I joined this gym over a week ago, after coming from another gym. Sign up was easy Danny and Marcus were very helpful. The place is very clean. Bathroom immaculate. People are generally nice when sharing the pool. Love being able to swim in an all enclosed environment. Machines are pretty new and working. Took a palates class and instructor is very knowledgeable. 5 stars for me.

I really wanted to like this gym, and the facility itself is fine, but I would strongly caution anyone against signing up for personal training here because of how difficult and expensive the cancellation process was for me.
I originally asked them to set my personal training contract to cancel automatically at the end of the term. What I didn’t realize is that after the contract ended it rolled over to a month-to-month agreement, and I kept getting billed without being clearly told that. By the time I noticed, I had already accumulated a lot of unused sessions.
From there, it took five in-person attempts with the same manager that handles personal training accounts to finally get my training cancelled. The manager doesn’t allow walk-ins, so my first attempt ended with being told to make an appointment. At the next visit, the manager gave me two options:
cancel and forfeit all the sessions I had already paid for, or keep using the essions and try to cancel later. I had a couple dozen sessions banked, so I chose to use them and then cancel.
For my third attempt, I went in four days before my next renewal date, only to be told they “couldn’t cancel” because my card had already been charged (apparently they bill 5–7 days before the renewal date). So I had to pay for another month of sessions, use them up, and try again. Otherwise I would again "forfeit" sessions I had already paid for.
On my fourth attempt, I came in at least 10 days before the next charge. The same manager told me he could and would cancel and that I would receive an email when the system tried to charge my card. I never got an email or a printed confirmation. Instead, on the next billing date, I saw another personal training charge hit my account.
That led to my fifth visit. By this point the manager clearly recognized me. After having me wait in the lounge yet again, he rather abruptly handed me a printed cancellation notice. Mind you, every scheduled "appointment" resulted in me having to wait 15 to 30 minutes in the lounge area. 3 of those 5 attempts o had to nudge the front desk to get the manager up and adhere to the appointment. I’m hoping this is finally the end of it, but only time will tell. In total, this confusing and drawn-out process cost me several thousand dollars more than I had originally planned to spend on training.
The gym itself is decent, but based on my experience I cannot recommend signing up for personal training here. If you do, be extremely careful about how cancellation works, and get every promise in writing with immediate confirmation.

Hey City sports I am a long time member of your gym. I am writing to report a deeply disturbing incident I witnessed recently at your location.

While checking in, I observed a female member with a strong Russian accent verbally attacking your general manager along with the front desk employees. This employee was simply doing his job by politely asking her to brighten her phone screen in order to check in. In response, she became aggressively disrespectful and even went as far as using a racial slur the N-word toward him.

During this confrontation, she also made the comment, “You have to many rules, this is California,” as if respecting basic policy was optional. This added to the hostility and lack of respect shown toward both the staff member and the environment.

As a married woman and a member of this community, I was appalled and embarrassed to witness such hateful behavior. No one should ever be subjected to that kind of treatment, especially while simply performing their duties. What makes this even more troubling is that this specific member is already known around town for treating people like dirt this isn’t an isolated incident.

I strongly urge the management to take swift action to address this behavior. Whether by enforcing a strict code of conduct or taking disciplinary action, it is critical that your staff feel protected and respected. This member’s actions were not only offensive and racist, but they also created a hostile environment for everyone present.

Please ensure your employees know that their dignity and well-being are valued and that those of us who respect this shared space expect more from the gym community.

Thank you for your time and attention.

I recently joined this gym, but unfortunately my experience with an employee named Marcus was extremely negative. From the beginning he made me uncomfortable with his strange, judgmental looks. I always ignored it and stayed polite — I come to the gym to work out, not to socialize. I’m married and I keep to myself.

One day there was a small issue scanning my membership code. A few minutes later, while I was already working out, Marcus approached me aggressively and lectured me about my “bad mood,” even threatening to revoke my membership. This was completely unprofessional, especially since I had done nothing wrong and simply behaved neutrally. English is not my first language, so his fast, aggressive tone made the situation even more stressful.

My daughter had also noticed his unprofessional behavior when she signed up at the same gym. Later I saw other reviews mentioning the same employee.

Because of this incident, I canceled my membership. Staff at the front desk were also unpleasant when I tried to cancel. I do not want to pay for a gym that allows employees to intimidate or lecture customers for not smiling at them. People come to work out — not to please staff.

