The gym needs to provide more clarification during the application process over the phone, scammed. Never did they mention the application process was complete and that they would begin charging and adding fees because they still needed my payment process and my identification for the plan. Im then receiving calls saying I have a fee. I called and they apologized for the confusion in the conversation but I still have to pay.
Keep in mind I have not even used my membership because I was not aware that it was going to begin charging/active, unless I provided the verifications needed. And I never signed anything. Really disappointed…

We signed up for a *month-to-month membership* because my partner is a travel nurse and we needed flexibility. We paid around *\$400 up front for two people* because we were told this would avoid any cancellation fees down the road.

However, when we went to cancel, we were told we had to pay *\$100 per person* to cancel — even though we were assured at sign-up that month-to-month meant no cancellation fees. Our contract says **nothing about cancellation fees**, and we shared this proof with corporate by email, yet they still refused to issue a refund.

We were also told that if we didn’t pay the \$200, we *would not be able to cancel* meaning Body Xchange would *keep charging our credit card every month*, even without using the gym.

The gym itself was decent, and staff was polite when signing up, but this whole experience felt very misleading. For a company to *promise no fees* and then charge them anyway, even when shown proof, is unacceptable. Be careful and *get everything in writing* — or better yet, go somewhere more transparent.

I tried the 30 money back guarantee. I held up all of my ends of the agreement and had this confirmed by separate employees. A few days after cancellation, I am directed to schedule a phone appointment for which I never received a phone call at the agreed upon time. Then I rescheduled and the same thing happened. Then I was billed again after my contract was cancelled. Had to reach out to the member services via email to get my refund process started. I promise you when I say that the support team lied to me and said my refund was processed. After waiting another week I had to reach out again. They apologized and said it was never processed. Cancelled April 5th and didn't get my refund until April 27th and got billed double. It took in-person meetings, 5 emails, two phone appointments, phone calls to the gym, and over three weeks of waiting to get my money back. My time is worth more than that. I will never consider a membership with Body Exchange again.

The staff are friendly and welcoming! They greet you when you walk in, ask how you are and if they know you personally they’ll chat if you’re up for it! Sharniece (I hope I spelled that right) is usually at the front desk when I arrive and she always greets me with a smile. The staff also does their best to wish you a good day when you’re heading out.

It’s also a clean and maintained gym! I’ve never seen it dirty and anytime there is a machine down, it’s repaired very fast! They offer trainers if you’d like one and the staff is available for any help or tips you need! For instance today I struggled with removing weights from a bar on the ground and the staff member, Jason, helped me so I didn’t have to suffer or struggle!

The lady in the morning at front was rude both times i went with my friend to try it with the 3 day trial. The first day when she was signing me up she was basically telling me if i plan to have a membership there rudely and I was confused because I just wanted to try it out to see if Id like it, so i told her that & she gave me attitude saying I can only do the trial if I am going to get a membership but that she will let it slide that time so I stayed quiet because i felt uncomfortable in the situation. Everything she said to me was with a rude tone. The second time I went, my friend went before me to scan her membership barcode & some lady was behind us and she told my friend she would scan her after the lady very rudely too when we were there first and it kinda felt like she was doing it purposely to set us to the side. I dont know but I didnt go for my third day due to feeling unwelcomed.

If you are looking for a gym In Bakersfield I highly recommend body xchange and more specifically the Panama location , besides feeling like the cleanest location in town , the staff members have always been extremely nice , the manager is ALWAYS there and super friendly . Workers are super chill at this location. The machines are rarely down, but my only complain would be that the price went up a lot monthly. Another major complaint is the people there(the roid rage ones), are a$$holes. They act like they own the place and hog the machines, only to let nobody jump in and use it with them. Other than that, it’s a great gym and it serves its purpose of getting your workout in and fulfilling your goals. But seriously the staff is super chill.

BTW, you guys really need to add the Deltoids Fly Machine.. it’s really badly needed and a lot of people have actually been requested it be put there. Most just go to white ln now because they have it.

For the most part, coming to this gym is awesome. They have a ton of equipment, there's a lot of room, staff is always friends, bathrooms are clean and available. The only reason I don't give a full 5 stars is that it often gets very packed. They don't seem to regulate the capacity most of the time, and there are even times when you question if it's even violating fire code. You can't move, equipment is all taken, there are hardly any dumbells available, people just talking and standing around. It could get bad. This is usually during the later part of the day into the evening, so getting there anytime between 9 and 4, it's pretty much a private club.

They charge you your annual fee after only 2 months of being there(plus the monthly). If you do not stay with them for a year thay WILL charge you a cancelation fee of 100 dollars and a maintenance fee. The company is just money hungry and they do not communicate with you. The month of my annual fee they charge me 40 dollars the first week and 30 the second week and then 58 dollars the 3rd week. I have called but they will not give me a refund.

Not a good first gym trust me they want you to sign a contract for a year and if you want to cancel they will charge 100 dollars and there is a maintenance fee that will pop up at random that they don’t tell you about. And to cancel you have to send in a 15 day notice can’t cancel on the spot because they will still charge for the month. Constantly changing the hours. First it’s senior hour. Then it’s modified hours. Then it’s “why don’t you check our website and read our illiterate, petty email in its entirety”...oh our email was wrong, well that’s not our fault, we posted it on our personal Facebook page? You should check Facebook, not our website or the direct email we sent you. This place is just a cluster and can’t get anything straight.

Masks required? Yes, as long as you have one on your wrist/in your hand you can come in...no need to put it on your face.

This was my second chance with BXchange after I swore I wouldn’t go back. I had an account for my wife, myself, and my 13 year old that I cancelled in June 2020 (I have the email still). I noticed that we were still being charged for my son months after for dues. I called and they claimed my 13 year some how was on his own account (we were charged 1 fee not two separate monthly). Cancelled again in September after fighting with the club and ABC financial (have that email too). Still receiving emails that fees are past due and his account is not cancelled (13 year old). This place is run by crooks don’t sign up unless you want problems if you try and cancel membership, no one can give you answers and when you have proof and facts they just shuffle you around to waste time.

Joined the club about 2ish weeks ago. I have to say after being at my previous gym for 4 years I was quite hesitant giving this gym a shot but I’m super glad I did. The equipment provided is great quality, it may be a smaller gym than I was used to but I actually prefer the smaller size because you don’t have to walk such long distances all over the place when a machine isn’t available or when your looking for a certain machine. There is enough variety of equipment and enough quantity of equipment that you can always find something to do. The staff is friendly, the gym is clean, people actually respect putting their equipment back. All around great place to be at.
