—even when they are not finishing up with a previous class. Then, they often end the lesson 5 to 8 minutes early, regardless of whether there is only one student or a full group of four.

This means that roughly 30% of the promised lesson time is being lost, which is quite significant, especially considering how short the sessions already are. While we understand that instructors may take time afterward to speak with parents, the core class time should still be fully honored.

It seems this is not an isolated case but rather a pattern among multiple instructors. I strongly believe that management should take steps to ensure that all instructors are using the full 30-minute lesson time as scheduled.

We love AquaTots!!! The experience has been incredible so far. My daughter has been going for the past 2 months and she is exceeding in class. It is a little pricey but with everything that it includes it is so worth it. My daughter loves going every Wednesday and she loves Coach Stacy. We’ve been with aqua tots for about 7 years and moving to the Tustin facility when they opened. We’ve had great experiences with the staff. From my son participating in their SNAP (special needs program) to my daughter being a level 8/swim club swimmer we’ve done the full range at aqua tots and we enjoy it. We just started at Aqua Tots recently, but we are so glad we found it! We have struggled with getting my 4 year old to keep taking swim lessons, and when we came the first day he had a very hard time and cried the whole class. The coach and extra instructors were super patient and kind to him, and by the next class he went in with no tears the whole class and even smiled once! When we told him yesterday about swim class today he said he was so happy to see his coach and wanted to invite her to his birthday party. My 18 month old gets to go to his parent and me at the same time which is really great and convenient.. he’s already adjusting also with no tears at today’s class. I’m sure it’ll be a long journey for both of them to learn how to swim, but I’m thankful and relieved we found such a nice and supportive place to go to for it!

we love aqua tots! have been coming for over a year and a half. the coaches are all so sweet and gentle with the babies and really coach the parents on water safety. They have fun songs and games for the little kids to keep them very entertained. The make up classes never expire which comes in handy for sick kiddos and travel plans. The biggest con is that they are closed during federal holidays. We work and kids go to daycare so federal holidays would be ideal to use our make up classes if it was opened

I initially left a 5-star review because my child learned to swim quickly, and everything was great until August this year. However, I have decided to change my rating to 3 stars due to a recent experience.

During a lesson, my child was practicing an exercise and got distracted by the instructor's directions. This caused her to start choking and nearly drowning. This incident left her with a fear of swimming breaststroke, the stroke she was practicing at the time.

The school made efforts to help her overcome this fear, but unfortunately, all attempts only made it worse and reinforced her fear of swimming altogether. By the end of the year, we were exhausted from the ongoing stress and decided to cancel our membership.

Although we had already been charged for December, we chose not to continue. Considering our situation, we requested a refund as compensation for the distress caused, but the school declined, citing their policy that requires 30 days' notice for cancellations. While I generally respect this policy, I believe the school could have done more to address and resolve this specific situation.

Therefore, I am leaving 3 stars for the first two years of excellent instruction and for the effort they made to resolve the issue, even though the outcome was disappointing.

My 7 year old and 3 year old have both been taking swim lessons here for years! (3 year old started when she was just 6 months old!) And seeing their progress has been so fun.
7 year old is completely independent in the pool and has graduated to learning specific advanced strokes. He wants to join a swim team when he's old enough!
3 year old can float on her back and knows how to swim to a ledge to pull herself out.
Most importantly they both have a healthy respect for water and know not to jump in without asking first.

Both of my children ages 4 & 2 attend this location. And when my children started there was minimal exposure to swimming before attending and they both had a fear of the water. But over the last the 3 months I've watched my children grow into strong and confident swimmers. The joy they have when arriving is evident because of the staff they bring a consistent fun and safe atmosphere that builds up your child through safe activities. Each instructor we've had has been excellent at providing us feedback after each class. Every Friday my daughter who is 2 years old look forward to her instructor Johnathan challenging her and encouraging her to be confident and push her self through safe and fun lessons. The location has a large area of see through glass to watch the class take place . There are more than enough changing rooms that are clean and a provided dryer for your bathing suits . The vanity area with hair dryers and hair ties is excellent. The application is functional and updated after each class . Scheduling is amazing here as they do make up sessions in the event you can't attend . The best part is the celebration of your child once they move up to the next level is celebrated by the entire facility by ringing the bell. I couldn't be more happy to have found such a great location and such an amazing staff.

