I absolutely love Bunda Santa Monica! The atmosphere is always positive and motivating, and the workouts are incredible. Devin, the new manager, has brought such great energy to the studio. Nelson at the front desk is also fantastic, always friendly, helpful, and makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. The whole team creates such a great vibe. Highly recommend this location!

I used to come to Bunda through class pass but have been coming as an unlimited member since Jan 2025. 200+ classes later and I’ve never felt stronger! Consistency and sticking to the program is key! What’s really great about Bunda is that it never gets “easier” - you can progress by lifting heavier weights or by increasing your pace on the stairs. The staff and instructors are so incredible! They’ve gone through management changes and their new manager (Devin) is very kind!

I’ve been a loyal ClassPass member for over a year now, I love the ability to try many different workouts and studios that it offers. Ive been to 50+ different workout places and I’ve never had a bad experience - till now. Tried to go to Bunda for a 7:15 class. Arrived at 7:00 (I was the first one there) on the nose to do the waivers and class run down and all of that jazz. Most places recommend coming 15 minutes early but usually only take about 5-10 to get you prepped (if that), some even have links to the waivers online so you can do it early…. Not bunda! I arrived 15 minutes early and I was turned away (as demanded by the instructor…) for not being exactly 30 minutes early as it stated. 30 minutes early for a 45 minute class (so 2/3 of an entire class?) Unheard of! As I said, in the 50+ workout places I’ve been to I have NEVER seen that. It shouldn’t be that complicated. Signing two pieces of paper and getting a small intro to the class flow isn’t rocket science. And if it is, then please get off class pass/stop offering the class to free agent exercisers.

I love the Bunda workout. More than that, Bunda instructors are amazing, particularly at this location - they are strong, knowledgeable, and passionate about fitness. This type of instructor is rare to find in LA these days.
The reason for the 1 star review is for management. I’m starting to believe that they have expanded too quickly without the proper leadership infrastructure in place. If anything is awry with your account, it is impossible to get in touch with anyone. For example, I was unable to book classes with the $450 worth of credits I purchased and it took over a month for them to remediate it. At that same time, 20 class credits disappeared from my account, and 6 weeks later this issue is still not just outstanding, but completely unaddressed or acknowledged. This review is an attempt to get a response from Faranebi, and I will happily delete it/change to 5 stars for the instructors once the issue is dealt with.

TLDR: Bunda is great if you like a lot of rules that are inconsistently enforced. If you are new to working out in general, this may be a good option. If you are not new to working out, you will know that you don’t burn enough calories to lose any weight and may be annoyed with the constant preaching. Predatory business tactics- they refuse to acknowledge my cancellation requests. See screenshots.

Format is 3 rounds, where you either start on stairs or the floor, then switch mid round. Butt & leg days requirement equipment, upper body days usually do not. Your total time on the stairmaster is about 20 minutes, which is not much in terms of cardio. That’s why they encourage you take classes 5-6x/week to “see results” aka rip you off.
Bunda has many rules - arrive 30 minutes before your first class, no entry without Bunda branded equipment, no cell phones in class, don’t do your own workout, don’t start early so the class can start together, etc. So many rules that depending on the instructor that day or who has front desk duty, you may be able to skirt away without following any.
For example, they allow late entry but do not check if the member has all their equipment. As a result, I’ve had other members I share a station with attempt to use my equipment, which is unsanitary. When I brought this up to the front desk, they said, “just bring the equipment with you”. Or you can visually check they have it with them before allowing them to enter class?
I’ve witnessed other members openly use cell phones in class, not sanitize a station after sweating all over it, or staying on a stairmaster all throughout class with no switch - all against the “rules” but nothing is done.
There is a huge emphasis on progressive overload, nutrition, and asking for your money. They offered a summer challenge that if completed, yielded a Bunda brand beach towel. To participate in the challenge, however, you had to pay $20. You’re telling me I have to pay $20 on top of the $250/month to be part of this challenge? In this economy? Wild.
Besides the program absolutely destroying my knees when I had no prior knee pain, and receiving inappropriate modifications (instead of a curtesy lunge, do a B stance squat), the contributing factor why I left Bunda is because of their predatory business practices.
I provided handwritten notice (delivered in person to the studio)and notice via email of my request to cancel my membership. They have never acknowledged any of my emails. The only proof I have is a screenshot of a voicemail a front desk associate left me saying management confirmed my cancellation request.
If that’s the case, please tell me why Bunda charged me for another month. I have called and emailed repeatedly requesting assistance and have received no reply.
At this point, join a small gym or find a studio that actually cares about you. Don’t give this place your hard earned money - they’ll just keep asking for more.

