However, the reprogramming of the monitors at the gym in Escondido, apparently to deflect outside news I was told, and meaning to draw people into a gym like bubble by leaving out major network news like ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc; that use to play, only to play sports, cooking shows and the like instead, is a wee bit farfetched to my way of thinking. I like knowing whats going on in the world whilst walking the treadmill. In fact those mornings past were the only times I did actually watch the news; at the gym where I could burn all the negativity off! I miss that and many other members I have spoken to say the same. Be careful with their membership dues. I was going to cancel online but had a question so I didn’t. Next day membership dues were charged to my account. Love this location! It may be a smaller gym, but it offers quite a bit of options for working out such as machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. Also there are plenty of classes offered at this location which helps build a sense of community. Most people going to this gym are very respectful and friendly, I've never felt uncomfortable working out here at any hour of the day. Machines and equipment are always wiped down and cleaned, plus the staff has great energy and customer service. If you're someone who is starting or returning to their exercise journey-- this is the gym you want to go to!

My score for Chuze is ZERO, not 10, because of the recent change of the sound system that is connected to the TVs. Previously we accessed the TV sound with the Appaudio app. That worked great. But then, for no announced or apparent reason, Chuze suddently changed the TV sound system to the Tunity app. The Tunity app is HORRIBLE. The sound is ALWAYS out of synch with the video. The sound is always behind the video. Even with the most available adjustment through the app, the sound is STILL always BEHIND the video. With Appaudio, the audio and video were always perfectly in synch. With Tunity, the audio and video are ALWAYS out of synch. That makes it very difficult to watch the TV, because the speakers' lips and what we hear through Tunity never match up. In addition, the Tunity audio is ALWAYS broken up and missing words every few seconds. Especially at the most available level of adjustment, the audio is very broken up. That, in effect, requires the viewer to read the closed captions in order to understand what the speakers are saying, but that approach is not satisfactory because the closed captions never get everything just right, as the speakers said it. I have been around the block with gyms. This gym is the best. Equipment always works. And when Equipment breaks down, the down time is short. The gym is very clean. The Locker Room is also very clean and well stocked. The staff is very friendly. And appreciate seeing the staff participating to help keep the gym clean by vacuuming and wiping down equipment. Also appreciate the oversized ceiling fans that help to move the air around. These were installed during the Covid era. I am very sad I have to leave because my membership in Silver and Fit dropped this location.

I had terrible experiences with kage and jessy. So when I forgot my passcode, they made me go through frustrations. So it’s long story. No one have to understand my status But for Any reasons I didn’t had with me the passcode chip. and They told me and repeated it to me that I could not use the gym if I did not have my passcode chip, I ask and told them that I have my phone # related with the account if that could help me to use the gym and my reason that I haven’t the passcode chip with me it was cuz I can’t carry lot of stuff with me. It happen 3 times so far this year. Then I had to cancel my membership. They charge me $50.00 dollars. Which I didn’t had no problem with it. I was a good customer. I was consuming energy drinks and bars protein every single time I went there. I’m not happy I had almost a year.

UPDATE:This location is STILL great. The employees are very friendly. The bathrooms are consistently cleaned throughout the day. I have taken multiple classes. I enjoyed all of them. Zumba and Bar are some of my favorites even though most classes are only in the morning. They have all the usual area for cardio, strength, and free area for whatever else, but if you sign up I recommend trying out the sauna and the hydro messages. The people that work here at the Escondido location are always so welcoming. They greet you when you walk in and tell you to have a great day when you leave. They are always helpful with any questions and encouraging when you are struggling, and most of us all struggle getting ourselves to the gym, right! They work hard at keeping the place clean, vacuuming and wiping down all areas and machines.
With an upgraded membership you can enjoy the Hydro Massage Beds - my favorite, I think the fact that I get to use this Hydro Massage after my workout makes getting there easier for me 😊. They have also added a Zero Gravity Massage Chair. There are sauna rooms, and a tanning bed. The bathrooms are clean and have showers and lockers available to use.
A variety of workout classes are available at the location or at home.
Check with your health insurance because many insurance companies offer free basic memberships.
Also if you are a Senior Citizen Medicare offers free basic membership!

With all things being the same, what differentiates one gym from another? In my opinion, it's the people. The Chuze staff at Escondido is friendly and they work hard to keep the place clean. I'd like to give a shout out to Mizraim and Catalina for giving me that "Cheers TV show" feeling, not Norm level stuff but still good :D.

