It is impossible to get a hold of anyone at this exercise studio. I reached out twice by phone and twice by email (their voicemail instructs the caller that the best method of contacting them is by email) but I have yet to hear back from anyone after 4+ weeks. It doesn't matter how great the instructors and classes are if it is impossible to even get started!

Thank goodness for BK Roots! I discovered this studio during the pandemic. I was so thankful to find Mindy teaching classes online when everything shut down. I love going to Mindy's classes (for personal training and group class). It's rare for me to feel comfortable in a gym and I am always looking forward to my time here. I love how the place is low key and effective at delivering a workout that makes you feel strong and not injured afterwards.

I first came here to get help with my lower back and shoulder issues (which was always in pain after childbirth/ baby tending), and after going to this personal training consistently, I was able to feel more stronger in my core. It helped with my posture, ability to hold myself, and my confidence. Safe to say after a year, my shoulder and back pain is no longer there.

I used to hate any kind of weight lifting, have tried it many times and with many methods, and almost every single time, it would hurt my back and shoulder because something was not working. I don't feel that way at this gym, the work out is effective and yet gentle. I feel like I'm getting stronger, and leaner but I'm not drained or tired afterwards. I think she has an innate sense of knowing how to help people get stronger.

The group classes are also super awesome, a sense of community but not too forced, like everyone just comes together naturally - working out with ease. Thanks Mindy!

BK Roots has helped me get back on a path of strength and mobility. My knees are bad and I avoided stairs going both up and down. Since training at BK, I was recently able to go up and down 13 flights of stairs and walk 5 miles one day and still be active the next day. I see progressive strength and comfort in my body. I was looking to treat myself to prenatal personal training sessions when I became pregnant so I could stay healthy and fit through out the pregnancy. I found BK Fitness and Mindy and decided to give it a go with the initial session. It was awesome. I've since been meeting with Mindy weekly and it's my favorite 'me time' that I look forward to! Not only do I feel and notice the physical results, I notice it's also been a great emotional boost for me. I seriously can't recommend BK and Mindy enough, for anyone wanting to treat themselves to improving their fitness and overall well-being. Over the years, I have had memberships at the SF Tennis Club and Club One in Oakland. I have worked one-on-one with personal trainers and coaches in both gyms. In addition, I have attended classes at other workout studios in Jack London Square. None of these experiences compare to the services, workouts and attention I get from Mindy and Ash at BKRoots. Their monthly membership allows unlimited access to the 45 min sessions combining strength training, Pilates and yoga. The small classes ensure individual attention and a community feeling.

I joined BK Roots before the Covid Pandemic and was worried when we all had to shelter-in-place. I wondered how I would stay in shape and be motivated to exercise. Well, leave it Mindy and Ash, to develop 45 minute, virtual workouts. While we don’t have access to the springboards in the studio, which are amazingly FUN to use, they have developed workouts for us to do at home concentrating on getting strong, building muscle and maintaining flexibility. These workouts ensure my oesteoeoprosis is checked. Mind, body, spirit…all nurtured and expanded at BKRoots. Join!!

This is one of the best studios I've ever been to. The personal training from Ash and the nutritional advisement from Mindy has been priceless. Ash was able to work through everything I was taught, re-break it back down to simple terms, and get my body to relearn the right way. All these years have compounded and caused pain by incorrect training but over the last year I have been pain free (except the good kind for sore muscles). Between food and my workouts this tag team duo has really turned my life around for the better. Not to mention the kiss a$$ Muay Thai class on Sundays. What an awesome way to start your week off!

I have been going to BK Roots for over a year now for classes and personal training. Ash and Mindy are amazing and motivating trainers who are super knowledgeable and care about their clients. Since COVID-19 hit the Bay Area I have been keeping up with virtual personal training and some online classes. It has been nice to be able to keep up with my workouts and to stay a part of the BK roots community even when we can’t do in person classes. I've been working out at BK roots for over a year now, and can't say enough good things. After struggling with back pain for a long time, I started Personal Training with Mindy and it has made all the difference. It's truly transformed my quality of life - the people here really know what they're doing.

They also adapted really quickly to the COVID environment, offering a variety of virtual classes which they also record so you can watch later. This has been great in trying to stick to a routine and prioritize wellness while in quarantine.

Can't recommend this place enough. If you're thinking about giving it a shot just do it - you won't regret it!

She's not only an amazing trainer that's helped me feel so much stronger physically, but she's also an expert on nutrition and has helped me understand how to not just count calories but actually consume nutrient rich foods at the right times of the day in order to optimize weight loss. I became hooked on the yoga and pilates. Signing up for classes on their mobile app is easy and convenient. The staff pays attention to the small things, like room temperature during warm ups and cool downs, and there's extra hairbands in the bathroom if you've forgotten yours. Their pricing structure is based on a 10-pack, 20-pack, etc. or individual classes, unlike many fitness programs where you sign up for a consecutive series. As a frequent traveler, it's hard to commit to four or six consecutive weeks of classes. At BAR, I can come 3 days a week or not at all. The studio is small and close to the street so sometimes there's noise from traffic. But the instructors have music playing and the street noise fades away. The location is convenient, the classes aren't too full, and I always feel better after I leave.

I really enjoy the springboard pilates classes - Bianca is a great instructor! Mindy is too, but it's rare I can make a midday class, so I don't take her classes as often. I like the actual facility, the location works well for me, the online sign-up/payment is convenient, and everyone is friendly and welcoming.
