Joining the Summer Showcase at Body University was more than just a fitness decision for me; it was a profoundly personal journey. I am 55 years old, work full-time in special education and I am raising my two young granddaughters. Life is full, demanding, and nonstop. Somewhere along the way, I lost myself. I gained weight, lost energy, and felt overwhelmed more days than not. I joined Body University because I needed something to pull me out of that place. I was not just looking for a workout. I was looking for a reset. The Summer Showcase gave me structure, consistency, and most importantly, hope.

I was scared to commit. I wondered if I would stick with it, if I could juggle it all, and if I was even capable anymore. I realized as a caregiver, I used to feel guilty making time for myself. But I realized I have to put my own oxygen mask on first if I want to care for the people I love. This was my way of doing that. I did not give it one hundred percent every day, but I completed it. And that completion changed me. It reminded me that I still can do hard things. The fact that showing up, even imperfectly, is still powerful.

I started wearing shorts again. I saw myself becoming someone my grandkids could look up to. I created a new routine that included me. I stopped telling myself I could not and started proving to myself that I can. I feel proud. I feel strong. I feel like I am moving forward again.

What made the biggest difference was the community. From the trainers to the other women, everyone wanted to see each other win. No one let me feel invisible. I received tips, encouragement, and the kind of support that reminds you you are not alone.

If you're considering joining Body U or doing the Summer Showcase, do it. Walk in the door. Keep going. Keep showing up. You will not just change your body. You will change the way you see yourself. I know I did.

As a teacher and mom of two, I came to Body University ready for a new challenge. I had already lost weight, but I wanted more than just a number on the scale. I wanted strength, muscle, and a community to keep me motivated. From the second I walked in, I knew this place was different.

When Francine first asked if I had ever thought about competing, my immediate response was, “No way!” But the idea kept tugging at me. When they started promoting their Summer Showcase, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was something I needed to do for myself. I went back and forth, but saying yes turned out to be the start of a transformation I’ll never forget!

I grew stronger, connected with the most inspiring, like-minded women, and found an incredible support system that cheered me on every step of the way. Stepping on stage felt surreal! It was the most beautiful reminder of how far I’ve come and just how strong I really am. And now I’m training for my first real competition, something I never thought I’d do!

I’m a mom of two with a full-time sales career and a laundry list of hobbies, from paddle boarding to roller skating to painting. Life is complete, and I’ve always needed something to anchor my fitness goals. That’s what Body U gave me. Before I joined the Summer Showcase last year, I had been on a rollercoaster with my weight, especially after COVID. I always strength trained, but nutrition was my struggle. The Showcase gave me structure, support, and, most importantly, a goal to achieve.

Last year, I lost 10 pounds and kept most of it off. This year, doing the Showcase again while prepping for a real competition has taken everything to the next level. I’m proud of my consistency: sticking to the meal plan, showing up to train, practicing my posing at home, even on days when work and parenting felt like a lot. BU has helped me prove that I can commit and follow through.

What’s made the most significant difference this year is the community. The energy, the camaraderie, the way every woman cheers each other on, it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced. it’s a financial investment, But the return has been worth it. I feel stronger, I sleep better, and I show up as a better version of myself for everyone else. The structure and accountability keep me showing up. As a mom, it’s easy to spend money on your kids and forget about yourself, but I only get one adulthood.

BU gave me control back. It helped me stop believing the lie that aging means decline. Now, I believe I can keep getting better.

And the community? It’s the real secret sauce. I’ve never experienced such a supportive group of women. No cattiness, no judgment. Just encouragement, kindness, and strength in every sense. I started at Body University back in December at the encouragement of my physical therapist to start doing strength training. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hyper-mobile) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and was super nervous to go to the gym - I was coming off years of not being able to exercise so I was pretty weak plus all my hyper-mobile limitations.

I found Body University and met with Francine and she completely settled all fears and nerves. From my first work out, everything was modified to fit my needs, and we went really slow with adding weights. All of the trainers are super supportive and respect that everyone is on their own fitness journey. Francine has also created such a supportive community, I've been met with nothing but encouragement from the other women.

If you're on the fence about joining, especially if you feel like you have limitations, just do it. I've been so happy I did and I've already seen so much progress both physically and mentally.

This place really surpassed my expectations. I had been on their newsletter for a while and decided to leap fully in with their A-team program without doing a trial run and it was so worth it! If you’ve been intimidated to start lifting on your own at a gym, Body University is a great place to learn the lay of the lifting world. Francine and Syd are super knowledgeable and assist you every step of the way so that nothing it too overwhelming. Group classes are great and keep you accountable. Francine and syd do a great job pushing you throughout the workout and the other ladies in class are great hype girls.
Added bonus, if you ever venture down the bikini competition rabbit hole, bikini prep and posing is offered. Francine does an amazing job with posing, this coming from someone who struggles to walk in flat who somehow managed to walk in 5inch heels on stage…with a hair flip.

