Iβve been training at Chaiyo Muay Thai for a while now, and I canβt recommend it enough! The coaches are highly skilled, patient, and dedicated to helping students improve, whether youβre a complete beginner or an experienced fighter. The gym has a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where everyone pushes each other to get better.
The training is intense but rewarding, with a great mix of technique, conditioning, and real Muay Thai fundamentals. The community here is what really sets Chaiyo apartβeveryone is friendly, motivated, and respectful. If youβre looking for a place to train in Richmond, this is the spot.
Whether your goal is fitness, self-defense, or competition, youβll find top-notch instruction and a great group of people to train with. Definitely worth checking out!

Once you joined Chaiyo Muay Thai, you would instantly feel like you are part of the team! I was very shy and intimidated when I first joined, but shortly after, Master & Mrs. Cheetah made me feel very welcomed. They teach authentic muay thai skills and techniques and they are very patient especially with new people. ChaiYo made me lose weight, and gained family & friends. :)

I always look forward to training at Chaiyo! Master Cheetah and all the instructors/staff have created an awesome environment; everyone is positive and likes to have fun while still pushing you hard and teaching proper techniques. The space and equipment are great, and the other students are friendly and helpful.
I'd highly recommended giving them a try if you're interested in muay Thai - whether you're a complete beginner or have prior training, you'll be feeling at home in no time.

As a martial art enthusiast, I was very picky finding places to train in Muay Thai. Thank goodness I found an authentic Muay Thai gym that is fruitful in its culture. I remember calling a few gyms including Chaiyo, and Master Cheetah called me back instantly. I loved his energy, and how welcoming he is. Months after, I can feel myself improving. Fitness classes are a killer! People there are very friendly. Come by, sign up, and train with us!

Cheetah is notorious for being money hungry and greedy. All he care about is trying to separate you from your hard earned cash.

Master Cheetah and his family are phenomenal. It's a little place right off the freeway on San Pablo Ave. Joining a gym like this can be a little bit scary, but really don't be nervous, everyone is much friendlier than you could imagine. You can be you here, learn interesting things, and move in ways you haven't before with balance and power. The instructors are patient, courteous, and for real. Muay Thai is an amazing and practical martial art with many different dimensions to explore. It's the standup game in MMA, it's Thailand's national sport as a boxing/kickboxing type event, and it's a deadly martial art for self defense and close combat through Muay Boran. I've been a student here for years, I'm on the old and fat side, but I love when I get to go to class. I recommend this place for health and fitness, but also for MMA fighters to improve their standup, kick efficiency and clinch work. There are many different classes for different skillsets. I personally really like Friday night sparring and duking it out with my new friends that want to respectfully do the same. :-)
