I have been a part of Audrey’s community for almost 20 years. I so appreciate her attention to the details of functional yoga. All the instructors I’ve experienced are caring and supportive to honoring your body’s way.

Audrey is the best! I started with a class she teaches at the senior center in Camarillo, an introductory yoga class. My wife was taking courses at the Somis Center, and encouraged me to join her for the Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday classes. I was pretty athletic in my youth, but never limber or able to fully stretch. With age came the everyday aches and pains. Audrey helped me with my mobility, range of motion, and relieved my lower back pain with simple yoga moves. I genuinely enjoy the inner peace from the hour-long yoga session. Audrey is witty, knows the muscle groups by name, and focuses on everyone's limitations. I, and the others, truly appreciate her kind and empathetic words when we finally master a yoga technique. I have encouraged others to start yoga, and I definitely highly recommend Audrey.

I am so grateful I found Camarillo-Somis Yoga & Mindfulness Studio. It has made an immense difference in my wellbeing and movement. Audrey is a fantastic teacher. She thoroughly understands how the body is meant to move, and cares deeply to help us to maintain or improve our bodies’ function as we age. She pairs poses and movements that lengthen or strengthen opposing muscle groups and helps us to do each pose properly for the best outcome. She explains and demonstrates how muscles work so we understand the basis for the exercises all with good humor. She continues to look for more effective ways to help us improve our strength, flexibility, range of motion, and endurance. I’ve never had an injury from a class (unlike other yoga studios) and have unlearned bad yoga habits. And breathing! I've learned how to really breathe in class.
She and the class members welcome people of all abilities. No pretension here.
Thank you, Audrey. You've made a huge difference in how I feel.

Note This will be a little long but I promise it'll be WORTH your time to read;) The very finest yoga teachers are here and are truly teaching FUNCTIONAL Yoga (which was a fuzzy concept for me when I joined in 2021). As Audrey writes on her website, "Our bodies are not 20 years old and made of rubber. We care, empathize and spend the time teaching, not simply demonstrate from the front while students follow along and hope they get it right." Quickly, I realized that THIS yoga practice was helping me feel great, age well and maintain flexibility --not to mention providing me with a beloved community filled with friends I will keep for the rest of my life. Two months ago, I moved to Indiana. After the physicality of packing/loading/etc, I went to see an Orthopedic doc in Fort Wayne, IN, about some soreness in my shoulder. X-rays were taken and when the doctor entered, he asked me to raise my arms straight up as high as I was able. When I did, he asked me if I understood what was going on with my shoulder...? I did not. "You have severe osteoarthritis and a very large bone spur right here.." he pointed at the xray. Then he said, "There's no way you should be able to extend your arm like that. What have you been doing?" I described my 4+yrs of yoga with Audrey and Karen. He looked at me and said, "Yoga is SALVATION!! Good for you!!" Until that moment, I knew what Cam-Somis Yoga had done for me -- but until then, no MD anywhere - let alone here in the midwest -- had so clearly advocated for me to maintain a regular yoga practice exactly like what I had! Thankfully, this doctor also pointed me to a quality studio here ). If you're reading this and you're geographically able to join this studio, DO IT! You older wiser future self will thank you again and again!

My 2021 Review: These yoga teachers saved me and (most of!) my sanity through shutdown. Now, I can’t imagine not having this regular yoga practice and this remarkable community.

This yoga studio is a 10 out of 10! Audrey’s background in kinesiology is what truly sets this place apart. When I first started, I was dealing with persistent pain on one side of my body - caused by imbalances I didn’t even know I had. Massage and chiropractic care only gave me short term relief, lasting a day or two at most. But after attending Audrey’s classes, I gradually became more balanced - physically and beyond. What’s amazing is that instead needing surgery or relying on pain medication, my body realigned naturally through consistent yoga practice. This experience has been transformative and I am so grateful I found this yoga studio.

I enjoy going to Camarillo-Somis Yoga & Mindfulness a lot. All the instructors care about students body and teach us very patiently. They tell us that everybody has different body, different body every day, and leave ego at the door when you enter the studio. Any age is not too late to start taking care of yourself, that is what they teach us. Thank you Camarillo-Somis Yoga.

I didn't know what to expect when encouraged to attend my first yoga classes about three years ago. I soon discovered that Audrey's background in kinesiology established a focus on maintaining and improving range-of-motion, balance and strength. She explains how joints are connected by tendons and ligaments to their muscles and adjoining bones and the importance of maintaining the health of the body's fascia. Audrey also stresses the importance of proper breathing techniques as we move ourselves into the various positions based on her current readings delving into the physiology of the body. Everybody gets individualized instruction on positioning when appropriate to maximize the benefit intended by the effort. All in all, this has been very beneficial to me and I hope to continue improving. And the other class members are friendly and supportive of all. :)

I moved to the Camarillo area in 2018 and had to leave behind a yoga home that I loved. So I was anxious to find my new yoga home here in Camarillo. Then a long came Audrey. From the moment I walked into the studio I immediately knew that this is my new yoga home.
Audrey‘s emphasis on the functionality of yoga was something I had not been exposed to before. And I have found her classes and teaching so beneficial. Audrey is fully committed to the well-being of her students.