We started here with my now 19 month old in hopes of just getting him comfortable in the water. Mostly what I have taken from the classes is stuff that I practice with him outside of class and during open swim with the VIP Otter Club (that's def worth it!)

I will say that it took a minute to find a coach that I felt totally good about. A lot of them are learning, which is totally fine! But it can feel kind of like the class isn't totally being run by an expert and there can be some lulls and you kind of have to overlook the coaches being a little stiff and following their paper. The coaches I have loved end up being managers or even a regional manager, so it makes sense, I'm sure the newbies will get there!

Another thing, if you do decide to come, make sure YOU are the advocate for your kid. The coaches don't purposely do anything scary, but they have their system and the way they teach, but you know your kid the best, so if you are feeling like submerging too early is not the vibe, then say it. None of the coaches made me feel bad for holding off on that part, and I did it at my son's pace and we practiced on our own and he is mostly very comfortable going under the water now.

Downgrade to 2 stars from 5.

Progress is VERY slow. It appears to be deliberately so. It took threatening to quit to get some meaningful attention after over a year of attendance with no progress. Magically we progressed.

Then progress stalled again. So this time we quit. beware: the quitting process is terrible. They are aggressive with retention tactics and the actual cancellation process requires information like your billing amount to end the term. It's a highly frustrating process and it is designed to keep you engaged. It feels more like a used car sales tactic than a swim school.

Classes are supposed to be 27 minutes (or 30?) But there are frequent occasions where it ends up 25 minutes. There is a lot of downtime during classes, even when there are not 4 kids in the class.

Cannot recommend. Save your money and find a place where the attention is on progressing toward pool safety rather than retention.

We having been taking our son to Aqua Tots for a little less than a year and he has made significant progress. It took a bit of time to find the right instructors that my son was comfortable with. He now gets excited to go to his swim classes. Thank you to his coaches Samantha and Ella they are amazing. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming.

The thing that could be improved is it would be nice if parents would get notified when a coach will be training during the class we scheduled so we can decide if we still want to keep the class. Some classes end up being rushed because of the time it takes to explain to the new coach each step.

The coaches are so support and kind. My son has been coming here since level 2 and he’s progressed to level 4. Each lesson the coach comments on what was done well and what needs to be worked on for the next class. Checking in is easy on the app as well as scheduling any makeup classes. Highly recommend!

We love this swimming school. Groups are small (up to 4 kids), each coach has a personalized approach to the children. Kids progress fast and you get a report card after each lesson. Front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming.

My baby girl went to this school when she's only 6 months old. She loves how caring and patient the coach is. The pool is heated so you won't feel cold in the water and when you get out of the water. I recommend this place for your young child!

Like anything else, you know your child best and will have to be your own advocate if and need be. Multiple coaches have lots of classes with lots of kids. It's a lot to oversee for them and don't expect things to happen on their own if your child's in a rut and not progressing (like mine were.)

We took my 6 year old daughter here first due to locale. She previously came from private lessons, and she improved slightly. But needless to say, she plateaued after about a month. We pulled her a couple months later as she could swim good enough.

My 3 year old son couldn't swim at all when he started and they got him to a good place. He was scared to get his face wet to start and now he's no longer scared and enjoys the water. Though he was doing fine in class, I noticed they weren't advancing him after a couple months. He was doing the same thing over and over and was losing time as coach had to spend more time with the newer kids added. I decided to pull him too as there just wasn't any value for him anymore.

I was contacted by the school and then the supervisor to find out why. Though not necessary, I was pleased with the correspondence. They enrolled my son in "playdate" private lessons for his remaining lessons and advanced him to the next level after only his 2nd private. They then further encouraged us to enroll in more classes for that level .Interestingly, my daughter was also promoted shortly after we gave notification back then.

We are taking both of them elsewhere at this time and they're excelling. But we may bring my son back during winter so he doesn't lose his skill set, the facility is clean, and the teachers he had are kind.

