I LOVE this place, and you should take advantage of the new member special. Professional, informative, and encouraging trainers. Welcoming and supportive clients. Clean facility. Noticeable improvement in strength, endurance, and ability within a few weeks! Details below as this place rocks. I hope this is encouraging if you’re new to fitness or wanting to re-prioritize it.

After listening to a couple of Mel Robbins’ podcasts, I was determined to build muscle to counter things like osteoporosis, dementia, etc. For the first time, I was motivated to workout for my long term health instead of vanity. (It had been over 6 months since my last workout; I had only gone on walks and mild hikes.) In March 2025, I took advantage of the new member special that came with 3 personal training sessions. I was assigned to Mando who helped me learn the basics for bars. He was informative, patient, and encouraging. I was so afraid of hurting myself with the bar, and I got more comfortable through these sessions.

During PT I went to 1-2 burn classes a week. After PT, I went to about 3 bar classes each week. The classes are well designed with the perfect balance of consistency and variety. The first 5-10 minutes of class start with a few stretches and a warm up. The next 10-15 minutes focus on heavy lifting with the bar. The next next 20-25 minutes is the “WOD” or workout of the day. It’s similar to HIIT with a combo of strength and cardio and targets the whole body. The classes are small, so the trainers can provide guidance and tips to clients throughout. As a newbie I felt really comfortable asking for clarification.

The first 2 weeks were rough. I was really sore (even though I stretched and foam rolled every day), and my muscles felt swollen. During the entire class I felt heavy; like I just got out of the swimming pool. My clothes felt tighter, and my arms and legs felt hot. I had to keep reminding myself of my long term goal to keep going. If this happens to you, don’t let it discourage you. It’s very temporary and so worth pushing through. I slowly gained confidence and strength, and by early April I noticed a difference in my strength and endurance. Although it wasn’t a priority, all my clothes fit much more comfortably. (I purposely did not weigh or measure myself for a “before,” because I didn’t want to obsess over vanity.)

By early May, something clicked. I think it was learning the proper rowing technique that helped me understand how the momentum of my lower body really fuels the upper body. Since then, I’ve become kind of addicted to the workouts. I finish class feeling like a bad a$$. I was significantly stronger and felt so confident and comfortable with the bar. I also happened to go down 1 dress size. The experts on Mel Robbins’ podcast were right. Women really do need to build muscle. We are meant to do more than cardio, yoga, and Pilates.

A few more notes:
When I first joined, I had mixed feelings about attending a more “masculine” gym with men. It’s about 50/50 male/female presenting people for both trainers and clients. I was used to gyms/studios that targeted fem clients. This may or may not be related, but I love the culture of this place. There’s less diet culture. There was a day where I was light headed, and the instructor asked if I ate enough and reminded me that food is fuel. It was so refreshing. Also, the instructors use biological terms for your muscles or body parts. This makes me feel more safe as a woman following the instruction of a male trainer. They also will ask permission before touching you and ask in a neutral way such as “can I point to your scapula?” It’s always to help you with technique and never feels icky. The trainers give fist bumps (I thought this was awkward at first but grew to love it for the same reasons as the bio language) and will say things like, “don’t you feel strong?” and “you’re getting so strong!”

I like the community fitness studio. It's not in a big mall and not difficult to park. Most of my experience are positive. The founders are very professional and caring. Their fitness schedule is resonable for me too. I also like it's simple, straight forward and effective without too much dazzling technology and equipment involved.

I normally let my excuse of not going to a gym be due to intimidation. I never know what to do and group exercising can sometimes make me feel subconscious. From the staff to other gym members, I have never felt more encouraged to reach for my fitness goals. The workouts are challenging but they allow modifications if needed. The classes aren’t crowded so it allows you to either have your own equipment or partner up whenever necessary. Everyone’s so helpful and willing to work with you wherever you are on your fitness journey. So please, don’t allow gym-timidation or self-consciousness stop you from joining a pretty tight knit workout community. You got this. :)

I've been a member at Bars & Burn Fitness for over a year and I've reached dramatic results that I never been able to achieve on my own on so many levels. Not only have I seen results in my level of strength and endurance, but in my energy, attitude, and overall confidence level- all of which I pay tribute to the fitness lifestyle I obtained from my membership to Bars & Burn Fitness. The workouts increasingly challenge me to exceed my own expectations. The coaches are experienced, passionate, and lead with positive encouragement. Most importantly, they are privy to any injuries and are proactive in creating modifications on any skill movement so that you can participate in the workout of the day. If you're searching for a gym that is life-changing, community focused, and powered by passion for a fitness lifestyle then Bars & Burn Fitness is the place for you!

