Horrible parking, again..HORRIBLE Parking. The staff is only interested to talk to you to either sign you up initially or sell you training packages which are overpriced and the "trainer" is some kid who maybe just watched videos on how to use the machines and teach people half way.

City Sports is a complete scam. I tried to cancel my personal training membership, and instead of helping me, they refused and demanded I pay a ridiculous fee. A worker even promised me they’d call to “freeze” my account — guess what? No call, no follow-up, nothing. Just lies.

They trick people into signing contracts and then trap you when you try to get out. Absolutely terrible customer service, zero honesty, and no accountability. Save yourself the headache and stay far away from this place

Been a member for 3+ years. This is a cleane and well equipped club facility. The staffs are always friendly and professional. I just want to mention the young man at the front desk - Victor is a 100% professional and pleasant to deal with. We brought an issue (someone made a mess in the sauna) to his attention, he was able to turn the unpleasant situation into an excellent customer service experience by listening and taking care of of the issue with patience and professionalism! Kudos to Victor!

They messed up my 3 day trial. The second day, the front desk told me I couldn’t continue the trial because a manager wasn’t there even though it should’ve been set up the day prior. I ended up paying for a day pass, which was fine, but the company communication seems disorganized. Other than that, the facilities are clean and they have all the equipment you need.

Went there today at 9:30am with a free pass that I signed up for yesterday. Was told by who I assume is Victor after reading all these reviews that I need to have it activated and an appointment. Never ever have I heard of this. What a ridiculous, arbitrary rule. I explained that I tried to call yesterday but no one answered the phone. I let it ring for over a minute. He just shrugged his shoulders. I told the guy “Fine, can I just walk around and check everything out?” He scoffed and said, “I can get someone to give you a tour. I’m not going to just let you walk around and do your own thing.” Are you serious? Why would you talk to someone that way? This guy has the ugliest personality and in NO WAY should be manning the front desk. The guy who showed me around was really nice, I think his name was Quincy? I read the reviews and decided to see myself, and I guess I saw. It’s too bad because it’s a pretty nice gym.

Victor, at City Sports Club, Concord had absurd behavior yesterday when we visited. We walked in with a free guest pass and one person with a memebership. He said sorry u need an appointment and 24 hours of validation. Fair valid, he got us to talk to a sales manager and he said that he’s going to ask for $20 for a day pass. After much talking, we realized the guest pass we signed up for online never mentioned 24 hours of waiting for activation in the email and we just requested calmly that if we could let us go this time and later reduce one day. Rather, he said give me $10 cash and I will let you in. This is basically like I will let you in for free but make money under the table. This trigged more so all of us as in my friends that we just want to work out together and Victor was being district for no reason. More so, he said you don’t tell me how to job after clearly asking money under the table is doing his job well. We told him to talk to us properly and left. He also said we our a private business and I can tell you whatever. I feel it’s absurd how you hire someone like that and not just have a human approach to someone just trying to work out with friends and willing to pay. I don’t appreciate my friends being treated that way.

I had a terrible experience with City Sport Gym. When I signed up, the staff told me I only needed to pay the first and last month—no mention of an annual fee. But now they’ve charged me one anyway.

Worse, they seem to be offering side deals that aren’t part of the official terms. It feels shady and dishonest.

When I tried to cancel my subscription, the manager told me it was done, but it turns out it wasn’t. The employee who was supposed to process it even told me to wait because he wanted to finish his lunch first. Totally unprofessional.

This place clearly doesn’t value honesty or customer service. I do not recommend joining

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred tonight at your establishment around 10:10pm tonight May 20 2025. There was an Asian male staff member at the front desk who behaved in an unprofessional and disrespectful manner toward me in front of my two friends. His tone and attitude were inappropriate, and it seemed as though he was trying to impress the woman he was speaking with by acting rudely and showing off.

This behavior is unacceptable, especially in a place where customers expect a respectful and welcoming environment. I chose to pay $50—a premium price—because I believed your establishment offered a high standard of service. Unfortunately, this individual's conduct reflected the opposite: unprofessionalism, disrespect, and a lack of courtesy.

I hope you take this matter seriously and address it appropriately. Incidents like this damage the reputation of your business and make customers feel undervalued.

I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the recent issue I encountered in attempting to claim my free pass, which I believe I am entitled to based on your stated terms and conditions.

Despite following the required steps and meeting all the eligibility criteria outlined in your promotion, I was denied the free pass without a clear explanation. This not only contradicts the terms advertised but also reflects poorly on the transparency and fairness of your service.

This gym is clean, the staff is personable, professional and prompt, no matter your fitness level or motivations, it is a great place to enjoy a workout.

