I have so many complaints about the stockton location. First of all, the building location is ghetto. Parking lot is dirty looking and rarely any available parking due to it being a busy shopping center next to Ross, Urgent Care and other businesses. Secondly, the week that i signed up, they had 4-5 treadmills out of commission. These treadmills stayed unavailable for weeks with a sign on them saying they will be back up and running but yet it took over a month to get them repaired. Then, the gym was all out of sanitation wipes at every single station! The employee said the shipment never came in. Wow! During one of my visits, the employee signed me up for a massage chair and then she signed someone else up with my same exact chair! A woman comes up to me stating that I took her chair when all along it was the employee who made the mistake and put both of us in the same chair #. Are employees trained appropriately? I guess not. Lastly, I’m at the gym Sunday morning and completed my workout. I go to the desk to order a protein drink and there is only 1 staff member working. She is assisting people at the front desk with sign ups etc. I’m standing waiting and waiting for nearly 15 minutes! She still isn’t available. She tells me that there isn’t anyone else to help and one girl is out to lunch. I finally left without my drink as I had somewhere to be and couldn’t wait any longer. Every time I come into this gym there are issues and why is it always short staffed? Lines at the front almost daily. Hire more people! You clearly need it! This is ridiculous! All of these memberships and your corporation cannot staff enough people, provide adequate supplies in the gym, get machines to work consistently (although they claim all equipment is brand new)! They don’t appear to take reviews and complaints seems despite having a horrible overall review of 3.9 currently!? And they’ll claim to address things once they reply to this review but highly doubtful due to seeing other reviews months ago and still experiencing the same issues! These folks don’t care, these issues are above their pay grade. Corporate needs to hold folks accountable or set some standards. I understand that no gym is perfect but these complaints (and reviews) should raise some eyebrows you would think! Get it together CHUZE or I will be leaving!

I regularly go here to use the cinema room and I love it! However, the staff is pretty unpleasant. Any time I try to ask a question or for help with something, they’re not helpful at all. I only seem to get attitude and condescending answers. I wish they could be more friendly and helpful when I visit, but at least I can always go into the cinema for a good workout.

Beautiful gym but the staff is extremely rude and it ruins the experience. Waited in line for almost 5 minutes to get a bottle of water. Both staff members looked annoyed that they’d have to ring me up…for a water…Considering cancelling my membership due to this.

Their outdoor section is my favorite although it could use a cover for the rain and heat but that and their smoothies after a recovery session, can’t find that anywhere else in town. Plus the lift lab where it’s nice and quiet to get some serious lifts in is the best.

They gym is overall fine but they need to put air fresheners or have better ventilation in the cinema room and the small saunas because they stink like straight up BO.

Everything is spot on point. The only thing I would change is making sure the staff is welcoming every time a member walks in the door being greated before a workout does pump me up and shows that the staff is friendly and notices your existence. As well as when we leave a simple have a good day see you next time is always something positive I would love to hear.

Chuze is the best! I recently moved and I had been going to Valley Fitness… I had been recommended to Chuze by a friend and decided to try it out. They have so many machines, free weights, cardio machines, amenities and more… I highly recommend this gym!

I love this gym! I usually work out in Sacramento, but I'm visiting family and tried this place, and I'm hooked. They have new machines and more stuff than back home, so it's perfect for this area.

Overall, it’s a good gym. It’s spacious, the staff are easy-going, and the amenities are great if you’re willing to pay a little extra. You need your smartphone to check-in and pretty much for everything else so make sure it’s charged!
It’s definitely a lot livelier than most gyms I’ve tried and you will see all age groups/physiques which makes me feel a lot more comfortable coming here. The bathrooms are very clean and the theater room is such a fun place go get your cardio out of the way.
My only (small) complaint is that some of the cardio equipment are VERY noisy even when a small figured person is using it. Not an issue, so just turn up the volume 😅

Chuze Fitness is a great gym with a lot to offer. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and the facility is always clean. I'm a big fan of the variety of classes and amenities they have available. My only minor complaint is that the towels provided for wiping down machines are not very good. They're often thin and don't seem to do a great job of cleaning. It's a small issue, but it's something that could definitely be improved. Overall, it's a solid gym and a great value for the price.

I don't get all the complaints. This is a great gym. My only complaints are it closes too early especially Friday, Saturday, Sunday & there can be a wait for some machines. You do have the occasional inconsiderate person or group but that's Stockton - no fault of this gym.

I'm dropping my review to 3 stars because the shakes or drinks they sell do not list any ingredients or nutrition facts. Very surprising for a gym where you go to get healthy. They just list protein on the menu. Most likely the smoothies are packed with sugar and are not very healthy. Who knows what other ingredients are in there?