One of the best decisions I have made is joining Body University. I came into this gym with zero experience in weight training or proper nutrition. I saw a friends results & was impressed on her discipline & transformation, that I wanted to try BU out. I thought working out on my own, "meal prepping" and giving myself "cheat meals" was working, but realizing I had no idea what I was doing Lol!! Past few wks I have learned so much, I'm just about done completing their Lifestyle Program & reached my goal within the first 2 months. Body University went from the "convenient gym down the street" to my 2nd home! The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and supportive of everyone; no matter what your goal is! I'm on my 5th prep with BU and every prep has been extremely different, this is no cookie cutter program.. Jason knows his stuff! Francine knows stage presence/posing like no other and turns this athletic tomboy into a tiny dancer! The trainers are amazing... Absolutely LOVE Body University. You cannot get a better gym with quality staff and clientele. They have a space that is quality versus quantity. Every high end machine you can think of with excellent trainers and staff to help with any questions. A pet peeve I've always had of any gym is how dirty things are and how the trainers don't seem to care and this couldn't be further from the truth with BU. The gym is impeccably clean and trainers are the best of the best. Francine and Jason (the owners) are the nicest people who truly give their heart and soul for this gym and the people that come here.
I am not doing fitness competitions but if I ever was interested, this is the place to be. HIGHLY recommend their group packages.

I have been a competitive athlete my entire life. From gymnastics, to springboard and platform diving, and most recently spending the past 8 years training day-in and day-out as a competitive CrossFitter. I have always been addicted to working out, and staying fit, but never truly focused on what my body looked like… That is until now. In November, I watched my friend compete in her first bikini show. I was amazed with how her body had changed and found out she had been training at Body University. Immediately I signed up to meet with Jason and Francine to get started. I started off as a lifestyle client to test the waters. Turns out my body started to transform. After a few months I changed gears and started prepping for a show. Since moving back to San Diego, I was skeptical in getting trainers due to them giving me a cookie cutter program. Until I came across Body University. Francine and Jason are awesome! Jason handled my first Nutrition prep while Steve focused on all physical training. Together they helped me achieve my first goal of being show ready by losing a total of 50lbs while building mucle at the same time.
I'm now in my 3rd week of my second prep and have Ryan handling my Nutrition and training while also picking up sessions with Steve at the same time. Based on my previous knowledge and the expert experience of my trainers this time will be for the gold!!!

I have been training on my own for the past 2-3 years with no results and became frustrated with myself and the gym. I have a friend who joined Body University and has done a few shows through their company. Jason is my nutritionist and is extremely helpful and on point with his advice through dieting. Francine is by far the most motivating trainer I have ever had. She does not make you feel out of place and instead helps you enjoy the experience whether it is your first time training or you 10th time doing so. Both Jason and Francine are amazing with what they do for you not just for the time being but for a life long change. I can express how much happier and satisfied I am with them and their help with dieting and fitness.

I absolutely love Body U. They helped me achieve what I've been looking at achieve with my body for years in a couple of months! Francine and Jason are absolutely wonderful. They are so caring too! You definitely feel more like family than a client. All of the other trainers are equally as helpful and friendly. I came into BU with the intention of just giving bikini competitions a try - Just try it out once and then be done with it. But with family like them?.. The kind of motivation, encouragement and drive you get to surround yourself with over there? It is contagious! You'll want to go back. :)

Body University is life changing. They taught me how to properly nourish my body, how to target and isolate my muscles for proper growth, and led me in a very successful first year of npc bikini competitions. What an amazing group of people at Body University! The trainers truly love what they do and make you feel like family. The facility is clean and organized. The group sessions are small plus you get a lot done and the exercises are ever changing and challenging. I started competition rep the day after Christmas and Jason's meal plan kept me balanced from all the holiday food that was around me. He is knowledgeable and knows his macros; also a text message away in case of any questions. I definitely recommend Body University to anyone wanting a new change in their fitness lifestyle or anyone who is starting out and needs the extra push to stay accountable.

I cannot say enough good things about BU. The instructors are so knowledgeable and every movement they make you do is for a specific purpose. They make everyone feel comfortable, whether it is the first day of your fitness journey or the thousandth. The group classes often feel like one on one training with all the personal attention the instructor can give each client, since the class size is never more than four people. Whether you are a seasoned athlete or a new gym-goer, these classes will challenge and change you. Bonus, you'll get all kinds of ideas to take with you to the gym when you feel like flying solo. PLUS association fees are super cheap and allow open access to the gym during operating hours. A perfect place for people looking for an alternative to the cardio focused group exercise that is so common these days. I haven't personally done competition prep with BU, but the clients I have seen complete prep here have all looked amazing.

TL;DR: Amazing instructors, challenging and effective workouts, intimate environment that eliminates any fear of judgement the second you walk in the door. Go here.

Body University has been an amazing experience from the beginning; I have found a new family that is always there for support and inspiration throughout my fitness journey. Francine and Jason always willing to go that extra mile for us to succeed and feel a part of the family. Whether your fitness goal is to become a competitor, tone up, lose weight or gain muscles, Francine is the real deal. She is incredibly knowledgeable; she has a wonderful personality, and will push you beyond your mental and physical limits. There's no question that she knows exactly how to train you to get the most out of your body, mind and soul. If you are thinking about becoming a bikini or a figure competitor Francine will help you become more confident in presenting yourself and your physique at its best, and Jason can teach you exactly how to get your nutrition under control. What I like best is that he seems to really pay attention to the individual's needs and he tailors his program to what you can do, what you want to do, and how your body works.