Russel was the absolute best! He was called upon to help my mom and I while he was there to simply have a work out. He had no problem helping us ON HIS DAY OFF! We got a whole tour with explanation of the classes available and all the amenities. It felt comfortable and the gym was very clean. My mom and I were instantly hooked. We looked at other gyms but we were not offered the same comfort and kindness. Thank you, Russel, we are so excited to be long-term members!

It is best not to sign up, because you might find yourself trapped in a difficult-to-break contract. If you need to cancel, email or through your credit card company is the best and maybe only way that I could find so far. The amenities are fine but overall not worth the money, nor the tight contract for my usage.

Service ⭐️ 1/5. When trying to cancel, they made me wait the whole day for the manager who never arrived, or call a number that didn’t pickup/return calls.

Personal training schedules and experience ⭐️ 1/5. Would not recommend, as they’re not vastly experienced and the advice given could simply be attained from making gym friends and online research.

We went to city club and were sold pre-paid two-month contract that appeared a yearly commitment after we got charged extras and asked to get a copy of contract. Unfortunately, this review is not a good one. I have been a member with City Sports in Concord since before the pandemic. When we returned after the pandemic, everything seemed great. Regular maintenance on the pool and hot tub. Friendly staff. They were professional and kept busy. Fast forward to now, and I don't remember the last time the pool and hot tub were cleaned - and trust me if you see both you'll understand. The hot tub is well over the safe temperature. It's been ranging from 104 to 108! 108! I got both of my feet in and had to get out. Plus the inside of the hot tub is absolutely gross. When I've spoken to staff about my concerns, they brushed me off. Not to mention, the condition of the floors in the pool and locker room areas. As for staff and professionalism....one employee does nothing but throw a basketball up in the air while sitting at his desk. And today, while in the pool another employee (and his girlfriend) were making out at his desk. And then there's the swim instructors (contracted), playing in the swim lane they have closed to teach swim lessons. No they were not teaching at the time. From the time I was there until I left, the swim instructors (two young guys), were playing as if they were two kids playing in a public pool! What's going on here??? Who is the manager? Is there a manager there to make sure these kids are actually doing their job? Its insane! And sadly, this is all I have nearest to where I live. I would really like to see this club get back to the condition it was in when I first joined. They need a professional manager, someone who's not a nose-picker, to come in a get things in order.

Signed up for a 3 day pass to try the gym. Got the pass in the email. Showed up at the gym and was denied access saying “I had a gym membership with them 8 years ago in a different state, so I cannot try this gym out.”

The Assistant GM, CeCe is wonderful. She was polite and thoughtful. Her smile and demeanor made it very easy to connect and with zero hesitation, become a member. She gave me a thorough tour, discussed ways to get the most from being a member, and let me know additional services for swim lessons are available for my son. Tried to cancel the guest option on my membership and was told that they could not do it that I had to talk directly to the manager. Then when I told him I wanted to cancel my whole membership then magically said they could do it. I decided for being lied to that I was still going to cancel my membership. I spoke to the manager who was going to refund me my last month so that I didn't have to go back there and deal with them so he decided to refund me an amount that he decided to make up in his head different than my monthly dues... They want to make it as hard as possible to try to cancel or change anything but as easy as possible to take more of your money would not recommend going here if you value your money... I signed up two weeks ago and I put my card on file to be charged on January 2nd since I was on vocation and I wasn’t using the gym. the reason I signed up because they had promotion long story short I went to the gym on 3rd of the month I was told your membership is cancelled because your card didn’t go through. They didn’t called text or email to let me know the card didn’t go through and canceled my membership. If I wanna cancel the membership I will have to let them know 30 days in advance but they canceled my membership because of promotion and didn’t even text or email me. DONT GO THERE, GO TO UFC!

I like that it’s a large gym, and there’s plenty of machines and equipment. I always visit this gym when I’m home for break. But a huge difference I notice between this place and LA fitness branches is the customer service. Whenever I visit any LA fitness branch there’s always someone at the desk, and someone to greet you. But with City Sports if there is someone at the desk, 9/10 they refuse to even smile or show some basic customer service. That’s my only complaint.

I recently had a very disappointing and concerning experience at city sport which led to the cancellation of my membership. The manager of the gym displayed highly unprofessional behavior towards me. He accused me of contacting his girlfriend, an allegation that is completely untrue and baseless. Despite my attempts to clarify the situation and ask for a reason for these accusations, he remained aggressive and used inappropriate language.
Moreover, the situation escalated to a point where the manager threatened me physically and proceeded to cancel my membership without any valid reason. He also spread false information about me to other gym members, further damaging my reputation and causing distress.
This experience has been very unsettling, and it highlights a severe lack of professionalism and proper management at this facility. I would caution others to consider this incident before deciding to go to city sport . It's important for a gym to not only offer good facilities but also to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all its members. Manger name “ Nico “

the worst customer service, I was with an instructor named Angel, who told me that I could enter today for my free day pass, so I bought all my things for admission, but at the time of admission the General Manager in the MOST rude way possible he let me know that the pass to visit the Gym was only activated until tomorrow. The truth is, if the customer service is so TERRIBLE, I don't want to imagine the services after being associated. The instructors must give you reliable information from the beginning, the managers must be kind to people and avoid wasting your time. I DO NOT recommend this place.

