I've trained at CrossFit, OrangeTheory, F45, and now BFT. Apart from CrossFit, they all have a similar set up where you workout to a video and an instructor is there to assist you. In BFT's case, there are two trainers depending on the size of the class.

BFT, in my opinion, has a superior balance of cardio and strength training. The biggest difference is that BFT has olympic-style weights and is more focused on building strength in its strength classes than OT and F45. But they also have plenty of cardio equipment, including assault bikes, rowing machines, ski ergs, ropes, etc., and they have multiple cardio classes throughout the week that will leave you exhausted at the end of a cardio session.

I also enjoyed working out at OT and F45--I attended OT for several years and took several introductory classes at F45. But their strength training was limited to dumbbells (and kettle bells at F45), and they were much more focused on cardio.

With respect to CrossFit, I also really liked my time there, but I did not care as much for the gymnastics aspects, and I also got injured a lot. The instructors at BFT are way better than the instructors at the CrossFit gym I used to go to in terms of correcting bad form.

Since moving to South OC, I’d been searching for a gym that combines cardio and strength training—and I finally found it with BFT. Hands down, the best gym in the area!
The workouts are challenging, fun, and never repetitive. The trainers are super motivating and supportive, and the community vibe makes it easy to stay consistent. I’ve seen real results and actually look forward to every session! Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for an incredible workout, BFT Dana Point is the place to go! The 50-minute cardio class was hands down the best—and hardest—workout I’ve ever experienced. The intensity, variety, and energy make it a total game-changer.

The team here is fantastic! Huge shoutout to trainers Jonathan and Sara for their motivating and encouraging coaching, and to Gabe and James for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. They push you to give your best but also make sure everyone feels supported, regardless of fitness level. I can’t recommend BFT Dana Point enough if you’re ready for a challenging workout that delivers real results. Looking forward to my next session!

This place is LEGIT! You will get great workouts for sure, it really pushes you!
