Mark tailors a fitness program to the needs of each client. He takes into account each client's abilities and objectives, and he adapts the program to changes in the client's situation.
Training in small groups (usually three or four) is a plus. The small groups build camaraderie and create a good vibe.
Mark makes optimal use of a small space. He upgrades equipment frequently and maintains the machines with care.

I have been working out at Body By Design for several years now. Mark has been training me regularly 2 or 3 times a week—every week since I began! This consistency has never been achieved at any other gym that I have joined!!
Mark motivates me to keep coming back week after week and pushes me to do more than I thought possible. This consistency has made me stronger, more toned, and is helping to keep my bone density at an optimal level.

I’ve been training with Mark for a while now, and I couldn’t be more impressed. Mark runs a fantastic gym where he specializes in small group training with personalized programs. His equipment is top-notch, ensuring you get the best out of every session.
Mark brings a classic New York no-nonsense attitude to his training, which I appreciate. He’s a Yankees fan—something I’m willing to overlook, haha! He’s incredibly motivating and pushes you to achieve more than you thought possible. I’m halfway through my 40 sessions, and I’m already planning to sign up for more.

I've been working out with Mark at Body by Design for over 8 years. I love that he runs personalized training programs but within small group of attendees - the community of gymgoers is awesome and helps stay motivated, but each person is doing a workout routine tailored to their own abilities and goals. Mark has had the perfect balance of pushing me along without any intimidation or stress. I've gotten noticeable results that I simply would have not gotten on my own.

I have been a client at Body by Design for about 3 years. I was referred by my sister who has been a long time client of Mark’s. I absolutely love the group training atmosphere that is unique to this gym. Mark is extremely attentive to each individual person and their personalized workout, while also fostering a group atmosphere. Mark worked with me and kept me in shape before, during, and after my third pregnancy. He was able to shift my workouts effortlessly as needed during the different stages and was always checking in with me. Mark works with people of all different ages with all types of workout goals. I started going to Mark a few months before my 60th birthday. He got me in shape and looking good for the party. His gym is spotless and includes everything you might need to keep you in shape and building and maintaining muscle mass. Mark tailors the workout to your own ability and any health issues you may have, but at the same time motivates you to do more. I started at Body by Design 14 years ago. During the first year I lost 90lbs, toned muscles, and gained confidence. Mark's total body workouts were exactly what I needed to get and stay in shape. The clean gym, great music, and small group atmosphere are all tools for success. He has all the equipment needed to achieve great results and mixes up the routines so you never get bored. I also recruited my sister and we love working out together in such a fun and supportive environment. Mark adapts workouts to accommodate injuries and he has helped me through a herniated disc and recovery from various surgeries. If you are looking for a trainer in the South Bay, Mark is as good as it gets, very knowledgeable with decades of experience. I first started training with Mark when I was 35 pounds overweight with no lean muscle mass and cardio endurance, after a thorough consultation he nailed down exactly what was needed and put me in the best shape of my life. Wasnt always easy, but Mark has a great balance of determination and toughness and understanding along with humor and a light hearted atmosphere.
Great equipment to accomadate all levels and Mark is always assesing the latest machines to add to the inventory, some of the equipment you wont find at any other gym.

For those like me who need to have a scheduled appointment to make sure I get to the gym, this place somehow got me coming back. However, the bigger issue for me like most, was to keep me coming back after the newness wore off. Im now three years in, so something is working. Most likely the results.
Apparently I’m not the only one as the vast majority of Mark’s clients have far more than three years as loyal participants.
I can’t speak for all those people, but for my journey on conditioning and staying in shape this place works.

I had been working out at a pilates studio near Mark’s gym and wanted to see if he could help me build more strength and muscle than I was building in pilates and yoga, while maintaining my feminine physique. I’m grateful I finally contacted him for training! At first I was afraid I’d be surrounded by a bunch of male body builders, but as it turns out, his gym is not intimating at all! I’m very comfortable there, it has a really great energy and I enjoy being in that space. Mark is very personable as well as systematic in his approach, time-efficient, and great at communication. Mark runs a first class operation. I’ve been going to him for years. His gym is run with small group sessions however with individual workout plans. Everyone is doing something different. When you have an injury, he modifies your plan accordingly. The gym is always kept clean, no smelly gym odors here. When working out, he adjusts fans to your liking. He really wants you to succeed and works with you to get there.

I found Mark a year ago after I injured my knee that was already aggravated, and wanted to do what I could to avoid surgery (if possible). Mark’s ability train around injuries and help strengthen the right muscles to better support your joints is remarkable! I went to two orthopedic doctors who both offered surgery to me….but I didn’t have to do it as my pain and range of motion is back to normal. I work out with him 3x a week, and he customizes everything for you even in a small group format. Never seen anything like this before in all of my years as a gym rat.
If you want to get results and make sure you don’t get injured or are needing to work around an injury there is no one better. The space has great high quality equipment, with a motivational vibe. Highly recommended whether you’re a local or staying here for a short period of time.
When you work with a trainer who’s been doing it for decades, they’ve seen it all and know what works and what doesn’t. Trust the process and you will get results.

Great place to head for people looking to increase fitness and develop good health habits. Mark takes the time to develop goals and plans that helped me to get in better shape. At the beginning you start off with a great full body workout-getting general strength and letting him assess which areas need work. Mark is an impressive trainer that gets real results in reducing body fat, improving bone density, increasing strength, and creating a nice physique. I had two other personal trainers in the past with only minimal results.
I joined Body By Design a few days after my doctor told me that my bone density had decreased to the start of the osteopenia range and that my body fat was 26% ("skinny fat").
In just eight months, my bone density is now well into the NORMAL range from strength training without taking any bone medication!
My body fat has reduced to 22%, no longer skinny fat. I have gained muscle, including emerging six pack abs, and have lost an inch and a half from my waist and the same from my hips.
Prior to joining Body By Design, I thought that walking and doing 100 jumping jacks per day would increase my bone density. I did this for a few years and my bone density declined every year.
You need the expertise of a personal trainer like Mark who emphasizes good form in teaching women how to strength train by lifting weights. He has a keen sense on how to read a client's physique and adjusts workouts at every session for maximum results.
In many ways, Mark has given me my life back...thank you!

I used to be a competitive swimmer - I have trained with some of the world's best fitness coaches, trainers and doctors in the country. For me, again having been an athlete at a high level of sport, I put Mark's ability to motivate and train me right at the top. Also, having worked with personal trainer's for a good part of my life - I get bored and I watch the clock - at Body By Design I am always amazed that an hour goes by so fast!
My work schedule prohibits me from continuing on at the moment - but I can't wait to get back there!

Weight training at Body By Design has been(and is) a very positive and beneficial experience both physically and mentally. The workout at Body By Design is the most efficient use of one hour packed with a variety of different exercises--alot of activity is put into one hour. The trainer,Mark, is an amazing trainer. He is very experienced and very professional. As a senior citizen I have very positive results from my workouts with Mark. I would recommend weight training at Body By Design for anyone--young or older--male or female.
