I do not recommend this place to anyone for one reason. The manager/supervisor gives no care for your safety. If you're assaulted on their premises they won't assist you in calling the cops and they'll also give you an ultimatum. Don't make a police report and you (the victim) can also stay a member there, but make a police report and both parties are removed. I still made the police report. Their gym isn't that good. Bring a YMCA here and it will crush this business with quality equipment and professional staff. Everything is dated there. Except their really new "Cafe".
Edit Response: funny you told me you don't know me and have never seen me before when I told you I'm there everyday. So your response is a lie and I'm sure I'm not the one arrested so it seems I am innocent. And also you don't deny you lack of care for member safety. You just try and attack. 😂🤣 Pathetic.

I've gone here for a year. I believe that for what it is, it is enough. You rarely have to wait for the equipment, it's typically not crowded, and the people are friendly (staff included).
The harsh rating comes from the poor maintenance of the facility (to an almost a dangerous degree in some cases).
I've seen roaches in the locker rooms twice during the day, a few of the locking mechanism aren't completely secure, at least one of the mirrors are shattered, and the treadmills are ancient. In fact, some of the treadmills have skipping/slipping belts. Not to mention the fact that they make terrible noises.
Their rates will be going up this year to around $74/mo, last I heard. The increased rates are intended to be invested back into the gym, but I will not be sticking around to find out. To their credit, I do see things changing (new carpet and new cables for pulley systems), so there is hope for the future here.

I have been a member here for 7 years. I enjoy the atmosphere here. My Husband has been a member here for over 30 years.
I loved seeing the improvements to the gym, however when they upgraded the flooring and chose not to do the women's Locker room I was a bit disappointed. I figured it would come next. That was a couple years ago. The carpet is really worn and looks dirty all the time.
The past few weeks I have come in and more and more equipment is out of order.
I truly hope that the increase in the membership fees will go to improve the Women’s locker room flooring and eventually showers& equipment.

I am a long time member of Chico Sports Club. I was very pleased with the staff today. I was on the Precor and I accidentally dropped my Apple ear bud and was not able to find it. I asked Ryan if he could help me find it, he immediately went into action and then Cassidy joined us. It was not easy and took awhile but they stayed with it until they found it. I was very happy I didn't have to replace the ear bud and thankful for the prompt and very pleasant assistance.

Between the weird vibes from fellow gym members, the gross pool and the roaches in the locker room, I should have canceled my membership months ago. Unfortunately, the cancelation policy is not intuitive or flexible and I was never provided a copy of my contract explaining the details! It's wild that they have the audacity to charge just as much as some of the other (larger, cleaner) gyms in town.

Just joined after reading all of the reviews. I have to say I really like this gym! The front desk is so nice , and always welcoming. I love the towel service that no one else offers. I also want to mention that the other members seem to be very nice also, not like all the other gyms in town we have been to where the people are to good to be bothered with a smile . The people at this gym seem to be more like minded than I have experienced at other gyms.

The yoga options need to be improved with more evening classes and a with different teacher. If you don't like that one teacher then there's no yoga in the evening. Showers really need to be cleaned better than they are!!

Nice gym. Good atmosphere and not too busy. However bathrooms could be cleaner, some machines are outdated and they don’t allow use of the heavy bag area if not supervised. If I’m already paying to be a member, that area of the gym should be be allowed use even if there is no supervision. But the room is locked and not allowed use which is kind of stupid which is why this gym gets three stars. I’d wish they would address this and move the heavy bags somewhere else because it’s the best form of cardio I like to do.

I enjoy lifting weights and I feel that the wait time isn't very bad for machines. They also have a good amount of yoga classes and the teachers are great. The gym is clean and they have been making a lot of updates since I've joined. My only request would be to have better hours at the childcare. There have been times where they are closing early or not open at all (during normal childcare hours).

I wouldn’t recommend going here. Not worth the price. The place is very dirty dust bunnies everywhere and ROACHES all of the place. I have three videos from different occasions where I’ve seen roaches but won’t let me post. Half of the lockers don’t even work and are incredibly dirty. The front staff do nothing but sit and chat.

