I had the privilege of training with Vladka for 10 years, and she is truly an exceptional Pilates instructor. I originally came to her with sciatica pain, and within just a week I felt so much better. She is incredibly skilled and has an amazing eye for movement—she notices things most people couldn’t and gently corrects you to prevent injury and get the best results. Vladka is patient, soft-spoken, and so lovely to work with, creating a safe and supportive environment every session. I miss training with her so much, but I wish her all the best at Atwill—they are so lucky to have her!

I was introduced to Romana pilates through Vladka , and it completely transformed the way I think about movement and exercise.

Working with Nicole at Atwill Pilates has been a life-changing experience. In just a few short weeks I’ve seen substantial progress in my posture, alignment, flexibility and strength. Nicole is extremely knowledgable and intuitive, and knows how to address the smallest movements that will have a great impact on your Pilates practice. She’s also incredibly patient and kind, and will meet you where you’re at, holding your hand as you learn together. I appreciate her generous hands-on approach and intelligent understanding of the body, especially as a beginner. The Atwill studio is such a warm and supportive space, and reminds you how restorative it can be to be in community together. The studio is always clean and extremely well-equipped. I recommend Atwill Pilates.
I am a first time beginner Pilates student and chose to focus on learning the intermediate Classical Mat Pilates sequence. Both Colleen and Nicole have been teaching me and I like and respect their teaching style. Classes I have taken include; privates 1 on 1, duets with my wife and mat group instructions, approximately 6 people in the group.
The studio room environment is beautiful, Spanish revival style architecture, beautiful garden view windows and good looking modern Gratz apparatus.

I feel so lucky to have discovered Atwill pilates. The space is a beautiful, calm oasis with highly qualified instructors and highly motivated students. Colleen is an absolutely INCREDIBLE and gifted teacher whose mastery of her field and deep wisdom of the body allows for her to communicate with her students through worlds, demonstration and and hands on adjustments how to deeply access muscle groups in a balanced and harmonious way to build strength. If you’ve ever had a pilates instructor who tells you exactly when you need to put more pressure on a specific toe and the exercises become one thousand times more intense you know what I’m talking about! I love that they have ALL the equipment - from the Cadillac to the electric chair to the foot corrector, and they will utilize it all to give you the best workout! Although I appreciate fast-paced group cardio pilates, often form is sacrificed in those classes which can lead to injury. This can be a wonderful replacement for or supplement to those type of classes. Atwill is all about control and technique and proper form for strength and longevity. Lucky you if you chose to workout at Atwill ❤️

I never knew there was a difference between pilates and classical pilates.
Training at Atwill has made me realize it’s something like driving a Porsche instead of a Honda. Not only is the equipment far superior to other studios I’ve tried, the trainers also meet a standard of excellence I definitely haven’t experienced elsewhere. Atwill Pilates has my vote for the best studio in Santa Barbara

I moved to SB and found Atwill Pilates in 2020. Since then I’ve had the opportunity to train with many of their wonderful classical instructors - Colleen (owner), Beverly, Marlene, Nicole, and Marie! They all bring a level of excellence, encouragement, sense of humor, and occasional side-eye that I respect and value! 😉
At Atwill Pilates I enjoy a combination of small group classes (mat & reformer), privates and duet training sessions. I love the group classes for the camaraderie and practice, and the privates and duets for skill development.
Aside from the wonderful instructors, the studio itself is a beautiful, bright and welcoming space. And the entire studio is outfitted with Gratz equipment.
I travel the world and try different Pilates studios everywhere I go and Atwill Pilates remains a favorite. 🥇

As a Pilates Instructor we also practice amongst other teachers not only to enhance our level of practice but also to tune up our bodies through the lenses of other teachers. Having taken session at Atwill Pilates has been such an uplifting experience, all teachers carries the knowledge of the classical method, I should say the true Pilates method. Aside from always feeling amazing afterwards. When choosing a Pilates practice, you are far better choosing quality vs quantity. Despite how many sessions one can take a week, one great quality session a week will transform your body far more than a few with equipments of less quality or teachers under trained. Atwill Pilates in SB is the place to go !

I love Atwill Pilates! I’ve worked with several of their teachers and they are all great! Definitely the best classical Pilates studio in the area. I typically do privates but they also have classes a few times a week that are very small and you still get a good amount of attention from the teacher.

I have been working with Marlene for several months now. She is an excellent instructor. She customizes each session based on how my body is feeling, but never makes it too easy. She gives clear cues and is no nonsense. I love it! I leave every session feeling a little stronger and I am so grateful to be working with her. Also, the studio has the best energy. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel so welcomed.

Beverly is one of the best all around instructors I’ve had to pleasure of working with. Her sessions are tailor made to address my weaknesses and build a total body strength that is hard to obtain anywhere else. I love this studio!! I’ve been doing Reformer Pilates off & on for about 6 years … here in SB, London, Dublin and Sydney. Atwill pilates is the best studio I’ve been to in Santa Barbara - the instructors are so knowledgeable and the Gratz pilates reformers and equipment they use is changing my body faster than the other reformers I was using prior. I’ve done pilates since I was a kid & took a break (covid & baby) and just getting back into. I am SO GLAD I found Colleen. I almost don’t want to write this review bc I don’t want to share her. I’ve done some privates, duets and group classes with Colleen and she’s one of the best teachers I’ve ever worked with. Very in tune with the body & just wonderful. I haven’t worked with the other teachers yet but have seen them in action & they seem great too & the studio is great - clean and welcoming and when it’s busy, it does not feel over crowded.

