I’ve been coming to Chuze for over a year now and I really enjoy all the amenities I get with my membership. I have a variety of places to workout including the outside turf, lift lab, pool and the amazing fitness classes they have. Although it does get pretty busy here during peak hours there’s always enough space for me to do a workout. The workers also have been very nice and keep the place clean.

I’m writing about a Chuze staff member, Raul (short and stocky) who was obnoxious and inconsiderate during my latest visit.
Normally, I felt neutrally towards the front desk staff, but I’ve felt alienated by this guy on previous occasions, like when we were passing the front desk while leaving and he stood there silently. Other workers have done the same thing, but I experienced this multiple times from Raul, and that’s why we started to recognize him as one who doesn’t greet or act friendly towards us.
My husband heard him greeting others who were close behind us and wondered, was this a matter of his personal preference or mood?
Because this happened on multiple occasions too.
On top of this, on that day I stepped out to my car and came back in, and as I passed the front, he called after me in a rude and loud, insistent voice.
At first I didn’t notice it was directed at me, since he never talked to or greeted us.
Since he kept insistently calling, I finally noticed and turned around. He explained coldly (not in a friendly manner or appreciative smile), “you have to sign in when you once step out.”
I felt like I was being reprimanded for a violation by security or an officer to be told in such a manner. I’ll also add that my husband has also left the gym and returned on many occasions but almost nobody stopped him since they knew he’s a member.

Then while I scanned my ID, he was silent and didn’t even stand close by or say anything, like “thanks for understanding”. I felt offended by his unpleasant manner.
There was an instructor whom I know at the front who witnessed the incident and observed my discomfort during the interaction. He must’ve empathized and eased my mind a bit by saying “Have a good night” with a smile.

I heard some others who said his attitude is not so bad, so that means his manner changes depending on the individual?
That same day, when I was leaving, passing the door, he was sitting on the chair right next to the entrance. His head turned to the door, said no word or raised his hand for goodbye.. What was he doing there? Never saw worker taking a break outstanding such an unprofessional.

I had a nice time at this gym sweating and exercising only to have it ruined by a staff member with such poor manners.
We don’t want to feel depressed seeing this guy, so we’ve chosen to stop coming here.
FYI, we have another gym friend who also feel similarly about this obnoxious guy.

Chuze fitness is amazing. Love this gym. They have a sled and a body scan machine and other things I haven't seen at other gyms like the bottom scanning machine and sauna which I don't use but it's cool they have one other things I haven't explored yet but excited to learn more about them. I'm still new to this gym and so far I am loving it. Hopefully they open more of them in Bakersfield. That would be a plus because it is starting to get a little crowded, but what do you expect from a gym? That is amazing. Eventually it will be crowded and eventually it will grow. Looking forward to this happening here in Bakersfield

The standing calf-raise machine needs new shoulder cushions and grip tape on the edge of the platform. And earlier opening times would not hurt my feelings.

Very dissapointed with CHUZE fitness as their exclusivity to fitness doesn’t align with mine. I have been a member and have been Olympic weight lifting at this facility for over a year and I was told not to do my lifts (cleans, snatches) in their facility as it is a bothersome to drop weights. What I don’t understand is why have equipment (bumper plates, bars, and Olympic weight lifting platforms) if we are not allowed to do the designed movement or exercises in their gym. The staff have been rude and don’t even understand the concept of having equipment in their gym and what it’s meant to do. If you are a crossfiter, athlete, do Olympic lifts, this is not the gym for you.

Tried all gyms in town this is my favorite chill vibes everyone is there to workout friendly staff always cleaning making sure gym is spotless. I like that they have wet wipes instead of spray bottle and towels that would be a pain at other gyms. It’s so big with lots of machines and weights it’s rare when I have to wait to use any. The movie room is a plus when I am not really pumped need an extra push watching a movie distracts me keeps me going. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a clean gym, fully stocked with new weights and machines plus friendly staff.

Mia and Rodrigo were so kind and helpful. My current gym was having a lifting meet today so I could not work out. When I called, I was offered to download the app and sign up for a free 7 day trial. Mia showed me how to check in and explained the rules as well as the benefits and answered my questions I had. After my workout, Rodrigo recommended the Zero Gravity massage to help with a knot I have in my back and it has not felt better since. These two staff members made me feel welcome and I honestly believe the membership is worth it if it means I am supporting kind people like them. If you are on the fence, have a conversation with the staff and try the 7 day trial, it totally sold me.

My cost to benefit calculator says these people should/could be charging way more for their product than they are. Maybe that's why its so crowded! But, if you don't mind a crowd, I'd say take advantage of this place.

I haven't noticed anything uncleanly or untidy. The amenities are well taken care of and when some go down, it hasn't taken them long to fix. What a list of amenities they carry too!;

Plenty of classes (30), equipment, space. Tanning equipment, zero-gravity massage, water massage tables, steam room, sauna, three-lane pool, Jacuzzi, movie screens in every room that provide entertainment, treadmills, stair-steppers, dumbbells, literally everywhere...I mean, I could go on but...

You can find everything you need to know on their website or by calling. They do answer after a few times calling and it doesn't take long for the call to go to voicemail. So, it doesn't take long or much effort to get a hold of someone, just keep trying!