Staff are extremely unprofessional and lazy! The amount of times of having to wait in line for 10min+ just to simply get a massage chair is crazy. They tend to be extremely strict for no reason. They will get mad if you bring a Mat to stretch on in the yoga room, why? Oh because it’s not a yoga mat. I have a premium membership but even wit it, the so call buddy pass , only have basics. So while I bring a buddy and want to do sauna and swim , my buddy would have to wait in the main area because their plan is “ basic. “ such a joke. The staff told my friend he’s “ pushing it” with his normal size backpack because they felt it was too big. It’s literally like a boot camp gym. So
Much so they all walk around with walkie talkies😂. It’s always messy. Weights all over the place. Trust and believe me. the hype isn’t worth it. It never was. Just lost a customer!

I like this gym a lot with a big floor plan and very spacious. But they have random maintenance times for the sauna/pool area. I’ve been there during different times of the day. Early morning, noon and evening and on multiple occasions the sauna is closed. At least have some type of consistency of when maintenance is. Also multiple machines broken down since it’s opened and still no fix. Big example is on their fly machine. One of them has had loose bolts and makes the handle very unstable. Still hasn’t been fixed yet. It’s the little things that add up and it’s starting to show more and more.

I really wanted to join this Gym but Unfortunately, based off of first impression, I wasn’t very amazed. I was standing in line for about 30 minutes, just to get information and possibly sign up for a membership. The staff were not very attentive They kind of acted unprofessional and very young minded. I ask one of the gym employees If she Was going to be checking people in and stuff because she was just standing there almost as if she was avoiding working and she was like yeah I’m bout to go on my lunch so you’re gonna have to speak with him And from what it looked like, it seemed as if the people that were checking into the gym that already had a membership. We’re waiting in a line as well… That’s something I would I didn’t like because I want to be able to get into the gym when I go, I don’t want to wait in the line for 30 minutes just to be able to access the gym. Overall the aesthetic looks pretty pleasing though.

Chuze is definitely cleaner and has more to offer than any InShape. But that’s all that this really has going for it. The biggest issue here is the weight racks. Not only are Stockton people just being Stockton by just ruining any place they go, but I have only ever seen one staff member go around and vacuum the place. Never have staff put the weights back let alone in the proper spot. Again, that’s mostly because of the laziness of Stockton people and their attitudes - can’t give them anything nice. When I was at the Florin location, everything was dusted, wiped down, and vacuumed every hour. This place has a lot of potential … but this place can go downhill real quickly if they let it … especially in Stockton.

I couldn't wait for this gym to open up it would be nice to have child care so I can work out but every time that I go its always packed and there isn't enough machines to excise I pay 50 dollars a month and there is nothing to do its packed I probably wont renew it next month because I don't get to use my membership. the child care hours are only open for little bit and the time is open its busy and they don't have room for my son to get in. the lines are so long to talk to some at the front desk.

Love the gym overall have had a great experience so far. The only drawbacks which isn't much of a drawback more like something that could be improved.
1. Would be they need to upstaff with more staff.
2. The temperature in the gym is always running hot. Wish the AC was cooler.
3. Wish the kids club had a mid-day schedule, some parents only have time to workout during middle of the day. Like if they had a hours for 1 to 4 would be great.

The facility is immaculate. Lots of space. If lifting or cardio is your thing they have plenty of equipment and more racks than other gyms. However, I signed up primarily to use the pool and for hot yoga which is advertised on their sign/site and also requires an upgraded membership.
I found they don’t provide towels or shampoo in the showers making packing for the gym an ordeal. Also, there are no hot yoga classes on the schedule! I know they’re new so giving it a month to see if any are added before canceling.
Not a fan of coed sauna either.

Messiest gym I have ever been to. I haven't been to a gym since they got shut down during COVID and bought equipment for a home setup. This one opened right down the street so I checked it out the first day they opened using their free pass and was there all 7 days, sometimes more than once. It was great until the first Monday hit, then it was all downhill from there.

Hardly ANYONE follows the rules or even the most basic gym etiquette. Weight plates are left all over the place, stacked on top of different weights, dumbbells left on the floor, out of place, or completely missing. Ive been going to gyms across the country for most of my life and worked at one and I've never seen it this bad. Some of the machines are also pretty old or banged up from the get go with pin plates sticking to each other, things not functioning properly, broken parts or uneven, amongst other issues.

Some of the things are nice and new such as the squat racks and deadlift platforms and new machines, but even in those, people leave their weights around, don't properly put them back, etc, and it completely overshadows some of the nice things at the gym. It also gets SO packed on Mondays that you're likely to run into trouble listening to music using Bluetooth devices because so many people are there. Hopefully this does down as more people in the area stop going because their free pass runs out.

I was considering getting a membership but with how bad it was during the second half of my free pass, there's no way I'm paying for a place in such a condition. I don't ever see anyone going around and enforcing their rules, maybe because they are understaffed, I don't know. But a gym that pays their staff less than fast food workers, it wouldn't surprise me that they will stay short staffed. The pay applies to managers as well unfortunately. If they had just 1 staff member for the next couple months specifically as the role of "floor police", doing nothing but enforcing rules and keeping people in check, it would go a LONG way for it's members and people like me.

