Last night, I witnessed a very uncomfortable incident in which the manager, Ivonne Cortez, was very rude and dismissive towards members who were older and complaining that there had not been hot showers for the past two months. It was upsetting to see her treat them so unprofessionally and I couldn't help but wonder if race played a role in the confrontation. In looking at some of the other reviews, she seems to have a history of unprofessional conduct. I hope the owners reevaluate who they have representing them or provide more customer service and diversity training.

I appreciate the welcoming environment at Chuze Fitness, along with the professionalism of the staff and the cleanliness of the facility. The variety of equipment and group classes make it easy to maintain a consistent and enjoyable fitness routine.

It would be great if more group classes were offered after noon on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as well as around 8:30 p.m. on weeknights to better accommodate different schedules.

I noticed coming to this specific facility, its like family here. The employees are always so professional: courteous and respectful. They greet everyone that comes in and when they get a chance...they are always saying goodbye. They always try to keep it as clean as possible and that's a plus when coming to a public gym. But the guests have to do their part as well. I appreciate each and every employee here and I hope that corporate actually reads these and recognizes the employees who want to be there. They certainly deserve a free lunch, Starbucks or something nice. God bless.

I’ve been a premium member at this Chuze Fitness location, but for over a month the men’s showers have had no hot water. I reported the issue several times to employees and management, and every time they said it would be fixed “in two weeks,” but nothing has changed.
As a premium member, I’m paying for full access to all amenities, including hot showers after swimming or using the steam room. Without hot water, the service is incomplete and not what was promised. The staff didn’t take my concerns seriously.

This location really needs to improve its maintenance and customer service. It’s disappointing to pay for a premium membership but not receive the basic amenities that should be included.

I go to a couple different Chuze locations. The staff here are always kind and helpful. It’s crowded during peak times. The small sauna has been deserted lately. I thought it was because of the upgrade in the larger sauna. Turns out- it’s because there are cockroaches. 😞 Minus 2 stars for the 2 cockroaches I saw in there. Willing to update my review for when pest control comes and gets rid of the cockroaches. Cockroaches can happen but the response is important.

Amazing experience.
I switched to Chuze after being a loyal member of the 24 hr fitness for over 10 years and this has been my best decision ever.
This place is impeccable and all the weights are available for when needed.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming all the time. Specially Mando, he is always eager to help and make your experience better.
There’s a great culture of re racking amd cleaning after for the next person that is out of this world!
Fit lab is a VIP “must” experience that you need to add to your membership if you love weightlifting.

I do really love this gym because the staff keep it so clean. I come here to swim like 5 days a week. However, for some reason, for almost a week, the swimming pool is no longer appropriately equipped with the lane divider ropes. There used to be 2 ropes but now only one left, which makes it extremely hard to do lap swim as people swim all over the place!

I always tell everyone about Chuze in Garden Grove. Chuze is underrated but far exceeds my expectations. I have had 24 hour fitness, Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, even more exclusive gym memberships. I must say what is awesome about Chuze is the price and then all the amenities that come with it! Way better than the other gyms when your taking in all factors. Garden Grove team members are all amazing! Even on my worst days, they have been patient and friendly! RED LIGHT therapy at Garden Grove is what separates the good to the better. They are the only one in the area, for now that offers Red Light! All Chuze is great, but Garden Grove is the best location.

Today I had the misfortune of running into Yvonne, who calls herself the “manager” of brookhurst Gym. I told her I was running late for work and just wanted to let my wife in — her name was already on the guest list. But instead of doing the obvious and reasonable thing, Yvonne kicked me out and demanded that my wife create an account.

I know the rules here. I’ve been coming every single day without a problem. But apparently Yvonne decided today was the day to play hero. Her attitude wasn’t just rude — it was dripping with arrogance, and honestly, it felt like she had a personal issue with Vietnamese people.

If this is the kind of “management” brookhoust Gym is proud of, then good luck keeping members. I, for one, won’t stay in a place where the so-called manager treats paying customers like trash. There are hundreds of gyms in America that don’t tolerate this kind of unprofessional, power-tripping behavior.

I canceled my membership today, and I know I’m not the only one fed up with her. Plenty of older members here have already complained about her toxic attitude. So congratulations, Yvonne — you’re not just driving people away, you’re doing it with style

I have go to this chuze at Garden grove for 10 years. It’s clean and there are a lot of group classes training. I usually go Zumba class on Sunday. This gym is okay overall, but nothing outstanding. The biggest issue is how crowded it gets during peak hours — it’s really hard to get a workout done when you have to wait quite a while just to use a machine. The equipment they have is fine, but the selection isn’t very extensive compared to other gyms in the area. It can get frustrating if you’re trying to stick to a routine and everything is taken. On the positive side, the place is clean and the membership price is reasonable, so it’s acceptable if you’re just looking for a basic gym. However, if you want more variety in equipment or a less crowded environment, this might not be the best choice.