Management should seriously look into Marcus’s behavior. He is harming the reputation of this gym. If not for him, I would have continued my membership.

The gym is clean and has plenty of equipment. Staff are very friendly and helpful until you actually need help from them. My review would be a 5 but my recent experience with them has left me wanting to withdraw my membership completely. I've been working with an excellent trainer named Anaya for a few weeks but found out she was moving to LA about 2 weeks ago. I was assured by the training manager that would be grandfathered in with another female trainer on 5/7. The new trainer reached out to me initially on 5/8 but have yet to respond to my texts for assistance to schedule my first session. I'm also unable to schedule my training session on the app as I have been assigned to a brand new trainer
that has not been fully trained, hence the need to grandfather me in with a more seasoned trainer. I have also reached out on 5/16 and was told again by Eman that they would work on Grandfathering me in and to contact my new trainer directly to schedule since they dont show up on my a app. The new trainer has still not responded so I called this morning and was told the manager would call me back around 9 am. of course I didn't get a call back. l just spoke to someone at the gym after my workout and was told there are no notes on my record for a new grandfathered trainer or a request for anyone to call me back. They made me an appt to have Eman call me back tomorrow afternoon. Let's hope I get some kind of resolution soon!

Update 10/20 from 1 to 4.5 stars but there's no 1/2 option. It's been over 5 months training with my new trainer Liberty and today is my last session with her. She's an an excellent trainer and is always smiling when I see her! She's helped me to enjoy working out and given me the skills to continue on my own. She's also helped me lower my body fat and BMI. I'm so grateful that she helped me lower my A1C and I no longer have to take insulin on a daily basis. My tolerance for cardio activities like pickleball is so much better compared to my pre-exercise days. Thank you Liberty! Their instructors are great with all of the different classes. The gym is always clean when I come in. Their customer service has improved and they no longer have male staff clean the women's locker room without proper verbal announcements. The missing half star is for their sales staff being a little too pushy. I don't refer friends and family in by themselves because my sister felted pressured when she tried to use her referral pass. There's no issue if you add your guest to your account and come in with them. It would be great if they had a few pickleball courts! Overall, it's a good clean gym!

Marcus and his team are great. The low reviews and false accusations are stemming from insecurities from the ones writing it. Have a conversation with him and you will see how great he is. He makes sure you are taken care of as well as the club and your time in there. He says hi to everyone, checks in and makes sure everyone has everything they need. His team loves him and he works hard . 10/10 recommend this Elk Grove club as well as their staffs

first of all, shoutout to the south asian guy working the front desk. helped me resolve some issues with zero hesitation.

the other one-star reviews about pushy salesman are similar to the experience i had. i thought i was going to be able to use the 3-day free pass with no strings attached. WRONG. signed up for a membership which i later found out was incredibly expensive, even though i was told by a salesman that it was the cheapest option available.

save yourself the hassle and sign up online. or just don’t waste your money and find a cheaper option.

Dear City Sports Club Management Team, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the unprofessional and unacceptable behavior of a sales representative, Marcus B., at your Elk Grove, CA location. My recent experience with him was extremely disappointing, and based on public feedback, this appears to be part of a larger pattern at this facility. When I visited the gym, I was subjected to a pushy and dismissive sales approach. Marcus insisted that I sit through a sales pitch just to obtain a guest pass, and when I declined to sign up immediately, his demeanor became rude and unprofessional. Instead of being welcomed as a potential new member, I was left feeling pressured, disrespected, and unwelcome. Unfortunately, my experience aligns with many other customer reviews already posted online: “Come here if you want to waste your time. I signed up to test the gym out but to make a free ‘guest pass’ the salesman needs to have a seat with you. What they try to do is sell you on signing up for a membership… Most gyms will have you checked in at 2 minutes with a guest pass. Come here if you want to waste your time.” “Don't waste your time, came in thinking I had found myself a new gym but the General Manager has some kind of roid rage issues going on. Extremely rude and unprofessional, not welcoming at all and had this passive aggressive attitude. Train your employees for Christ sake.” “Awful experience. Guest pass not honored, equipment not up to par. Sales team was very rude and were pressuring to get membership despite multiple refusals.” “Very rude staff and do not value their customers. Had a bad experience.” “DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! The sales people are nowhere to be found, are extremely rude and pushy and did not honor my guest pass after 1st day because I did not get membership on 1st day.” It is clear that this location has developed a reputation for poor customer service, aggressive sales tactics, and lack of professionalism. Shame on City Sports Club for allowing these practices to continue without accountability. I strongly urge you to address these ongoing issues by reviewing your sales policies, providing proper customer service training, and taking corrective action with employees such as Marcus B. who are damaging your company’s reputation. I expect a timely response outlining how this matter will be resolved.

