This course once was pristine and a jewel of Ventura county golf. Then an idiot ran it for a while. It has now changed hands and the new owners are working extremely hard to put the course back in pristine shape. The course deserves a look, but understand it is now a work in progress and playing the course generates revenue that they can put back into improvements. Just played yesterday, 7 November. The improvements in the course are dramatic and very evident. There's a lot of work going on and it's clear they intend to make this a destination golf course. If I had one critique right now it would be the tee boxes need a lot of work.

Owners are trying to do a cancel fee even though the policy says 24 hours before. They have no respect!!! Donβt play here Westlake is way better and cheaper. Half this course is under constitution and just a bad course overall. Very disappointing and management is even worse. Have fun cam springs being the worse course in the area π your employee agreed

This course was neglected for a long time, but it's so good to see the new owners making the investment to bring it back. Things are improving steadily every week. This past week, the greens and fringe were looking very good. Lot's of work still to do on the fairways and tee boxes, but they are on it! The range is getting a complete do-over. I'm giving it 4-stars for 'most improved'!

Some silly hole location on #8 today. The hole was put right on the hill between 2 levels. Good putts from a few feet up the slope that didnβt go in rolled back 20 feet. Even my putt 20β past the hole uphill rolled back 20 feet. After a few tries with the same outcome I quit the hole and dqβd myself.
This type of setup will not draw visitors back.

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. My review is between 4 and 5 stars. I played here today for the first time in months. Driving range is closed bc the course is being renovated so there were no range balls flying at us on the back 11 unlike last time. I understand they just got recently bought out. Some of the fairways can have some work done on them but itβs not a deal breaker. The course is nice, offers great views, and not too difficult of a challenging experience. The only thing I wish I could see are ball washing stations. I donβt recall seeing a single one. Not one at every home is necessary but every other hole would be nice bc my balls were getting pretty dirty at times. Overall great course and experience Iβll definitely be coming back again soon!

I had high hopes for this as a special Motherβs Day outing, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. Throughout the round, we dealt with a group of kids behind us who were being loud, disrespectful, and even recklessβcrashing into our cart and hitting a tree. Despite calling the marshal three separate times, no action was taken until the 18th holeβthe very last one.
Even then, the marshal witnessed them hit a tree and still chose not to intervene. Instead, we were told to speed up, despite there being three groups ahead of us who hadnβt even teed off yet.
I was told the manager, Beth, would follow up with a call, but I still donβt understand why it took so long for anyone to step in. Overall, the experience wasnβt worth the time, money, or drive.

Played here yesterday. Camarillo Springs is a nice course. Yes, it's like a muni course with a few rough edges, but no more than I've seen at Los Robles, Marshall Canyon, De Bell, or any of the LA City Courses. I've played here many times. Greens were in great condition. Fast and smooth. Beautiful views of the mountains, very friendly / professional staff & marshalls, and pace of play was under 4.5 hours for the entire round.

I've always loved this course. The layout and scenery are top notch but just played on Friday (1/10/25) and the course is like a dog track. I know NO RAIN but the fairways and tee boxes are pretty pathetic...the greens are actually OK but overall I can't pay good money for this course unless improvements are in place.

Fairways are a mix of water logged and muddy, dead grass or no grass. (Because who doesnβt love being rewarded with a great drive to hit off a patch of dirt) Tee boxes are uneven and there is more sand than usable grass to tee off of. Fringes consist of crabgrass that grabs your club into the ground so youβre guaranteed to chunk it. Greens are green but bumpy and very soft. Only giving 2 stars because I know what this course can be. I wouldnβt pay more than $35 with a cart to play in these conditions.

We came to town for an event and wanted to book a content/shoot round while in town. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and we had a great round. Great views of the mountains and π₯ food at the turn!
Greens were in good shape and very consistent. Fairways were in decent shape all things considered- very playable just be willing to give yourself a preferred lie if needed.
Weβll definitely be back!

The course is improving greatly. The staff is great. Starter Matt got us out early and Harvey is an asset to this company. So hospitable and accommodating. Ron aerated the greens and 4 days later you could barely tell. I've been playing 40 years and I've never seen greens return to normal so quick. Logan and the guys in the cart barn are cool. My only complaint was when I finished my round and got to my truck I realized I left my glass Tupperware container with nuts in it. 2 minutes later I went to the cart barn and the new guy had to take my container out of the trash while trying to convince me the food threat can't be tolerated. 2 MINUTES LATER.

Dont let the range fool you. While the net is down the course is playing great. Beautiful views, green everything. And to top it off, you the staff is awesome. They are really cool people. Harvey takes the best care of me and my family when we come out to play. This is a hidden gem of a course.

