Gym is extremely packed, and is always far too hot. For their “ac” system they only seem to have a few fans around the place. Half the treadmills and other cardio equipment are broken, and the ones that work are in a poor state. It’s not beginner friendly either, people there tend to stare judgmentally to newcomers. For the price, there are better and more accommodating gyms. Only upside is the staff is usually friendly. Would not recommend.

Tenga cuidado al cancelar. Yo pagué todos los meses restantes porque no podía asistir al gimnasio, así que me pidieron que pagara todo porque es un contrato y acepté pagarlo. Una y otra vez comenté que cancelaran el contrato porque ya había pagado y no me gusta deberle a nadie. Y resulta que nos llegó un cobro de un abogado, según por incumplimiento de contrato, cuando él sabía que yo estaba cancelando y pagando lo acordado, y él jamás me dio un papel de cancelación. Pero ayer, 22 de octubre de 2024, que fuimos, resulta que Steve puso 8 meses para que regresáramos al gimnasio y no canceló como tal, se le pidió al señor y se le pagó. Y él está actuando con alevosía y ventaja cuando se le informó que cancelara y no lo hizo.

Called to ask about membership pricing and the team member answering the phone had a terrible haughty attitude and said they don’t discuss pricing over the phone and I was like oh that’s a bummer because I have 3 little kids and a busy schedule and I was hoping to just get an idea and he was Beyond rude.

Then I mentioned Planet Fitness was able to give me a price (they also were HAPPY to give details & were very KIND) and he shot back with well we are definitely not planet fitness we are a big gym and blah blah blah — by that he means, he did NOT care about my business, my fitness journey or even me as a human because they make enough money as is.

Very impatient, rude, haughty, egotistical behavior and if that is the person they have greeting and handling customer service I believe that behavior will be part of that company’s culture & core — Unfortunate.

Why go into a place to request pricing when you get dismissed or mistreated at the door???

In-Shape (pending their environment & customer service) or Planet Fitness will be getting my business and I will NOT recommend CalFit to Anyone.

I was competing at JJWL in Stockton and needed to cut some water weight. I stopped at Calfit gym in Manteca and found that it offers Excellent customer service, reasonable prices, management makes you feel welcomed, and all the equipment is clean and in good working order. The place is always busy and it seems like the place to be on a Friday night if you're in Manteca!!! This is my go to gym whenever I am in town!!!

Consumer beware!! The cancellation process is an absolute nightmare. I had spoken to the owner Steve last year about my cancellation due to moving out of state. Steve said “he would take care of it “ and we left it at that. Come to find out my account remained open for months until I recently found out. The owner Steve is a cheapskate who will go after you for every single penny. Steve will even be petty and send you to collections. Do your self a favor and choose a different gym.

Management told us they would waive the cancellation fee and we just got a letter on the mail from a collection agency asking for payment. Management lied to us! Avoid at all costs!! Went today with intent to open a membership for my Husband and brother.

They had previously talked to Steven (owner) about pricing. I only heard good things about him. Great guy!

Unfortunately, We met HUGO at the front desk and we let him know about Steven’s offer. He became so defensive and very aggressive saying “Steven wouldn't say that” I didn't like how his demeanor changed almost accusing us of lying. I immediately called him out that he didn't have to make us feel some type of way.

He didn’t like how he got called out and got even more aggressive. Wow I have no words. It’s just sad how he treated us.

Im a business owner myself and Im positive this business will continue to lose clients because HUGO.

P.S. we signed one year membership with IN SHAPE today glad we brought our business somewhere else.

I've been trying out facilitys in the area for about the last week to find a good fit. Today I called this place as it's the closest to my house and the one I was 99% gonna join. Asked if they offered a day pass to try out the facility and was told day passes are $20!??? Major turn off...

The worst small business I've ever dealt with, and it's sad because I love supporting small businesses. They give you false information about your contract, and then claim its your fault. Communication is non-existent. Equipment is old and so close together its uncomfortable. Locker rooms and the whole facility is dirty and not maintained. If I could give a Zero star I would. I told them months back that I was injured and would like to cancel my membership. They told me I couldn’t since I was on a contract but that they would put me down to not renew, I said okay I had 6 months left so I just let the payments run through. Then I moved out of the area, so I was not expecting to get charged. When all of a sudden when my contract was up they charged me 29.99 for a maintenance fee. And charged me 45 dollars again for a month worth of membership. Even after I told them prior to it to not charge me. Then the owner decides to call me calling me a “fucking idiot” his words not mine. Because I disputed it with my bank.

Just an honest review from someone who is not a local resident here. The gym was definitely not for me. I will say, the front desk staff are friendly when you are signing up, but don’t talk much after. Covid protocols are not followed at this gym and they make that clear when you sign up. This was the only gym open in town for a while so i made the decision to go since I was expected to be in town for work for a while. There is a sign on the door asking politely to wear masks, but I guess that is just up because they are required to have it up. Staff do not wear masks either even though they are not working out, which I found interesting, and equipment is not cleaned after each use. I got sick for the first time in over a year after going to this gym for about 2 weeks. There is a woman who cleans when she is able to, but the few times I have been there, the members of the gym do not treat her very well. They get in her way while she is trying to clean and are not very friendly to her which is unfortunate for a “hometown” style gym.

I was not able to stay in town too long due to work purposes, so I wasn’t there to experience it much longer than a few weeks. However, during my time there, I just wasn’t impressed. The machines and equipment are low quality and outdated, and some of the pre-set workouts on the cardio machines are not accessible (i.e. fat burner option). I understand however that this is a “hometown” local gym, so I added an extra star on the review just for that reason, but this is as honest as it gets from an outsider. These types of gyms are ran entirely different than a professional-style gym and they cater to a very specific clientele.. Just wasn’t for me and it is clear I am not their target audience. I’d prefer a cleaner and more friendly gym for the price tag.

Great Gym and Great Staff!!! What I really like about this gym is the hometown feel. It is like the CHEERS of Gyms, everybody knows your name. They have a large selection of cardio machines, a functional training room and large assortment of free weights and machines. If you are avid lifter or competitor this is definitely your gym. You won't find too many people with their phones out posting their workouts to IG. People go in to workout and work hard to improve themselves. In addition, they also provide day care and tanning.