The sales person was being very pushy and when he didn’t get his commission when I didn’t sign up he got frustrated and went to go sit down next to his staff. I asked if I could do it online and he proceeded to say “why would you break my heart” like what?! He was also saying “bro” while we were having a full on conversation. Where’s the professionalism? Nah wouldn’t recommend it here. Save your money and go somewhere else :)

I got the day pass online because I wanted to try out this gym, did my research seemed like a good gym and decided to get a guest pass to try it out and see how it is. Finally went in today and when it was time to check in I scanned my guest pass and right away the manager pulled me to his desk to just activate my pass and he was nice but then started asking unnecessary questions. All I wanted was to simply get a tour and workout and I just felt like it was so unnecessary for all those questions I was getting asked. Especially bc I wanted to get straight to working out. So finally I get my workout in and i thought the gym was pretty cool but obviously I was just exploring my options and was not thinking of signing up today, so when I’m heading out about to exit the gym while I had my AirPods on all I hear is “excuse me excuse me” so dramatically make it seem almost as if I snuck in or something and I turn around and it was one of the employees stopping me. I was genuinely confused? Then she proceeds to tell me that the manager that was talking to me earlier just had to verify that my guest pass was activated? I literally told her that he had activated already and she kept saying the same thing. that really upset me because he had already activated my pass. I was just standing there waiting and all the employees were just staring and she dramatically calls over the manger from his desk to come to the front. So then he comes up and starts asking how my workout was and what I ended up working out and then starts telling me AGAIN about the deal they have for Father’s Day and just trying to talk up the promotion which I understand that’s their job to promote but what bothered me was the way I got stopped and all the pushy questions. I simply just wanted to try out the gym. If I wanted to sign up I would’ve let them know on my own. After this experience it made me not even want to go back or sign up. I know that they probably get bonuses for getting people to sign up for the membership but it’s too much they are way too pushy about it to the point where it feels uncomfortable. Are people not allowed to just try out the gym in peace especially when they offer that pass?

They don’t have a sauna. This was the reason we joined the gym when it first opened - the lead sales guy said they were working on permits.

Also, they often don’t change the water filters in time so the light turns red and stays red for weeks, gross.

It’s a very basic gym otherwise.

Tripods and cameras everywhere. Inconsiderate " influencers" pointing cameras everywhere. Every single day i have to tell someone i do not want to be recorded or in there video. A friend of mine, female, was just yelled at by a guy for walking in front of his camera while he was recording. Gym staff and managers do nothing about it and if anything they are buddies with some of these people. The gym locker rooms are always dirty now, you can tell this was a gym that was nice and clean when it opened and has slowly gone downhill. Big groups of teenagers with bags bigger then them always congregating around equipment. Completely blocking common walkways with bags, themselves, or cameras with zero regard to anyone else. Don't sign up at this place, because it's not going to change with the staff running it.

Gym is nice, equipment is new. Only issues I have is the cleanliness. I get that members will leave their trash everywhere and won’t clean up after themselves but the problem I have is with the restrooms. It seems like as each week passes, the restrooms get dirtier and dirtier. There’s gunk and dirt on the floor, there’s always at least 1 sink clogged up, and there’s been times when they don’t have paper towels to wipe your hands.

The main reason I took the time to write this review is because I just came out of the men’s restroom today after trying to wash my hands and literally every sink had no soap. This is the 3rd time it’s happened and it’s so disgusting and unsanitary. Imagine someone just finished taking a piss or wiping their butt and there’s no soap to wash their hands. There’s a chance that person will go back to continue their workout and touch all of the gym equipment with their dirty hands. Good luck to you if on that same day the gym just so happens to be out of alcohol wipes which also happens occasionally. I’ve told the staff the first time it happened and they were able to resolve the issue, but the past 2 times where all 6 sinks were out of soap, there was no staff at the front desk and everyone else was busy helping other people sign up with their membership or something like that.