Updated 2024: Tee boxes are uneven but grassy, fairways are decent, greens are good not great, and bunkers are good. "Grass on the tee boxes" should not ever be a selling point for a golf course but a win is a win. 2021-2022 the tee boxes were dirt.
If you compare to a course like Los Robles (at 2x the price) the fairways are worse but ok if you ignore the relatively few dead spots, the greens are slow but comparable in maintenance, and the tees are bad but acceptable.
If you compare to Riverridge, which as of Sept 2024 is about 12$ more expensive, the tees, fairways, greens, are comparable, which makes cam springs good.
Tee times are now 8 minutes apart (in 2024) instead of 7 (in 2021). I haven't played a prime time in 2024 to check pace of play, but you can guess how it will go with 8 minute tee times. As of 2022, which I think still had 7 minute tee times, weekend pace of play was 5:45
Basically the course is decent, and when you factor in the price then "decent" actually means "pretty great"
Hole 12 is right next to the driving range, and the net is missing in the area. Its absurd. There are range balls littered around the green, so when you play hole 12 you are worried another one will come and concuss you.
2021 Review: Horrible tee boxes and fairways, good greens and bunkers. They schedule tee times 7 minutes apart (in 2021, as of 2024 it is 8 minutes apart...lol). I stopped playing here regularly, but a weekend round takes about 5:45 and I confirmed that again in August of 2022. The owner is trying to sell the course to home developers and it shows lol.
Take a look at the photos for course conditions. The greens are most important and they do that well, but the teeboxes and fairways are quite literally unkept

My time at the course wasnβt too bad, the woman working in the shop was fantastic. But if management reads this, Tim is a massive jerk.
Update 8/17 - went back a year later⦠staff was nice and friendly but the course is just in awful condition. I get that cost on almost everything has gone up but those fairways and tee boxes are just terrible for the price to play here.

Recently played for the first time. The course was tough playing from the tips and the greens were small with tough pin placements. The fairways werenβt in good condition and some of the cart paths were flooded even though it hasnβt rain in a while. A couple of the holes also smelled like sewage. On the plus side all my interactions with the staff were amazing . Itβs a fun track with a decent pace of play for a relatively cheap price.

Camarillo Springs is a fun track but its fairways are annoyingly bad. I've played here several times over the years and the story is the same: fun design to the holes but almost every fairway is chock full of what I think are gopher holes, severe mud, uneven grounds, lush grass mixed with diseased grass and dirt patches. In contrast, the greens are in very good shape and the water hazards make for a beautiful and sometimes challenging course. Someone did a good job manicuring and maintaining them. I wish they'd spend some down getting the fairways together though. The cart server only came around once, which was very odd, but the staff we met before we tee'd off was super nice. It's a mixed bag at Camarillo Springs, so pick your poison. I'll definitely be back but if you're a golf snob, you won't like it.

I'm giving Camarillo a 4 star rating only because I love the layout and the staff is extremely good. Unfortunately, it is in need of some serious upgrade to the tee boxes and most of the fairways. The greens are always very good and some fairways have seen improvement with the rain from last year. It truly is an wonder Ted Robinson layout and with some cash infusion could be back to its former fantastic condition. I did hear recently that the proposed housing development has been voted down and that the current owner, Ron Richards, plans on closing the course at some point. That would be a tragedy. Such a fun course from a iconic golf course architect.

I have played this course numerous time and the staff has always been friendly and professional. However today a groundskeeper yelled and screamed at one of my group for something he hadn't done. He not only did it once but continued yelling appears Lu so his friends sitting near the grill could hear. This was abusive and since my paying partner was Asian I believe it was bias and prejudicial. If he had done something wrong then he only needed to be told once and in a professional manner. This was embassing to me, my group and the group on the tee box that were waiting while my friend was being chastise for about 5-10 minutes. It appears that the group in front of us was a six person group which is unheard of. But it appears that's ok . This sort of treatment is not the manner in which I would want anyone to be treated.
Thank you

Had one of our carts stalled at the 7th tee box , called the pro shop, answered the phone after 7-8 rings then immediately put on hold, then I could hear the staff was speaking loudly, laughing and and joking (the phone must have been on a speaker mode) for over 17 minutes!! My partner called from her phone and told the staff that our cart was stalled, I could hear them talking on my phone!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. Ruined our game completely. Everything, the scenery, the pace of the play, other players who passed us while we were waiting for the the staff and the replacement cart, great but this particular staff attitude was just outrageous.

The single star is not referring to the course shape, but the tatted guy in the club house. My beef is the way he approached me and fellow golferI when we headed for the 17th fairway instead of the 13th. He came running after us waving a golf club and tell me at us to stop. If management reads this review, please teach the tatted guy some manners and suggest to him if this comes up in the future to approach golfers with an element of class and have a conversation instead of acting like a lunatic. He eventually removed the cart key and kicked us out. I attempted conversing with him and asked for my money back, but he refused. He just lost a customer

The worst course I have played in a very long time. Most of the grass is thin or barely covering dirt. Greens are OK. Traps are wet sand, worse than hitting on dirt. There is a proposal by a developer the invest in the course, but only if they can build houses. They are operating as of they will close the course. The good news is you can get a tee time and it's cheap.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because of the water drought problem and not being able to keep everything green. This is a super challenging course that will really test your skills. The greens are in very good condition which is honestly the most important part. They could do a better job at maintaining the Tee Boxes and maybe purchasing new Range mats. Staff is super friendly and respectful, and they have great hot dogs. For 57 including the cart fee, it is not bad at all.

