I am so thrilled with BFT Gym. I came in after injuring my shoulder—needing to rehab safely while also losing fat and building muscle—and this place has exceeded every expectation.
The coaches are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely invested in your progress. The environment is fun, energetic, and supportive in a way that makes you actually look forward to going. They’ve taught me how to properly do movements I never understood before—like deadlifts and cleans—and they do it with so much patience. I never feel embarrassed asking questions or modifying movements while recovering.
Not only is my shoulder improving, but I’m getting stronger and feeling more confident in the gym than I ever have. BFT has become one of my favorite parts of the day. Highly recommend!

Been a member since last November and I feel blessed to have found BFT. I switched from another well known local gym and so glad I did. This gym is always welcoming with its scientific program and knowledgeable, friendly and motivating coaches who make sure your forms are correct. BFT is also great at community building and often has complimentary workshops and members' social night. This is one gym that makes me keep coming which made me stronger with increases endurance.

I just moved to the Little Italy and am trying out different gyms. Asking for the pricing is a reasonable request when considering a new gym. Every gym so far has been very transparent in their pricing structure, but for some reason BFT refused to send any information on how much a membership or class costs. Derrick just stopped responding to my messages. I also sent an email and received no reply. If a business is not willing to be upfront on cost it's a huge red flag.

As someone who is at the very beginning of her fitness journey, I felt very well cared for at BFT! Hands down one of the best fitness experiences I’ve had. BFT Little Italy combines high-level training with an incredible community vibe. The coaches are knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in your progress. The facility itself is clean, modern, and packed with top-of-the-line equipment. Every class brings something different, from strength to cardio to endurance, keeping it fresh and results-driven. And the energy is Always electric.

This is quite literally the best gym I've ever been to... and I have quit a lot in my day. (oops)
The workouts are killer and aggressively humbling in the best way possible. The coaches actually take their time to see you and even remember the crazy goals I mention in passing, like "I need an ass in a week" and will modify the exercises to get you there without making it weird. Plus they're so fun and so nice!
The classes are intense, but kinda addicting. I look forward to the creatively witty ways the coaches will make it fun that day (pep talks, jokes, abs finishers...the list goes on). Out of breath on the outside, and healing the chaos on the inside.
They also have 8-week challenges, where even though it's a challenge, it feels like everyone's cheering for each other. Makes it a lot easier to show up when you know the classes are fuller and the energy is higher.
I've seen results in my body, in my diet, and in my mind for sure! All while having the best time ever!

I moved to San Diego this March, and joining BFT has truly been the best gym experience I’ve ever had. All the coaches are so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely amazing people who have helped me grow so much, both physically and mentally. Not only am I getting great workouts, but I’ve also made some incredible friends in such a short amount of time.
I used to absolutely hate cardio and would avoid it whenever I could, but somehow this place made cardio fun and now I actually love it. I even find myself coming in twice a day on cardio days, something I never thought I’d ever do!
The community here is incredible. You’ll meet so many amazing people while also getting in an intense, rewarding workout. I couldn’t recommend BFT more highly!

This review is long overdue, so let’s dive right in with a little personal anecdote. I joined BFT in November of 2024 and since it’s been such an amazing addition to my everyday. Through their combined strength, cardio and full body workouts every class made me feel stronger. Fast forward to March 2025, when I ran the SD half marathon which is usually (from my experience) incredibly painful. However, this year I felt the strongest I’ve felt in years as I made my way to the finish line. The amazing coaches that keep us accountable and challenge us along the way, the music that makes every workout so fun, and the incredibly friendly community is what keeps us coming back for more classes. So, if you are looking for a gym that delivers results while building community, BFT is the place to be!

I was looking for a gym with structured classes (just tell me what to do and I'll follow the plan!), but also a heavy focus on balance and correct form. I'm not getting any younger and it's much easier to pull something with one wrong move!
BFT Little Italy checked all those boxes for me. The trainers have an excellent mix of motivation, correcting form, and personalized support (diet, recovery, etc ). Almost everyone I've met at the gym is supportive as well, helping to get through the workouts and drive accountability to come back. Been going here about 6 months and seeing/feeling results from the workouts and the nutritional guidance. Highly recommend giving it a shot!

