Far too hot. Studies show it’s not even good for your organs to go through such stress while stretching. Will continue looking for yoga that isn’t this hot. Ridiculous.

Teachers are nice but this isn’t legitimate bikram. Very little instruction on alignment and place is way too hot, more than 105 - easy. Basically a reductive sauna class. They pack that studio to the brim, maybe 2 inches between each person. The heater is this several foot long overhead contraption that feels like you’re roasting if you’re in front row. If you’re not in front row you can’t see yourself in mirror. So lose lose all around.

This is my favorite yoga/ pilates studio in SF. I miss living in the area solely because of this studio. The infrared heat, gentleness of the teachers, etc all helped with my chronic debilitating pain and various auto immune disorders. It helped strengthen my body, calm mh nervous system and detox. It’s clean, has good vibes and a lot of variety in classes and times. Highly recommended!

I visited SF only for a couple of days and needed a suitable workout space, hence I came across Body Temp Yoga.
Jody was a motivated and competent instructor. Alison was also a motivated and competent instructor. She even adjusted the room temperatur upon my health request and showed us many movement variations for different levels. Loved it thank you very much!
The location of the studio is amazing, the space is beautiful and clean. Only thing I would really appreciate is showers since there is no way that you can join a heated class without sweating TONS.

I cannot say enough great things about this studio. This is definitely the best yoga studio in SF. The instructors are super nice and very well trained, the room is hot enough to make you sweat and drip out all the toxins, they provide towels/mats for a small fee, and they provide blocks/weights. The space is nice and clean (sanitized after each class), and they provide cubbies for your stuff. Highly recommend!!

Hot yoga is an incredibly important aspect of my life and the location I go to needs to be great to support that. I took their introductory one-week special and immediately signed up to continue classes for the foreseeable future.
I've taken classes with Alex, Rikk, Haleli, and Genie and am so excited to have found this spot.
It's wonderful because all of the staff are pleasant and wonderful people which has the yogis catch the same positive feelings, the instructions are clear, understanding, and help me maintain my center, and the room has everything you'd need to hop in and get going.
I love it here and I'm sure you would too :)

I’ve attended classes with Allison, Alex (Alexandra), and Laura frequently and they are always amazing! The heat also adds a whole nother dimension. I always leave feeling so much stronger ~ both mentally and physically. Really appreciate all the instructors and this Body Temp Yoga community 🩵
I just wish there were HIIT classes offered in the afternoon(since I’m not really a morning person) or at least a bit later in the morning like 8 am ~ would absolutely attend them. Thank you for the incredible workouts & practice!

I took a Candlelight Yin Yoga class, and it was so nice and relaxing! It was my first time ever doing yin yoga. When I told Kristine it was my first time Kristine was so kind and helped me get set up with all the props. Kristine's voice was so sweet and soothing. I like that the music was chill but also upbeat so it wasn't too too mellow. The room was heated a little just so that it was comfy and the "candlelight" (with fake plastic candles) was very nice and soothing. The one thing is that Kristine's instructions went a tad fast for me to really keep up since I'm a beginner and not used to moving my body around in this way. Krstine did give a lot of verbal instructions guiding us to explain each thing and that was nice though. I also appreciate that modifications were given for the more difficult poses so you could choose depending on what would feel better for your body. I'm sure if I came to a second class I would be better at following!

I have a passion for cycling, hiking, and the outdoors. In an earlier stage of my life, I raced in triathlons and ran competitively on trails and pavement for long distances. Like so many of us, my work life is often stressful, frequently involves travel, and sometimes requires the transport of more than a few heavy bags. Through the years, I produced classic injuries, stiff, tight muscles, a sore lower back, a nagging hamstring issue, and the need for renewed balance and wellness. I explored healing and rehab programs of all types - pilates, ART, physical therapy, yoga, stretch band routines, and other well regarded programs were all in the mix. There are incredible tools in these areas and gifted teachers to consider. Yet, some of my physical challenges remained.
Over the last few months, I tried a new path. I started working with Chad and other passionate instructors at Body Temp Yoga. My experience has been uplifting. The impact was immediate.
The business is known for the quality of its yoga classes in the main studio. These yoga options are wonderful. For me, though, my best experiences evolved across the street in the small, second studio that's dedicated to wellness and balance. Ah, the power of slowing down. I so, so appreciate the rolling, stretching, and subtle foundation work! If you have soreness, injuries, tight muscles, and other issues in your body that reflect your passion for athletics and tension from the stress of life and work, I strongly encourage you to give these classes a try. My body is grateful.

