Body Tonic SF is a life saver and a safe space for selfcare. I live in San Leandro but pet/house sit in SF every summer, and the studio has been a refuge for me and. something I look forward to. Although, Im still a beginner, Brian is patient and meets me where I am, gently guiding, helping me get stronger. I feel exceptionally excited about my Body Tonic yoga course. Everything about the room is perfect. The diversity in the room is a great representation of San Francisco. Brian is fantastic and has helped me so much on my PT journey. He is super mindful of modifications and keeps a close eye on all his students to make sure their form is correct. Walking into my first yoga session at Bodytonics, it was everything I expected…because the website prepared me. I knew to come 10 minutes early, be hydrated, bring a beach towel, not eat at least the last 2-3 hours before and to do the diet check up questionnaire. Yet once there, what blew my mind was Brian’s attention to the details, like the protocals of his studio’s cleanliness, his individual attention of knowing everyone’s name and their goals …and making sure he understood mine! And lastly, Brian was constantly walking around making sure he gave everyone individual attention! I finally found my place here!

Body Tonic SF has been a transformative part of my health and wellness journey.

As someone who studied Public and Holistic Health for over a decade, I still have struggled with implementing and maintaining a consistent, dynamic and effective physical exercise routine into my daily living.

During a class assignment, I was directed to set a personal health goal and commit to a 30-day health challenge.
That’s when I discovered Body Tonic SF, and I’m so grateful I gave it a try.

Brian Monnier’s realistic and personalized approach to wellness made all the difference. Having faced my own challenges with eating and body image disorders, the combination of yoga and individual lift sessions at Body Tonic has become instrumental in my journey toward wellness. His program also includes unique tools for eating healthy and determining one’s food type (carb, protein or mixed).

I’m proud to share that I successfully completed the 30-day challenge, attending classes 3–4 times a week.

Furthermore, beyond that, I found myself motivated to increase my frequency and explore other forms of exercise in the months that followed.
Since March, I’ve lost about eight pounds, toned up, and built muscle. More importantly, my relationship with my body has significantly improved.

While this is a lifelong journey, I know that regular yoga and lift sessions at Body Tonic will remain an essential part of my overall wellness.
I would encourage everyone to give it a try. He frequently has introductory specials and is one of the few teachers in SF who has been teaching this long, running his own studio.

I’ve been going here for two years and I love it. Brian is great, the vibe is great, and the people are super friendly. It’s bikram but not super hot. Brian can modify all his poses for any injury, and really understands body mechanics. My posture, overall strength, endurance, and flexibility have all improved a LOT. I also do his strength training which was the key to take my fitness to the next level. I can’t recommend Body Tonic enough.

I can’t recommend Brian’s classes enough. I joined about a year and a half ago after a similarly long break from fitness and it’s been transformative. Brian gets you to perform at a high level of effort, day after day, and leave happy. I have never gotten so much personal attention and adjustments from a yoga instructor, and as a result my posture, flexibility, and general energy are as good as they've ever been. I understand and am more in touch with my body than any time in the 30+ years before this. Brian meets you where you are at, and as a man who has always enjoyed yoga but struggled with flexibility, that has allowed me to get into postures I had never done correctly before and truly progress every week. Highly, highly recommend this studio if you are committed to changing your life.

When I met Yoga Tonic’s owner Brian before my first class this month, he asked if I had any injuries. In response to my long list, he said “I can help you heal your body.” Honestly that sounded like magical thinking. But when you are in daily pain - and facing scary “s” prospects - you’ll try anything! After three knee surgeries and dozens of professional consults, it has been an extraordinary experience to have finally found hope. That’s not a cliche. In our first few minutes together Brian identified what will be our first project - how to restore my feet and gait to return to proper alignment. He literally “taught” me (and I am not “young”) how to walk correctly. Through wisdom, kindness, and humor Brian has moved my body and mind into a place where healing has already begun. I’ve been practicing regularly 2-3 times a week with Brian at Body Tonic for close to 3 years now and having been a former Bikram practitioner, appreciate his focus on form over heat. Temperature of his practice is much more conducive to pushing your poses without overdoing it. At 54 years of age my form and flexibility have gone next level since working with him and Sarah and the reasonable class size allows for more personalized and constructive guidance. Studio is always clean and it’s a convenient location between Van Ness and Franklin. Highly Recommend!

I joined this studio about 6 months ago and I can’t say enough good things about my experiences. I love how devoted Brian is to teaching. He has helped me understand my poses better than anyone else has done in the 20+years I’ve been doing yoga. I also love the differences in teaching in Sarah’s class.. she adds more core instruction and her knowledge and instruction in yoga helps me keep my focus on my body and my breath.
One of the main reasons I joined this gym was because it also offered a lift class. This is a whole body workout that is centered around the core. I have learned so much about my body in this class definitely found muscles in my core that I didn’t know existed.
This place offers the whole package for getting in shape the right way. I’m loving my transformation so far and excited to see what the future brings!

1. Do not bother.
2. See number one!

The narcissistic owner/instructor does not (and refused to) show the class what the poses are supposed to look like. He does not adjust his enunciation or voice volume to accommodate the muffles of a face mask. There is no music, but that is the least of the offenses. On the positive side, no one goes there so you and the one or two other women who do show up, have the studio to yourself.

I'm a yoga instructor from LA, and I did a drop in class while I was in town for a friend's wedding and wanted to check out a new studio. In the realm of yoga classes I've taken, this one was at the bottom. There's a ton of Yoga in San Francisco - I can't say I'd recommend this one first.

I’ve never attending a yoga class that offer so many benefits in one class. California yoga Bikram style classes for me are meditative, focused on stretching & elongating, detoxification, a real work out! and after short few consistent visits my body posture improved immensely. Another key thing I love is the personal touch the teachers give, correcting your position in each movement to make sure you reap the maximum benefits, which isn’t something you get in other yoga classes I attended.

Brian was very encouraging and corrected our postures to refine our alignment. The style is more like Bikram than Vinyasa, but the room is not as hot as Bikram. The energy is very positive in the studio and I really enjoyed the class. Will be back for more!

I've never really done yoga before and I chose California Yoga Company because the website made it seem very friendly and welcoming to beginners. And it was! Brian was good natured and motivating throughout the session. He is precise and thorough while walking around the room evaluating each person's posture and making adjustments. Unfortunately, as someone who's never been into yoga, I would have passed this place up if my friend didn't drag me to a class one time. But I instantly fell in love and became a regular. Brian has been a very considerate and involved instructor, and his classes are intense! I never fail to feel better afterward: I've gotten better sleep, my mood has improved, and I'm excited for the next class.
Brian's class has pushed me to want to really improve my physicality. Definitely worth a shot.

The ecosystem at CYC is transforming. After attending semi frequently for a month, my muscles were soothed and I received a fairly strenuous work out alongside advanced and beginning members, and expert teachers. CYC's main yoga flow/set is designed by their CEO and is 70 minutes long. I highly recommend their practice for anyone looking to be challenged or a hot entrance to the beginning's of Bikram!
