About the Club

Body Mechanix Fitness first of all would like to thank our faithful member base for helping keep us in business. We have went to virtual programming for personal training & group fitness. These services will be integrated when the shelter in place is lifted. Our current class schedule is as follows:

Morning & Afternoon
Mon 12pm - 1pm conditioning
Tues 12pm - 1pm boxing conditioning
Wed 12pm - 1pm conditioning

TL;DR - Down to earth gym, great trainers, community vibe.

I’m really glad I found this place! Like others have said, it is a small gym, but the setup and equipment provide a surprising amount of flexibility around fitness programming.

There’s a boxing area, a gym area, two bathrooms, a water station, a small dry-sauna, and a cold plunge on the roof patio.

I really like the trainer I work with and have noticed that the other trainers here make a real effort to form a rapport with their clients.

I also like that all kinds of people work out here. I’ve even noticed a couple of kids working with trainers. It very much feels like a community space, and I’ve become friendly with the staff and clients I see regularly. It’s nice!

I was looking for a place where I could not only get in shape, but learn more about how I can do that sustainably long term. I’m definitely getting that and am happy with the results.

I’d highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a chill, down-to-earth workout experience. I find myself really looking forward to working out here and I’m really happy to find a place that will work with me on reaching my goals.

This is such a nice small gym, totally different vibe than your run-of-the-mill, wall-of-treadmills big chain gyms. The focus is strength training and especially boxing. You can work out with a trainer, do your own thing with open gym, or take a group class - the schedule varies depending on members needs.

They have a couple big bathrooms and even a shower, and they've recently added a dry sauna and a cold plunge upstairs on the roof deck (I can get a migraine from temperature changes like that so haven't tried these myself but it seems like people like them). Bring your own towel.

The people (trainers and members) are super chill, inclusive, encouraging, everyone's welcome and there's no judgment!

Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a neighborhood gym.

Unfortunately I could only spent a few weeks here due to my travel plans.
I’ve been to other studios since and I miss this one! 🥊💖🎶
Rick is a great and fun instructor! I started without any previous knowledge, and he helped and supported me every time I felt unsure.
The entire group is fun, caring and welcomes new people with open arms.
After starting with kick-boxing, I soon added boxing classes to my schedule, too.
If you’re not sure, just go! I absolutely loved it, and can’t wait to return once back in SF.

Rick is the best! He gives his best so we can all give our all to every single session. I’ve never been to a class that gets such a good workout while having a good time! I keep coming back for the good atmosphere set by Rick and other lovely members, and the great workout that keep me in shape and interested. We’re hooked!

I love this place , small but clean, not over crowded, I would do the boxing and kickboxing classes with Trainer Rich he’s awesome beautiful sense of humor , very supportive and he’s very affirmative of what you can accomplish. This gym also has membership that are reasonable. I lost and toned a lot of weight and even improved my eating ways I became religious to water, after I had my second child it made a huge improvement and motivation of my body and mind.i plan on going back soon .

This is a community-oriented and welcoming gym. People are kind, almost everyone knows each other, and it feels like a close-knit place as opposed to commercial chain gyms. Other great thing is the gender balance. It does not feel like a guy gym at all. There's are female instructors and quite a few female members as well, which I appreciate as a female member myself because everything feels super balanced and I can look up to strong women for training inspo.

Overall cost effective, wonderful people, and the gym is well-stocked even if you are doing non-traditional workouts that require weird equipments/tools.

Went to three different gyms in the mission trying to get a lift in while I was visiting sf. This place was the only one that took a payment for open use gym, let me work out uninterupted, had lifting equipment and punching bags, and even trusted me to stay in the place alone with no trainers there. Dumbells up to 80lbs, kettlebells up to 63lbs, 3 squat racks, nice bathrooms, even a shower: this spot is legit. Can't thank them enough, made my trip to sf. One note, the trainers keep some odd hours at the place so make sure you contact them to know when you can stop by, they're helpfull and friendly so it shouldn't be a problem.

This is a great gym that has awesome trainers and really beneficial guided workouts. The other members are really nice and overall it's a very non-judgmental environment that is a great fit for those already in great shape and anyone just looking to get started.

In particular, Steven and Darren's sessions push you through a lot of exercises and you leave feeling both exhausted and energized.

This gym is great, it has all the equipments you need and has a chill atmosphere overall. The trainers and staff are super knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I worked with Steven, one of the trainers, and gained 18 lbs in 7 months while keeping quite lean (around 10% body fat). Great guy, super knowledgable but doesn't overwhelm you with information on the first day like many other trainers do.

It’s a cute place with all the stuff you need. I love the balcony workout. Did a bootcamp place here that I liked. Otherwise I find the space a bit too dark and small. Nice people though!

The classes are all over the place. It's very hit or miss. They don't do a good job at keeping a rhythm that everyone can follow. I can see how the instructors could be good as private trainers, but running a class requires a different skill set.
