My favorite gym I’ve been too, and the best gym in Tahoe. They have tons of equipment, a sauna, and offer yoga and other classes. The staff and owners are super nice and helpful. Definitely recommend!!!

I’ve been to a few gyms in the area, but Athletex is hands down the best spot in South Lake. It feels less like a generic big-box gym and more like a true fitness community that fits the Tahoe lifestyle perfectly.
What really sets it apart is the layout and the variety. They have distinct rooms for everything, so you never feel crowded. The "Asset Lounge" is a game-changer for glute/leg days with unique equipment you don't see elsewhere, and the Hammer Strength room has that old-school serious lifting vibe with brass-toned machines that are super smooth.
The upstairs area is awesome for recovery—it’s great to have a dedicated space to stretch and mobilize after a long day of skiing or hiking. Plus, the fact that they have a full yoga studio inside the gym is a massive bonus.
The owners, Ali and Rob, have done an amazing job creating a welcoming atmosphere. It’s judgment-free, clean, and the staff is super knowledgeable if you ever need help with form. Whether you're into heavy lifting, CrossFit-style training, or just need a good place to move and recover, this is the spot. Highly recommend checking it out!

My wife just signed up for a membership and the staff was amazing. Chris and Ally were very helpful and answered all our questions. They provided recommendations and insight on how to get the most out of her membership. The facility was spacious and inviting and not crowded. Plenty of parking and I would highly recommend joining.

Place is super cool, there's a lot of unique sections, like a unique room specifically for legs days and a separate room for arms It's all well put together. The lighting is also awesome for pictures of the pump. And the staff is super nice.

I’m new to the area and was on the hunt for a gym that had both specialized equipment and good vibes — and wow, this place absolutely delivers. It’s got everything I need and more. There’s even a “booty room” (yes, you read that right) with top-notch equipment that’s perfect for leg and glute days.
Even during peak hours, I’ve been able to get a solid workout in without feeling crowded. The space is well laid out, with plenty of treadmills, a stretch area, and all the gear you could ask for. Plus, the staff (especially Diana), are super kind and always ready to help. If you’re looking for a gym that balances great equipment, good energy, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the spot.

I don’t get why Taylor Bonilla left such a nasty review about this gym when she still actively goes to this gym. Clearly she’s just an unhappy person who likes to complain. This gym is amazing. The owners have put so much into it. The upgrades are phenomenal, as a lifelong local they have transformed this gym for the better. The new booty room is AMAZING!!! Taylor- maybe cancel your membership if you’re so unhappy. But don’t write a one star review AS YOU ARE ON THE TREADMILL. This gym is great. That’s why you continue to come.

Dirty gym. Unsupervised children using equipment at times. Most things that were broken 1 year ago are still broken, however there is now a stupid booty room. Owner will likely respond to this comment blaming prior management when I’ve mentioned that these things are broken months ago. Gotta take accountability and action at some point or take it on the chin.
Amended this review to 1 star because half (5) of the treadmills have been broken for months.

Wide selection of machines especially for tahoe, a lot bigger than photos on the internet made it seem. They have a lot of specific and hard to find machines (such as the belt squat) that i appreciate. If you are serious about lifting this is probably the best place in south lake for it.

I like the size of this gym, but it’s always busy. For those wanting less of a crowd, I’d suggest going early in the morning when they open. Side note, please please fix or replace your hip abductor machine 😢