Chuze at Garden Grove is a good gym with decent parking. But one thing that really bugs me — a lot of people, especially younger ones, come to work out but spend more time on their phones than actually exercising. They'll do one set, then sit on the machine scrolling for several minutes before doing another, while others are waiting. Come on, people — be mindful. Focus on your workout, keep things moving, and let others have a turn. If you want to use your phone, step aside and do it somewhere else. Let's keep the gym flow going for everyone

I’m writing as a regular member who truly enjoys the environment and amenities your gym provides. However, I wanted to share a concern regarding a recent change in the cleaning supplies provided on the workout floor.

Previously, there were conveniently placed stations with pre-moistened wipes that made it easy and efficient for members to clean the equipment before and after use. Unfortunately, those have now been replaced with spray bottles of disinfectant — but without any accompanying paper towels or wipes.

This change has led to two issues:
1. Many members no longer clean the machines, likely due to the inconvenience of not having anything to wipe them down with.
2. For those of us who do want to clean the equipment, it’s frustrating not to have the proper materials to do so hygienically.

While I understand that there may be budgetary or logistical reasons behind this change, the current setup is not working effectively. It compromises the cleanliness of the equipment and the overall gym experience.

I respectfully urge you to reconsider bringing back a more practical cleaning solution, whether it be the pre-moistened wipes or at least providing paper towels alongside the spray bottles.

On Sunday, March 16, 2025, at approximately 7:48 p.m., I was told by the hispanic male employee that I could not use these sunglasses 😎displayed below this review. I let him know they are UVA and UVB protection. He said, " Those cannot be worn, and they have to be goggles." I asked him why, and his response was that it does not cover the entire eye from UVA and UVB." If this were the case, then it would defeat the purpose of buying sunglasses that cover UVA and UVB. Not just that, I see that he is making this personal because he is only asking me when so many individuals use the red light machine and those customers are not being bothered about which exact Eyewear are they wearing for the red light. I also understand that it is part of their job to ask if we have Eyewear for the red light. However, asking which Eyewear is a different question. That is where I see the hispanic making this a personal matter.

If this policy is true, then to make things fair, every customer needs to be held accountable and treated equally about the same policies with the exact Eyewear.

Chuze didn't attempt to charge my card on file. They hit me with a "late payment fee." (Every year!) Apparently, there's nothing chuze can do about it," i called my bank. They never charged my card... when chuze said, my card declined. Payment is unsuccessful due to chuze Fitness not initiating Payment. scam left to another gym. I have been going to this Chuze gym for a few years now and enjoyed my membership up until now. This incident happened on February 17, 2025 around 2:00 pm-3:00pm specifically at the smith machine in the turf area. Indecent, rude and degenerate gym members unfortunately exist and that is the reality of the world, but what was extremely disappointing was how the gym Staff David did NOT mitigate such horrid action of that gym member but actually supported and enabled such disgusting behavior. The gym is very busy with people all over the turf near all sorts of equipment and machine. I do my due diligence by waiting for the person using the smith machine to finish their set and during their resting period go up to them and ask them how many more sets they have. Luckily, the couple said they finished and that I could have the smith machine. Right before I was about to start my set a gentleman came up to me and asked if he could have the machine after. Of course I said yes and moved on with my set. This gym etiquette practice is nothing new and is a regular logical way of going about to make sure you are in queue for such machine. Right after I finish I signaled to the gentleman that he could have the machine, the next thing I know a female gym member inserts herself and claims that it is actually her turn and that she has been waiting. I simply told her that the gentlemen actually asked me and so he is the one who gets to be next, and that she has to make herself known bc she is sitting on the turf in front of multiple equipments that are being used and who knows if she was finished and just stretching and or waiting for another machine. Having no shame she says she does not care and that she has been waiting and she is going to use the machine. She continues to act like she is entitled to the machine and moves her belongings to the smith machine. The poor guy just let her have it and we both just exchanged a look of confusion and surprise. I felt horrible for him because he did his due diligence and came up to me and asked for it and she just bulldozed/bullied her way into getting it. I felt very bad for the guy and imagined myself in his shoes and this type of behavior at the gym is unacceptable. I decided to bring this to the attention of gym staff because I do not want this type of behavior at the gym I like to be allowed and ongoing. The gym staff David took a look at the video cameras to confirm my story and he decided that he would go talk to the rude female gym member. He asked me if I am okay being there when they talk which I said I am fine because I do not mind letting her know who I am. David comes over to talk to her and she says she has been waiting here for a while even before I got to the machine but because she was stretching that's why she let me have it and that she didn't want to disrupt the people before her, yet she had no problem starting an altercation with someone who went out of their way to ask for the machine next. Then she decided to lie about what happen, which clearly did not line up with the video footage at all and when I interjected about the false information David deemed me as being rude and interrupting her. David pulled me aside to actually let the bully finish her workout and essentially enabled her behavior and deemed me as the problem. I do not understand for the life of me why he sided with her (maybe he was gonna try to get her number after or something) when my story and the video camera were aligned and there were multiple people/witness that would confirm my story. The blatant indecency and disrespect was more shocking due to the gym staff siding with bully. This was a very disappointing incident that occured today and should be considered looking forward.

