Recently joined Chuze Encinitas. It’s a great gym. Modern equipment that is always working and super clean. Not too big, not too small, and never too crowded. No groups of teens hogging machines. A great staff, they are all professional, knowledgeable and seem to care about their jobs. Classes are available, and I intend to join Yoga soon.

I'm giving Chuze Fitness a one-star rating for several reasons. Firstly, I've visited gyms across the country and was shocked to see political content displayed on TV screens right in front of exercise equipment like bikes, stairmasters, and treadmills. It's impossible to avoid since it's right in your line of sight while working out, making it a significant distraction.

Most people go to the gym to start their day positively or unwind after work. However, being constantly exposed to tragedies, mudslinging, and derogatory news, does the exact opposite. It's counterproductive to the purpose of a gym, which should be a place of positivity and stress relief.

This issue has been brought to management's attention multiple times but has been consistently ignored, showing a disregard for member comfort and well-being.

Additionally, it's hypocritical that Chuze Fitness claims to support diversity and inclusivity, as symbolized by displays like hanging a pride flag, yet their TVs consistently broadcast messages of hate and fear-mongering.

When premium facilities like the sauna and hydrobeds break down, we are never notified by email nor given any refunds, despite paying extra for these services. Instead I'm sent an overwhelming amount of 'sweepstakes' and merch emails.

Chuze needs to reconsider its policies on TV content and maintenance communications. By addressing these issues, they can create a more welcoming, positive, and fair atmosphere that aligns with the values they claim to uphold.

Gym regularly shows news and claims they can’t change the channel. Out of the 6 TV they have facing all treadmills and stairclimbers, 2 show news (CNN and Fox). After multiple requests from many people, the TVs remain on the two most divisive news outlets on US media. Management does not care that (Fox especially) shows hate speech towards marginalized communities. No one wants this depressing garbage on.

Amenities like sauna and massage chairs breakdown monthly with no refunds or credits given when members can’t use them and they’re included in monthly membership.

Almost everything is perfect at this gym except the fact they beam Fox News at all hours onto the cardio and turf area. It feels like a forced exposure. Nobody wants news of any stripe while stretching or running on a treadmill, I don't think. At least give people the option to opt out by putting on Fox News in a more discreet location, in the gym.

I had active and fit direct which allowed me to go to here, 24 fitness, la fitness, EoS and others. I tried them all but Chuze was by far the best! It's gotten BUSY, but it has great equipment options, smart placement of everything, and the other people at the gym are all nice! Staff is helpful+friendly and they keep the facility clean. This place feels more like home than where I sleep at night some days.

The staff take such great care of the grounds and equipment it seems that the level of meticulous attention to detail can only come from a place greater than “one’s job”. Everything there feels more of a reflection of how they seem to get along so well with each other and the guests. They really care about this place. I've been a loyal Chuze member for 5 years, visiting various locations across San Diego, but today was different—it was truly unforgettable. On Sunday, April 27, 2025, between 1-3 PM, I experienced something remarkable. From the moment I stepped in, Harris welcomed me with such warmth and genuine hospitality—it was rare and uplifting. A simple conversation turned into a powerful energy boost that brightened my day.
Then, I headed to the bathrooms and was blown away. Everything was spotless, fully stocked, and smelled so fresh—it felt like a five-star experience. But what truly stood out was Ellen. Even though the gym was slow, she worked tirelessly, moving around with purpose, cleaning and organizing the equipment with impeccable attention to detail.
Harris and Ellen deserve to be celebrated for their hard work and dedication. They turned an ordinary day into an extraordinary one. Thank you both for reminding me why I love being part of Chuze!

Chuze Encinitas is one of my favorite places in Encinitas, let alone my favorite gym. Its smaller size is deceiving at a glance, it has truly everything anyone could need - and at a great price. The staff make the environment feel like a home away from home, always welcoming you and wishing you a nice day. There’s always a staff member cleaning the equipment too. Whatever you’re looking to train that day, there’s a spot open somewhere in the gym to do so. The equipment and machines are always in great working shape, and the people in the gym are courteous and never obnoxious. My first time at this particular choose gym in Encinitas it was packed. I’ve been a member of choose for approximately three years and they just raise their rates from $32-$52..
One of the reasons I chose Chuze was the multiple locations in San Diego.

As a dedicated member since 2021, I appreciate the gym’s focus on endurance training. However, I wanted to share some observations and suggestions for potential improvements.
The gym is relatively small, with equipment catering primarily to endurance workouts, and the dumbbells max out at 100 pounds. Additionally, there is only one incline barbell bench and two flat barbell benches, which can lead to crowding during peak hours. I would recommend adding more incline and flat barbell benches to better accommodate members and improve the overall workout experience.
Lastly, I’ve noticed the gym does not offer a military discount. Implementing this benefit would be a meaningful way to honor service members.

