The program is great and my daughter has learned a lot from this school. The only thing I have to say is the rotation of teachers is frequent and some instructors are inexperienced. Some instructors are very good and know which areas for each student to work on and be able to adjust the program. Overall I would recommend this school for kids to learn the water survival skills.

My kid has gained much confidence and advanced in skills since attending British School School at the Aloft. Instructors and deck officers are always friendly and encouraging. My kid conquered the fear of water and began swimming independently for short distances. They stay on top of progress report, so all milestones are snapshot at a glance.

Aloft Millbrae is the best swimming location for kids that has disabilities. All of the instructors like Ethan and Kai are knowledgeable and skilled in teaching my kids. They are patient and understanding. Staff Rowan is polite too. Admins like Lani and Carolyn are so friendly and courteous when I talked on the phone and email. Definitely I will enroll my kids next year, I hope you can find a location for dolphin classes in San Francisco hotels. Cheers

Facility is clean, secure and parking is convenient. Staff are all friendly and approachable. The on-deck staff updates the teacher and the parent at the beginning of each session to clarify skills that need to be worked on. Small class ratio allows teacher to spend enough time with each student. Teachers are skilled to make connections with toddlers. Can't remember all the staff's name, but greatly appreciate Rianna, Jamie, Eddie, Maddie, Aliyah, etc for consistently helping my child to progress. Management team is understanding and work tirelessly with parents regarding scheduling to enable continuity. Thank you British Swim School for fostering a great learning environment!

I have not personally used this company for swimming but I did have a room at aloft and I was VERY upset that my grandkids could not enjoy the pool as planned for my short visit because of their swim class I expressed my frustration and they were 100 percent so professional! They immediately made arrangements for us to use a neighboring pool and all was perfect! I am disappointed that the hotel doesn’t not inform guests but the swim team…ALL of them were so great! And from what I could see while watching they were so great with the kids . 100 percent recommend!

We’ve been so happy with Jamie at the British Swimming School in (Aloft hotel) Millbrae! My son has been taking lessons for just over a month, and today’s experience was the best so far. Jamie was welcoming and incredibly taking the time to check in with us, each child, writing notes about their progress and what to focus on.
My son has mastered most of the skills, but there was one area he needed extra attention on. Jamie made sure the instructor focused on that skill and offered additional support from the side of the pool to help him improve. Her dedication and involvement truly stand out.
Jamie’s exceptional customer service and attention to detail make her a standout. The school needs more people like Jamie. We’re so grateful for her support and for making the experience so positive for my son. Thank you, Jamie!

This is the first location where I enrolled my daughters and we absolutely loved it. It was very hard for my eldest because of the fear she has with water to the point where I almost took her out. Im glad we kept her in because George has helped her progress! He was so good with calming her down and helping her to stay motivated by always cheering her on! Thank you George for helping her to get to where she is now and making her feel comfortable. Also, Jamie and Kyrene have helped tremendously with all my request just to make sure that we can get my daughter with the right instructor. Thank you also for all the encouragement you guys give! very good service and the instructors are very thorough with how the explain the lessons. i’ve noticed some instructors do things differently. but instructor jessie has been teaching my two sons. they’re both in different levels but he manages to explain to them what they need to hear and he demonstrates very well. My son who’s in Turtle2 has shown a lot of progress with his butterfly kicks. The Shift ambassador Kyrene was very helpful the first day we joined, she’s always attentive with the students and overall helps the classes run smoothly.

Great way to learn water safety and swim fundamentals. Jamie, Crystal, George and Jesse are awesome. I do think the larger groups aren’t as effective bc kids don’t get enough time in water. But two person lessons are good and of course 1:1 is the best but really pricey.

Was in a rush to enter review due to a meltdown in the car. Editing for Additional details.
I'm terrible with names unfortunately but so far all the instructors have been great and they don't bounce around too much like another swim school we went to.
Our son progressed quickly thanks to the back to school blitz (coming 3 times a week for about 6 weeks) and we've been seeing great improvement in his water confidence.

My 4 year old son is both curious and fearless when it comes to water. This can be tricky when you don’t quite understand water safety or know how to swim yet…We are so grateful for Teacher Jessie and the British Swim School team on Mondays. Their calm, upbeat attitude makes such a difference, especially with the little ones. Teacher Jessie never seems to get flustered, no matter what move my son decides to surprise him with, and he keeps every lesson fun and engaging. It's easy to see why he is my son’s favorite! Thank you for creating such a positive, confidence-boosting environment in the pool.