I LITERALLY CANNOT STAND going more than one day without being here. The gym atmosphere, the staff, the members, they are all friendly, welcoming and make you feel important. The programming is second to NONE! It’s learning how to lift and having a personal trainer with the fun of being around others who want to workout too. I really enjoyed working out here. My friend Angel invited me to come take a free class. The class consisted of a variety of full body circuit workouts that kicked my butt! I’m nearing my 150th class with Body Fit Training and cannot recommend BFT enough for the beginner or advanced athlete!
First, the Classes are incredible!!!!! I’ve tried many of the different Group classes and Gym Chains out there and BFT definitely has the best because of the sheer variety. Classes alternate between Cardio and Weightlifting. There is also a Balanced/Stretching class once a week, Run Club once a week, Core classes, Boxing/Kickboxing Classes and more. Additionally, if you are interested in tracking your heart rate and Zone training - they have all the latest technology available, Apps, Dashboards and Leaderboards to track your performance. Classes are always changing up the activities - so you are learning dozens of different exercises every week. So even if you just try BFT for a week or a month - you are going to add dozens if not hundreds of exercises to your inventory.
Second, MORE Activities! I also like BFT because they coordinate other fitness activities as if their group classes are not enough! There’s a Run Club that meets every week and they also do races. Every quarter there is an “8 Week Challenge” which is a comprehensive 360 degree program that includes team and individual competitions, body composition analysis, nutrition plans, individual coaching, fitness benchmarks, social activities, specialized classes, and even prizes. They are also adding a HYROX training program which I’m very excited about. So I really like how BFT is always continuously improving, offering new programs and innovations all the time. You will never get bored. There is always something new.
Third, Coaches and Staff are incredible! There’s always two and sometimes even more coaches on the floor so you always get plenty of individualized attention. You can ask questions anytime on technique, modifications, etc. The coaches are awesome - upbeat and energetic - even at the 5am classes! And persistent with your health goals …. I dropped out for a month because of my work schedule but Curtis - the co-owner would check up on me, other Coaches - Kailey and Angela would run into me - and got me back on track! Even while I’m writing this - Curtis just messaged me checking in on my nutrition planning! And they all bring their own specialties - Kailey the Runner and in charge of Run Club will motivate the Beginner to Advanced. Angela - runs the stretching classes and will hook you up with free Stretching sessions. Curtis - the legendary Athlete and Comedian of Australia - will have you cracking up during workouts with his jokes….while teaching you about Alexander Hamilton….. while teaching you proper exercise technique …. while trying to get you to sign up for the latest fitness challenge…. I kid you not….
Fourth, Community! BFT is different from any other group class in that you are often paired with one or more individuals. Or if you bring a friend or partner it’s fun to pair up for all the activities. So in addition to the training, you meet a lot of incredible people, develop awesome friendships, and push each other. BFT also does regular social outings from coffee to baseball to bars - not to mention all the fitness group activities we do outside the Gym (Run Club, Hiking, Races, Community Fitness Programs, etc.).
Fifth, Facility and Equipment! You wont find a more comprehensive Gym in the city. BFT has every piece of equipment imaginable for the Beginner to the Advanced weightlifter. Whether you bench 10 pounds or 200 pounds - they have it! The facility is beautiful (2 blocks from the Harbor) and always immaculate. The water station is state of the art - I bring all my water bottles to fill for the day! :)
Anyways, I’m grateful to have found BFT. Nothing better to start your morning with a group of incredible people, incredible coaches, incredible classes, and challenging yourself with over a dozen incredible activities everyday!

