This is my second class at this location as a beginner and i must say i always leave feeling great without over excerting myself. I have taken both classes with Emerald and shes AMAZING allows your to modify the workout to your level. Im a full time hairstylist on my feet all day so im moving and stretching parts of my body that usually dont get to as frequently. She has no problem in coming up to you to help you do it.
Cant wait to keep taking more classes

What a great experience! Instructor Emily is exceptional—she's warm, welcoming, and immediately makes new students feel comfortable by clearly explaining terminology. Her commitment to student support shines through in her active management, as she consistently offers modifications and takes time for individual check-ins. It's clear she cultivates a supportive, inclusive atmosphere. I also want to mention how clean and lovely the studio and space were.

LOVE BodyRok and love Vanessa (Vdog) classes. She’s one of my favorite instructors ever. Extremely challenging class and she does an amazing job reading the room to pushing everyone just the right amount to keep things intense in the best possible way.

Love this place! I’ve been coming for a few months and I’m always learning something new! The instructors are so helpful and nice! And customer service is great, I met Joshua a few weeks ago and he’s so kind, friendly and nice person. He makes people smile and feel comfortable about everything!. I really recommend this spot for Pilates!!

I enjoy the type of exercise and studio. It's clean, the reformers are great, people are welcoming and nice. The schedule works very well for me as a working progressional and classes offer great variety.
It's great that they have a good AC and ventilation system. But it's way too cold in the studio. I wish it would be a normal 70 F. I hardly break a sweat. Sweating is healthy and part of working out! It would make the workout more effective.
The trainers are hard to hear because they use mics through a speaker system but the space is too reverberant for that setup. I could offer professional advice for that ;)
But thumbs up for the music volume, it's not too annoying and distracting.
I would appreciate more advice from instructors about executing exercises correctly, with attention to individuals.

Paige is a great instructor. I was anxious being a 50 year old overweight menopausal woman but she showed me alternate ways to do the same exercises until I could build up stamina and took time out to show me correct positioning to be the most effective. I will definitely be going back!

Booked on class pass and when I showed up on time for class the instructor wouldn't allow me to take the class because it was my first time. Because of this class pass charges a $17 fee. I asked that they just check me in so I wouldn't get a fee which front desk seemed open to accommodating, but was later told her manager would not allow it and to reach out to fast pass. Kinda disappointed to show up on time, not be allowed in and then get a fee for my first experience.

I've only done mat pilates up until now and decided to try classic pilates using the reformer and holy smokes, what a fun and challenging workout. I was hoping to target specific core muscles and I did. The staff at Bodyrok was very welcoming and made initially what felt overwhelming less so. Looking forward to the next class.

BodyRok is hands-down my favorite Pilates studio! I primarily go to the Oakland Lakeshore location, but I’ll pop into the Berkeley studio for a cycling class when I can. I love that they offer classes seven days a week, making it easy to stay consistent no matter my schedule. Their app is super user-friendly, I can book a session last-minute or plan out my week in advance without any hassle.
The workouts are always challenging, creative, and never boring! each day has its own theme, so you’re constantly mixing it up and targeting different muscle groups in new ways. I always leave feeling stronger and more energized.
And the instructors? Amazing. A huge shoutout to Melissa M, Susie, V-Dog, Celine, and Emerald. they bring such great energy, personalized attention, and a serious burn every time.
BodyRok keeps me coming back. If you’re looking for a studio that’s dynamic, supportive, and truly effective, this is the one.

The staff is friendly, and I like that the workouts are under an hour. Going regularly I've seen an improvement in my strength. Minus one star because the cost is pretty high and while the instructors are really friendly there isn't much focus on form or posture.

Joshua at the front desk is a gem! He really helped me in a jam with a parking attendant. He was friendly and cares about BodyRok's customers. I have been a long time client and so appreciate the concern and team effort.