We switched from the other large, popular gym in Chico to Chico Sports Club around 2010. The differences were evident immediately.
Since that day, I’ve never had to wait in line for a machine. I’ve never had to call and schedule Childcare in advance, other than for the convenience of the employees, giving same day/time visits. In other words, every time I brought my child in last minute, I was never turned away.
I honestly can’t think of any reason why anyone wouldn’t want to join this gym. My favorite part of the gym is its members. They’re my kind of Chicoans. Friendly, clean, quiet, outdoorsy, etc. I really like the staff as well. They’re pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable.
There is a wonderful community within this club. With the exception of the morning and evening “rush,” around the time all the yoga/Pilates/spin/swim etc. classes are scheduled at once (and maybe the pool area on days when it’s over 100°), this gym is rarely crowded! Even during the peak times, one can pretty much always grab a machine or weights.
It’s clean year round, has had a LOT of renovations recently. There are 2 heated pools; one is for laps and the other (a therapy pool) is for water walking/running, lunges, flutter kicks etc. It’s mostly for relaxing. And for kids and babies! The kids tend to hang out in the shallow end. Older kids are pretty good about staying clear for the adults in the deep end.
Most of the locks in the locker rooms have 4 digit passcodes that you make up on the spot. There are private lockers available for a monthly fee, although there might be a wait list for those, I’m not sure.
One particular staff member could probably be a little more chill and is a bit of a “bossy pants.” He comes off as a sort of a passive-aggressive petty tyrant, hidden beneath a cheerful exterior. I didn’t know that was even possible, but he swings it quite accurately. But again, I truly like ALL the staff members. They all seem to like working there, it’s one big family. :)
I think the cost for a guest or visitor is a little too high (currently $15). I’m told that members took advantage of free/lower cost guest passes given out in the past, that there was an abuse of that generosity. I remember a LOT of college students used to come to CSC a few summers in a row, all using those guest passes, which were either free or $5. Perhaps there’s a way to hand out just one or two free ones a year, or maybe just charge less than $15 as it’s that’s quite a lot!
As far as memberships fees, they have increased a bit over the years, along with the cost of living. If/once you’re a member, be sure to read all your emails and be prepared for any upcoming changes. Also, communicate w/membership, they can explain memberships better than the front desk people (some of whom are qualified to speak for membership because they’ve had training). From my experience though, I would suggest speaking to someone officially in membership, unless it’s a basic membership question. The cost of living is pretty high and we’ve all got expenses. Imagine the gym’s water bill, yikes! I think Chico Sports Club charges a very fair amount for what you’re getting.
CSC used to cell smoothies and sandwiches, etc, but at the time of this review that area is for lease. They still sell sodas, chips, snacks etc. and there’s a big cooler with lots of bottled water for $1 behind the front desk.
Anyway, I don’t need to sell this gym, it does a great job on its own haha. This has become a really long review, whew. If you run a great business and put in all that hard work, it’s only fair that customers/members should put in the time and the effort to write a nice review, it’s only fair.
Chico Sports Club is an awesome gym for people of all ages and, so far, has been a great price for what you get. There are tons of amenities that I didn’t mention, such as the YOGA, which is why I switched in the first place!!
So come check it out, but not too many of y’all, we don’t want it to get too crowded or we’ll need a 3rd big gym in Chico.

The only place in town that has a pool, sauna, steam room, and showers. The entire facility is very clean and they do not charge for using towels. Also the weight selection is solid. They have a good amount of weights to pick from, more machines then I will use, and a basketball court. Also there membership includes yoga classes and more.

Pros :
Priced well, Rarely have to wait for others in the morning. Nice facility
Had no issue canceling when I left Chico.
Cons :
1. This is the first gym I've been to that didn't supply cleaners on every other or every few pieces of equipment. They've established a culture where people don't even wipe their equipment after use with a towel. I often go to a machine and there's puddles of sweat on it. Can't just say it's Chico people, I went to Anytime in Chico before this and people were really good about it. Maybe it's just because a lot of older people go here but they really need to change that behavior.
2. They play pop music in the weight room I know they say they can't meet everyone's taste but they need to just stop playing it.

READ BEFORE JOINING!! I've been coming here for years and have watched this once lovely sport club turn into a car dealership mentality. There is now either an increase in price or a fee for everything! It's almost $60 bucks for basic member ship and if you have the family join then you can welcome $120+ a month. If I could give this place zero stars I most definitely would. Tried four different days in the same week to sign up for a membership but apparently this place has no idea of what "coverage" means. Word to the wise on a company standpoint, maybe you should get more than one person to work in your membership department during your "busy months". Oh, and another thing, you guys should really work on calling potential customers back when they leave messages multiple times inquiring about memberships, and not giving membership pricing over the phone, what kind of BS is that? Makes me wonder if they make up the pricing depending on if they like the customer or not. Congrats CSC you lost yet another potential customer to you counterpart InMo.