I started with my yoga journey in Jan. 2013 as I also started a journey with my parents with Alzheimer's and dementia. Yoga started for me as mostly mental/stress relief. And here I am 12 years later. The focus now is on my body and the challenges I face with my body. I have made it through many physical challenges with the expert help of Audrey guiding me through things that my body was going through over the years.
A lot I have overcome, others I have learned modifications and can continue with my practice. This is a very supportive community and I highly recommend coming here for your yoga practice.

Audrey has saved me in so many ways! Specifically, she has helped me eliminate pain in my lower back, my pickleball shoulder, and my “carpal tunnel” wrist. Generally, she has increased my flexibility and therefore minimized my chance of injuries in the future. I am so thankful to have her immense knowledge of kinesiology supporting my yoga practice and keeping me safe while I push my body to improve and become more functionally correct. The classes are fun and her community of students is very supportive!

I’ve been going to Audrey’s classes @ Camarillo yoga regularly since 2022 - they are great!

If you are interested in the lululemon/instagram vibe, Audrey’s classes probably aren’t for you. But, if you want to practice yoga, understand how your body works, and get a good workout, then this is where you belong!

There are days that I drag myself to class, but my back always thanks me afterwards :)

I am in my early 60's and wanted to get back into yoga after 20 years away. I tried many teachers but kept getting injured or discouraged. After moving to Camarillo, I am so glad I was encouraged to try it out with Audrey. She is 100% devoted to her clients' wellness, and specializes in meeting you where you are, no matter where that might be. She is experienced, wise, creative, knowledgable and oh so passionate about her practice- which skillfully combines balance, flexibility, breathing and strength, without too much woo-woo/yoga babble. Thank you Audrey (and Bob for pushing me to go)!

So glad I said “yes” when my sister asked me to try a yoga class! I am age 66 and I have been practicing yoga at this studio for 4 years now and absolutely love it. Audrey is so knowledgeable of the human body and encourages her students to understand the reasoning behind the movements and the breath. Not only do I have improved balance, strength and flexibility I have also noticed my mood/mind has become much more calm.
The studio is unpretentious with a peaceful vibe, big windows with views of the farm fields, even a summer outdoor class one day a week at Hartley Botanical Garden!
Thank you for what you do so well.

If you have been considering trying yoga, this is the place to go! I have been going to this yoga studio since March 2023 and am so happy I started. The teachers are amazing and guide you through the poses ensuring you are doing everything correctly. I am stronger than I have ever been and it's all due to yoga. The studio is absolutely beautiful with views of Somis. You have options of both indoor and outdoor classes. Everyone is so welcoming and don't be discouraged by your age - there are people ranging from 20 - 80 attending - and what a wonderful group of people it is. I couldn't recommend this studio more - try it, you will not be disappointed.

I have been coming to CYC for about 6 years now, and I can honestly say this is the BEST yoga studio I have ever been to. Not because it's incredibly fancy, or extremely trendy, or full of "yoga masters" whose level I can never reach.

I've tried out SO many different studios in Ventura County, everything from hot yoga to the cool trendy places with shops up front. Also, one of my hobbies is taking a yoga class whenever I go on trips. So, I've been to many studios... To say the least.

What I LOVE about CYC is that I actually LEARN about my body. Every single pose is explained not only in yoga terminology, but also on an a very educational level. Audrey, the owner, makes sure to teach each pose correctly (not just something that looks cool), but carefully helps each student, adjusting them so the pose fits their body, and what it needs. She demonstrates each pose, breaking it down, so I can truly get the most out of each movement.

Another thing I love.. there is ZERO competition here. I'm on the younger side, and I love that when I go here, no one is worried about looking cool. The teachers are down to earth, incredibly educated on the body, caring, and practical. All ages and types of people attend classes. And that to me feels really healthy and whole. There's no "club" to get in. Everyone is always welcoming and kind.

There is no studio like this one. After all my years of searching, I am very glad to call it my yoga home. It's a real gem, and I encourage you to try it out! Yoga has completely changed my life. It's helped me with depression, anxiety, scoliosis, panic attacks, and has kept my body strong and open. I have learned how to continue deep breathing in difficult poses, and as a result, in difficult life situations as well.

I am SO incredibly grateful for the practice I've developed at this studio. It's truly changed my life. "Yoga is for everyone" is their motto - so please do yourself a solid, and give it a try! <3

A few months ago, I started taking classes in Camarillo Yoga Center, about 3 times a week on average. Since then, I have noticed very clear improvement in general well-being: energy and optimism levels went up, anxieties and various body imbalances went down. The full credit goes to Audrey Waltzer, the owner of the studio, and her great team of instructors. Audrey is incredibly knowledgeable in the ways human body works, and she is using her skills to fine tune exercises to match each practitioner's particular circumstances. This allows everyone, irrespective of age, fitness level, and general health conditions, to get nurturing and stimulating workout. In fact, Audrey teaches some basic and necessary skills for taking proper care of your body which we surprisingly don't learn anywhere else. I believe it would be a great idea to teach those kind of skills in schools to provide fundamental and long lasting health benefits for coming generations.
