Jon is an excellent trainer! I went to him originally because after years of working out on my own, I lost touch with correct form and was seeing an increase in random injuries/muscle strains. He not only helped correct it, but also gave me so many new ideas for exercises and workout palms. He is a wealth of knowledge and knows how to push you just enough to get the best out of you without being too pushy if that makes sense. Highly recommend personal training with Jon. If group workouts are more your thing, his boot camps are killers yet oddly fun and always varried to keep it interesting. You feel like you are part of a team and everyone is encouraging of each other!

I moved to Bark Athletics after 10+ years with another trainer.
My overall goals are to be fit and have good balance. The routines that Jon puts together are personalized to help me reach my goals rather than just the same exercises each time.
I appreciate that Jon sets goals each session that are a challenge but achievable and and that pays attention to each rep to ensure I am doing it right and safely.
The variety of exercises in my routines enable me to get a complete workout each time. I feel good each time I leave after a workout because it was a challenge and I was successful in meeting it.
I feel I am in the best shape of my life and have the balance that I need as I get older.
I highly recommend Bark Athletics as a place to improve strength and balance with a knowledgeable and positive trainer.

I have been training with Jon since May of 2016 and have really benefitted from our twice weekly sessions. The workouts are challenging and never the same. There is a good variety of equipment from machines, to free weights, to many floor exercises, TRX, Bosu, ropes, rowing, etc. We work on strength, agility and balance. The workouts are never boring because Jon does a great job of mixing things up (and keeping my 77 year old body free of injury).

I cannot say enough good things about Jon and his training method at BARK Athletics! My husband and I have been seeing Jon consistently over the last year and we have noticed increased strength and endurance. Jon always varies the workouts, so it never feels monotonous, and he is great about correcting form and showing us the proper technique. I highly recommend Jon for personal training if you live in the San Diego area!

I have been training with Jon for over a year. I find Jon and his gym to be second to none. Jon has encouraged and challenged me in equal measure. He seems to have an instinctive ability to know when I need to be pushed, and when to press the brakes. His gym is clean and has everything needed for a good workout. Jon has done a lot for me !! I have a few chronic pain issues from past/ present injuries and after not working out for a few years as a lack of confidence and fear I would further do harm to my injuries, he has helped me with all of that. Jon has me doing things Iβd never thought I would be able to do anymore. He is encouraging but no BS and flexible to the fact my schedule is different from month to month. He has been a great addition to my health journey.

I came across BARK shortly after I moved to San Diego; I needed some constructive guidance in my workouts to get me back on track. I was feeling sluggish and just overall not in shape. I never expected to see the body change (mentally and physically) in such a short amount of time. Jon's workouts are challenging, fun, and full of results. I look forward to each workout and not once has any workout been boring or repetitive. He takes the time to develop workouts that fit what you need best and they're always dynamic and ever changing. My wife has even jumped on as a client. Jon is the best at what he does and I highly recommend him.

After not achieving my fitness goals and getting tired of the same old gym routine. I started going to the Boot Camp workouts at BARK. This is the place to be if you want to be challenged, learn new techniques, and have fun. The workouts are designed for everyone and are always different. Since I started working out at BARK I have seen big changes in my overall fitness and strength. Jon always has a challenging workout planned and does a great job helping everyone with technique, form and pushing you to get better. I have been able to lift weights and get through exercises I didn't think I would ever be able to do before I started. I have also seen a big difference in my lower back pain by strengthening the surrounding areas. If you are looking to get in shape and get stronger I would definitely recommend BARK, Jon is awesome!

Jon is a great trainer, very personable and makes me laugh constantly throughout my workouts. He gives great feedback to help me improve my mistakes and gets me to reach my full potential, even on those days you don't feel your best.
This has been the best place to be during these covid times, as I get one on one training and get to avoid the crowds of a major gym. I get personal attention and hard workouts where I do not have to make things up on my own or try to motivate myself after a crazy day of work.
Jon has got me to be my best, without him, I am always at a struggle. I hate thinking of things to do on my own and Jon has gotten know what I am capable of and makes me accomplish all that I can. I enjoy his workouts and look forward to each and every day at his studio.

Bark Athletics is a great place to workout. The BOOTCAMP class is a great way to stay in shape or get back in shape. Jon will always guide you in your technique while pushing you to become stronger. The BOOTCAMP classes consist of TRX, BOSU, Kettle bells, weight training, resistance training and cardio. Jon is also very conscious of the cleanliness of his gym. He has disinfectant wipes and spray in several areas of the gym and cleans between each client and class. I went here for one of Timmie's Bootcamp class and got my butt kicked. For context, I've been Crossfitting for about 4 years and I can say with quantifiable evidence that I'm in decent shape. The good thing about her class is that she provides a really tough workout but also includes modifications to each exercise so that people of all fitness levels can participate and maximize their own fitness potential. Timmie and John (another trainer at the gym) were absolute sticklers for form which I think is super important. The gym is small, but conveniently located in Point Loma. There is a lot of variety in the equipment which is also nice.