Sales rep JT lied to us (the older guy wearing a gold chain) and said that the vip guest pass only works a day after redeems and wouldn’t let us in despite the fact that we have done the vip guest pass before and have had no issue. It’s a solid gym and value. Equipment is generally in good shape and the area clean. Like many moderately priced gym it will get busy and miss on some of the details but I’m happy with what I’m paying for.

Personal training has been great for me and Brian is a fantastic trainer. I’ve had a few different trainers at other locations but he’s been top notch.

The manager NICO lack both soft & hard skills to function as a manager. Throughout my time at City Sports, I was enrolled in Personal Training & he did so many mistakes in terms of billing & communicating the contract expectations. When I reached out to him due to billing discrepancies, he had the audacity to rather blame & yell at me. Also, on one instance he yelled “Get the hell out of here” when I was walking through the door because I asked him a simple question about my next billing date. At that point, I decided to cancel both my personal training as well as the Gym membership as I absolutely don’t feel safe coming to a place where the staff is so aggressive and inhuman.

"You need to get out of here"

I got a VIP guest pass from an active member and went to this location on 6/20. Whoever on the late shift at 9pm provided me horrible service. I got there and I was told the code needed to be activated before use. I know it may take him a bit time and explaining to do because I was trying to see if there's anyway I can get in using the pass so I don't waste my 30 minutes commute there. He showed no patience, no leniency, and no empathy at all. He just barely explained their sales rep isn't here and told me I "need to get out of here", embarrassing me in front of everyone as if I've done something wrong trying to use my guest pass?? I drove 30 minutes to the gym and I took him less than 10 minutes of time while I was there. I was being respectful the entire time my 10 minutes there but "You need to get out of here" is all I got.

Just started going to this gym. Joined especially for the indoor pool. The only downside, so far, the swimming lessons they offer an outside company to take one full lane. The pool only has 3 lanes to begin with. You could be swimming, when suddenly, the outside school will come in, post the lane closed, and you may have to get out if the other lanes are taken. It is silly for such a small pool.

This gym is okay. I mostly go for strength training and that area is well equipped and functional.

Their cardio machines tend be broken a lot. Sometimes I have to try 3 different treadmills before finding one that works. Not great.

The women’s bathroom is always pretty messy and smells awful. Not great.

Staff at the front desk do not greet anyone. I kinda miss this part from other gyms. There’s something about being greeted.

I wished I was read all reviews about this horrible sport center. Now I know what ever people say are true even they are worse. I am too disappointed about this center, they only want your money and don’t care about other things. I got contract with them for a year and they changed manager 3 times during 4 months. Then I got medical condition to not doing exercise for while what my doctor sent a letter to them which is not allowed me to continue my training, but they did not accept my doctor letter and still charging me even I couldn’t go to gym. They are only thinking about money not humanity. No respect.

My friend and his friend were kicked out of here for not wanting to buy a full membership. My friend has a full membership w guest pass privilege...the sales associate said they couldn't enter or use bc she felt like it. Corporate responded 1mo later and the VP GM of the site apologized, offered free passes and then disappeared and Corp never did anything

Soooooo.....this gym is very convenient for me and I wish it was cleaner so I could actually use the pool, hot tub, sauna, showers. I usually work out in the early morning between 5-8. I would expect it to be clean since it's the start of the day. Women go into the sauna fully clothed and with shoes all over the benches. Saw a guy by the pool rinsing off but had no shame in digging his hand in his shorts and touch everything. The floors are gross around the pool. Hair, grime all over the floors and even in the showers. The hit tub looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Treadmills could be better. The channels they offer to watch are not good. For example, ESPN console tournament was available but not the world cup. I used to go to Fitness 19 when I lived in Walnut Creek, and really miss it. For the price and annual fee, I expect it to at least be clean.

On more than one occasion I have witnessed gym users strip down out of sweaty gym clothes just jump into the jacuzzi without showering.

My partner has also reported that women regularly sit in the sauna fully clothed wearing street shoes and placing them on the benches. It's unhygienic and disgusting.

There are no employees monitoring the pool/sauna area and my reports to management have fallen on deaf ears.

Poor management. Woefully inept customer service. They make cancelling an onerous ordeal, and then play collection agent on you when the billing date cycles. Brenda in Concord, CA handled my son's cancellation poorly hassling him over $34.99 incessantly when he couldn't go through all their steps to cancel in time before the billing date.