We have been coming to (Aloft Millbrae)British swim school for 2 years now. My son is almost 5 years old and has progressed very well. It is a process and takes time to reach different levels, but the trainers do a great job making sure the kid is confident and is technically good to move up.
We did the summer program in Millbrae meadows for 4 weeks and it was a lot of fun.
It was intense for a 4 and half year old but he powered through and learnt a lot.
Josh was his trainer and he made it fun for all the kids and trained very well.
All trainers Rianna, Yasmin, Jesse and some of those whose names I may have missed have been great helping Silas in his sessions and have been good and friendly. Rotation of teachers also help the child become more social and confident
Recently trainer George fixed my son’s technique by telling us that his chin needs to be touching his neck while doing his freestyle and that’s when we can also see his legs kicking the water. This is and was a very helpful tip. We are hoping our kid can continue learning and achieving more with his swim lessons at British swim school.

We enrolled our 18-month-old son at British Swim School after a disappointing experience elsewhere, and the improvement has been remarkable. After just two sessions, he’s already showing progress. The instructors are fantastic, especially Kai, who gave our son a lot of attention. Our son has even started closing his mouth when submerging, which is a big step forward.
However, one area that needs improvement is the water temperature. During class, our baby was shivering and remained cold for a while afterward. The manager on deck mentioned they couldn’t find the pool maintenance person that morning, so they couldn’t adjust the temperature. With babies in the pool, maintaining a warm water temperature is crucial to prevent them from getting sick. I hope this issue is addressed promptly.

This school actually has many locations. My favorite one is Aloft Millbrae. Because there are plenty of parking slots, which is very important to me. I wrote a review on Yelp, but my husband puts reviews on Google, so I am just following suit:
I signed up my kids for semi-private swimming lessons, which I believe is $750/month. Their teacher is George, who is so great with my kids, especially my son, who has autism. Their instructor is gentle, very patient, but he still challenges my kids. The price is a bit steep, but I still love the British Swim School because my kids are becoming better, safer swimmers. I would highly recommend this swimming school, especially if you have kids with special needs.

Started my kid at the lowest 3+ level and she’s progressed quickly through the program. She always loved water but when she started, she had no idea how to keep herself afloat in water. After just one month, she was able to float on her own, and now after less than 4 months, she can swim short distances. My kid loves the class and loves the independence she’s gained in the pool.
Location specific: Aloft in Millbrae has a small, intimate pool but it’s always clean and never too busy. Parking is usually fine - occasionally tough but the school has done a good job letting us know when parking might be limited.
Special shout out to Rianna who is always very efficient and clear with her lessons. I can see my kid engaged and learning through the whole class.
Note: my kid probably progressed quicker than average because we were able to access a private pool immediately after most of her classes so she was able to keep practicing what she learned that day.
Classes are not cheap, but the skills my kid has learned is worth the cost for us.

I don’t usually leave reviews. But I am so pleased with the instructors and staff at Aloft, I have to write a note of recognition. I wish I remembered all the names of the instructors (they all deserved to be mentioned) but the school rotates the instructors around so it’s hard to keep track. I held off lessons since my oldest boy has ADHD and he can be confrontational when things don’t go his way. But the boys have enjoyed every instructor and every class.
-Sarah - first person to welcome us in the first class. Very professional and helpful!
-Julia is a supervisor and she is so personable that I have built a rapport with her.
-Emelin the deck ambassador is always keeping a watchful eye. My son gets so excited that he forgets the rules and Emelin is always there to help remind him without making him feel like he was reprimanded.
-Shannon- has been with my boys a few times and she is very kind and patient. Very clear with her instructions and has a very calm demeanor. She actually makes them calm too. She encourages them.
-Mia- friendly conversation with the kids and is always smiling.
-Melissa is super awesome. She makes it so fun for my boys! My boys are so rambunctious and she is able to make them feel welcome yet keep them in line! I have seen her with other swimmers and it surprises me how she can change the way she instructs base on the students personality.

This review applies to most British Swim School classes. We have explored several sites. What I like is the curriculum. It is well thought through and each level is building up on a previous level.
However, I give this an overall 2 star rating because the classes themselves need a lot of improvements:
1) each class is 30 minutes with 4 kids. At the end there is 5 minutes playtime. Plus there are several minutes in the beginning needed for a “hello” and high fives. Each kid spends a maximum of 5 minutes in the water!!! Think of your payments not for 30 minutes, but for 5 minutes!
2) several teachers spend a lot of time on more talking and more high fiving, which means you are loosing additional minutes from the 5 minutes you got.
3) the quality of teachers varies a lot. You got some that are able to explain and show everything very clearly and efficiently while you got others that are really slow and unclear. That applies to all sites: it’s a hit or miss with the teachers.
4) while the curriculum is well thought through, the majority of classes start with the same basics. Our child needs to learn side breathing to finish this level (red turtle). Instead of spending the 5 minutes on side breathing they start with see star and other basics. If you’re lucky you might have one round with side breathing. Which means you have to pay many, many lessons just to get the last task accomplished.
Today was a really bad combination of the above: teacher is inexperienced. Wastes a lot of time with greeting/talking. Doesn’t explain clearly what the kids should do. And what they do is basics.
Suggestions: a) class should be 45 minutes, b) teachers should have way more experience, and c) the class should focus on individual skills!