Regardless, I feel like whoever is in charge of maintaining the restrooms should be periodically checking all the sinks to make sure the soap is refilled regularly so that something like this doesn’t happen in the first place. The fact that all 6 sinks are out of soap is just plain negligence. I’m not sure how often they clean the bathrooms but they have to do it more often.

He cancelled her account and not my account and when I contacted HR about it, all they told me was there was no notations made on the account so they can’t revert back any charges. I would be very careful getting a trainer here. I wanted a trainer to help me focus on working out, set goals for me, and encourage me through the process. In reality, the team of trainers are interchangeable with one goal in mind, “How to burn the most fat.” As someone with really low fat and struggle with body issues, I personally got discouraged to even talk with my trainers even after I said multiple times I’m not focusing on burning fat. It was a really hard mental struggle to even talk with the trainers that I just told them to stop contacting me. The trainer package comes with a sleuth of bonuses that my friends use a ton as muscle-heads but this gym’s trainers are not for average, low-weight people trying to just get a body. It’s about fine tuning your actual body to be in unhealthy ratios of muscle vs fat.

Hopefully someone who struggles with body issues reads this review and is very careful about ever doing anything other than working out here.

Agree with post about lack of management concern over needed repairs and maintenance, such as one of the electrical outlets in the womens locker that is not properly installed. Complained about shower backing up a few weeks ago and it still hasn't been fixed. There's still tape on ceiling tiles in shower stalls. Also of note is the obvious lack of accommodations for potential patrons with physical disabilities... the entrance doors are very difficult for a fully able-bodied person to open. I think it's due to how they pressurize the air flow. Seems they should install an automatic door opener as a reasonable accommodation.

Update 7/23: the issue with the pool temp has improved. still have yet to remove blue tape from ceiling above shower stalls and the outlet at one of the vanity counters is dangerously loose. Also, staff don't seem to be able to keep paper supplies properly in women's locker room restroom. For an entire week the replacement paper towel roll was left in the counter, rather than installing it in the dispenser. Shower stalls are not cleaned out routinely--the same wadded paper towel has been in the corner of one of the stalls for 3 days now . Lowered star rating due to decline in cleanliness

My family goes here and I'm trying the place out with them for now. I have a week to check it out as I'm currently under a contract with another gym. I mainly lift and swim for my daily routine and I've had the displeasure of trying different gyms before.

This place has a very high-end contemporary theme going on - which is pretty few in the area. Given how the gyms here fare, I don't think this branch will stay in this kind of state much for long. It seems plenty crowded this month due to promos, but I'm curious to see the volume after a year or so once they go back to the normal price for memberships.

Cleanliness: 3/5

The place looks brand-spanking-new and seems clean, but I don't see people nor staff cleaning the equipment before or after use - which is fine I suppose, given that us Americans rarely account for others... the same excuse can't be said for staff though.

Seeing the other reviews, it's very concerning that people are saying they don't care much for facility maintenance because it shows. There's gunk on the drinking fountains and the men's urinal does smell. It's just gross.

Amenities 1/5

A good majority of the amenities in their website don't seem to be present here apart from the rather frigid indoor pool. There's 3-4 of each equipment available but the cable machines aren't placed all too well in terms of their proximity to the attachments - which are near impossible to get ahold of in the first place unless you're on that specific one that contains it.

I heard you can go to the other locations with your membership so it's not much of a downside if you're keen on going elsewhere... I guess.

Customer Service: 2/5

The lady at the front is downright inhospitable. She keeps hard mentioning my guest pass and seems judgy about it... not a single smile or greeting either. If there's an ongoing promo to rack up memberships this way and this is how people are being received, I don't think it's a good look and the lack of training shows.

The pool is cold to this day despite multiple complaints about it so the staff and management apparently don't listen to customers either that or maybe the pool isn't heated to begin with.

TLDR, would I go here?

For 50-or-so dollars per month and a $75 annual fee, you're mainly paying for the aesthetic. And while it beats CalFit's hours by a lot, the price sure looks fine but the same amenities just aren't there - if you don't swim you might as well go to 24-hr Fitness across the street if you mainly need a clean barebones weightlifting gym that's soon bound to be dirty. 🤷‍♂️

It's definitely hard to recommend if you're paying full price for their membership...