Or go in! The staff is super friendly. I've met Sam, Trevor, and Diva. All good people and seem to enjoy their job, which isn't hard to believe from a company with such good morals and a desire to give back.

Can't wait until their success pours into another location! Hopefully this gym's success will create competition in the market and other gym's will look at what they could be doing differently.

So the gym is always clean and I enjoy the amenities but there’s some cons for sure. 1st con being the gym is PACKED, like always. I guess this can be expected at a commercial gym but it gets annoying when all the equipment is taken up. 2nd: The kids care often times has a waitlist of 30+ minutes(I’ve had to wait more than an hour before) and is also only open from 4pm-8pm in the evenings basically forcing you to only get in a short workout and not be able to get the full hour and a half of kids care. I had a question regarding Yoga and the instructor Michael F was very rude and unfriendly. I want to love this gym but it’s hard at the moment.

If you have a loved one with a disability, please reconsider another gym. Especially if they like having their staff with them for motivation. There are plenty other gyms that welcome staff to not only work out next to them with a signed waiver. It’s a good gym in general, all the amenities are a plus for sure! Love that they have an indoor pool and sauna/steam room. They have good classes. I love their theater cardio room but they replayed the same romantic movie again after the movie finished, I don’t think people wanna watch slow sad romantic movies while trying to do cardio lol. Also some of the machines don’t seem like good quality, like cushions falling off, etc. Also their treadmills seem outdated, they don’t have shock absorption, which is important for knees while running. Also they only have one rower which is really rigid and seems old, compared to the smooth water rowers.

I wrote a review before but I deleted it and am giving a different rating. I honestly love this gym. I signed up almost one year ago and while it may be really busy M-W, it’s more tolerable Th-Sun. The price for all that it offers is fantastic, and my daughter adores the daycare. I’m sad to say that I’m moving back to Fresno soon and I truly wish they had Chuze in Fresno :( (most) of the staff at Chuze is always so nice and people are respectful of the equipment. The outdoor and grass areas are my favorite for moments where you can’t find equipment to use or need to get away from the crowd. I love my new gym!! The facilities are fantastic and always clean. The greeters at the front are so friendly, especially Marlen. She always has a smile and goes above and beyond to help. The classes are amazing. The instructors are knowledgeable and professional. I really enjoy Michael and Leanor’s classes. Rachel is so amazing too. She is so friendly and personable and open to feedback about the schedule and classes. For the first time in my life, I look forward to going to the gym.

Staff are friendly and helpful. There are water bottles filling stations nearly everywhere. They have so many amenities ( too many for me to list ) for just $49.99 a month, plus the yearly annual fee of $49.99. This includes an hour and a half of babysitting for both of my kids on site (Once a day, per each child). Where they can: play, watch a movie, do crafts and socialize with other kids. During morning hours and afternoon hours. Afternoon hours are from 4pm to 7:30pm Monday-Friday, I believe. Not sure of the morning or weekend babysitting hours, due to only needing babysitting during the afternoons on weekdays.

This gym is ok I’d give a lower rating if I could, their kid care does NOT do their job at reporting incidents to parents , we have a special needs child there have been incidents where he has scratches or marks when we ask they don’t know how it happened it’s always we’ll review footage and not follow up with us but the moment he starts stimming (he’s autistic) or trying to self regulate he has become a issue the moment his autism starts showing becomes a huge issue he has no problem at In-shape or any other gym for some reason Chuze is a issue so if you have special needs children that are non-verbal or has limited communication I’d say don’t take them there in-shape will do better at handling them.

Estaba muy emocionada hace un año que me cambié de in-shape a chuze, porque encontré variedad de clases en las mañanas, me encanta body pump, zumba y mi favorita yoga😍 es un privilegio tener un instructor como Zain, es terapéutico, muy profesional y personalizado.... lamentablemente hoy nos dió la triste noticia de que será su último mes, no entiendo la actitud de la Manager, siempre hostigando y vigilante... Estoy pensando seriamente cancelar mi membresía!!

To start off, this gym has been really great. When I first started coming here it was the thing I look forward to the most, but that all changed due to one of the mangers named Rachel Morse. Rachel has been nothing but a burden not only on the people frequenting the gym but it’s instructors. She waits outside of yoga classes with attitude, is very hostile, and is uninviting. We have complained before yet nothing has been done. Rachel Morse makes me and other people frequenting the gym rethink our memberships. Please do something to fix the issue.

The place is good I have no issue with it but good luck with customer service. I walked in looking to sing up, I was indicated to scan a QR code and follow the steps and that’s about it, no one offered to show me around, how the different sections worked not even a welcome, I had to figure it out on my own and the staff didn’t seem very happy to answer questions. I went into the hydro massage and the machine stopped working after a few minutes but the timer kept going, I informed someone and this lady called Zara went to check it out, she refused to re-start the machine or switch me to another one. If you mid the customer service I don’t recommend this place at all.

la verdad me sentí súper bien no sabía que ejercicio hacer definitivamente seguiré en este gym y voy a recomendarles este gym a mi grupo de amigos todo me encantó y ya espero volver a ir hacer ejercicio 🤩