First time playing here and enjoyed the course. Its obvious this course was very nice at one time. Im guessing water restrictions and a limited staff are factors to the course conditions. The greens are in perfect shape, they are fast and roll true. For a golf purist like me, that is all that matters. Also as a low handicapper that hits it very long, the course is very demanding, you will need to shape shots off the tee and since it plays very long, you will need to hit all the clubs in your bag, while the small greens will test your approach shots(PW, GW) and short game(SW, LW). I highly recommend this course.

This was my wife's first time ever golfing so we thought it would be a great experience. The front counter guys were very nice and helped us with whatever we needed (they get 5 stars). We started on the back nine so we wouldn't get in anyone's way while she learned. Not long after we started, the ranger started hounding us to play faster even though we weren't holding anyone up. I've golfed my whole life so I know when to let people play through. "Each hole should take 14 minutes to play" he said. So we continued. He hounded us again about carts leaving the path. So if your ball goes left, and the path is on the right, start walking. I live on this course and carts leave the paths all the time. After we were done, we drove the cart to the car to unload and guess who shows up?? Ranger. "You can't take your cart in the parking lot". I've seen 7 carts in the lot just on this day. Not going back, the course isn't nice for what you pay, and the ranger will find any way to tell you you're doing something wrong. I should have given the ranger clubs to play since he was with us the whole time.

Gave this course a few shots and I can finally say I won't be returning. Course isn't well kept. No matter what time you go it seems like your dealing with the sprinklers in the middle of the holes. The water is recycled sewage water so everytime a sprinkler is on it smells awful. Staff isn't all that helpful unless your a "regular". I went cus it was convenient and close to home but I honestly think a little bit of an extra drive to another course would be far much more worth it as far as a better golf experience is concerned. Great staff. Good food. My rating addresses the golf course. It really has fallen off. It has had a tough road to be sure with the fires and floods a while back. However, do not intend to play from the back tees. This course has never maintained the back tees. The fairways are a combination of so many different types of grass and a hard compacted dirt base. Almost like playing golf on a baseball field similar to the Sandlot. It isn't the greenskeeping most likely, it's just the same as every public track in the area..water and money. They do what they can to keep it in a playable state for the majority. I really enjoy the views here and it has the potential to be a great course, but the ownership has long ago decided this poor track's fate. Really is a shame.

My review is based on when I play. I go on the weekends and try to tee off around 3 PM or later. I also walk. It costs me $20 to play as many holes as I can. I can usually fit in at least 18, if not a few more because there isn't a lot of people there at that time.
Yes, the course is in OK shape. The tee boxes are basically mowed down ruff and some fairways look like fairways while others are just mowed down ruff or dead grass, but the greens are in excellent shape, so I can live with OK tee boxes and fairways.
For $20, this place is a steal to play a round of golf. I see people complaining about the cours shape, but if you want perfect conditions, go pay $80+ for a round of golf.
All in all. I love me some Camarillo Springs and still try to make it once a weekend.

For the greens fees, a steal. And you don't have three groups on the first tee trying to get out. Friendly atmosphere, Great Cocktails! Just enjoy your walk in the park.

Summary: Find another course
The Greens had lines cut through the middle and fairways were no different than rough.
50% of the course smells like sewage.

This place smells like sewage, fairways and tee boxes are nothing but uneven crab grass, greens are slow, and the bunkers are hard as rock. My cart died on the 14th hole and I walked in to ask for a refund for the cart, the manager asked if I wanted to grab another cart or come back for a discounted round. I refused both and told him that I would rather not play the course since it is in such horrible shape...he then got very offended and basically threw 10 dollars at me. Needless to say I will not be playing here again, nor do I recommend this place to any golfer.

Played in the afternoon, got through the course rapidly and liked it so much I returned the next day... Day 1 the greens were kind of slow, but consistent green to green, faster on day 2. A very good value, esp when the pace of play is so speedy. Day 1 under 3 hours, day 2 under 3Β½.

Hadn't played here in quite a while but enjoyed my time here today. Some conditioning issues but not anything that would keep me from returning. Greens actually rolled quite nicely, visited a couple bunkers and the sand was easy enuf to get out of. If i could give another half star i would and another full star if the condition issues get improved. Couldn't play all 18 today but I'll be back again to play em all.

The driving range golf mats are terrible. They are all compressed, most are ripped and half are missing the plastic tees. Golf balls are decent so it's not a 1-star but they really need to replace all the mats.

Been golfing here forever but the last time we were there we noticed the course going downhill fast! Why? Great location, great layout, love the holes on opposite side of hills, lots of water. Hope they raise fees and get to work. Hate to see it go?

They are trying to close this great old course and are spending as little as possible on maintenance. It was in terrible condition when I played there in April 2017.

I'm rating this place a 5- star all due to my golfing instructor. I just started taking lessons with a most patient and knowledgeable instructor, Jake. Aside from this, the place looks a little like a dump.

Course layout is good water and sand traps add to the challenge. Grass to high in tee boxes and fairways are dry. Greens are in good condition. Price is reasonable for the conditions. With some improvements this could be a nice public course.
