Horrible people who almost let a guy expressing his first amendment right to film in public sidewalk get assaulted. If they wanted privacy get some curtains. They rather see someone naked walking the streets in front of children then a man recording in public. Disgusting

I haven’t gone to a workout class in a long time and only 1x reformer before, Andie led a super fun and welcoming class. Even though the class is very challenging I would recommend to people who are new to this format!

This is my favorite Pilates studio in the city!!

Sarah O, Sarah A, and Steven are great instructors. They’re super encouraging for beginners and I appreciate that every class/workout is different. I came in as a complete newbie (and tbh kind of intimidated by Pilates) but this studio and their instructors are so welcoming and helpful. Also the facility is very clean.

One of my close friends was harassed, physically assaulted and chased while he was expressing his first amendment right by a Sean O'Malley impersonator and a Homeless lady with a dog. Do not recommend going if you're a photographer or videographer

Staff was upset with a person exercising their right to photo/video from an area was ignorant. The individual was threaten and harried and could have been physically harmed. This establishment has clear windows that exposé’s everyone exercising. If you want privacy then you should create privacy and probably not have clear open windows from the street that everyone one walking by can see from public.

BodyRok is my favorite place to work out, and I particularly enjoy attending classes at the Height Street studio. It’s very conveniently located and you can’t really find other comparable gyms/workout studios in the neighborhood. It’s also close to many different bus lines and ~10 mins from the N.

On weekdays, they offer 10+ classes/day, so you can really make it work for your schedule. I really like the music and the lights and just being able to listen to the instructor and not have to plan out a routine for myself. Each day focuses on a different muscle group, so the same class is offered throughout the day (with some variation according to instructors) no matter if you’re going at 7:30 am or 7:30 pm. This also makes it easy to hop between studios between days depending on where you are!
I think the key to getting the most out of it is finding an instructor whose style and music taste you like and trying to attend their classes more regularly.

If you’re new, the instructors do a good job at explaining the machine and offering modifications to you, which makes it less intimidating. There can be a bit of a learning curve with the names of the moves but once you start recognizing those, it gets way easier! I think some people are afraid of the difficulty level, and while the classes are challenging, you can modify any move. I’m 300+ classes in and take modifications all the time - it’s about listening to your body and focusing on your breath!

Sometimes the classes book out pretty far in advance, but i have been lucky with some last minute bookings and getting off of the waitlist. I think there’s only once or twice in the past 2 years of going that I’ve shown up while waitlisted and not gotten in (but these were at other studios in the city like FiDi or Polk)

I wish i could give 4.5/5 stars because I would deduct half a star because the Haight studio machines are so close to each other that it’s hard to walk around / navigate. Even removing one machine would allow for better spacing, but I suppose the number of machines in each studio is informed by studio economics and needing to maximize attendance.

Bonus: Tony’s pizza after class never misses

Amazing hiit focused pilates! Super intense workout that will show you results after 5-10 classes. Instructors and patrons are both super sweet. I would especially recommend Stephen, Meg and Sana for beginner classes, they are super informative with good energy and help you with your form. If you do the intro class offer, you will definitely get addicted and purchase a membership.

I first went here to try out something new and it was highly rated in Class Pass. I took Sarah A.’s Sunday class at 2pm and OMG it was a great workout! Sarah A. is great at giving swift, detailed instructions while also being motivational as you side eye her for saying the next move. Sarah A. and all the front desk staff are always friendly and easy to talk to. After the first interaction with Sarah A., I keep coming back to her classes despite the muscle soreness I get afterwards. Haha would highly recommend!

A variety of instructors at the Pilates studio. I like that there’s set class programming in terms of which movements you are doing, though assistance on form varies a lot as some instructors will offer feedback on form and others don’t. However, if you keep coming consistently it becomes easier and more natural over time. After going for 4 months, This is definitely the most toned my core has ever been, and my obliques are really strong. Cool to see and feel the improvement over time!

4.5 stars
I was a Bodyrok member for a year and only stopped because I moved farther away from the Haight location. For Pilates places in SF, I feel like Bodyrok is the most beginner friendly and the most affordable. They often run deals and promotions (like 50% off for two months, deals on prepaid memberships, extra classes in class packs). Overall, I like the consistency of Bodyrok classes and that each day has a different focus. Front desk staff are always friendly and accommodating. Some of the instructors offer more feedback than others, and I found some of the workouts to be redundant after a while of going. However, I often find myself sore from the workout, so it definitely targets the right muscles. The only improvement I wish the Haight location would make is further air conditioning/fans during the warm months, as the studio sometimes steams up from the body heat and the mirrors get all foggy, which is gross. Otherwise, I really enjoy Bodyrok and the Haight location.

I’m not typically a Pilates person or a Bar person, but I am addicted to these classes. They are so fun, creative, and interesting. The movements change monthly, and there is always great music. The classes are challenging, but the movements feel very safe and supportive. I am getting stronger, and I feel like my low back is being protected in all facets of my life. This is great for cross training and injury prevention, as well as getting a strong core and total body!

Staff and instructors are friendly, knowledgeable. I love this place. A little about my background, I have been practicing Pilates for the past 6 years at club Pilates and when I walked into BODYROK I was a little intimidated at first: the equipment is different, it is more athletic and fast paced but once I started working out, soon I was able to cope with pace and the staff is super helpful. Studios are always clean, music is upbeat and fun and the workouts are great. Front desk staff at the Haight is always fun and friendly.
