My daughter loves her classes at British Swim School, Sunnyvale! The instructors - Ms. Karen Rice, Mr. Hart Vachon, and Ms. Samariah Payne - are patient, encouraging, and make learning to swim fun and safe. They make learning to swim fun while focusing on strong technique and water safety. My daughter looks forward to every session because of their encouragement and positivity.

I would also like to recognize Ms. Shawna, the administrator, for her exceptional coordination and communication. She’s always welcoming, responsive, and goes above and beyond to make scheduling and class transitions smooth.

Highly recommend this team - they truly care about each child’s progress and confidence in the water!

Took our son here for weekly classes at 3 months old and couldn’t be happier. 2 months in he isn’t afraid of water, deals well with cold water in & out transitions, and generally is very happy during and after his swim class. We are happy with our choice of starting early and trusting British Swim School in this journey

The pool temperature is just too cold for kids, I took my baby out after the second lesson since they promised some change after the first lesson which didn't happen. I will transfer my toddler by the end of the month.
It is sad since the instructors seem nice and probably good but it doesn't matter once the kids are suffering in the water because of the temp.
The 24 hour facility is disgusting there is plenty of hair around every drainage within the shower area, seems like they never clean them, although not the British swim's fault but still I would change the pool provider!

We tried British Swim School in Sunnyvale for our daughter. The instructor was kind and welcoming, but overall the experience wasn’t what we expected. The pool area and the locker area didn’t feel as clean as we had hoped, and my eyes started burning from the time we entered the pool until we left class. The pool is also not a kids-only space. After the first class we decided it wasn’t the right fit. While part of the tuition was refunded, the registration fee and first class weren’t, even though the website advertises a “Risk-Free Guarantee.” It would really help if policies were clearer and the environment more child-focused. I also tried contacting both the local and corporate office but didn’t receive a clear resolution, which was frustrating.
Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not recommend this location.

My kid started swim classes about 4 months ago and absolutely loves going! She has learned so many swimming techniques, and I have to give huge credit to Ms. Karen Rice. She is an excellent teacher—very focused and structured. My daughter started at Turtle 1 level and already moved to the next level, thanks to her. Ms. Karen is a strict instructor who really wants kids to concentrate, and I believe that helps them tackle the more difficult techniques. She teaches in a way that prepares kids for athletic competitions.

I also want to mention Samaria Payne—she’s such a sweet and patient instructor. If you prefer a soft and gentle approach, she’s wonderful. Both Ms. Karen and Ms. Samaria (along with Ms. Hart) are really good, so it depends on what style you’d like for your child.

We were really disappointed with the Tuesday Tadpole class. Both my husband and I attended separately and had the same experience — the instructor, Karen Rice, came across as very unfriendly. Not directly toward the kids, but her overall attitude around them made the class feel tense and uncomfortable. I just don’t understand why this kind of attitude is acceptable in swim classes for children. It wasn’t what we hoped for in a first swim experience. Would recommend asking for a different instructor if possible.

My daughter loves the swimming lessons. Her instructor KK is very patient with kids. She is so skilled in teaching kids’ swimming. We also met other two instructors as substitutes before and they are very good too! It’s surprising that my daughter moved to the next level quickly.

Our son is attending British Swim after attending Safe Swim Splash in Mountain View. The instructors get the kids swimming more to build technique and physical fitness, and have seen great results. He has progressed more in 2 months than he did in the previous 12months at Safe Swim Splash

We've had a great experience with the British Swim School! We were looking for a new swim school for our kids after moving, and of all the locations I contacted, Shawna was the most responsive and thorough. Pros after signing up:
- we found the team very kind, easy to work with, and accommodating
- managing make up sessions and absences is super easy with their app
- we don't have to worry about the weather since lessons are indoors

We had a fantastic experience at this school! Karen Rice is a wonderful instructor and clearly loves her job. These classes helped our toddler work through her fear of the water and Karen coached her through it all, in a gentle and positive way. She can now jump into the pool on her own and go under water without fear. Would highly recommend!!

One of the things that is not mentioned is that if you skip a class, you can’t take the make up class if you unsubscribe even if you have paid for it. The app doesn’t inform you of this. It even shows that the classes are still eligible in the make up class section, during and after unsubsciption. The app says explicitly that the makeup classes expire after some months. And this completely misled me. And my schedule was messed up and I lost two paid classes. I reached out to them via text msg asking for a refund as their app is misleading they just ignored my texts and stopped responding even after I followed up.

We've been absolutely thrilled with our experience at the British Swim School at 24 Hour Fitness - Sunnyvale. My daughter started in the Turtle 2 program with zero swimming skills, and I'm amazed at how far she's come! She can now confidently swim and stay afloat.
The instructor's patience and gentle approach have been crucial in building her confidence in the water. The lessons are always fun and engaging, making learning a truly enjoyable experience.