I've been coming to B&B since May 2017. My goal was to be fit by the time I turned 40 in January. I've been going about 4-5 times a week since. For one hour a day, you'll get the best workout than you can ask for. The community is small and tight knit, which I love. Everyone supports each other. Bottom line is that you get what you put in it, with fitness and nutrition. But B&B is ideal for someone like me, because of all the support from fellow peers and the trainers. From Crossfit to Hiit to Boxing, B&B has it all. And everyone is around my age, so you won't get any intimidation from "bros" that crossfit. B&B will push you, but you'll feel comfortable around the party you're with.

I've driven past Bars and Burn for almost a year after I moved to Glendale and finally decided to give it a try. I called and spoke to Armando and he was very friendly and invited me to come to any class for a free trail.
I convinced my wife to go to a Sunday burn class when we met Armando. He was patient and listened to what our goals were, understood some of our challenges and ailments. He was very hands on and encouraging. We completed the class and decided to sign up for the discounted month to try it out with discount for a partner. I appreciated there was no pressure or constant calls. It was based on the quality of the class and staff.
Needless to say, we've been a member for about 6 weeks and I know both my wife and I have gotten more fit. You leave in a puddle of sweat every class and it hurts so good.
If you are looking, this is a great place to start or continue working out. The staff and people are great with no attitudes and welcoming. Bars and Burn are looking to develop new classes for kids and ladies so they are always looking to improve. Overall, this a great group of people supporting and pushing each other. I'm glad i finally had the nerve to pick up the phone and get my butt in their gym and I'm sure you'll feel the same way too.

Bars and Burn is AMAZING! It all starts with the owners Cat and Armando who have created a facility that is welcoming, fun and has a strong sense of community. You can tell that they really enjoy what they are doing and care about the people they train.

The class sizes are small so you are able to get a lot of individual attention. No matter what level you are at they find the exercise that is right for you. All of the trainers are very attuned to any injuries that you might have and help you to work around them and past them.

I've been going for about 4 months now and I have seen significant changes in my weight, body composition and overall strength and fitness. I recently got my wife to join and she is seeing positive results as well.

They offer a variety of classes and are constantly changing up the workouts to help keep it fresh. The schedule of classes is actually one of the best things about Bars and Burn. Class times start early morning and go late so if you are dealing with kids or difficult work schedules it is still easy to find a class every day. The facility is clean, the parking is easy.

If you are looking for a new place to work out, you should definitely give Bars and Burn a try. Come sweat with us.

Motivating, encouraging and community are three words that describe the crew and classes at Bars and Burn. The trainers are all very knowledgeable and work with you to help you achieve your goals whether its to loose weight, gain muscle or just be fit and healthy. I have improved my fitness greatly since gong to classes here and I have seen other class mates accomplish so much. It's motivating to be surrounded my like minded people and as a bonus - there is zero ego here. Everyone is at different levels and we all help and support each other.

Been a member since May of 2016 and thus far had been a very great experience for me. When in search of a gym my TOP priority was and is good coaching.

1. Coaching:
There is an abundance of great knowledgeable coaches here (they know their stuff). What is amazing about Bars and Burn is the fact coaches communicate with each other constantly, so if someone is injured and one coach knows about it, they ALL know about it and offer up modification without much effort from you. THEY CARE!!! I had previously transitioned from being a member at a local crossfit box for 4 years, injury riddened and it was the most frustrating for me to remind the same coaches why I couldn't do certain movements. Here NONE of that occurs.. They just know. Of course we have Armando who can fix anything that hurts. All work outs are great work outs and it is under the watchful eyes of highly skilled coaches. They stress on good form. All the coaches know you as an individual and know your capabilities so they know how far to push you.

2. Classes
Having done Cross fit for 4 years I was very very loyal to that regimen and was PRETTY closed off to any other work out regimen aside from yoga. (if you lift you need yoga in my opinion) Here they have diff types of work outs that are being offered which thru time I am starting to see it is beneficial for me and my practice.

BARS which is more of the crossfit type work out. This is my favorite and you will usually see me in this time slot. The programming for this is done by Armando and he thinks things through and is constantly trying to improve his athletes. He KNOWS his audience AND what's good for them. Although, sometimes I'm totally convinced that his goal is that we are cussing him out the very next day as we move about our normal routine in GOOD pain. *eye roll.

BURN: More of the boot camp style work outs and Cat is amazing at this programing and she kills you slowly very slowly. It is challenging but she makes sure you get a GOOD workout! If I did burn more often I'm sure my endurance level would be off the charts. The members that frequent burn can work out without stopping for forever!!

Boxing Burn: Cardio galore as well as learning to beat someone up the proper way. I always enjoy this class when I can make it. Constantly moving and you really work up a great sweat!

3. Community: Very tight-knit community all the members are nice and motivating. There are no cliquey douchey vibes here. Great friends are to be made here and you start missing your friends when you've been out for a bit.. And THEY NOTICE when you haven't been in for awhile.

There are just too many positives just to pass up. This is a second home for me and I am honored to be a part of the family here.