We've been members off and on since my daughter joined the swim team they had in 95. Chico Sports Club called my doctor for instructions on how best to help with my health issues. I owe them my life. I would drive from Durham three times a day and spend five minutes on the bike until I built to daily 13 miles. From there aqua aerobics had a class called Joint Effort- very slowly moving in warm pool. A few months some of us could get in without walkers. I started regular aqua aerobics and built to their Masters swimming program. My kids ranging from 3-7 would go to childcare and they would even escort them to and from swim lessons so I didn't have to leave class. I had to stop in 05 for a year after an accident, but used their PT guys, eventually going back in the water. I rejoined as a single, not having to pay a fee due to past member status. Once again I had to stop and rejoin. I do have to say the last time maybe five years ago I had some difficulties with the billing office and auto bill- a new computer program they were using and finally gave up. She was very rude when I went in to straighten it out. Knowing the types of people Jeff likes for mgt I doubt she lasted I'm reviewing this now because I intend to start another single membership as a senior. The seniors I saw 20 years ago were always having a good time. I hope they still have those programs. BTW- the rest of my family moved over to In Motion years ago for the pool. I tried. They just don't have what CSC does- that welcome, how can we besr serve you feel.

Went here with my boyfriend to inquire about a membership while visiting Chico for a month. We were given a tour, which the facility looked pretty good. When we asked if we could do a 1 month membership we were told we could buy a 3 month membership for $225 a piece and that we could sell/transfer the remainder of our membership to someone (at a $20 charge). We asked if we could work out a 1 month membership, the guy helping us asked his higher up to which they responded with no. It's a shame they had to turn away two potential clients. We are taking our business elsewhere.

I enjoy the fact that when my family and I go, its not filled with members that are there just to strut around like gyms I've been to in the past. It's big enough to allow a wide range of events or classes. My favorite part is that the public CANNOT gaze into the gym while I'm working out. Staff has always been friendly towards us and they keep the gym constantly clean. I always see a staff member walking around cleaning. And the price is great for a family of 4 too.

Reasonable prices, three month pay-ahead non-contract option, and every amenity a health club should offer. Lots of cardio equipment, 3 Model D Concept2 indoor rowers, a large weight room with 3 squat racks, dumbbells up to 120#, a spinning room, an exercise class room they allow you to use for stretching/jump rope/etc when not in use, and a Pilates studio. There are 2 outdoor pools: a therapy pool kept at 90 degrees, and a lap pool kept around 82 degrees. Steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi, and showers in the locker room. Free daily lockers and an option to rent lockers monthly for $7. I paid just over $200 for 3 months while on an internship from out of state. Money well-spent, in my opinion.

A fair amount of group classes after 5pm.
Hours aren't great but are doable.

The Womens Locker room smells clean. Maybe guys need to get dirty gym cloths out of their rented lockers.
I especially like that all body types show eachother friendship and respect. However, as more handicapped people join, we need more than one handicapped shower and a special dressing area for people who feel too scarred to dress publically.

I have been a member for many years. I was very happy with the club up until two years ago when I noticed a big change. Machines that are not working, sit unfixed... the pools are murky and unclean, exercise rooms are either hot or cold... and yesterday at the pool, EVERY reclining lounger at the pool was broken but one. They not only did not replace the chairs but they left them there! I am so tired of this mess.

Some staff is great, some are nasty. wifi is horrible, dont even know why they say they offer it, 2014 get a solid wifi connection throughout your gym. hours are not great they close way too early, if equipment breaks it stays broken for at least 3 weeks. locker room smells like sweaty balls, 75 percent of the time, which is getting better then all the time, all the nozzles in the steam room do not work. That being said,if they could fix some of the small things this would be a great gym. but until then for the 50 dollar a month price for a one year contract, its hit or miss. also i do not take advantage of all the classes which i heard are great, so that is possibly where the higher monthly fee comes from. A decent gym that could be a great gym if they had a better GM.

I love my club! Chico Sports Club is a down to earth friendly place to get your exercise. I have been a member for 13 years. My kids learned to swim in the heated pool. Now we swim laps together. The staff is personable and greet me in the morning with a smile. My wife and I enjoy Joey's boot camp classes three days a week and I am looking forward to trying spinning class to get ready for the wild flower ride. I especially like the atmosphere, it is comfortable, the people who come here are nice and it never feels too crowded even at peak times.