As such, I'm cancelling my membership as well.

If signing up online BEWARE of “annual fee”
What kind of business has an annual fee on top of monthly fee!! That’s a scam business model not a business that’s trying to be efficient. Once I tried to cancel membership they did nothing to work with me. I couldn’t cancel over phone, in the app or when I go and workout in the morning. I had to wait for their lazy manager who doesn’t even come in until 9. Equipment is new but low end plastic. only one full basketball court which they let some random dude teach lessons every morning so there’s always some players dribbling up and down the side of court constantly in the way. I could go on and on but I’m done with with joke of a “business”

I love this gym. It got everything I need . It has childcare and my daughter loves to go.
Sofia is really nice taking care of the kids.
Machines are great and group fitness classes are okay but not too much variation. Bathrooms are clean and lockers are great. They have sauna and pool too.

They have everything you need here AND a pool! I have been looking for a place with one. When I go it is not very crowded, but I guess it gets crowded later in the evening. The parking gets impossible on the weekends, and later in the day. The staff here is friendly, and the facilities are clean.

Before this gym was very good with customer service right now is very poor customer service I been complaining over a month about the swimming pool water is to cold nobody wants to hear anything I been telling several employees and sounds like nobody know what is going on I ask this Monday when the swimming pool will be fix and the person who I ask he tells will fix on today Thursday October 15 I call to confirm if the pool is fix and the person who answer my phone calls said maybe next week I hate all this lies because I keep paying my bill for something I can't really use like before because in 15 minutes I need to step out from the pool because is freezing can the gym able to hire someone who knows how to handle a business

Pro Tip! Sign up at the beginning of the month since you have to pay for the entire month anyway. I just told a bunch of people on my Instagram.

The 3 star is for the fact that Isabelle activated my free membership the other day. But didn’t even bother to show me anything at the gym. I had no idea where certain machines were. It would’ve been nice to have given a short tour and gotten prepped on the rules of the gyms especially since Covid. But all she cared was about selling me a membership. She told me to see her after I was done with my workout. I didn’t bother. Had she had been nicer to me I might have signed up through her.

Also cleaning supplies it’s hard to fine. Some people hog the spray bottles.

Overall, I like that it’s a very big gym. I like that they have a swimming pool. The basketball court is now closed due to Covid but it’s nice to half. Plus, it’s not 24 hour fitness. I have a grudge over 24 hour fitness, just kidding.

Lots of maintenance issues. Antibacterial stations are frequently empty, equipment needs tweaking and maintenance, and facilities generally appear not well maintained. On the positive side, they do have plenty of equipment and i rarely need to wait for my turn.

The gym has a lot of amenities pool,gym basketball court and sauna. Also, the gym isn't crowded like other gyms so you can actually use their equipment. The only downside are the operating hours which is why I don't give them a 5 star

Awesome gym! the "upsell" is brutal. I don't live in Concord, but working in the area for 6 months. Signed up for the full deal because I was warned that I might lose the locked in rate if I "waited 1 more minute". I locked in the rate, but the pressure to set a free personal training session was intense. I love working with a trainer, but #1 - it's not inexpensive. #2 I have one in my home city. I was looking for a place to work out when I am in Concord for work. City Sports nails that. The training director was great. Had a great experience at the initial "free" start up. 25 minute solid work out. Great experience until the hard press to buy 24 or 36 sessions. I agreed to sign up as they are expanding. Until I was NOT allowed to kick the start date out a month because of travel and work. What? I felt like i was in the finance department to buy or lease a car. Pretty much shamed if I didn't sign up for the "extended warranty" because your new car it too sophisticated! Same drill here. I was fitness shamed because she didn't think I could handle working out or swimming on my own. The actual trainer I would have worked with was awesome. The director was until I said I had to wait to start any personal training until July. SHE said NOT possible in the system. OK. I said, thanks but no thanks. Nice went to ugly and the director turned her back to me and wouldn't give me the time of day. Loss of revenue to the club. I will continue to work out there, but hire training elsewhere.
Great club. Frustrated with the high pressure sales job. Same experience at intake. All I wanted to do was sign up. Nope. Had to be "oriented" to the City Sports way of life. All great. Membership rep was great and polite. On her cell phone the entire time. Didn't listen to what my family needed. Also botched all of my info about name, address, etc. However, she didn't get my CC number wrong.

PSA! If you have Kaiser, please sign up through them (Active & Fit). The monthly fee is $25 and you can use OTHER gyms and not limited to just City Sports. If you ever have to cancel, it's not a headache and you won't be continually charged/billed even after canceling. I know a lot of people have been complaining about being charged even after canceling so sign up via Kaiser if you're a member!