Been coming to this studio for 3 years now so it's probably time to leave a review. The TL;DR: it's fabulous, and I highly recommend it!
Longer story: this place has incredibly reasonable prices. I buy the 30 class pack and it averages out to $14 a class, and if you do monthly membership it ends up being about $3 a day 😍. I've never felt financially stressed here in the way I do at some other fitness classes (looking at you $32 boot camps 👀) and it's such a relief for me.
In addition to that, the teaching is top notch. I mainly take classes from Beth, Ruth, and Nicola and I've loved all of them. All of the teachers here point out that the most advanced version of any pose is child's pose, and encourage everyone to take breaks whenever needed. They always offer suggested modifications and it never feels shameful to do a modified pose instead of the full one. The most popular classes can get really full (like the sculpt classes), but the off peak ones (like my favorite 1pm slot) have ample space.
In the last 3 years I've been going to this studio I've really seen my practice improve. Going to the Bikram and flow classes is a full on workout, as muscle exhausting as any of my weight training and distance running workouts, and I've seen a lot of muscle toning and strengthening as a result. (not to worry though, they do have less strenuous classes as well if that's more your style!)
All in all: great prices, amazing teachers, body changing workouts, and a positive and upbeat community of yogis make this my favorite studio in the city :)

I would give Body Temp Yoga 6 stars if it was possible. This studio is super clean and there are no funky smells (which is the case with most Bikram or hot yoga studios in the city). The instructors are amazing (all of them) and it doesn't matter if your are just starting yoga or are a seasoned yogi, there are classes for everyone. Personally I love the infrared heating, the soft lighting and music and cool decor. I don't mind driving from West Portal to the Marina to take my Bikram 75 class, I think that Ruth is just about the coolest instructor there is so keep it up!

Every time I attend one of Chadd's renew classes I leave feeling like a million dollars. I do all kinds of yoga and fitness activities, work full time and have two kids who keep my schedule crazy. When I think, I can't spend an hour "stretch, roll and releasing," I end up going anyway and leave trying to figure out how to find another hour or two to attend more renew classes. Chadd's humor keeps the outing light and fun, but don't doubt his commitment and intention. His depth of knowledge gives me the confidence that I will walk away better than when I arrived. One note -- I have not yet taken another teacher's class at renew, but I will make the leap that they will be excellent as well. Try it out!

I love Body Temp. I first went there a few years ago and did the 30 days for $30 introductory special. It's a great way to try out a few of their classes for a great deal. The instructor of my first class (forget her name now...) was very welcoming and spent extra time with us since we were beginners. I joined the fitmob/Classpass bandwagon and tried some other yoga studios and found myself coming back to Body Temp every time. I find the hot yoga to be calming and so good for your body. Afterwards I feel the same way I do after a good massage - relaxed and rejuvenated (plus very, very sweaty!).

This is easily the best yoga studio in the city but rather than give a fluff review I will provide supporting evidence. The studio room is clean, intimate and nice. The room size allows temperature to change quickly which is key for bikram. The yoga instructors are very professional, knowledgable and bring an energy to class that you will not experience other places. With all of this, it could be one of the more expensive membership fees but it is one of the more affordable. The new joiner promotion of $30 of your first 30 days is a steal. In addition, there are plans that go as low $65 a month whereas other yoga studios charge near $150 per month. Now go get your sweat on and try it for yourself!

I had only tried hot yoga once before (a few years ago) and was very nervous getting back into it. Body Temp has amazing instructors who made me feel so welcome the moment I walked through the door. I absolutely LOVE Heather's Basic-90 class. She goes over each pose step-by-step in a very digestible way. I was hooked after the first class! I'm also a huge fan of the Yin class - a non-heated class. I'm a runner who also takes a lot of spin classes, so the Yin class is fantastic for alleviating tension in the hip flexors and shoulders. I felt like a new person the next day. The staff is super friendly, the environment is extremely clean, and the studio is both convenient and affordable.

Prior to Body Temp I had dabbled across a few yoga studios (mostly vinyasa) but never found the transformational experience that people raved about. A friend referred me to Body Temp and I was hooked from the first class; I then referred three others. The ambiance at this studio is so warm (literally and figuratively) and welcoming; every instructor cares about your progress as well as your general well-being. I feel I am in a safe space and well taken care of thanks to the instructors trying to learn my name, remembering my face, and helping me with my poses to ensure I am in the right position.
I have chronic shoulder, neck, and back problems and this class helps me relax and stretch in ways I haven't been able to achieve previously.
I only wish there were more Body Temp studios across SF! I live far from the Marina and have to commit an extra hour of my day to trek there and back home.

The 30-Day Trial is the best value you will get for any workout regiment. Classes range from traditional 90-min hot yoga, to a modified, lighter version with calming music and dynamic lighting, to an intense "sculpt" session. Highly professional and competent teachers and studio. The infra-red heat is unique versus traditional hot yoga. After my second week of going almost every day after a workout slump, in combination with blue-green algae, I never felt better or was more focused throughout the day. Highly recommend.