Of course, I have to also give credit to my yoga teacher, Emily C, for helping me keep chuzing this gym. I'm giving them 5 ⭐ again because they gave her a second class back around 2 months ago. It's Yoga Sculpt on Thursdays at 4:45p and it's a great strength and cardio class. It synergizes well with her Saturday class as you'll need that one to help you relax and stretch. Her two classes are enough for a casual yoga practitioner like me (1-2x/week) to feel the effects on my mind and body.

I hope management decides to keep both of her classes as she's building up her students again. Her classes are beginner to intermediate level with instructions that remind you of your form, breathing, and your target muscles. I have found my yoga teacher and this year my goal will be to practice 3x a week with her.

UPDATE 07/2023: -1 ⭐ for dropping the Tuesday 4:45p yoga class, the only afternoon class. It was an inconvenient schedule but it slowly built up regular attendees with 10 (out of 20) students on the last day of class.

I have a premium membership that allows me to use the hydro massage and attend classes. Post-COVID, the vinyasa yoga classes taught by Emily C. on Tuesdays 4:45p and Saturdays at 8a at the Escondido location are what brought me back to the gym. People who are new may find it difficult to catch up to a yoga class but Emily's classes are well thought out with great instruction and demonstration. Emily includes alternate poses for easier or challenging options, catering to your proficiency level. The class movements flow from warm up, to strength building and balance work, then to a peak pose, and finally to relaxation. She ends all her classes with a reading for self-reflection. I have been taking yoga for several years and from my perspective, Emily C is the best teacher I have been lucky enough to find. I can see the changes that Emily's yoga classes have made to my mind and body. I wish Emily could teach more yoga classes at better schedules so that other members can experience her guidance. But, even if Emily doesn't get better time slots, it's worth changing your schedule to attend her classes. Hope to see you there! Namaste.

Decent enough place to lift but I stopped going because of one of their policies. If you have a bag of your own equipment like I do (belt, squat shoes, knee sleeves, wrist wraps, etc) they do not let you carry it with you. Even if it's kept out of walkways and against the wall.

Instead they force you to either (1) lock it in the locker room with your own lock or one you buy from them or (2) keep it in your car. That means switching out equipment in the middle of a workout becomes ridiculously inconvenient.

For example, after squatting I change out of my squat shoes and put my knee sleeves away. That means walking all the way back to my car and changing shoes sitting on my trunk, or going back to the locker room, putting in my combination, and pulling my bag out of the small locker so I can put stuff away. Then putting it back, and possibly doing that one or two more times in the workout depending on the stuff I need. Not worth it.

Otherwise the equipment is great and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Chuze is a small facility but an economical option for folks. Not much offered compared to other clubs. It's probably a convenient location. It offers the usual weight machines, free weights, etc. and a small classes room that used to be my favorite "circuit room:" 15 or so machines that exercised your whole body. I cancelled my silver sneakers membership b/c of this change. It's a good club. Has/had tanning beds, massage beds for a premium membership price. It's no longer my favorite.

They're still using Matrix treadmills. Matrix is the lowest level of athletic equipment. It's fine if you're elderly or in physical therapy. If you're a serious athlete, 24 hour fitness is the only gym that features treadmills with more than a 15% incline. Don't ever settle for a gym that features Matrix!

My very favorite parts of Chuze are the yoga and strength & conditioning classes taught by Yoshi. Yoshi is an amazing teacher and I am so very grateful she is teaching at Chuze…she is such a gift!

I love all the friendly staff. It is so neat that they greet each member on our way in and then say goodbye to us on our way out. Every time I have needed help with something they are so accommodating, patient, polite and kind.

My wife and I have used Chuze Fitness for a number of years and have enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, the wide range of equipment, and the return on investment we receive by several the times a week we work out there. Although I have never belonged to a gym, I am thrilled with my Chuze experience. Gyms were intimidating places in my mind, but that is definitely not the case here. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful, happy to guide me through using the equipment or answering my questions, and on top of cleaning and maintainence of the facility. Example: the clock in one area had stopped working. I mentioned this to the front desk late one afternoon. At my workout the next morning, they were replacing the battery. Every time I'm in, they are cleaning/restocking something, and I have never seen a piece of equipment out of commission. Excellent first time gym experience.