Joined a few days ago from another gym and I enjoy coming here since there aren't too many people around the time I like to come. A lot of natural light and a lot of parking which is nice. The locker room looks high end and was clean when I did my initial tour.
A few personal gripes: The cable machines have numbers that are already peeling off. I wish there were more lat pull down machines and I think it's inconvenient that there aren't separate attachments somewhere for these aside from having to take attachments from the cable machines. More wipe stations available would be convenient. I also didn't get an actual answer when I asked about how often the pool is cleaned which is a genuine concern for us women as this could result in UTIs.
Eager to see what this gym can become since I was told there are still some rooms currently unused/unfurnished.

The gym is nice and so is the pool but there is a problem with the pool. The first time I went to aqua aerobics the water was warm. Every time since then the water has been cold. I got sick from working out in the cold water. I have contacted the corporate office, complained to the manager of the club, and complained at the front desk. Unfortunately the pool continues to be cold. I plan to get in touch with Kaiser Silver and Fit to get them to pull my membership if the Club doesn’t rectify the problem. It is disappointing that such a nice club doesn’t value it’s customers.

The gym is nice and so is the pool but there's a problem with the water temperature. I'm an older retired guy with knee, shoulder and back issues, so I try to take aqua aerobics class 6 days per week to keep active. Over the past month the water is unpredictable (one day it's fine, the next it's cold as if the heater was turned off). Myself and others from the class have been leaving (skipping class lately) on cold water days, I don't want to get sick. I have spoken with the on duty managers and the persons at the front desk, they will listen to me but all I get is that corporate controls the temperature. All I'd like is a constant temperature, if it's going to remain cold I'll patronize the competition otherwise I'll remain as a customer, I'm just tired of wasting my time going in, suiting up, just to return home. As far as the actual class, the instructors are very good and I have been progressing with my health issues.

Some positives of this gym is it has a variety of cardio and weight training equipment, it’s kept clean very well, especially the bathrooms and the staff are friendly. However, there seems to be an issue with some maintenance of the facility which is likely an issue with the management here. For instance, the ongoing issue with the roof leaking water into the gym when it rains which started since November, the overdue need to replace the filters of the water fountains, and the vending machine being almost empty for a long time. It just seems like management does not care to maintain the upkeep of the gym. It does not feel right that members are paying about $40/month to deal with these kinds of issues.

Elk Grove City Sports Club is a well-designed, clean facility. They have friendly staff, knowledgeable trainers, and high-quality equipment. The Personal Training Manager, Deepak, has been a tremendous help setting up my personalized training program. He connects with me & forwards links to me of recovery stretch exercises when I injured myself. He often greets me, & motivates me before a workout or training sessions. He is very professional, ensuring that I am on the right path, checking on me via text, if there is a lapse in my training.
And my Personal Trainer, Vincent, brings a wealth of fitness knowledge and experience. Not only does he keep me motivated, but teaches me the correct form, how to perform new exercises and holds me accountable. Vincent has helped me reduce the risk of injury by teaching me the correct form and technique in every exercise. He is patient, empathetic, and has good communication skills. He also inspires me to achieve my fitness goals. He caters to me with a customized fitness plan that takes into account my fitness level, health status and fitment goals. Overall, joining this Gym has Improved my health, and has improved the quality of my life!

My old gym was overly crowded and getting chaotic. My first impression of City Sports was how clean it was and how well the layout of equipment was. I signed up, met with Deepak who did an overall assessment for me. I have been working out with my personal trainer Otis and am extremely happy with the program he’s developed for me. Deepak, Otis and all the staff at City Sports are outstanding and I highly recommend it.

I just signed up at City Sports on EG Florin/ Calvine. I was reluctant at first, because of some of the negative reviews. After visiting several other gyms in the area I toured City Sports and immediately signed up.
This gym is the cleanest of all the gyms I toured. Don't belive me? You can go check it out
Deepak did my sign up and assessment. After being away from the gym for several years due to multiple surgeries, Deepak took my history seriously and recommend the best personal trainer plan for me and my recovery.
I have been working out with Otis for a couple of weeks. Due to my surgeries, coming up with a workout plan was challenging but Otis has done a great job.
I'm glad City Sports opened here. It's a great gym, great price and great staff.