The staff are incredibly supportive and friendly. I take my 3-year-old to the kids' club, and the team there does an amazing job—my son loves going! I was initially worried that transitioning him to a different daycare might have a negative impact, but thanks to the exceptional staff, the change went smoothly. When applying for a free trial at Chuze, Chuze is not like UFC Gym or 24hour Fitness or LA Fitness. (I’ve had memberships at all three). They do not go hardcore trying to “tour” you around and get you to sign up for a membership. You just sign up through their app and you have your free trial which is just awesome and simple. They are not a money grabbing gym like the others.

Very low intelligent staff!! I went with my fiancé to cancel her membership, and the lady on the front Ash told us it has been already canceled and we are all set !!!! next day we woke up. I loved the idea of the kids club & I was so excited to join but the hours aren’t convenient.
Open 8-12pm & 4:30-8
then closed from 12-4:30…
12-4 are the best hours to not only beat traffic but most people are at work.
Paying the extra charge but without the extra benefits. Not worth it, might as well pay for outside child care to go to the gym…
A shame. Maybe 12-1 to sanitize but 12-4:30.
I tried to call ahead of time but no answer & it kept hanging up when being “directed”
No corporate number either. It’s a shame. I have plenty of mom friends that homeschool & would love to have the 12-4 open for kids club but unfortunately not. I left a review on the chuze fitness in Anaheim location, and they provided absolutely exceptional customer service starting with Marcus. Everyone there is absolutely professional, kind, and benevolent. However, at this location, everyone has been kind and friendly except for Mando, who acted unprofessional, and with a domineering tone of voice, he spoke very demanding . He can make customers aware of goggle wear in a kind humble method. Without a superiority attitude. There is no need for that. The other employees were busy cleaning while Mando was alone during the time he spoke this way.

Save your money, just get the regular membership. This gym recently improved with the addition of the Lift Lab and other amenities. To gain access to the Lift Lab, you need to have a higher-tier membership. Here is the problem: the members paying the premium for access are essentially paying for all the other people who just walk in when someone else exits. There are also people leaving the door propped open, giving non-members access. How can they justify charging members while those who aren't paying still have access? They should just make it accessible to everyone. It's not fair to those who are actually paying for access.

Personally I believe Chuze offers a great variety of group fitness classes that help keep me motivated and make working out a blast! Dawn’s LesMills BodyCombat class on Sunday is my fave and Michelle’s cycling and Lesmills BodyPump are fantastic! I feel like the lift lab adds a great value to the MORE level membership I currently have. Also, the compression boots as a recovery option are definitely a lifesaver after leg day, for sure! I do wish they had zero gravity massage chairs at this location.

Pretty unprofessional considering they made new “private workout rooms” and they keep coming in and out demanding you to pull out your barcode numerous times, even after scanning your barcode to enter the room. If they have a barcode scanner outside why bother people while they’re working out privately ? I LOVE this Gym. Ashley in the front is the most helpful genuine sweetheart. She’s pretty rad. A dedicated staff super friendly and she welcome you with the prettiest smile. The staff was very friendly and approachable, the gym was clean and culture was very friendly with a good amount of diverse equipment. Unfortunately I moved and had no locations in the southern OC area.

It's very VERY clean. No dust bunnies, no hair lying around unlike some gyms that don't reinvest into their gym. There is very rarely any broken machines and if anything like even a pleather cover is torn it's replaced as quickly as later that day! Chuze has a ton of great group classes. I like that Chuze is also very body positive, cares about their instructors, and generally is a very happy vibe. The employees are always friendly and ready to help you out, not passively trying not to do work. You can tell Chuze maintains itself and isn't coasting on non-use member fees. I hope their new remodel and new types of membership don't change the price or access too much.

Have been member for about 1 year , will joining another 24 hr access gym.

Here are some reasons for my change:
1) Hispanic Music is turned on super loud, not everyone listen to Latino music. I did call the management to request they moderate the volume, and change music, of which my customer input was ignored with no action.
2) The Left Side hot Suana is always just warm temp.
3) The operating hours are not convenient for my weekend workout schedules (closed after 10pm on weekends).

Pro's:
-HydroMassage was clean, well maintained.
-Some staffers were very professional, some didnt care.