Worst policy ever! I don’t leave bad reviews. But they have this 30 mins rule and if you book through class pass you don’t notice this, they don’t allow you in even if you come before the class! and then I come back, again the same day, they reject me to come in because I didn’t get a walk through! Seriously this is worse then a doctors apt. Better to walk the stairs and use some weights at home! Seriously and I work out everywhere from gyms to specialized workout equipment! This is the most rejecting place I have ever experienced. Inconvenient.

Ignore all reviews about being late. This is my favorite work out class of all time. I go 5-6 times a week and love it so much. It's a great combination of strength training and steady state cardio. The improvement to my strength as a result of consistently going to Bünda is better than any other class I've tried. I finally have a butt lol 😂. Heads up, you'll need to use the studio-specific equipment (you can rent, or if you plan on coming regularly just buy it).
People giving one-star reviews because they were late are unfair. There are emails sent to first-timers about studio policies. Showing up early is important so the trainers can walk you through all the equipment. Class moves fast, and form is really important with this kind of work out, which the trainers will walk through before it starts. I started my fitness journey with a personal trainer, and I still got injured because I messed up my form when I worked out without her, so I'm very grateful all the trainers here really care for all clients. If you've been before and you're late, it's disruptive to enter class after a round has started / distracts from any instruction or cues the trainers are giving to make sure everyone stays safe.

Really good workout, I’m drenched! Both the person at the counter and teacher were very friendly (not chatty but since it was busy I didn’t expect them to be). They didn’t charge for the equipment. Got a cold towel at the end. Five stars well deserved!

Have been an avid bunda goer in the past. Brought my friend from Chicago, we were 10 min early, and the woman refused to have us join the class bc we were not 15 min early. Asked politely and nicely if there was anything they could do & they would not allow her to join.

I first started going to Bunda a year ago before having to take a break due to surgery/health reasons. After going through this, one of the things that my sister and I look forward to each week is working out together in classes. I kindly asked the blonde receptionist at the desk (will find name) if we could be placed together like we normally are in the class. She was super rude and said the class was full and that she couldn’t do that; however, both of the spots next to be were available and the class was not in fact full. When some of the instructors have been at the desk, some are kind and gladly make it work; however, today I’ve just grown tired of overlooking the rude attitudes I’m typically met with. Even if she couldn’t make it work, it was more about the rude and off-putting energy and how people are greeted when they walk inside. After looking at other reviews, it’s clear that the staff is typically not kind or welcoming. I also genuinely feel that if you do not fit the profile of their target consumer, you will not be treated in the same way. People spend money and time to come to class (I drive over 30 mins) to feel positive and uplifted but I left feeling the exact opposite and I’ve just grown tired of ignoring the vibe. After today’s interaction, I unfortunately will never be coming back. I was also considering the franchise opportunities; however, the values of this place just don’t align with what I want to put out into the world and how I want to treat others.
That being said, Jennifer Apea is the brightest light there and has been my favorite instructor. She always has a smile and is a 10/10 instructor. There are some really talented instructors there; however, if you care about being in a welcoming environment with a positive vibe, just save your money and do the workouts at your gym (with online workout videos) or go to a more welcoming, uplifting environment that will make you feel good (I love Barry’s and G:50 Pilates studio)