I love this gym! I was so happy when it finally opened as it is so convenient to where I live. The first day I walked in to sign up, I was met by Deepak who gave me a tour of the gym. He was very personable and spent a great deal of time with me explaining everything. He asked what my expectations were for myself, and developed a plan for me based on my goals. I instantly knew that this gym was what I had been looking for. Every day when I enter the gym, I am greeted by a very friendly staff. I joined City Sports in October. My first encounter was with Deepak who showed me around and gave me a complimentary training session. Deepak was very friendly and seemed interested in my goals asking questions about my nutrition, current workout regime and any ailments that I have. It was because of Deepak that I joined. Since then I have been training with Otis. Otis is very thorough and watches my every move closely ensuring that I am doing the exercises correctly to make the most out of my workout and not get injured. He is consistently pushing me and changing up my workouts. I am confident that training with Otis will get me to my goals. Deepak continues to check in with me to ensure that my workouts are going well. Vincent is also a great trainer. Love this staff.
If you are looking for a gym where the trainers actually care about getting you to your goals and want a gym that is clean and the staff is personable, then I would recommend City Sports. I definitely didn't get that at CalFit.

I initially enrolled my son in personal training at a cost of $300 monthly for six months, making it clear that the arrangement was for half a year. Upon noticing continued charges beyond this period, I approached the gym for clarification. Deepak, the manager of personal training, immediately referred to the contract (signed electronically on an iPad, with no physical copy provided), stating that failure to formally cancel would result in ongoing fees. The core concern was the unexpected billing, but Deepak's approach was notably dismissive and disrespectful. Moreover, he imposed a 30-day deadline for my 14-year-old son to complete 14 pending sessions, threatening forfeiture otherwise. Deepak also inappropriately discussed the matter with my son during his gym visit, criticizing my conduct. It's highly inappropriate and unprofessional for a staff member to involve a minor in such discussions. Further interactions with Deepak were marked by a patronizing tone, complicating my efforts to understand the contract details. Customer service roles demand the ability to manage situations calmly and with empathy, qualities that Deepak seemingly needs to develop. City Sports, I believe your team is capable of offering a higher standard of service.

I wanted to start improving myself by going to the gym and so I decided to go here and get the help of a personal trainer. My trainers name was Deepak, and they were very passive aggressive with me. He also gave backhanded compliments like when he commented that unlike himself, I am very tall but I am wasting my potential since people like him cannot change their height. Also on one of our sets he told me to use both sides of the cable machine since I was "taking too much space". The gym is supposed to be a place for people to better themselves and this was the furthest thing from that so I will now be going to planet fitness instead.

Been Going here since June of 2023, The open environment is nice and they have a lot of platforms for you to workout at. Lots of benches as well. I just found out today they dont have a sauna or steam room. They do a good job of not mentioning that when you sign up lol. They have lots of unused rooms in the gym that I hope they change into steam rooms or saunas. The benefit of having many platforms and benches doesnt outweigh the value of a sauna or steam room everyone can use. Honestly, my advice save your 39.99 or 49.99 and at Calfit ask them to match the price at 50$.

Stepan N has declined to give us phone number of memberships service or district manager’s contact information stating there’s no one above him.

MALE staff members need’s major customer service training. Myself and my 6 friends switched from cali fitness to city sports. Worst decision ever. Gym is new and nice. It’s the staff members itself. From telling people “ you should be glad i let you workout here” to straight up walking up to gym members harassing and threatening them. I witnessed a incident on Friday 9.15.23 noon by 3 male members of staff harassing man who was working out alone. Just left city sports club in Elk Grove, I met with Deepak at my original meeting and had a quick workout with him (25 minutes), (per your website you get a quick workout when meeting with the sales person) (I didn't realize all workouts are for this same time frame). I thought getting a personal trainer would help me gain some muscle. I was already in good cardio shape and do cardio 6 to 7 days a week. I met with personal trainers 5 times over 5 weeks, and all my workouts were 95% the same, I came on my own another 2 days each week. So I was paying someone $75.00 for 25 minutes for the exact same workout that I was doing on my own the other 2 days a week. Although I did additional weights, after working with the personal trainer and when working out on my own.
I never got a copy of the contract I signed on an ipad that I was told was going to be email to me. I asked about the contract on August 15th and was told by Deepak that he could not email the contract as it was against the rules as it had my address on the contract. When I questioned that response he told me he was going to email it to me, he said the system had a bug in it and that was why he couldn't email it to me, and that their server was encrypted. I next texted Deepak that I wanted out of my contract on August 24th. He said I would have to meet with Christen to change my program and that he was out of the office until Tuesday. I texted him on Saturday but no response, he said on Monday that he could print out the program but not change it and that I had to meet with Christen. So I met with Christen today, he gave me two choices: continue with the contract or pay half to get out of it, on what was left of a 6 month contract. Well they just charged my card yesterday, so I asked if they would credit that back and he said no he wasn't allowed to do that. I said that is totally unfair as I was trying to get out of it, and was told I couldn't until I spoke with him. I asked who else I could speak with and he said no one as he was in charge, I said he had to report to someone and he said he was not allowed to give out their name and that I could look up corporate on their website. Very shady business practices. Gym is nice, just don't get a personal trainer, I can work out on my own from an app and get a much better workout in.