This reviews has been a long time coming so please read to the end. I started my fitness journey in late March after years of making excuses to take care of my fitness. However I did not start at BFT. After a few months at another gym and not seeing any results in terms of weight loss, muscle growth, and injuring myself because I wasn’t warming up/cooling down and going hard for no reason I decided to give BFT a try. To his credit, co-owner Coach Curtis, was very persistent in his communication until I finally decided to give him a call. During our first conversation, he asked me about my fitness goals, challenges, and he even mentioned helping me with weight loss and nutrition which immediately caught my attention. Curtis even invited me to try a class to get a feel for the BFT experience. During my first cardio class I saw how other members were friendly and inviting, the gym was clean and organized, the coaches made sure to explain how to properly perform all of the exercises and sets. The class also included a warm up and cool down stretch. After further conversations with Curtis about my struggles with weight loss and nutrition and how he would help me learn to track, journal, and comprehend macros and micros I decided to give BFT a shot. Over the past 6 months, BFT has helped me reached various fitness milestones such as losing 30lbs (I’m down to 160lbs and can fit into skinning clothes I haven’t worn in years). My relationship with food and nutrition has transformed for the better. I now eat healthier and I can track my micros and macros. My sleep has also improved, averaging 8hrs per night or more. Most recently I also completed my first BFT 8 Week Challenge, something that I would have never seen myself doing.
Many of my family and friends have also noticed how my health and fitness has greatly improved. BFT is a gym that provides you with a holistic approach to fitness. Every week, classes with alternate between weight lifting, cardio, or a combination of both. Members can chose from early morning to afternoon and evening classes. Sundays are dedicated to mobility and flexibility ensuring that you are stretching muscles and preparing for the following week’s classes. All of BFT’s coaches are also amazing and very fun individuals who enjoy coaching, playing great music, and most importantly understanding each member’s fitness goals, challenges, adapting workouts if needed, and ensuring that no one gets hurt. In the 6 months I’ve been coming to BFT, I’ve never gotten injured or pushed myself to the point of hurting myself. And last but certainly not least, the BFT community is full of amazing people who are friendly, supportive, and encouraging of one another. BFT also engages with the Little Italy community at various events and hosts various workshops on nutrition, preventing injuries, and promoting up and coming small businesses. I am happy to be a member of BFT and honestly don’t see myself anywhere else. This is a gym where you will get and see results if you are willing to put in the work, and where you will find a community of coaches and members who are extremely supportive. Phenomenal coaching staff, always watching carefully making sure form was safe and effective. Easy to follow along. Great exercise selection and intensity. I loved the flexibility of being able to go all out for an entire set/ taking needed breaks between sets and stations. I started training at BFT about 2 months ago, prior to which I had essentially zero experience with strength training. The coaches at BFT, including the incredible Coach Kaily, have worked closely with me to ensure I develop good form, build up my strength at the right pace for me, and challenge myself while ensuring that I don’t hurt myself in the process - ultimately ensuring the right balance with a tailored approach to both meet me where I’m currently at in strength capabilities and to help me improve to achieve my fitness goals. All of the coaches motivate us to do our best and bring such positive energy to each class. BFT has been an amazing workout regime for me. They offer different types of classes that range focusing in on specific muscle groups for strength training but also include a lot of HIIT and other mobility classes that push you to your limits. The coaches there are great at what they do, and a huge shout out to Couch Kaily who's been just absolutely awesome, helpful, and all-round great human!

I have had a great experience at BFT! I feel I have finally found a gym home that is challenging AND sustainable! The coaches are all so friendly, approachable, and present during each class. Normally multiple coaches are facilitating the classes, which I love because it feels more like personal training experience vs a class where you are fending for your self! I have really learned a lot about form and just how to train in a safe and healthy way at BFT. My experience with other members has been great too, the coaches keep the vibes high and keeps everyone motivated to work hard. During my time at BFT I have seen real progress in my strength, endurance, and highly recommend!

I’ve been looking for a gym for a couple of years that I can thrive at and BFT is THE place. A personal trainer became too expensive but BFT offers classes that feel like personal training but with the fun atmosphere and accountability of group classes. BFT is AMAZING. The studio is clean, has fresh new equipment and an incredible vibe. I honestly contemplate on quitting every month (it’s not them, it’s me) but I keep on coming back. All of the coaches and staff here are so charismatic and helpful, and the people who workout here are so nice that makes it so hard to quit. I wanted to quit due to my own scheduling issues, but they do their best on giving me options to make it work for me. I only go about twice a week but I’ve already seen progress with muscle gain according to a body scan. (I did my body scan at work but BFT has one too, however, i don’t think it’s included in the plan i have). I’m normally a yoga/ Pilates girl and am not super comfortable with weights, but BFT really helps me with that. It forces me to use weights and there are always enough coaches walking around that i can feel comfortable and confident in using them correctly. The coaches also always offer alternatives when I’m too weak to do what’s on the screen. Overall, I’d recommend checking BFT out and have their charisma lure you in and the quality of the workout lock you down.

A gym that prides on great customer experience whilst making great use of every square inch of space and has all equipment available for a different functional workout almost on daily basis.
I recently visited San Diego and being a BFT member in Australia, Curtis (gym owner) helped me with gaining access to the gym at discounted rate. From day one, all gym instructors were heaps friendly and approachable. This experience and constant check-in by gym instructors sets this BFT studio different from others. If you’re looking for a gym that combines strength training, endurance, and progressive overload all in one, BFT is your spot. I used to solely weight train and struggled with the lack of community and the ability to push myself. Ever since joining BFT, my love for weight training came back and I’ve incorporated so many new exercises that I wouldn’t normally do on my own :) The trainers are constantly there to push you and help with form (things I wouldn’t have known by myself). First things first: shoutout Gary, the absolute GOAT. In all seriousness, BFT is the perfect mix of high intensity cardio and strength training. I’ve been going to classes for 2 weeks and it’s easily become the highlight of my day. The classes are easy to fit into my schedule and push me further than I would push myself at a commercial gym.

Highly recommend this gym - all of the coaches and staff are super friendly, there's a great variety of classes and workouts, the facilities are tidy, and the space has one of the best downtown views of any gym! Great community of folks here, all good vibes. My only complaint would be that there aren't enough of the boxing-based classes on the schedule! Would love to see more of those in the future, they are a main reason I picked this gym over others nearby, and they are such a blast! :)