I have 6 yo b/g twins and both LOVE coming here. My son experiences Autism so he is part of their special needs program and has a 1-1 session once a week. He loves it! I love the way the instructors mold to his sensitivities for him to feel comfortable during his session too. My daughter comes twice a week and she can’t wait to go every time. I would recommend them 100%

Started bringing my 18 month son here at the beginning of the month. He’d never been in a pool before and was screaming his first two times. The instructors are so patient and amazing with both the babies and the parents!!! Now there are no tears and he gets so excited when we go! The report cards at the end are so much fun to see his progress and it’s an incredible feeling knowing that if there is a time when he falls in the pool; he has that foundation to be safe and knows instinctively what to do. I’m so grateful for Aqua-Tots and the incredible instructors. Definitely recommend!!

Our kids have come here for over 8 months now and have not made much progress 4 months into the program. The teacher turnover rate is quite high. They also have to give lessons back to back. So there's really no time for them to remember or check each kid's progress report before classes. Pretty much they just tick boxes to make sure each move for the lesson's level is done regardless how your kids have progressed. After we mentioned this to the staff, the response was try to have your kids practice in your bathtub. So, the approach should be for parents to learn what to teach their kids and then do it at home with their kids, right?

They also try to sell private lessons as a way to improve the learning progress. It's really exciting at the beginning. But after a while, the whole business model starts to feel like just for money making. The high turnover rate also means lots of new teachers constantly. Many times during lessons, the teachers were being coached or the teachers were coahing other new teachers. So, in a short 30 mins lesson, with 4 kids in the class, take out 1/3 of the time for teacher coaching, each kid really only gets 5 mins of attention.

The facility is clean and staff are extremely friendly, nevertheless. Hence, it is a 2 stars instead of 1 star rating.

My 2boys love this place. My 7 year old was terrified to go in. And he is kinda difficult at times. The instructors are very patient with him. And one of the managers offered a free 1:1 class to help him get over his fears. He was crying at the beginning of that class but he left with a huge smile. Today he said "I can swim now and I actually have fun!" Thanx!

My kids love going to swim class. All the instructors are extremely nice. My son is Autistic and i love that they offer SNAP classes specially tailored to him. Ms. Grace is amazing with him and he looks foward to seeing her every week. My daughter also enjoys her swim class with Ms. Sam. She is truly making great progress and improving her swimming skills. I would definetly recommend to any parents. Its a great skill for the kids especially with summer approaching soon.

Aqua-Tots is amazing. The facility is super clean and gives parents front row seats to your child's swim lesson. The one thing that stands out more than anything is the over the top customer service that you receive right when you walk in the door. The girls are all genuinely nice and helpful. I don't just mean nice, I mean they are like Disney Princess nice.
The swim instructors provide your childs experience after every class.

I really like the safety procedures here and my son has built his confidence in the pool. However, it would’ve been better if my son had the same teacher each session. He practically had a different teacher each session. The same teacher would be able to under exactly what my son’s strengths and weaknesses are. Lastly, I will not be coming back because $200+ for 8 classes is way overpriced compared to another class I found $40+ for 9 classes. Thanks Aqua-tots for your philosophy and care for my child, however I prefer to have a consistent teacher to build rapport with my son for a more affordable price.

I wanted to start swim lessons with my 1 year old before summer started in order to build both his and my confidence in the pool. We received a gift card for his birthday for 8 fast track classes. At this age, classes are taught in small parent-child groups. The program focuses on building tolerance to getting their head submerged, understanding pool boundaries, finding the edges, and floating on their backs. It took him a few lessons to start to feel more comfortable, but we’ve both learned great strategies for pool safety. After those 8 classes, my little fish is super happy being submerged in the water and loves to jump off the steps in the pool. He’s quickly building his endurance to hold on to the side edges. He still hates being on his back, but we are working on it! Shout out to Coach Bow for her wonderful guidance and patience!

Tried out our free trial class today. It was great. I love that it is actually their Swim School location and not a rented out location like another swim School I tried. Everything is new and clean. Absolutely horrible.. my daughter drowned and teacher didn’t take notice for 40 secs. She got sooo scared of the water. I’m horrified with the experience. Stay away as they have newly trained instructors who have no experience at all. I’ll notify the management of this irresponsible behavior.
