**BodyRok Berkeley has become my go-to space for strength, sweat, and sleep.** I’m on the monthly package now, and honestly, it’s one of the best choices I’ve made for my body and mind. The schedule makes it easy—classes run nearly every hour, and each day focuses on different muscle groups or training styles. I don’t have to overthink it. I just show up 4 to 6 days a week and let the rhythm do its thing.
The classes are reformer-inspired but not stuck in tradition. They blend Pilates with cardio and conditioning in a way that feels efficient, challenging, and strangely grounding. The programming is smart, the flow makes sense, and I’ve noticed real changes—I’m stronger, more stable, and sleeping better than I have in months.
**Now for the shoutouts.** Vanessa (aka V Dog) is a force. Her classes are tight—thoughtful, precise, and full of care. She cues spring settings before every move, offers options to scale up or down, and actually walks the room to check form. Her safety reminders aren’t just technical—they’re part of a bigger ethic of care. She teaches with clarity, but also with humor and warmth, so even the hardest sequences feel like something we’re all in together.
Mae’s “Obliques and Cheeks” class? A sleeper hit. She’s got a great eye for form and gave me some super helpful adjustments that made everything click. And Nikki brings this calm, steady energy that somehow makes you push harder without even realizing it. They’re both fantastic—attentive, encouraging, and clearly invested in the room.
Yes, the classes move fast. Yes, you’ll sweat. But you’ll also leave feeling like you did something real. The energy is high, the community is focused, and the instructors—especially Vanessa, Mae, and Nikki—treat every class like it matters.
**BodyRok Berkeley isn’t just a workout studio.** It’s part of my week now. A rhythm I rely on. A place where movement feels like medicine, and where the people leading the room know how to turn technique into something that sticks with you.

The locker was easy to use and pretty clean, the studio and carriage machines were pretty clean, the natural lighting was ambient, the air wasn’t dank, and the bathroom was clean. No complaints. Our pilates instructor Megan was great! She provided instruction by telling and doing it herself, then corrected us so we could see and be in the right position for the movement/reps, and she didn’t push us beyond what we were comfortable with (like when we dropped to rest before the time was up), while keeping upbeat and encouraging.

I visit town about one week each month, and every time I’m here, I make it a point to attend every single class Jalyn teaches. She is the reason I keep coming back to this studio. I’ve tried other instructors and other Pilates studios, but none compare. Jalyn is truly the best Pilates instructor I’ve ever had. One of the things that makes Jalyn so special is how welcoming and supportive she is to newcomers. If you’ve never done Pilates before, she makes sure you feel completely safe and comfortable. She doesn’t just let you figure it out on your own. She takes the time to teach proper form and technique, so you’re moving safely and confidently from the start. You never feel judged or left behind—just encouraged and guided every step of the way. Jalyn also knows how to create a class that’s both challenging and empowering. She pushes you to your limits in the best way, while still respecting your boundaries. She offers thoughtful modifications and supports everyone, no matter their experience level. Her workouts are intense and effective, and you leave feeling sore, strong, and proud of what your body just did. Her personality makes every class even better. Jalyn is warm, genuine, and truly cares about her clients. She makes an effort to talk to everyone, check in, and offer specific and meaningful compliments that make you feel seen and appreciated. Her energy is always uplifting, and she creates a space where everyone feels welcome. Whether you start your day with her class or end your day with one, it’s always a great experience. My husband and I love the instructors here, especially Abby and Jalyn!!! They will motivate and challenge you while keeping things fun. Come here if you’re looking for supportive and knowledgeable instructors. Bonus—the routines are interesting and diverse; we are never bored. I don’t think my core and stabilizer muscles have ever been this strong. The workouts have also solved my knee problems. Thank you, Abby and Jalyn—the best of the best:)

Came right on time at 12 pm.
The receptionist and I assume manager next to her didn’t let me in.
Even though I was on time.
They said I needed to come 10 min earlier.
There were no disclaimers on the class pass about that rule.
Then manager changed their mind and said okay.
As I was filling out the form, they asked if I had sticky socks, I said I have regular socks.
Then they said no again.
It was a terrible experience.
Driving all the way, finding parking and then coming on time.
Only for to get disappointed.
Very insensitive to customers and demeaning behavior from the staff.

I was so intimidated to try pilates. The staff was so warm and kind. Iyahna came by to correct my form when she saw me doing something crazy. The class was very challenging and a great intro to pilates. I am still shaking! If I ever do this again, I will revisit her class.

4 stars just for the results I’ve seen and the studio is nice enough. The studio doesn’t have cool lights as advertised, the service here isn’t very pleasant, I don’t ever get friendly vibes, which has honestly made me coming here feel so transactional…but doesn’t stop me from coming because I like the workout and unfortunately east bay doesn’t have many alternative options - if they did I likely wouldn’t come here.

I was excited to try my first class but unfortunately my experience did not live up to the hype. I informed the instructor that I was new to Pilates and had never used a reformer machine. She gave me very cursory instructions of the moves we would be doing and how to adjust the machine. These instructions did not include a single word of warning or safety precautions. There are no warning labels anywhere on the machines either. Almost immediately at the start of class, I rolled the carriage with the full pressure of the springs over my thumb when I was attempting to move it as she had shown me. When I explained what had happened at the end of class, she couldn't even offer me the ice pack I requested. I am still waiting for a response from management. They don't answer the phone or respond to emails.

This was my first time trying pilates and indefinitely STRUGGLED but got a good workout in and pushed myself to my limits. The instructor and class were very welcoming and nonjudgmental. I definitely stumbled around more than a few times in class and the instructor Brittany was helpful and provided tips if she saw I needed some help. If you’re new to Pilates and are nervous about trying it out, I 10000% recommend this place

Went to my first class at BodyROK. I’ve been looking for a Pilates studio after moving to a different city. The website does clearly state that this is not a traditional Pilates class which is why I’m giving 4 stars. If you’re looking for a more traditional Pilates style I don’t think you’d necessarily like it. I love Pilates as an add on to my other sport training but this class was more of a traditional gym workout that happens to use a reformer. It was definitely challenging and great if that style is what you’re looking for. However I don’t think it offers the same cross training, mobility, and deep conditioning that traditional Pilates does. My class did not have a real warm up and ended with doing burpees on the reformer which was a whole new experience for me. All in all probably great if that’s what you’re into but don’t expect traditional Pilates (just like the website says!)

This review is specifically for the Full Body Sculpt class with Caroline. I love taking this class, I always feel challenged, and welcomed. Caroline is a great instructor and gives great cues during class, so you never feel lost. She is quick to help you modify your position if needed and does so without judgement. I use class pass, but the studio always has great deals.