Exceptional Experience at Elk Grove Club by Calvine - Thanks to Garrett!

I am delighted to share my experience at the Elk Grove Club by Calvine through this review. While I am not one to frequently write reviews, especially positive ones, I simply cannot refrain from acknowledging exceptional service and exceeding expectations. My recent interaction with a standout individual has compelled me to take the time to express my gratitude and admiration for their remarkable attributes.

The individual in question is Garrett, whose exceptional qualities have left an indelible impression on me. From the outset, I felt absolutely no pressure from him to consider joining, which was both refreshing and commendable. Garrett went above and beyond to guide my wife and me through a comprehensive tour of the entire club, offering valuable insights into peak hours, diverse programs, kids' facilities, warm-up areas, and more. His attention to detail was truly remarkable, as he patiently and comprehensively addressed every query I had.

What set Garrett apart was his willingness to assist us in evaluating membership options, leveraging his expertise to offer us what he believed were the most favorable rates. Remarkably, his calculations surpassed our initial estimations, underscoring his dedication to securing a favorable deal on our behalf. It is without a doubt that Garrett's contributions should not go unnoticed, and I wholeheartedly recommend that he be entrusted with a leadership role due to his instrumental role in fostering a positive and welcoming environment.

Garrett's affable nature and consistent gestures of kindness and greetings have undeniably contributed to the pleasant atmosphere at the club. His contagious positivity is nothing short of remarkable, creating an environment where members feel valued and engaged. His uplifting presence transcends the typical interactions, ensuring that no day can be less than exceptional with his presence around.

In closing, I urge anyone considering a visit to the Elk Grove on Calvine Club to seek out Garrett. His commitment to exceptional service, coupled with his genuine care for each member's experience, is truly unparalleled. Without reservation, I assure you that Garrett will cater to your needs with the utmost professionalism and warmth.

Warm regards,
Reggie

The facility deserves credit for having new equipment and above average cleanliness. However, it is about twice the price of 24 Hour Fitness, and personal training sessions bar members from using common equipment.
For example, when I was using one cable machine on a Friday evening, a trainer demanded I move, saying the space was reserved, and he needed 30 minutes. I complied, and he brought his client to the cable machine at the opposite end, leaving 4 cable machines open (and all of them are in are in the personal training turf). Within 5 minutes as I walked to the cardio section, 6 other people, none with a trainer, began using the cable machines, and the trainer made no effort to divert them.
Are flawed rules selectively enforced, which members could avoid at other more affordable local options? Regret certainly crossed my mind.

Went as a guest to check out this relatively new gym. Lots of equipment spaced out in large, air conditioned gym. Nicely laid out so one can move thru areas-cardio, weight machines & free waits, aerobics, cycling, padded stretching areas. Expected to be working out amongst beautiful & fit but was happy to find fellow folks who just want to get healthier as they gracefully age 😀 . Place was clean and maintained. Wish list for me would be a few more sanitary wipes & refuse stations, a shelf in shower stalls (for one's preferred shampoo, conditioner, gels) and maybe ice stations. Plenty of free parking (I'm a city gal, LOL) & pleasant staff (2 thumbs up to the gal who was vacuuming the women's locker room with her 'ghostbuster' vacuum backpack, she made me day & was soo 😀 happy, which is rare to find these days).
