Chess Fitness (Jenn & Marco) changing my life. I'm a 57-year-old male who played high school sports but was inconsistent in my physical fitness in my 20, 30's and early 40's. I have worked out with several trainers in the last 10 years and when I moved to Manhattan Beach recently was dreading having to replace my long-time trainers. I got lucky in finding Chess Fitness and Jenn, Marco and the team. Jenn has deep experience training pro athletes, keeping them healthy and fixing them when they get injured. I have shoulder, hip, and calf issues and Jenn is guiding me as I fix these to be the best shape that I've been in since my mid-20's! I'm playing tennis again, running 10ks and moving so much better. Jenn is business-like (sets expectations) but is very real. She meets me where my body is, has taught me really effective warm-up exercises and pushes me with demanding circuits. Chess' small group lessons are highly effective and cost-effective. The energy is supportive and results are flowing! Happy to serve as a reference if anyone wants.

I had amazing results for shoulder issue that I've been struggling with for three months. I had gone to chiropractors, acupuncturist, physical therapist and watch a lot of YouTube videos to figure out how to create mobility in my lock shoulder and relieve the pain. It was affecting my sleep, my ability to drive, use of the computer, my mood and generally being present to life. As a yoga instructor and avid surfer, the lack of mobility and pain was a real bummer. I went to see Jennifer and in one treatment I started having greater mobility and, most of all, with her direction and expertise, I have confidence that my shoulder is really going to be 100% better within weeks. That boost of confidence is priceless as pain and lack of mobility is no fun. I could not recommend Chess higher as many of the things I have been trying did not address the core issue. She explained good pain versus bad, did direct work on my shoulder, arms, lats and back, gave me easy exercises to do and conveyed confidence that overcame my fear that this would never recover. Bravo to Chess and the healing space they have created.

Trainers and other clients are amazing! Hopes and dreams for the future, goals, nutrition, essential oil treatments, how to properly roll out your muscles, etc. are always talked about with each training session. Trainers are always available to answer any questions you have, and are flexible with your work and school schedules. It’s more than just a place of blood, sweat, and tears but a family that wants nothing but the best for anyone willing to take their first steps towards a brighter future!

I’ve been using Chess Fitness for years. The trainers there treat the whole person. They give me the how and why I do everything so I can understand and put it all in to practice in my everyday life. Having the kind of knowledge I’m given in my sessions has helped me many times to figure out and fix issues on my own and that is priceless.

Great facility and excellent training with Jennifer!! Her approach is very hands on and holistic. Together, we are working to identify key factors in personal nutrition, sleep, movement, strength and overall body awareness that is leading me towards feeling my best self.