Yesterday I decided to take a random class to get outside of my comfort zone and landed on BodyRok. Booked a 1pm class titled Rokchella core & cardio, sounded fun. I got there 10 minutes before the class which was advised, the check in process was great and they have lockers to keep your stuff in. 5 minutes before class you walk in the studio, pick a reformer. Make it a point to introduce yourself to the instructor so they know you are a newbie. This being a first class for me I was concerned that I’d get lost in the shuffle of the class but that wasn’t the case at all. Megan made sure to direct me and check on me throughout this class and the 2 people directly behind me & in front were great for visual direction as well. Highly recommend being by people who have done this before. Overall great glass, it was no joke don’t let the cutesy label of Rokchella (Coachella themed) full you it kicked my booty! I have no photos, cause who has time to take photos when I'm just trying to keep up 🤣

I'm still figuring out if Bodyrok (the workout) is my jam but I have great things to say about this studio and their extremely attentive staff. Great space and the instructors actually check in with you via email after the class. (I'm sure it's automated but it's a nice touch.) The desk staff has gone out of their way to be helpful as well. Great so far!

I have been taking workout classes all over the East Bay with ClassPass for about two years now, and finally decided that I would suspend that membership in favor of unlimited BODYROK classes here at the Oakland BODYROK. I love that these workouts always feel challenging. Most days this BODYROK also offers evening classes at 7:30 PM, which is super convenient for me to go to after work so I get my workout in every day here. The instructors are lovely and can always help modify a position to meet your fitness level. I can’t wait to go to class every day.

This has become my happy place in Oakland. I have never been able to commit to a consistent workout routine until I discovered reformer pilates at BodyRok. The pace with the music and full body workout is everything. It's a moving meditation and SUPER INCLUSIVE. I started totally out of shape and could barely do a sit-up. never once did i feel like i didn't belong. People come of all ages, shapes and sizes and everyone has an amazing time. Highly recommend!! Especially Lauren, Anisa and Sonialena <3

I went in for a 40 mins class yesterday. The instructor was super nice and smiley, but the workout itself was super confusing. One minute we’re doing abs and then we switch up to legs. I usually go to RockSalt Pilates but since this is closer to my place, I decided to give it a try, but not going anywhere but Rock Salt !

I was “nervous” going in for the first time because of some of the reviews, and definitely went early since it was my first time in the studio…..I loved the (Saturday) class and instructor. Instructor was super encouraging, and went through the steps clearly and in sequence of movements. Front desk person was cool too. Will be back.

Zero personality, warmth, or any vibe. Overpriced, cold instructor, cold room. Cardio workout is not cardio if you have even the most basic level of fitness.
Also, a disaster waiting to happen. If you've never done this before, do not come to this studio. You are likely to get injured.
Also:
- you can accomplish a lot of this with bodyweight at home
- for the stuff that's unique to the machines - you'd need a lot more positive vibes, engaged instructors, care about orientation - to make it worth the price.

Literally the worst customer service ever. Told me over the phone to come at class at 5:30 and then when I was there said I should have come early and did not let me attend class. Did not know how to refund me so had to wait 30mins for her to figure it out. Wasted my entire evening. Honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a workout class.

Most of the instructors are amazing and very helpful with form! The classes are always challenging, different, and can focus on different areas of the body. Since it’s a small studio you need to reserve classes in advance or they will be full so plan ahead

i’m not sure why this has such a low star rating. Everyone works here is super nice. The classes are incredible. I’ve been using ClassPass to work out here and my lower back had been hurting and ever since I’ve been taking these classes my lower back is way better and I’m losing weight and getting stronger and I still don’t know how to do all the exercises properly but I feel totally comfortable. I’ve been on a fitness and weight loss plan for two years and I’ve made a huge amount of progress and I’ve worked out at different studios all over the world and with different trainers and all over the bay area where this location is and they have a good thing happening here and I would like to see more five star reviews From people who actually work how many different gems and can see that this one is awesome:)

