Update: 5 years later, I still look back at the experience of working with Cindy as the best fitness experience I’ve had. I still reach out to Cindy or send her videos of lifts from time to time to get some pointers or advice even though I moved very far away.

I started working with Cindy in her strength class but switched to privates with her to do more corrective/performance training. Since working with her, I've been able to correct form, rehab previous injuries, and improve my strength and cardiovascular health. I also have a much better understanding of how my body works and the smaller stabilizing muscles used in movements. I've even been complimented by many other trainers and fitness professionals about my form during lifts and general body awareness.

Cindy's patient nonjudgemental style is perfect for anyone just starting out with lifting. And her expertise and own lifting accomplishments mean that she can help even the most advanced lifters progress. She breaks things down slowly and systematically as needed. She has a great understanding for where a beginner's mindset is and is able to teach components incrementally. Although I'm not a beginner, this is really important for me because I don't want to just throw a weight in the air. I want to understand how each muscle should work and the sequence of engagement during the lift. I've also come to appreciate this even more as I've been taking other fitness classes to supplement my training and notice that some coaches will allow a lot of dangerous movements without proper teaching or corrections.

Cindy's not just about barbells and lifting weights. She keeps the workouts diverse and fun. From boxing to rowing, sprinting and hiking, working with Cindy is never boring. I even brought my family in once and she created a really fun family workout circuit for the kids and all to do.

I highly recommend working with Cindy in either her strength class or individually. Her rates are very reasonable and is willing to meet at a wide range of hours, from 5am into the evening.

Cindy's training isn't just about physical strength; it's also about mindset. A trainer like Cindy, who can connect with you on multiple levels, helps tremendously with your progress. In less than a month, I was able to restart a fitness program tailored for me and shift my mindset towards a longer-term health plan that felt good. I highly recommend Cindy if you're looking for an expert in physical training coupled with positive thinking about overall health.

I worked with Cindy for about a year, and had a great experience. When we started out, I had very little experience lifting (had never received any formal instruction) and she gave me an incredible foundation. This ranged from help with form, warm up exercises, programming, stretches, accessories, and helping push me to my limit in the gym. After 6 months of working with her I was able to achieve my goals for deadlift, squat, and press, and I came away with general fitness knowledge and insight that I will probably take with me for the rest of my life.

Highly recommend Cindy to anyone looking for a more pedagogical approach to fitness training, especially for beginner or intermediate lifters looking to step up their game.

Cindy is a fantastic trainer. I've been working with her since fall 2019 on the recommendation of a friend. She has a special talent at seeing what an individual needs and coaching to that. She’s also very tuned in and professional - she’ll never ignore you while you do your reps. She's kept me accountable but also is supportive when I need it. I asked her to get me “strong as f*ck,” and she delivered!

Background for me: I've been weight training on my own since I was in high school, and I thought I had sufficient knowledge about all the various exercises, proper technique, sufficient range of motion, etc.

After just one session with Cindy, I quickly found out that I had so much left to learn. She assesses your fitness level on the first day and quickly identifies your strengths/weaknesses and is able to create a realistic and progressive regimen for you on a weekly basis. Her workouts will get your blood pumping during the strength portion and lungs gasping during the cardio section at the end. The warmups work on your flexibility and bodyweight motions. Suffice to say, I've left each session with the feeling of a successful workout and it always made me look forward to the next one.

If you're looking for a personal trainer to transform your body and mindset about working out, look no further. I highly recommend Cindy!

Cindy is awesome and very knowledgable. I train with her to help with my olympic lifts and she has cleaned them up quite a bit. Whether you have no experience in the gym or very experienced, Cindy is the trainer for you. She focuses on form and knows when to push you. She's also great with injuries. She is also patient, very enthusiastic and has great energy! Her gym is great for people worried about working out during quarantine. It's one on one, spacious, clean and very open and ventilated.

I started training with Cindy earlier this year to pick up where physical therapy left off with recovery from a shoulder surgery, along with trying to get some progress towards my fitness goals which have admittedly fallen to the wayside (see above, shoulder surgery). I have taken a lot of group classes, fitness classes, boot camps, etc., but Cindy has converted me towards personal training. She is fantastic, she strikes just the right balance of encouraging me while also pushing me to my best, whether I think I'm there or not. Also, she just has a ton of knowledge about everything you could ever want in personal training, from correct form, to appropriate workout routine, to even weekly diet. Cindy is definitely not a paint by the numbers trainer who throws a generic workout at you, then cheerleads. She tailors my workout to me based on how I'm feeling even on that day, along with reaching my actual goals (injury recovery), and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with her.

Ive been training for triathlons for many years and signed up for my first full Ironman which is a significant increase in mileage. Ive been struggling with some nagging knee and back issues that have often forced me to cancel races or miss training. Since I put a lot of mileage on my body, I know that strength training is necessary to get me to the starting line. Im pretty comfortable with body weight exercises at home but find the gym and weights intimidating still. So, I reached out to Cindy for her guidance after finding her videos on Instagram really helpful. I’ve worked with other trainers before and her attention to detail and technical knowledge are exceptional. I don’t want a textbook though so I really appreciate how she’s able to make things easy to understand and more importantly fun while still making progress in my training. She never sugarcoats things which helps me trust her more. I look forward to sessions with Cindy every week and appreciate how she’s constantly making improvements on herself as a coach and to her business and as a person. She is really passionate about having me understand why I am doing certain things and genuinely wants to help you succeed.