At the age of 50 I was dragged into hot yoga by my wife, who had been going to this place on Chestnut—now Body Temp Yoga—for years since she broke her back. That was the deal. I wasn't getting any more flexible NOT doing yoga, so I went. Two and a half years later I'm still going.
And, because of owners Chadd and Rikk, and all of the other great yoga instructors there, I'm enjoying those sweaty 90-minute torture sessions. This isn't about tree-hugging and pseudoscience and chakras; it's about relieving stress and working your body in ways it doesn't necessarily want to be worked, without overdoing it. It's a close-knit community and there are some good laughs. And the place is clean. Look at the picture. Clean.
I still can't touch my toes without bending my knees, but I'm getting there.

I just realized that I have been coming here for SO many years and have never written a review for my FAVORITE yoga studio. I travel all over the country and have tried many different yoga studios, and yes, even the infamous LA yoga studios and nothing compares to Body Temp. I might be slightly bias though :)
Yoga is all about positive energy and this place is the definition of that. LOVE all the instructors (especially Brenna, but shhhh don't tell Chadd). I used to be a huge fan of Bikram but I am now obsessed with the Power Yoga class. I am an ultra runner so I will never be as flexible or as good as some of the folks that have been coming here for years but it's such a great cross training class and the added peace benefits that come with it are priceless.
Bonus points for adding the now famous HH Friday. Yes, beers and wine after class, who else does that???
Thanks Body Temp for always making me feel at home, and who doesn't like coming home?!

I've been coming to Body Temp for about a year and a half and it's by far the best yoga studio I have tried! I absolutely love the staff - they're super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome (learning your name etc). The studio is beautiful and feels clean and aromatic (you can't find this at most hot yoga studios). There are classes for all levels and they are all fun and super challenging too. My favorites are candlelight if you know you want a peaceful and productive evening or sculpt if you know you're the kind of person who will only work on toning and weight lifting in a group environment. The energy level in that class is awesome. Highly recommend!!

Going to Body Temp yoga on Chestnut St is my only Doctor, and Yoga is my nurse. Her voice is soft, and she never tells me anything, she asks. Be aware, not only while you do yoga but in your every day life. Yoga naturally makes your body and mind heal. Yoga will automatically ween you to a better and healthier mind and body, without you ever thinking about it. The action of yoga subconsciously makes for a better life. Doing yoga at Body Temp is a joy, clean airy, you just have to walk into Body Temp and you start to feel better. All the teachers are wonderful.
My assistant at work is a cross country runner, it took me five years to get him to go and do yoga at Body temp, he was a little mentally stiff, now he does yoga all the time, and very often he will say, "Why on earth did it take me so long?" To which I say, "It takes a long time to beable to play like your self".

I've been practicing Bikram yoga for many years in various studios around San Francisco, and Body Temp is by far the best. Some aspects I find superior:
* The management and staff are professional and friendly, and their goal is to provide the best yoga experience possible.
* Body Temp is student-centric: The teachers realize that a yoga pose doesn't always work as-is for everyone, and students are encouraged to vary the posture so that it works better for them.
* The price per class is reasonable.
Any questions or concerns are always addressed courteously by Chadd or one of his staff.

Huge fan of Body Temp. I've been going to the studio for nearly 7 years and have enjoyed the owners and the same instructors across that time. I've grown to love Bikram classes and had gotten to a point that I didn't like anything else. Until Body Temp Yoga - they have a fabulous Fusion class that's a nice mixture of the 26 asanas from Bikram and flow. It's great to mix it up a bit and it's only 75 minutes, not the full 90. Strongly recommend.

I've been practicing yoga at this studio for years and can't recommend it enough. The instructors are very professional and the studio is very well maintained. If you are taking your first yoga class or have been practicing for years, you will find an environment that is welcoming and conducive to self improvement.

Hadn't stepped foot in a yoga studio in a couple years, was referred to Body Temp as its in the neighborhood and offered a great intro price of $30 for 30 days. 30 days was more than enough to make an impression on me - this studio offers some talented instructors, a very hot - hot yoga experience and an outstanding workout. In fact, in 30 days (I challenged myself to go nearly every day) - I lost 10 pounds, toned my lower tummy, waist and thighs and completely healed my tight joints (damage done as an outdoor runner). My flexibility improved dramatically, I enjoyed deeper sleep, heightened energy, glowing skin, and overall improvements in my sense of well-being. I will definitely buy a package to continue my practice at BodyTemp!
Word to the wise: The Power & Sculpt classes on weekday evenings and all morning classes on the weekends are very busy. They do their best to accommodate all, but it definitely helps to arrive ten minutes early to place your mat!

I have been to nearly every Bikram yoga studio in San Francisco and this one is, by far, the best. The owners, Chadd an Rik, are very laid back as has been carried on from when Mary owned the studio. They do not yell at people or push them to go beyond what they are capable of. On the contrary, they are very caring and respectful. The studio has recently been renovated, it is beautiful and impeccably clean. I feel very fortunate to be living close to this studio, frankly it's one of the things I find endearing about this neighborhood.