Colleen is the best Pilates instructor in Santa Barbara! She is so knowledgeable and lovely to be around. Colleen is incredible. Atwill Pilates is a true classical pilates method studio. The ambiance is beautiful. The teachers are all classically trained. The private classes allows one to learn about our body in a much deeper way since the workout is tailored to our own needs. The classes are just the right size to a maximum of 5 ppl in which one can still receive some attention for correction. Overall, the quality of the workout is great for anyone wanting to do Pilates the way it was designed to be done.

Being new to town and wanting to try Pilates I googled and found Atwill to be the closest studio to my house so I gave it a go. I started with a private session with Colleen. She was wonderful-down to earth, laid back and super knowledgable- even though I had no idea what I was doing I left feeling confident and excited to return.
Since my first class I’ve gone multiple times a week because I love the workout but also the people and the space. Marie’s group reformer classes are fun and approachable for many levels of student. The space has huge windows with gorgeous light and is well decorated with cool art, plants and a highly curated little boutique area- def has a spa like environment.
As far as the workout, it’s worth every penny. I leave sessions feeling both exhausted and strong. I feel like I’m standing up straighter and strengthening my core each time. I used to get lots of low back pain when sitting for long periods of time and that’s basically gone after consistent Pilates work with Colleen and Marie.
Some gyms/studios can feel pretentious or intimidating as a newbie, perhaps my favorite part of going to Atwill is that I never experienced this. Everyone there, including the clientele, has been warm and friendly. If you’re looking for a good workout, to build strength and flexibility, and to be in a great environment around lovely people when you do it, Atwill is your jam!

I've been going to Atwill for about 6 months and I love it! The studio itself is really pretty, very soothing and aesthetically pleasing decor. I do solo sessions with Marie twice a week. She's a wonderful teacher and I feel like I'm in really good hands. She's patient and she's always got an eye out to adjust my alignment and make sure I'm working the right muscle groups for each exercise. If something is bothering me she is quick to change things up for how my body feels that day. She's really experienced and knowledgable. Every class is different and interesting. When I started I was brand new to pilates, and now I feel like I've gotten a lot stronger, great length and toning, and it's a workout that this tired mom actually enjoys doing!

I’m so happy I found Atwill Pilates studio during my winter stay in Santa Barbara - just wish I’d found it sooner! I was lucky to work with each of the instructors one on one…they’re all amazing and really make sure your alignment and form are correct (which of course maximizes your practice). I had a lot of tension in my upper shoulders and back from being a new mom and the workouts here really helped release some of that. I’ve only been to Atwill Pilates twice and both times I had a great experience. Colleen is very patient and helpful when teaching considering I am not too experienced in pilates. She has a positive energy that you feel as soon as you get into the studio. Everyone at the studio is also very welcoming and love to teach so it makes the classes very enjoyable. Highly recommend going to a class at Atwill.

I have been taking Pilates sessions with Marie for the last couple of months, and all I have to say is my body is in HEAVEN!
Marie has a great understanding of the human body and a deep knowledge of classical pilates. Her ability to pay attention to every detail, and to tune into my specific needs of is unmatched.

This place is the best! I have been coming now for 6 weeks straight and have really noticed my body alignment is straighter, and Im stronger! Marie who is my instructor is a gem, she really makes sure that I get everything out of my hour there! She doesn't let me loose focus and really makes me work on the fundamentals! I decided to splurge on semi-private Pilates classes here during the Pandemic and it has been such an amazing investment in my health, both physical and mental! I had been practicing yoga regularly for years but was experiencing a lot of pain in my hips, back, and knees resulting from instability in my posture. Taking Pilates with Colleen twice a week has completely eliminated my pain and improved my posture. I don't think I could have made such a drastic change in my body without her close attention to detail and one-on-one training. I'm now 24 weeks pregnant and doing pre-natal pilates with Colleen which has been a huge help in maintaining my fitness and managing the physical changes my body is going through!

Atwill Pilates is amazing. I feel so blessed that I found it. I had done “pilates” before...first in LA at Platinum Pilates, then here at Fit Buddha, but I had no idea that those classes were cheap knockoffs to classical pilates.
You need to experience classical pilates to understand what I’m talking about, but once you do, you won’t go back. It will change your body in 10 sessions.

The space is full of uplifting energy. I always leave feeling stronger and grateful. Atwill is a gem in the SB fitness landscape.

My definition of strength has changed after doing pilates with Colleen! I used muscles that I have never even knew excisted, despite my athletic training.
I am new to pilates and thought I'd be lost as to what to do but the Instructions we're great and Colleen was so helpful that I felt at ease when I was there. I loved the individual attention I got during class, making sure that every part of my body was aligned properly so that I left feeling strong and aligned.
As for the studio what can I say besides the fact that it is gorgeous! Simple, clean, beautiful & spacious. It's in such a great location too, right off of state Street which was perfect as I walked to get a morning cup of coffee just down the street after class. The perfect morning really!
No doubt about it I would give Atwill Pilates a try, just warning YOU WILL BECOME HOOKED!!
