it’s okay. I’ve taken one class there so far and it was not very hot. The teacher provided no corrections. Also they keep cancelling classes which is frustrating when I’ve planned my day around attending a class.

I’m grateful to the owner for having this studio and offering the 26/2 sequence—it’s such a powerful practice, and I deeply value its medicinal qualities. The funky, artistic, eclectic vibe of the space is something I truly enjoy.
That said, a couple of things come to mind that could enhance the experience. The textured walls are kinda gross—when they can’t be wiped down, bacteria, mold, and who knows what else just get trapped on the walls, ceiling, and other surfaces. The area above the ceiling fan, for example, is so dirty that when I’m lying on my back, I can’t help but stare and wonder what might’ve splattered up there! A bit more attention to cleanliness would make a big difference.
As for the teaching style, I understand and respect that Bikram yoga has a strong tradition, including strict teachers and the traditional “no music” policy. But I also believe there’s space to evolve and balance the old with a more compassionate and respectful approach. Yoga teachers are not gods, and they don’t always know better than the person living in their body.
While feedback can be valuable, it needs to be offered with care. Unfortunately, my experience with Ashley didn’t reflect that. Being yelled at during a vulnerable pose wasn’t what I signed up for, and I didn’t agree to that dynamic. As a sovereign adult, I expect to be treated with kindness and respect, not harshness or entitlement.
It would be wonderful to see teachers embody the principles of yoga not just in poses, but in how they treat others. Offering feedback in a trauma-informed, non-authoritarian way would go a long way toward improving this outdated style of teaching.
I hope this feedback is received and that Ashley learns some trauma-informed skills, it would help her as a teacher and as a person in general.

The studio is quirky and creaky. It's in an old building but it feels warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the class today with Robin. Traditional Bikram hot yoga. Temperature and humidity were just right. I'll be back.

Traditional real Bikram Yoga taught by only certified Bikram instructors who teach only 90 minute true Bikram Yoga classes. Students are dedicated. The space has everything you need. 2 showers. 1 toilet and sink. Changing areas for men and women. There is a water station to fill up your water bottle. They rent towel and mats if you forget your own. You can buy bottled water if you don't bring your own water bottle. The hot room is medium sized. The ceilings in parts of the room are lower than others so if you are tall, you need to set up where the ceiling is taller. The studio has been open for 20 years.

I have been going on and off for 10 plus years. It’s not the most up to date studio throughout but being from Oakland, I love it and wouldn’t expect more.
The room is often not as hot as it should be. I’ve reported to Tony who has given credit a few times when it’s been far too cool with no problem. Never a bad teacher. Missing Laurie who was my favorite.

I purchased a class online and when I arrived they were closed. Door locked. The number listed here goes to voicemail but the mailbox is full.