This is long overdue but I feel like I have to share this with the community.
I was taking my two kids to the swim classes twice a week. The pool is the 24h fitness pool and the water is really cold. You could see kids shiver when they wait for their turn. For a group class of 4, the class is 25 minutes, last 5 minutes are play time. So divided by 4 that gives around 6 minutes per kid and they’d each wait 21 minutes shivering.
For the toddler class the parents are supposed to do the moves and follow the teacher. The student to teacher ratio is too high for that class.
We complained about the water being too cold but nothing changed.
For the price payed and trust me I didn’t know at the time, we overpaid way too much. The kids didn’t learn anything for months.
I have a friend who took her kid there and she has the exact same experience as me so I decided to post this review. If your kid is new to swimming, you’ll pay way too much money for little to no results. I would recommend doing private classes but you’ll be overpaying again.
The good parts were classes being on time, make up classes were easy to schedule. There were instances where classes were canceled and we got literally same day notice but these instances were rare overall.

This review is specifically for Karen Rice. She is the best instructor my son has ever had! Her care, encouragement and drive has pushed him out of his comfort level and I am forever grateful. He went from being afraid of the water to asking to do laps in the pool in a matter of months. Thank you Karen for caring for him, giving him constant high fives, and being persistent.”

Have taken kids as well as adult swim lessons here and we have loved them. Going here for over an year now and Ms. Samariah is one of our favorites. It is located inside a 24x7 fitness facility and the best part is that the pool is indoors so you can always go irrespective of the weather. The app is also very user friendly to manage back up lessons. Highly recommend!

I took adult swim lessons at British Swim School. Hart Vachon was an excellent instructor. He helped me overcome my fear of the water. With Hart’s guidance, I learned how to do freestyle and backstroke, and how to recognize adjustments needed to my technique. I highly recommend classes with Hart.

British Swim School, led by Shawna and her crew, has been a total game-changer for my family! Last year, when my boys (4 and 1) were scared of the water, Shawna, Coach Samariah, Coach Karen and Coach Marissa, worked their magic. Now, they're not just confident swimmers but total water babies!

Shawna and her crew aren't just great at teaching swimming; they're also fantastic listeners. We mentioned that the pool water was a bit chilly, and they worked with the facilities to get it fixed and significantly warmer. Now, my boys rave about how cozy and relaxing their lessons are.

They go out of their way to make sure my boys get the same time slots and work with their favorite coaches. It's like having a personalized swimming experience every time.

In short, British Swim School, especially with Shawna at the helm, has turned my boys into fish and made swimming lessons a highlight of their week. Couldn't recommend them enough!

My 4 year old and 7 year old started here somewhat recently. They have previous experiences and 4yo tend to resist going in the water, despite eventually liking it, every single time. I was amazed how good the instructors were at convincing him to get in the water. They love going swimming classes and I can see some progress already. The facility is ok enough. I highly recommend this place for young kids.

Adult swimmer here who needed to improve stroke and gain confidence in the water. I worked with Karen Rice and she was a fantastic teacher. Pays attention to details, gives clear direction and works with what the students want to learn. I will join again to continue working on my strokes and learn new strokes.

This is a good school. My toddler goes here for a month now and is not afraid of water as much.
Karen does a great job. You need to be a little aloof and not try to communicate with/pacify your child in distress if you are the non-swimming parent.
The only downside of this facility is water is cold and that makes my child fall sick every time after the class and had to miss subsequent sessions. We had to miss almost every other week and that isn't helping with our child's learning.
The management is slow to respond. I tried pausing/canceling the subscription at 3rd month requesting via email. And dang, I got charged the next day and I couldn't get in touch with them. I hope they refund.

Swim teachers, don't show kids how to do that particular task of swimming, instead they only tell them how to swim.
If they show practically once that task before they teach kids, thanks kids will understand and see practically how to do it.
So that increases faster learning among kids.
That's the concern, rest all is good.
Teachers are very nice and polite.

Karen Rice who is really nice taught my son to swim and I will be forever grateful! Her firm direction created a safe space in the water for my son to learn. Karen's instincts are well honed to know when a child needs a push to strive to level up & when to lend a helpful hand 🛟 thank you!

My 2-year-old and 5-year-old started taking classes recently, and we love the teachers for Swimboree and the Starfish class. I really love how they're familiarizing my children with water in a positive way in addition to a good basic skills for swimming, and my children are enjoying themselves a lot. Looking forward to more classes!

I’m pretty satisfied with the swim school and their professional teaching. The staff there is knowledgeable and is great at working with children. I’m also happy about their flexibility. My child is thrilled to go to the swim school and learn new techniques or improve hers every time. Moreover, the pool is indoors and we don’t have to worry about the weather. I would recommend anyone to try the swim school

The experience has been amazing. I have seen how teachers are supportive and kind with kids that are so nervous to enter the water. The kids gain not only swimming abilities but gain also in sef-confidence. Highly recommend.

The best place you can find for your child to learn swimming. The instructors are skilled, patient and knowledgeable. My son is going here since 2 months and he has already passed basic and moved to a higher level. The whole management and staff is very warm and welcoming. They teach and take care of all students with respect and great care. After a long time I have found a place that I can vouch is the best for swimming.
