I have absolutely enjoyed being a member of this gym. It is incredibly clean, the staff is courteous and respectful. I have had no issues with the quality and variety of the workout equipment. The Rooftop workout area is amazing to be able to see the ocean while you're working out is an incredible treat! I was sad to have to leave due to the LA fires and my relocation to the east Coast. I am delighted to say that Kejo, the manager, was so polite and kind to work with me in this very trying time

Great neighborhood, boutique gym. Has all the free weights, cardio, and circuit machines you will need. Outdoor rooftop training area. Never overcrowded. Fair pricing. A few minutes walk from the beach.

Front desk Geo and manager Kejo are as kind as it gets in the gym world. This gym has almost everything you need to get in a solid workout. Many distinct areas, lots of free weights, machines, and stretch equipment. Towels provided, sauna on site, and even some boxing equipment. Their rooftop gives you amazing views of the promenade and the horizon in the distance, with several unique pieces of equipment on the rooftop. Love the turf up there too.

Was on a trip there with a friend for a week and wanted just a quick gym session, after searching around for gyms that werenโt super out of our budget we found this one and iโm glad that we did because Keja thomas was one of the nicest people we have met in our stay in LA thank you for making us smile with your joy wish the place and the staff all the best. 10/10 gym felt like a 90s style gym, beautiful cool view on the roof aswell must check out. :)

Great place to workout if youโre visiting Santa Monica! Single day passes are $35 but you can get a great workout in because thereโs plenty of equipment/weights and itโs not crowded. Also open decent hours on Sunday!

My husband and I dropped in today to check out the place. We are in the market for a new gym membership after being members at Equinox. Burn Fitness gave us a complimentary workout.
There is one floor and a roof. The gym is well
equipped, but all the weight machines are very close to each other. Also, the devices are pretty old and rusty. As you can see from my photos, some of the equipment was even ripped. The locker rooms can be cleaner too. They need to validate parking as well. You will likely find this gym run-down if you come from Equinox Club.
The bottom line, this is a basic, no-frills gym. Their monthly membership is only $95, so you get what you pay for.

This place is really solid. Location is great, rooftop access is awesome, clientele and staff are nice. The equipment isnโt especially new but who cares. If you want something better than 24hr/LAFitness but donโt want to pay for Equinox, this is your spot.

Never crowded, well-equipped and conveniently located gym on the Promenade. Friendly staff. Only knock against this place is shorter hours on the weekend.

I signed up with them in December. I have yet to hear from someone to give me the tour of the facility.
Decent equipment, however some of the machines are not working and fixing them doesnโt seem to be a priority.
Bathroom/ shower area desperately needs cleaning and monitoring for supplies.
I like the location, but after just a few months I cancelled my membership, this place itโs just too run down and not managed well.

This is a small, crowded gym located inside the Promenade. I found the equipment to be lacking for anyone that is a routine lifter. The equipment are all very rusty, outdated and limited (there are three squat racks total, 2 bench press racks). The men's locker room, showers and sauna are also stained and dirty. Finally, the owner of Burn Fitness, Dr. Tom Williams (PsyD) based on my personal observation and experiences is discriminatory against Asians. I observed him patronizing his front desk Asian male worker on occasion. I was also subjected to racist and/or discriminatory behavior from the gym owner. I have asked for an immediate refund and cancellation of my gym membership - which will likely not happen in several months time based on other reviews? Terrible gym for younger clientele!

I used Burn while on vacation in Los Angeles in August, 2022. Itโs located centrally in Santa Monica near all the shopping and is a very spacious, well equipped gym with free weights and cardio. The best part of the experience was the service of Alejandra at the front desk who was extremely nice and welcoming and was happy to answer any questions I had about the facilities. Because of that, I will certainly be returning and I would encourage anyone vacationing in the area to do the same.

RUN AWAY from this place..
***Save a ton of cash and go to 24hr** for way better equipment and facilities for only $300/for the whole year right now! That's less than half of what Burn costs and they have a pool!
everything goes great at 1st until they auto bill you even after cancellation in the middle of covid without consent. Watch your billing statements for these folks. Worst customer service ever who just keep passing you over to someone else. Very unprofessional!

Great gym! Staff is really friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is about the mask enforcement. Iโve seen a lot of people with their masks pulled down below their nose, wish the staff could go around and enforce the mask wearing a bit more

Burn Fitness is the best gym in Santa Monica. They have a huge rooftop with extensive cardio and weight equipment, which has been ideal for staying active during the pandemic. I'm especially thankful for the owner, Tom who has worked tirelessly to support members' needs. It's also really affordable to get a membership here, which is hard to find in Santa Monica. Highly recommend.