I love BodyRok! I started off with purchasing a package deal, end of last year and have been a fan ever since. Based on comments I’ve read here, I do agree that class moves fast and can be intimidating at first, which is why it’s good to not give up after the first class. Come back and you’ll get the hang of it. The pace is fast but you get such a great workout in 40 minutes, which means more time living life and running errands, etc. The more you go, you’ll also find an instructor whose style you enjoy the most. I appreciate the no show or late cancellation fee, because even with the cancellation fee instated, there are classes with empty reformers because of no shows. I personally have benefited from cancellations and been able to squeeze in a workout, so I’m grateful these rules motivate folks to cancel in time, rather than no show and take up a spot someone else might have benefited from. I am a fan, and find that though taking classes as such studios is not cheap, it is worth it.

My first class. There was zero time to orient this newcomer to the machine. Which has lots of parts and the instructor was referencing these throughout the class. I managed to speak with her for 30 seconds between classes to tell her about a few physical limitations. She got it but couldn’t pay attention to my issues at all during class. Too many students/instructor. Lots of people appeared lost during class. Twice I was using a different position than what she instructed. She never noticed. I’m a veteran of workout classes. I’ve taken them all since Jane Fonda time back in the day. I’ll go back because it’s a good workout for someone with injuries, it’s close to my house and I’ve paid for a group of classes. This instructor was really harried. And the set up didn’t help her.
The studio is small but she used a microphone anyway which echos off the walls and mirrors. It’s hard to understand what she’s saying. That could be because the synthesized music is blaring as if we were doing aerobics in a stadium. Pilates is a targeted, deep, slow workout. Music to match would have been nice.
It’s a really healthy workout but you can get hurt if you don’t know how to use the Reformer machine. Maybe best to ask for a private class before heading to group classes since they have no time to orient new people.
Lastly, rhis place has zero vibe. Show up, workout, leave. Do not pass Go. Do not try to chat with the nice but busy receptionist,, don’t collect anything but your own belongings. Rinse repeat

I was a member for 1 month. I had very hard time as they charge you $15 (which is $18 now!!) for each class that you have to cancel. I emailed them and let them know that I was very sick and I wont be able to attend it. And they basically told me I have to still pay the cancellation fee as its their policy. I could not believe how weird this is. You go to a place to exercise to relieve stress but their policy will constantly stress you out as you might just not be able to attend it! You might fall a sleep, You might have a car crash on your way to the studio, you might have tested positive for Covid19… no matter what you have to attend or they will charge you for extra $18 for not being in the class…
Definitely not recommending this place. They will tell you they have a small studio thats why they have to do it… I believe there are other ways to resolve this issue. I know smaller studios without this kind of weird policy…
Especially for your monthly members you just have to be flexible and understanding…

I swear by this studio! I started working out here a few months ago and it is such a fabulous workout (I'm definitely seeing results--my clothes fit totally differently than they did two months ago, and other people have also told me that they can see the difference in my appearance).
I have had good experiences with all of the instructors. They have very different styles, which is nice because there is something for everyone. I especially love Caroline and Venessa's classes :).

Rude & stuck up, this place is exactly what’s wrong with Oakland. Overpriced classes for 40 minutes & predominantly curated for white people. I tried to give this place a shot after being a paying customer for a few months & attending several classes a week. After having a bad experience with Caroline I was over it. She can work on her tone & how she addresses people because she honestly was snooty from the very first class I had ever attended but I try not make pre judgements on people.

I just cancelled my membership from bodyrok Eastbay. On top of paying the monthly membership Bodyrok charges a fifteen dollar fee for all absences. You could be stuck on bart or over sleep and you will still be charged. Its incumbent on you to have perfect attendance forget the monthly fee you pay. I guess that how they make their revenue. Beware.

Seriously good workout with top notch instructors! The instructors focus on form first and foremost and the classes are small enough that they can come up and help you correct during the class. This is super helpful for beginners like myself and make using the machines way less intimidating. I’m now using muscles I didn’t even know I had.