I’ve been to quite a few chupe fitness and this location is so bad I was confused by it. Steam room broken, saunas that men have to wear shirts in. No pool, no hot tub, no room to work out. They should call this place sometthing else so that people that have been to real chuze don’t drive half an hour to be disappointed and confused.

This a very nice gym. The equipment is good, the place is clean, and the staff are friendly. For what it is, with nothing to compare it to, I would give this 5 stars. But I'm comparing this to all the other Chuze Fitness clubs I've been to. This is by far the smallest club I've ever seen. The 4-star clubs I've been to are twice the size of this one and have smoothie bars, and the 5-star gyms qre equally big and have pools. This one is decent, but is missing so much of the equipment and amenities of other Chuze facilities. I went in the middle of the day and it was busy. With the small size, I can't imagine how packed it must be in the mornings and evenings.

Most unfriendly introduction- female staff very dogmatic - I have as charged for a membership that I cancelled 2 years ago. Then bait and switch for if I pay on debit card vs. bank routing. This gym is clean and the staff make it their personal responsibility to keep it that way. They have a circuit so you can knock out a full body workout in about 30 minutes if you just want to get a quick daily workout. They have tanning booths/beds, massage beds and an infrared Sauna. Plenty of cardio machines, daily classes and and typically not that busy. Best casual gym for the price.

Big, friendly, busy. Although there are people in this gym at all hours of the day there is plenty of equipment to choose from.

This is a clean gym, most of the staff were very nice and the first few times I went there i was very happy.. But just like every gym in california in my experience, too many people. CHUZE must have a contract with Matrix equipment and some of its ok, but the matrix cardio machines suck .. all of it .. its made for short people... This gym needs a 2nd pulley system (it was the room) they didn't full the space in the gym very well... no deltoid machine, no free weight military press, needs to chest fly machines as the matrix systems they have are horrible. and get more than 1 leg press

I wanted to compliment the staff for their understanding and extraordinary help today. Without thinking, I went into the Women’s locker room today, changed into my workout clothes. After the workout, I went to the men’s locker room and couldn’t find my stuff. Thinking my clothes, wallet, phone was stolen I reported it to the staff, called the police, etc. The staff went out of their way to help and spent time looking through the camera recording. They found the video of when I entered the gym and could see me going into the women’s locker room. My wife and one of your staff members went in and retrieved my belongings. Thank You Chuze!

I was a member of other gyms and after going into Chuze the first time, I discontinued my membership and started going here. I initially signed up because of all of the new equipment, perks like hydro massage, and the sauna. But after working out inside, you quickly see how personal the gym feels. Every time I go in, I see friendly faces who greet me by name and upon exit a friendly, “goodbye, thanks for coming in”.

The staff is super friendly and you get to know them and have conversations with them and get to know them. Ricky, the GM is great. Always willing to take time to chat and willing to help when it’s needed. Another thing that is pretty awesome is, they are always cleaning. Whether it’s dusting, wiping or vacuuming, they keep the place immaculate. Pretty cool to see when there’s a lot of people every day they take the time to make it feel very clean and sanitary.

So I guess initially joined for the perks but I’m loyal because of the staff. Love the place. Give it a look yourself.

Cozy (not huge) gym with Matrix equipment! Three saunas and four awesome Hydromassage tables.
The saunas are not very hot, (bc) they are on front-desk controlled timers. The music is very hard to take and too loud. They don't mix it up, it's modern repeating-hip-hop (kind of a deal-breaker for me).

The bad reviews posted on here are wild.. Tried EŌS and Crunch (before they randomly closed). This gym is solid. I mainly use a platform, adjustable bench, cables, and rack for my lifts and never have to wait too long, if at all, during peak hours. Equipment in good shape. Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, arm bikes, and two rowers. Two racks of dumbbells. Decent number of bumper plates for the 2 rack/platforms (additional platform only and squat rack only). Clean bathrooms always. Lots of people clogging up stuff with absurdities from time to time but nothing beyond the ordinary for a commercial gym. Could see this being the best affordable, non-powerlifting or CrossFit gym in North County.

I honestly love this gym. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They keep the gym well maintained and extremely clean. If a machine or something breaks they fix it right away. Team Training classes are great and the trainers are caring and make working out fun. I have never been to a gym that provides an intimidation free environment, but somehow Chuze Fitness does just that! With the price you pay, it can’t get any better.

My husband and I eagerly awaited the opening of Chuze Fitness, we were there less than a week, my husband stopped in after work and was exercising and had a floor person walk up to him and told him he was intimidating the other 3 people working out in the gym by breathing loudly!!!!
He promptly grabbed his stuff as he was exiting told maybe would-be members, make sure you do not breathe loud!

Two days later he received an email telling him his membership was canceled due to inappropriate behavior. FOR BREATHING LOUD!!!
Well needless to say I terminated my membership with them as well, we are now members of LA Fitness and still have our 24-hour membership as well.
Anyone thinking of joining...
Don't, unless you can get a good workout without breathing loudly.