I’ve taken 15+ classes at this Bünda location and have absolutely loved my experience here. I tried a free community class and have been hooked ever since! It’s an interesting workout combination that I’ve found to be super effective and endorphin boosting. I’ve loved classes from Caitlin and Emma who are great instructors. They really care about good form and helping you get the results you’re looking for! It’s a little annoying paying a few dollars to rent the mandatory equipment, but that’s my only gripe with the studio. Otherwise, I’ve had super positive experiences here.
Pro Tips:
- Free parking in the garage underneath
- Nice eucalyptus towels after class
- Try one of their free community classes
- Check them out on ClassPass

Denied entry because I wasn’t 30mins early for my first class. Never in my entire fitness career was a 30min lead time necessary to look over fitness equipment. I’ve had friends take the class before and actually arrive 30mins early and say they were sitting and wasting a lot of time. I know it was policy, but how is there no leniency even for a few mins? The gym doesn’t even open until 6am when my class started. My forms are filled out, I know what a stairmaster is……ridiculous. It’s not a specialty class. It’s not a personal trainer. Absolutely stupid policy for a fitness class that looks like all the rest.

Bunda is my obsession! This is the only
Workout I’ve ever been able to stick with consistently. I’ve been a member for over 2 years now. The trainers are amazing and all offer their own twist to the program to spice things up. The stairs are killer in the best way and the floor program is amazing.

AVOID JOSHUA ENGLE’S CLASSES
I’ve been going to Bünda on and off for a few years now and started being more consistent this year since I moved back to the Westside. Nicole Delgado is my favorite instructor here as she gives great cues on form, while Ray’s classes are the most fun (and challenging) but I’ve enjoyed every single Bünda class I’ve taken… That is, until I took Joshua Engle’s class for the first time today.
The entire class comprised of Joshua shouting commands repeatedly (e.g. “SIT YOUR BUTT DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN KEEP GOING KEEP GOING KEEP GOING GO GO GO”) and taking so much time to correct one person’s form that he neglects to cue the rest of the class. When I was on the stairs, many of the girls around me (including myself) were visibly irritated by his constant yelling and he also forgot to cue us a few times since he tended to hyperfocus on the floor.
Bünda classes are not easy but this was the first time I had to fight the urge to leave mid-workout. Bünda’s empowering female-friendly environment is what makes it special. If I wanted a bootcamp-style class served with a side of toxic masculinity, I’d just go to Barry’s.

Best workout studio ever! I’ve been going frequently for almost 6 months now, and my experience so far has been amazing. I’ve tried a variety of classes and instructors and they are all great. The front desk staff is welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Each workout is unique and challenging, and the program is effective. It never gets boring and pushes you to the edge. The instructors are top notch and take the time to motivate you and demonstrate the correct form until everyone gets it.
I highly recommend Bunda. It’s addicting!

i was excited to try my first class and arrived with my roommate 15 mins early to the 715am class. i get there and i am immediately rejected rudely by the receptionist because first timers are required to be there 30 full minutes early. i am left there unable to take the class and unable to get home because my roommate drove me and had to take a $30 uber back home along with the $49 dollar first class package. i have never had any studio across the country require first timers to get there a full 30 mins beforehand and actively reject anyone wanting to try the studio if they do not. it's such a ridiculous policy to have. no one needs to reserve over 2 hours of their time on a work day to attend a work out class. and to be embarrassed/rejected when you first walk in the door of the studio is not the way any gym should greet new timers who arrive 15 minutes before class begins. i think the studio needs to figure out operationally how to correct this harsh and unnecessary policy that deters new members.

