Miles is a miracle worker. In only 45 minutes I was holding my breath with ease for 2 minutes while doing pushups and feeling like I could fly. That feeling lasted the entire day!

I've meditated for years, and it normally takes me 10+ minutes to settle - and the peace often fades once the day begins. Miles’ breathwork changed that instantly. His simplest technique takes under 10 minutes and brings me straight into deep calm, clarity, and focus that lasts for a few hours after (and can be topped up with another short session). The effect carries into daily life, even under pressure.

I’ve used Wim Hoff's techniques before (Miles is a certified instructor), and found Mile's unique approach to be even clearer, easier to follow, and guaranteed to give the same fantastic, immediate results - whether you’re experienced or brand new to breathwork. I first experienced his teaching at a BJJ seminar and instantly felt the impact on composure and performance.

If you want a simple practice that delivers real, lasting calm and focus, I highly recommend Miles. Honestly, he is about as good a guy as you are ever likely to meet. He exudes positive energy and practices what he preaches - it is a lifestyle for him - so you won't find a better teacher.

Life transforming.

“From Gasping on the Mat to Breathing Like a Boss-Level Yeti”
Look, I’ve rolled with some tough cookies on the Jiu Jitsu mats—guys who tap faster than a caffeinated squirrel—but Miles Lukas? This dude’s not just a black belt wizard; he’s the lovechild of Wim Hof and a human snow cone machine. I just wrapped up OGS (that’s “Old Grapplers Summit” for the uninitiated, or as I call it, “Oh God, Save Me from My Own Lungs”), and holy hyperventilation, it’s like he hacked my respiratory system with a cheat code.
Facts first, because even in comedy, Miles is all about that evidence-based enlightenment: Certified Level 2 Wim Hof instructor who’s summited snowy peaks with the Iceman himself (no frostbite, just pure zen). Founder of Breath Fitness in sunny San Diego—where the biggest chill is from his cold plunges, not the weather. And get this: He’s a BJJ black belt who turns breath work into a secret weapon against comp anxiety, so you go from “I’m gonna puke on my opponent’s gi” to “Watch me chokehold this doubt like it’s a white belt armbar.”
But here’s where it gets funny (and life-changing): Pre-Miles, my breath game was weaker than a vegan at a steakhouse—shallow pants during rolls, turning purple faster than a bad tattoo decision. Post-OGS? I’m breathing like a dragon who’s just discovered yoga. I tried his techniques mid-spar: Inhale deep enough to inflate a hot air balloon, exhale like you’re evicting a bad tenant from your soul. Next thing you know, I’m reversing a mount while humming “Let It Go” from Frozen—because why not? Miles has you squeezing breaths to your head like you’re prepping for a brain freeze party, and suddenly, cold showers feel like a spa day with penguins.
His sessions? Pure gold-plated hilarity wrapped in transformation. We’re power-breathing in circles, looking like a cult of asthmatic superheroes, and Miles is there with his chill vibe, dropping gems like, “Breathe through the discomfort—it’s just your excuses trying to escape.” By the end, I wasn’t just surviving Jiu Jitsu; I was thriving, plotting world domination via Wim Hof walks on the beach (sand optional, enlightenment mandatory).
If you’re a grappler gasping for air or just a human who forgets to breathe between Netflix binges, sign up for Breath Fitness yesterday. Miles didn’t just teach me techniques—he turned me into a walking, rolling, ice-bathing legend. 10/10, would hyperoxygenate again. Namaste in bed? Nah, namaste on the mat—with Miles, it’s namaste everywhere.
(Pro tip: Bring tissues. Not for tears—for when your ego taps out from laughter and lung fireworks.)

Recently had the pleasure of meeting Miles during a retreat where Miles led us through breath work sessions, cold plunge, and cold recovery. Miles proved to be an expert in his field and left everyone feeling better than they did before class. He has an amazing demeanor that is very positive and highly energetic. Just being in his presence leaves you feeling happy. I would highly recommend Miles for personal coaching, small group retreats, and large conferences.

I really write reviews, but I wanted to share this. Getting a breath work coaching session from Miles was an amazing experience. he not only guided us through the movements and explain to us what was happening. It was so cool to feel what he was explaining. And what I really liked about it was that this is applicable to the hard things that we do in life whether it’s Bjj, surfing, an ice bath. We did the ice bath the following day and it was no problem because I just was able to breathe through it and I learned how to control what was happening. super fun and I’ll definitely do it again.

I participated in Miles' breath and cold plunge workshop, and it was unlike any other experience I have ever had. I was very intimidated, as I hate being cold, and had no idea what a breath workshop would entail. The breathing techniques we learned have helped me regain energy and control over my emotional reactions, especially as I get tired or frustrated on long days. Somehow, Miles made the cold plunge experience fun. After the first minute in the pool, calm came over my body and mind. Miles is a great speaker, and the 4-hour workshop flew by. I intend to do one of his retreats in the future.

