I’m a local and BodyTek is overall the BEST gym in big bear for the cost. There was one gym I went to for a couple of months (Fitness source) which was about $60 per person ($120 for my husband and I) which is outrageous especially because that only included the very basic gym and classes that are during work hours. The rest of the spaces in the gym are like an extra $10 each. Insane.

BodyTek is what I would consider a normal price for a family owned gym, there’s a sauna, a great schedule of classes, an upstairs area for additional stretching space or workout space, a bathroom
And shower. There’s a space/play area for kids (about 1 year old and up) which is awesome since we have a little one.

For the cons, some of the equipment is a bit aged but everything works for what you need it for. There’s no free weight leg press machine which is just a personal favorite of mine. I work about 10 hours a day and have a baby so having a flexible schedule that’s open late and on the weekends would be more helpful for me and my partner to get an extra and longer workout in.

The owner is very kind and helpful and all of the staff are wonderful as well. Other places up in big bear people seem a little uptight and distant.

So now we come here consistently as a family and are getting healthy.

Spending more time up the mountain and was looking for a gym and out of blind luck ended up at BodyTek. Cory answered my questions and told me his wife was teaching a class in 10 minutes.

Jonni's class kicked my butt! The routine and tempo were right up my alley and she made me feel at ease in the class. I will be back......as soon as I can walk normally again. Great local gym!

If you’re visiting and just up here for the day, then this will probably get the job done. If you’re a local, you should probably find somewhere else to go. The equipment is all very old, and some of it is broken. I couldn’t complete a majority of my workout because the weights I needed on the machines were damaged in such a way that I had to pick a heavier weight and risk hurting myself. So I had to skip for my own safety. Theres also just a general lack of basic gym equipment that I found myself wishing I’d just stayed home instead of waste money on a day pass.

Was looking for a "home gym away from home" while staying at our cabin and found myself a GEM in Bodytek. Owners are lovely, energetic, knowledgeable and fun. Great class options for all fitness levels, comfortable environment and the regulars are all warm and welcoming. Also very flexible on plan options - drop in, weekly, monthly or even punch cards so you can pick the program that works best for your schedule if you are a part-timer like me and don't want to miss out on your workouts. Highly recommend.....5 STARS!

Family oriented

All types of fitness classes from yoga to crossfit and HIIT

The owners, and instructors, themselves are very fit and knowledgeable

Good atmosphere with all the equipment you need and even a room for your kids to play in while you workout

Cardio and weight room have a great view

Trustworthy staff and the clientele seem to be easy going locals

Pretty sure some of the local fire department workout regularly here as I saw a few burly men carrying rucksacks and running to simulate carrying people out of buildings