For a smaller Chuze that doesn't offer as many amenities as a Super Chuze I would say this one maximizes its space in the best way possible. The sheer variety of machines and weights that fit into that smaller space is actually kind of impressive, and I love that they have two turf areas that have their own equipment to offer like the Plyo Blocks, Battle Ropes and the rack with all the Kettlebells on it in one turf area, and ab and pull-up machines in the other. I haven't tried any of the classes personally, but I'm sure they're great.The staff is always super friendly as well, making sure to greet you on your way in and wish you a good day or evening on your way out. They were also helpful administratively with an issue my girlfriend had regarding her rewards points and were able to resolve it the same day. I also see them cleaning machines and floors and whatever else have you fairly regularly, and they're good about restocking the little clean wipe dispensers too.The amenities that are available such as the hydro massage are also a huge plus, I like that they're separated into their own rooms which are kept clean and the lighting is so perfect. I have not used the small infrared sauna's or tanning beds but I'm sure they are likewise awesome for those who do/have in the past.This Chuze is also the only one near us in North County and I feel super happy that its close by even with the lack of some of the amenities offered by Super Chuze's such as the Chuze Cinema, Smoothie Bar or a Pool. My girlfriend and I have been so happy to be regulars at this one, my only feedback is that I think it'd be good if they were able to get another one of those machines that... I don't know what it's called? But its in the turf area in the corner, it has different attachments for the handle things that you can slide up and down. But another one or two of those would be awesome, as I see it constantly in use and even have trouble gaining access to it myself sometimes. Thats not an issue with anything Chuze or the employees who work there are doing, people just jump on that one for a long time hahaha.Thank you guys for all you do!

Giving this gym five stars for the nice employees who greeted me today and took their time answering all my questions about memberships. There were two men working that were good at explaining things, not intimidating, and didn't pressure me into signing up or giving my contact information. This gym is more pricy than I wanted so I decided to go with another one, although this place has a great environment! It is also farther from my house so it was a personal decision. I have a friend who goes to this gym and loves it.

It's nice having a gym so close that I can just walk over, but lately the quality of my visits has been going downhill. Recently they've been letting more and more people come in and ego lift. They've been yelling, grunting, and cussing at each other like it's a high school gym. A couple of the guys were gym employees themselves, so of course the staff did nothing. Teach your employees proper gym etiquette, it's not that hard.

Although the variety of equipment is good at this location, I've been disappointed with the upkeep of some of the equipment. As a cyclist, I use the stationary bikes which seem to be malfunctioning or in states of disrepair every time that I've there. As a transplant from the closed RB location from Dec 2021, this is now the closest location to me. I last visited Dec 5, 2019 and at that time, I let the front desk know that their stationary bikes were not working properly. They let me know that they put in a work order. In January 2022, with the RB location closed, I now no longer had any choice but to transfer to Escondido. I have on several occasions informed the front desk about problems with the stationary bikes (asset tags 3566 & 3567) but have been told that work orders have been put in but yet to see any results.

While I understand Covid has impacted supply chain issues for parts, it seems to me they are not doing much to maintain these bikes. I am now seriously evaluating other gyms closer to home that seem to have better maintenance on their equipment.

Gage, Caleb, and Misraim started the experience of great. They greeted me friendly and professional. They helped me with all of my questions and the best part......they didnt bug me!!!! By that i mean they didnt make me do a rediculous walk through or over kill the rules. They let me enjoy the experience of a new gym and were there for as much as i needed them. Great job guys. definently a great place to work out!!!! P.s. Rollo(my pit bull/service dog said he gives you 10 gold stars lol)

Phenomenal staff and really good gym. Always showing love and each member takes time to care and inspect the equipment. Francisco is one of the most genuine guys there, not knocking any other guys…they’re all awesome. Also all the women are all great too all around 10 stars. Way better with cost and personnel this is a jewel in Escondido.

I have been a member for quite some time now, and enjoy going. The workers are really friendly. They always clean the gym equipments to keep a clean environment. Mornings are the perfect time to go if you like it with less traffic. Busiest times I’ve seen are usually between 2-5 pm, only downfall is that it’s not 24/7 but no cons other than that.

So I’m not one to go full Karen or anything of that nature but one thing I can’t tolerate is disrespect and lack of professionalism. Front desk clerk Francisco needs to go over work ethics again and should probably wait til after work to hug friends in there work area while someone is trying to pay for something and ask for information and then completely gaffed me off, and the supervisor didn’t even correct it or even bother to help. This ain’t it y’all need to do better last time I come here.

I like Chuze fitness I like it to ache we talked about Toys”R” us in go to new your before I left chuze yesti felt relaxed after the sauna I won’t 10 dollars everyday may my paycheck I made. I applied for Chuze Fitness and I hope I can start working. Join society in be comfortable being around people. In be committed to my health. Everything was ok until they tried charging me twice for yearly membership in less than 4 months. Counter girl tried showing the bill history acting like they didn't charge. .