BEWARE! I attended glute camp today with Joshua Engle and had a horrible experience. When switching between the stations, the girl who was at the floor station before me accidentally took my rental equipment because she mistook it for hers, so she brought it back to me. She quietly said “Oh my bad here you go” and I quietly said “Thank you”. It was a very fast and quiet exchange that did not disrupt the class. Joshua decided to stop dead in his tracks in the middle of talking to the whole class and glare directly at us until the entire silent also staring at the two of us. He proceeded to publicly humiliate the both of us in front of the entire class. I blacked out from embarrassment and angry but he went on a tangent that was completely disproportionate to the situation saying things like we were “not taking it seriously” and that he was the one teaching the class. The class was dead silent and frozen still, and it was absolutely humiliating! After his angry rant, he dramatically pretended like he forgot what he was saying prior to his outburst and angrily told us to start on the next station. I have never in my life been spoken to the way Joshua Engle spoke to me. He is clearly power hungry and angry and needs to be fired and mentally evaluated. I will never return to this establishment and unless you want to be publicly humiliated by an angry crazy man, you should not come here.

In my recent visits to your studio, I've encountered some challenges. I've consistently noticed a less-than-friendly demeanor from the woman at the front desk, which has left me feeling uncomfortable. During my second visit, when I requested an extra towel, I received a rather unwelcoming response, which made me question the customer service. Her demeanor and judgmental attitude have been consistent issues. I have literally see her role her eyes at me. Furthermore, during one visit, I arrived about one minute late, and I was told that any future lateness would result in being denied entry, which I find unreasonable given that unforeseen circumstances in LA can occasionally cause delays. Many workout classes typically offer a 5-minute grace period. Due to these experiences, I won't be returning to your studio.

Excellent workout, overpriced for what it is. Just stairmaster and simple weight workouts. Some of the front desk people are rude, a lot of hidden fees that are not posted or on the website. Be careful, if you go here use class pass so they wont have your credit card on file. I had to cancel my card and order a new one
Edited to add:
Although my original review is honest, I can say since then I’ve seen that the work outs vary and I have been gaining my energy back and losing inches. The girls that work there have been professional and courteous and I haven’t had any issues since the day I posted my original post. I really like this exercise program and look forward to seeing my progress.

I tried the Butt and Legs class via ClassPass. It was my first visit, and they were kind enough to walk me into the fitness room and explain the logistics of class *upon arriving 15 minutes early*. Rental equipment is free for first-timers. The exercise itself included stations and rounds, which I appreciate. I left sweaty and proud that I pushed through. I'm sure I'll be back.

It's convenient and a good workout but the class was pricey for what it was. You spend half the class on a stairmaster. They charge several dollars per class if you want the other equipment you need to do the workout. That does not match what their site says. It can be hard to follow the instructor depending on where you are in the room because of audio quality.

Pros: The workout itself is effective and the place is clean.
Cons: They aren't honest about the cost. Individual classes are around $18-30 depending on what package you get. But then they charge an additional $7 per class for "equipment rentals" and don't notify you that your credit card on file is being charged. These additional charges weren't mentioned while I was doing my introductory classes - they started appearing on my credit card statement once I decided to buy a longer term package.

Be Careful!!! This place Punish their customers and will suspend your class entry in 7-8 minutes!!!!! They change polices whenever they want without any notice!!! This morning I arrived 6am class after I exercise with them for almost 5 months to find out if you late in a minute(literally 6:01am) you need to sit and wait 7-8 minutes when the class is 50 minutes, because of a minute late!!!! I was very surprised and asked why????? I come to their 2 studios for few months and Never heard about this policy, and she replied "IT WAS POSTED ON INSTAGRAM, IF YOU DIDN'T SEE IT I CAN'T HELP".
I left the place and decided to check
their websit/app policies Nothing shows up!!! I called again later to clear my understanding and it was even worse!!! The lady that announced she is the studio manager told me they can change their policy and this is NOT THE 1ST TIME THEY DO IT, when I said that policy can't change on Instagram post!! She changed and said they emailed all customers..
THEY NEVER EMAILED- I checked it with 2 of my friends they never got an email too!
BE AWARE BEFORE YOU BECOME A MEMBER OR BUY PACKAGE FROM A PLACE THAT PUNISH YOU FOR NOT READING THEIR POLICY CHANGES ON INSTAGRAM POSTE!