So...the biggest gripe is:

Latino management should not force their cultural music on the masses. (yes this is USA, with the diverse ethnic melting pot, why cant we keep the music neutral for all to enjoy our workout)

(I personally have nothing against Latin music, but dont want to hear it during my paid $$$ gym workout)

Instructor Maribel Schindelman is so incredibly inspiring with Pop Pilates, leading us by superb example with lighthearted, integrating, elegant challenges, that I’ve previously brought my mother as a guest to her instruction. This is my favorite class at Chuze, tied with Killer Core & Glutes, both second to Reformer and Pre/Postnatal Pilates at KOR Pilates studio in Huntington Beach.

Nice staff. But no weights to put on the equipment available. Extremely crowded with a bunch of kids. If you're an older guy youll feel like your surrounded by highschoolers. Everyone is mean mugging eachother for no reason. Music is one sided genre. If your someone serious into lifting this is not the place for you. Free week pass was nice but not worth it.

Edit: Update: Thanks for the response. However i think a big factor i am adressing the the over capacity. It is clearly beyond limit for practical use and SAFETY!

Great place in the early mornings

1. The hot tub water is almost unbearable. In the past, they would at least use a spray to control the bubbles. If they are going to insist on dirty water they should at least leave the spray out for the paying members who get the privilege of stewing in this water.

2. Regarding the steam room constantly shutting down for 15-25 minutes at a time, the minimum steam temperature is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The steam generator is constantly getting a fresh supply of COLD water, and quite honestly is engineered to supply steam at a minimum temperature of 212 degrees.

This gym is asking its members to believe that pouring some water on a thermocouple on the wall in the steam room is causing the steam generator to either 1. Malfunction or 2. Overheat (go into some kind of protection mode). Funny thing is, this protection mode never seems to happen when the gym isn’t busy. I understand why the gym is against people tricking the thermostat (calling it what it is) to make the steam room hotter, but being told that there is a “malfunction” after someone reports water on the thermostat, seems a little fishy. The official set temperature is 110 degrees which is almost half that of the temperature coming out of the generator. Do you really think a multi thousand dollar piece of spa equipment really is going to malfunction if the temperature goes up to, let’s say, 130 degrees? No. Either they have a faulty unit, or are misleading their members. Also, If it has to be said, it’s mandatory that the sensor is waterproof due to the steam environment in the room, so unless you pour acid on the wall, the sensor will remain unaffected. Definitely we aren’t getting the truth and it’s Very disappointing.

This is the same gym that will accept the steam generator running at half capacity for months without scheduling any sort of service/ replacement preventably, only to wait until it breaks for good so they can close it down for a month and a half. They still get their money and get a nice break on utilities.

Profit is important but at a certain point, wear parts are going to break heating elements are going to disintegrate and no matter what temperature the steam room reaches, I guarantee you this steam generator will break as well. In the big picture, with proper management (as well as paying respect to customer complaints/ observations regarding the functionality of their equipment) rather than losing the steam room for a month +, they could have easily had the room preventatively fixed without any downtime without wasting money or forcibly devaluing our memberships.

I’ve been coming here for years now, I get it things happen but it’s getting crazy. I wish this location had a little more respect for the customer.

I’ve been going to Chuze almost every weekday for the last five months, so…. this is what I think..

Chuze is great. I go to use the treadmill, which DOES NOT have a time limit! You can go past the hour mark and not have it shut down on you like every other gym (super nice for distant runners!). Unfortunately, the ellipticals do stop on the hour, so I usually wait for it to timeout before restarting, or I just leave (only using till my knee heals).

Chuze has great temperature.
I’ve tried Planet Fitness and it’s unbearably hot, like suffering every minute from the heat (I think it’s so you’d leave sooner).
It’s so much cooler at Chuze, especially in the morning or after 10pm. It can get stuffy with a lot of people, but I run and I still find it better than PF.

For weekdays I aim to go 4am-6am, or 10pm-close. Other times can get crowded.

Other things I love:
-Cleanliness
-Friendly Staff
-Turf area (I just started using)
-Chuze Rewards (So close to first free month!)
-Plenty of wipes

Dislikes:
-Fountain water (taste gross! I bring my own)
-Can get crowded
-People’s knees

Overall, great gym!
Not gonna stop going

Facility and equipment are always clean and organized. The staff members have exceptional customer service. The only downside in my opinion is that it gets pretty busy in the evening and it takes away from being able to use specific machines/equipment. Other than that, my experience with Chuze is great and that’s why I returned after being at another local gym. I choose Chuze! Lol

A member for almost 4 months. Great location bad and has a kids care and looks clean but the pool area is a disaster. Saunas are never hot enough and a joke. Dirty drinking fountains. Some are out of order. Staff members are absolutely great but please do something before i go somewhere else. Other members here agree too.