I signed up for the Wim Hof Breathing retreat because I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression throughout my life. I’m walking away from the experience with concrete, scientifically supported breathing, cold exposure, and mindset tools that I will integrate into my daily routine. Beyond that, I’ve found a community I deeply connect with, and this, too, adds deep value to this experience. Undoubtedly, this experience has gifted me with benefits beyond those I was seeking. I’m grateful to Miles for bringing us together and teaching us about the Wim Hof Method. 🙏🏼

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the 2024 Wim Hof January Winter Expedition, and I am absolutely thrilled to share my experience with Miles Lukas, one of our esteemed instructors for this incredible journey.

From the moment I met Miles, I knew I was in good hands. His warmth and inviting nature made the beginning of the expedition feel like a breeze. He greeted each participant with genuine care and ensured that everyone felt grounded and ready for the adventure ahead.

Throughout the expedition, Miles demonstrated not only his kindness but also his profound knowledge of the Wim Hof Method. He expertly guided us through the techniques, always backed by scientific understanding, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. His passion for the method was palpable, and his enthusiasm was infectious, motivating the entire group to push beyond our limits.

What truly set Miles apart was his ability to connect with each of us on a personal level. As an instructor, he didn't just lead from the front; he walked alongside us, sharing his insights and experiences as a fellow human being on a journey of self-discovery. His genuine interest in our well-being and growth fostered a sense of camaraderie within the group, creating an environment where everyone felt supported and encouraged.

I just completed Wim Hoff's Winter Expedition in Poland and I had the absolutely honor to have Miles as my instructor. The program was solid but what really made it phenomenal was Miles as my instructor and his vast knowledge about the practice and the science behind it which is fascinating. I learned so much more than I thought I would and it was enlightening to have my world opened up in this practice. I live in Miami, FL and have been practicing the Wim Hof Method for over 4 years now, I thought I knew a lot about it but boy was I wrong.

5 days in Poland pushing myself emotionally and physically was surely demanding and hard but Miles made me feel so safe and warm - I feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have had him as my instructor. He is absolutely a fantastic human being and the passion he has can easily be seen and very contagious. The work he did holding space for our group (23 people) was truly magical. I would recommend him to all my friends and family in a heart beat. When I am in San Diego I will surely attend anything he is teaching. Amazing just amazing.

WIM HOF METHOD
SATURDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2023
GRACIE U – SANTA CRUZ

Miles Lukas provided a 4-hr presentation of the Wim Hof breathing method at the Gracie University Santa Cruz studio. The presentation included a brief history of Wim Hof and the breathing techniques he developed to overcome the body’s physical barriers thru a symbiotic relationship with the mind.

Following the orientation and self-introductions, Miles developed the didactic portion of the class thru various breathing and meditative exercises. These exercises simultaneously expunged the CO2 and increased the O2 saturation in the circulatory system. Some may consider this as hyperventilation. On the surface, it does appear to be so. But the other component to this exercise also changed the brain’s perception of available oxygen in the body, the body’s response to oxygen debt, and the brain’s capacity to allow the body to overcome daily barriers presented by normal parameters.

After a major breathing exercise, the class was tasked to do push-ups, as many as one can perform in one round, then discuss the results. As background information, I’ve had both of my shoulders scoped out, each taking 9 months of recovery time. My disability limitations are not to exceed 25# of lifting over my head. I adhere to this medical limitation, as I have difficulty with power equipment weighing 13# with my arms stretched out in front of me. Lately, I’ve had to curtail my push-up regimen to just a static position because of constant pain in the shoulders while doing push-ups. My normal routine is 50 reps, 4 sets, interspersed with other exercises. After the breathing exercise, I was able to run thru 50 push-ups without any pain whatsoever.

Next came the ice bath. We were informed that the water would get colder as the class proceeded with each group of bath entrants. I was with the second-to-last group of people to enter the ice bath. I remained in the bath for 3 minutes, comfortably, and comfortably immersed my head as I exited, without feeling an “ice cream headache”. My shivering was very minimal as I did not feel hypothermic. Yes, I felt a little cold, but I didn’t seek to towel-dry myself and put on clothing to warm up.

I have some experience with cold exposure and un-aided warming-up: I regularly take one of my guns for a mile paddle, rain or shine, all year ‘round, then go thru a regimen of push-ups, crunches, pelvic and body stretches, Pilates, rolling, and soft-sand sprints. Formerly, I did 4 sets of these exercises, 4-5 times per week. Now, at 71, due to time constraints and my wife worrying about my whereabouts in shark country, I do 2 sets, 2-3 times per week. Basically, this has been my Lifeguard routine for 46 years.

Miles, thank you for being willing to come up and present this program. Hope to be seeing you again, either in the ice bath, or on the mat.

Mahalo and aloha,

Calvin Hom