Joining Burn Fitness was my best decision of 2020! I joined over the summer because I needed a safe, clean and professional environment to exercise during the pandemic. They have cleaning supplies throughout the beautiful rooftop facility with both, mountain and ocean views.
It's clearly a herculean team effort and I am so grateful to everyone involved with keeping the gym in operation, including the front desk folks, maintenance staff, owners and personal trainers. I love taking Carly and Tom's group fitness classes in the morning, which has helped me maintain a positive and healthy routine during a really challenging time. Thank you, Burn!
Pro Tips:
- Bring your own fitness gloves to stay extra safe, clean and comfortable during your workout!
- Bring your own water bottle and towel
- No showers, so plan ahead

Great gym I've been going to for over 2 years. They've opened their roof deck during covid and I've been able to workout throughout Covid which has been great. Highly recommend this place to people looking for a gym that will be open when you need it and have the equipment you need to stay in shape.

The gym charged me an obscene amount of money last month at random without any notice or prior emails or calls ($360 in total) for what they said were membership fees from February when I started the gym (which I did in fact pay back in Feb) as well as the months during COVID. I had to prove to them that my membership had been paid for back in Feb by sending them bank statements and after two weeks of back and forth and terrible communication, they sent me a partial refund. Im still out $80 for a membership fee during the pandemic which is utterly ridiculous. Be careful when you sign up for this gym- they have messed up on my accounting more than once since I started in Feb 2020!!

Beware if you might ever want to cancel your membership! I showed up in person to cancel, was told to email someone, I emailed them. didn't receive a response in a week so I e-mailed again, no response. Tried again the next weekend, again nothing. So I called them and was told I had to email someone else! I got their phone number so I both called and emailed them. Emailed again after a week with no response. At this point I was fed up so I called my credit card to issue a charge dispute. that was a month ago, and now I see THEY CHARGED ME AGAIN! despite the CC dispute on the previous month.
No idea how else to get their attention, other than to warn others on yelp and google. This feels like this kind of behavior should be illegal. Regardless, this is super scummy business practices: avoid burn fitness!

I thought this was just another โclassโ studio, but I was very very happy to find out itโs Open Gym, and a nice upgrade from 24HR Fitness. Not only is the space totally clean and maintained but the staff is super friendly. Also: dry sauna. They host a bevy of talented Personal Trainers, and following an initial session with Kit I have no qualms of paying the going rate for his coaching!

Best neighborhood gym in LA! I've been a member of Burn Fitness for 6 years now and will never use another gym - and I live less than a block away from Golds gym in Venice. Not only have the trainers helped me achieve my fitness goals, they helped me fully recover from a knee surgery I had. My knee is now stronger than ever and I have full confidence in it. Additionally, Burn Fitness is always getting better. I've seen them grow over the last 6 years and now they are expanding even further with additional basement space. Over the 6 years, the staff turnover has been low and several of the same friendly employees are there and always greet me by my name and with a smile. Anyone looking for a no nonsense, friendly, gym at a great value, Burn Fitness will not let you down.

Well, where to start! BURN FITNESS truly changed my life for the better. Iโve always been a gym goer so having a gym that feels like home is important to me since I spend a lot of time there. The friendly environment and perfect location is the beginning of whatโs so motivating about this place. Iโve been working out with my personal trainer for 3 years now, using their online weight loss program, Iโve lost over 20lbs and have been able to keep it off! If you want real results, great customer service, great classes, indoor cycling, rooftop workouts, and a full service locker rooms with towel service included, then look no further! This place really has it all. I will be a BURN FITNESS member for life.

This is one of the worst gyms I have ever been to. Here's why:
1- The Heat - There are no ceiling fans and so the place is always hot and humid. They have one open balcony but no wind gets in because there are no other windows. No cross circulation. It gets so hot in there I've felt like I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion.
2- The Employees - They have the most unfriendly employees I've seen in a gym. Never a smile, never a hello. There's a blonde haired guy with short hair, a big egghead, and slouching forehead who works in the morning usually. He's completely aloof and ignores people swiping in. On top of that, there are two women working there who just look miserable all the time. They don't even know how to properly open the outside door from the back.
3- The Machines - There is about one machine for any given body movement. Then again, there isn't much room anyway. You find yourself breathing on top of people who are working out inches from you. There isn't even enough room to stretch.

I tried Burn Fitness out because it's very close to where I stay and work. They gave me a free day to try it out, didn't hassle me about joining and let me do my workout without interference. The facility is nice and clean, the equipment feels new and taken care of, the fellow gym-goers are nice and willing to share. Also the nice balcony/rooftop overlooking the third street promenade is pretty cool, except when the smell of the deep fried foods of the promenade waft into the place - torture for the weak-willed.
There are a few things that could use improvement though. Like most places I have tried in Santa Monica, squat racks seem to be as scarce as the fresh water supply (too soon?). There's only one barbell lifting cage, and let's just say it can see quite a lot of traffic at certain times of the day and can definitely slow down your workout. Too many unused machines that could be replaced with more useful squat racks and lifting cages. I've also noticed that some of the staff can be a little distracted at times.
Overall it's a nice gym to achieve gains, but could really benefit from some more traditional weightlifting equipment to save its patrons time. Do recommend, unless you're going to use my squat rack ;)
