Been a member for years and the club is FANTASTIC. If you’re an SF resident looking for a summertime (or anytime) private space for tennis, pickleball, pool, relaxing, etc this is the place. I regularly bring guests from out of town and they’re always impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, and dozens of seasonal activities/events. they provide to the guests and members.

A VERY special shoutout to the club manager, Jake, who rallied the troops when I thought I had an item stolen (only to find that I had just misplaced it 😂). He took my request seriously from the start and personally turned over every towel and flip flop at the club to find my “missing” item. Staff are an absolute treat - you can’t find a better/safer club for the price in SF!

I have had the worst experience with Bay Club. This is my first negative review I’ve ever written in my life, a reflection of how insanely horrible this place is.

We cancelled our membership within the refund window on Feb 17th with Robert Whitney. It is April 2nd and I am STILL receiving invoices and have not received my refund.

I have continued to receive invoices and radio silence from Robert and Bay Club.

If you are thinking of joining this gym, avoid making a HUGE mistake. We didn’t think the membership was worth the value, ROI was not there. After this ordeal, we feel grateful we dodged a bullet.

By next year the rate will be 265$ dollars at the rate it’s going. Was just 115 a month 2 years ago. Some modest improvements to the decent/above average facilities recently but nothing close to justify just shameless money grab to pad business and profits for new expansions on the back of the members they are pricing out. Recovery room is often closed early and staff are quick to push you out the door 10-15 mins before they close. Y’all aren’t equinox. Non existent customer service over email or phone, and in person always given the run around by the unhelpful teenagers at the front desk.

Don't join unless you want your monthly fees increased by $20 every 6 months. They force you to pay a crazy high initiation fee and they continue to raise your rates without any communication or heads up. You can't play pickleball after 7pm unless you use their "quiet" paddles.

Update Jan 2025: They raised prices another $15 a month. 3th price hike in a year. In total prices were raised by $55 in less a year. It really is a price hike every 6 months for the last 2 years.

I joined Bay club in April 2023, and since then, the monthly dues have skyrocketed by 50% without any valid reason. The management is completely out of touch with its members' needs and concerns. Despite these outrageous fee hikes, there has been little investment in upgrading or improving the facilities. To add insult to injury, they've introduced court cancellation and late fees to continue harassing members.

The club's management is a total mess. They barely communicate with members and couldn't care less about soliciting feedback to improve the membership experience. It’s been maddening for many of us trying to get basic issues fixed, like ensuring the Bay Club App Court Reservation system accurately shows which courts are open play versus reserved. Simple tasks like these should be handled effortlessly, but here, they're a nightmare.

I advise against joining if you're looking for a consistent and fair membership experience.

It is a swim and racquet location - 2 pools, 6 tennis courts and 6 new ish pickelball courts. There is a small parking lot + street parking is usually available. Bonus that the Ferry Building is a short walk (good snacks).

Amazing city club. Staff is awesome. Most members are awesome. I love the lap pool and don’t let haters fool you: there’s a swim club that takes up at most 2 lanes 3 times a week and a masters swim that takes all the inside lanes for an hour twice a week in the evenings. You can always find a lane to swim if you don’t mind splitting a lane (who would?!)
A little pricey yes but totally worth it if you are looking for a great city club with the best outdoors lap pool in the city (at least in my experience)

Scam artists! Do not create a shared membership with these cons! Charged me In January 2022, for an account that has been closed since October 2021, will not respond to emails, and even the October charge was illegal and fraud, as I had stopped payments and they lied and told me my account was transferred to other members on the account and I would not be charged, then sent the wrong paperwork for the transfer to the other account member and said it’s our fault that we didn’t handle the transfer correctly so charged me $560 and then now with my expired account since October charged me another $560. Avoid them like the plague, extremely offensive customer service, do not care at all. Ryan Ashbaker does not care at all and doesn’t care to help and the rest of his staff is incompetent.

The bay club at Gateway has one of the worst customer service and management compared to other fitness clubs. Be aware in case one is injured or sick, their staff demands payment of the full membership dues regardless how serious your health condition. The pool and jacuzzi are outstanding, especially in the evening! Magical. Clean, perfect temp, beautifully decorated, and rarely crowded. Downside is the facilities need better maintenance. Some locks on showers and toilets in women’s changing room were broken. But it’s a small thing.

I used to belong to the Bay Club, the GGTSC's sister club, but I really like GGTSC not only because of tennis but because the gym is not very crowded. I highly recommend my personal trainer, Laura -- she's got great energy and has motivated me a whole lot. One gym member remarked,"Laura's got all the clients with smiles on their faces!" It's so true.

I recently saw a magazine quiz called "is your gym hip?" GGTSC swims by:
Equipment - up-to-date with tv screens on the machines as well as tv monitors for those who prefer not to plug in
Service - complimentary towels, shampoo/soap/mouthwash etc/ coffee and tea service, desk staff are pretty chill
Environment - courts are well kept, swimming pool is heated, landscaped, great upper deck to do floor work or watch a match

The locker room is a bit dated and not as comfy as that at the Bay Club.