I'd like to see this place succeed because I'm very passionate about fitness and physical health, but there are definitely better options available right now. Maybe in 6 months it'll get better when things chill out a bit and I can try it again and update this review, but if you're already going to a gym or have a home one like I do that mostly gets the job done, I'd recommend sticking to it for the time being.

It’s okay. I do like it better than the other gyms in Stockton as far as the equipment and amenities. . Just hoping it won’t continue to be as crowded as time goes on. Even at 4am it’s so many ppl. Hope for possible 24hr days. Plus, Ross will be opening soon and there won’t be any parking spaces during the day. Also, the cinema room needs to have a fan or ac on at all times. There’s no fresh air in there and it gets humid.

This is a nice gym overall—clean, modern, and with a good variety of equipment. It has the potential to be a great place to work out. Unfortunately, my experience during the first week made it clear that this gym lacks proper rule enforcement and accountability, which significantly affects the environment.

Many members don’t re-rack their weights or return equipment to the correct spots. Dumbbells are often left out of place, so you end up searching around just to find what you need. Equipment is frequently left scattered across the floor, creating clutter and safety concerns.

When I toured the gym before it opened, I was told that bags wouldn't be allowed on the floor and that member access to premium areas would be strictly monitored. In reality, I see bags all over the place, rarely stored in lockers. Members also frequently hold doors open to premium areas, allowing those without access to freely enter. None of these rules are being enforced.

The owner has stated in other reviews that personal equipment isn’t allowed, but I regularly see people bringing in their own gear. On top of that, some members are treating the front lockers like personal storage. I'm at the gym at 4 a.m., and despite rarely seeing anyone using those lockers that early, most of them are always locked—clearly not being cleared out as they should be.

Staff are generally polite but not very attentive. For example, I went to get a smoothie one morning. One employee was doing dishes, another looked at me and walked away to chat with someone at the front desk. The one doing dishes eventually acknowledged me, but continued what she was doing. By the time someone finally helped me, there were about eight people waiting, even though I was the only one there at first.

There are other small but telling issues, like empty wipe dispensers and spills left unattended. I once saw a large puddle of water that sat on the floor for a while before I had to alert someone. It doesn’t seem like staff are regularly checking the floor or maintaining the space actively.

The worst part, though, is the disregard for basic gym etiquette. I’ve seen older women struggle to adjust machines because others left heavy weights loaded. That’s not just inconsiderate—it’s potentially dangerous. It’s frustrating when a gym says they’ll enforce policies, but in practice, they don’t.

After giving it a week, I decided to cancel my membership and return to my previous gym, where rules are enforced and members show more respect for the shared space. It’s disappointing because this facility has a lot of potential, but until management holds members accountable and staff take a more proactive approach, it’s not a place I want to train. I have canceled my membership after a week and half of starting there. Very disappointed.

This new gym is great and big, my only question is, why aren't there any paper towels, I've been to alot of gyms in stockton
and they always have paper towels, I come out of the sauna dripping and there's no paper towels to wipe myself off, I'd expect they would provide it.

Still trying to decide if I'll be a long time member. I've been a gym goer and avid lifter for little over a decade now, maintain a membership to a private anytime gym, but miss some commercial equipment so I wanted to give this place a try as it is new.

This place is great, huge floor space that has everything anyone needs to get a great workout in. I have a "More" membership so I get access to everything except childcare and it all seemed awesome (though I don't plan to use most of the amenities).

I tend to go in the early AM and as usual, it's a great time to catch anything I want. The space is clean, well kept, and staff is friendly. Hopefully, it stays that way and doesn't end up like In-Shape where dumbbells end up in random places and no one re-racks weights.

They have a lot of different machines to target everything on upper and lower body, and they have functional strength equipment like sleds, pullip rigs, medicine balls, etc. and a huge cardio section with the typical machines. Truly awesome to see.

Bathroom facilities are clean and they've got water filling stations, stuff I'd hope to see standard.

However, I'm giving 4/5 because I can't get a definitive answer to a question I've been calling/emailing/asking staff about; does this gym allow patrons to bring personal attachments?

I have some Max Advantage Grips (MAGs) that I use for pulldowns and rows that are really effective at targeting my back. One associate was gracious enough to allow me to use them, a phone call and I was told the answer was outright no. I read our member agreement and note our liability waiver absolves Chuze of a lot of things, so I gotta ask - can I bring my own personal grip attachments?

4/5 because I can't get a definitive answer, but love everything else.

UPDATE: I appreciate the kind and thorough response from the business. I'm actually lowering my review to 3 stars - the lifting floor is going the way of every commercial gym in Stockton. Weights in random places, patrons moving equipment around and not placing it back, seemingly no rerack policy and if there is one, it isn't enforced. Sad to see cause the first few days were amazing.