Doesn't get better than Cindy! I am naturally pretty scrawny and have always had trouble keeping on weight and building muscle. It all changed when I started training with Cindy 6 months ago. Her attention to detail, experience and knowledge are unmatched. She thoroughly shows and explains the fundamentals, makes micro-adjustments to enhance my form, tailors the exercises based on what my body needs, and advises on nutrition. Each day is different with her and keeps me on my toes, but builds on what we've learned in the past. Now I'm deadlifting and squatting and hip bridging with so much confidence! Highly recommend her for anyone looking to get started with strength training, build on what you already know, or take it to the next level. She can do it all!

I'd been playing sports or working out 4-5 days a week for years, but hadn't been very kind to my body in the process. For at least the last 3 years, I've been limping around with severe right knee pain. I'd sprint when playing sports over the weekend, my knee would throb and click all night and I'd have trouble stepping of a curb or jogging to catch the bus on Monday.

Cindy helped me take a big step back, slow down, and address the assymetries that had been causing my pain. As a result, while there's still work to do, I am in much so much less pain. I'm beyond grateful.

While everyone has different needs, my point is that Cindy is an expert at developing a program that's right for you. Then she has the humor, zest, and care to get you to love the process. Thank you, Cindy!

Cindy is an accommodating and understanding personal trainer and a great person. She was my personal trainer for a short period of time but I must say she has set the bar quite high for any personal trainer I might get in the future. She really tried understanding me as a person physically and mentally before designing a training program that I would get the most out of. I would definitely recommend her to any and everyone. If I ever moved back to the Oakland/Berkeley area, I would love to train with her again. She is just awesome. Thank you Cindy for everything :)

Cindy Lee is a boss personal trainer. I had 4 really incredible sessions with her and after each one, I felt empowered and strong. Cindy doesn't just coach, she teaches. I learned so much from her in such a short amount of time. For me personally, as a woman it's a bit intimidating in the weight section of the gym. However, I learned enough from Cindy to feel confident and prepared to lift weights in a gym on my own. Each session was tailored to my ability, yet challenging. She is highly focused on form and knows a lot about anatomy and nutrition. The only reason I'm not still going is because money's tight. But it was seriously worth it to learn knew skills and motivate me to get moving again. You will not regret signing up with Cindy. And I can't wait to sign up again.

Cindy is helpful, knowledgeable, understanding, and experienced.

I am a rock climber with no experience in strength training or working out. After plateauing and getting injured, I made an appointment to see Cindy a month ago. She was highly recommended by my friends and she is also well known in the Bay Area for getting people strong! Before we started our session, she asked pertinent questions regarding my injuries, routines, and experience and immediately and insightfully pointed out major weaknesses, tight points, and holes in my general fitness routine.

Cindy guided me through some exercises and lessons on dead lifting techniques, lunges, hip stretches that I can incorporated into my regular routine. She concisely, professionally explained, instructed, and demonstrated my set of exercises. She quickly made modifications that accommodated my physical limitations and my limited experience which I found extremely helpful. After the workout session, I was sore for three days! Since then, I have since added those lessons to my toolbox and I feel better with greater mobility and developing over neglected supporting and stabilizing muscle groups.

I look forward to training here again soon.

Had my first session with Cindy. She is incredibly good at what she does! She is very knowledgeable and can convey that knowledge in a way that’s easy to understand. Not only does she tell you what to do correctly, but why you need to do it that way as well. She was attentive to my needs and could recognize my limitations and tailored the session to me. She recognized the type of motivation that was good for me and pushed me hard. I left the gym with one of the best workouts I have ever had and left with the tools I need when I work out solo. I can’t wait for our next session! And for me to be looking forward to working out, is saying something!

I’m a yoga instructor who has been practicing Yoga forever! I came to Cindy looking to gain strength and more control of my body. I shopped around for a personal trainer before coming to Cindy and glad I made the right choice picking her as my trainer! Not only is she knowledgable and passionate what she does, but she also makes training engaging which makes me look forward to our sessions even more! Her personality is fun, energetic, down to earth and just over all hilarious!

I’ve learned how important it is to have a strong foundation in order to further my fitness down the road. If you love dogs, sometimes she incorporates her super smart dog, Whisky, into the workouts with you! She's soooo cute! If you like learning, fulfilling your fitness potential, or maybe want to learn how to be self sufficient down the road…definitely see Cindy! The price is worth it!

Cindy is great! She is extremely qualified, has an excellent personality, and is patient with you if you are getting back into working out or just starting. She makes training so comfortable you feel like you are with a good friend more than just another client. She knows when you need to be pushed and when you need a rest. She listens to what your goals are and helps design a plan to make you meet those goals. Also, If you like pets, her dog Whisky is the best and loves to play.

I've been working with Cindy since February of this year and I am SO glad I found her.

Cindy has taken the time to understand where I am physically and gradually help me build strength and endurance. Cindy continually challenges me while at the same time not pushed me to a point where I leave feeling defeated. I had no idea how strong I could be until I started working with her.

Cindy has kept me accountable and encouraged me in my journey to build healthy behavior patterns. For me, this investment is about building a solid foundation to gain the confidence to put in the work during my sessions with Cindy and when I am in the gym on my own.

Cindy is down to earth, approachable and has a great sense of humor. She creates a judgement free environment which I look forward to every training session. I know I will be challenged, learn something and laugh in between.

Fun perk - Whiskey her dog. She's always there to support (see picture).
