I am at my wits end with this company. The local management is great, but that it. Whether it be the useless WiFi at various locations or the complete lack of equipment upkeep to area managers completely ignoring emails from members asking about repairs they simply don’t care. I joined hoping they were better than another national chain, but to my dismay, they are not much better. I am currently in the process of looking for an alternative in my area.

Terrible experience! Dont come here. Super dirty and half the machines don’t work. Front desk is super rude most of the time and will pay you no attention while they’re hanging out , I will say the blonde girl is nice. There’s a small Mexican dude with Jerry curls, I cant remember his name but it starts with a J. I show up with a photo of my QR code (which works every time) then the little guy tells me I can’t get in without my physical card as he’s showing my face popping up on his computer screen with all the information. My friend then asks can you just look us up and his response was “ I can’t do shit bro” as he started fidgeting around nervously. So I had to drive back home and waste gas because the little guy was in a bad mood. But anyways, any company that’ll hire a little clown like him must be desperate. I’d suggest people skip this gym…

If you are looking for a gym that has 3/4 of the cardio equipment "scheduled for service" for months then this is the right place. It used to be a nice gym and as it has aged they clearly decided that it wasn't worth updating or repairing equipment and when something finally breaks they just throw a paper sighn on it for months. Many of which have been over 3 months and still not fixed. Extremely frustrating

I would give less than 1Star if I could, the management is that bad.
I took a friend in to sign up for a membership and the staff sat behind their desks on their fat assess like they were too busy, only to tell us we need an appointment. Really?

I have Ehler Danlos. I had signed up for training and the instructor kept pushing me to do higher impact workouts even if I insisted in telling her I couldn’t, and yet she yelled at me, so I tried harder. This caused my knee to give way and I ended up with a total tear of me acl, a rupture in my meniscus and a fracture in my femur. They didn’t even bother in calling an ambulance and my sister had to take me the hospital. I had a surgery, and recovery lasted a full year. They brushed off any claims I made, saying that they were not responsible. Even after multiple calls for cancellation of membership, they continued to bill me for membership and training. I cancelled my credit card, but since it was a subscription, the bank kept automatically authorizing them. I called far too many times to have them cancel my membership but they kept charging. It wasn’t until I threatened them with a lawsuit that they stopped billing, but there was no reimbursement. Save yourself some grief. This place is a no no..

This gym is decent! I do enjoy it so far. Unfortunately, I have to agree with some other reviews on cleanliness and the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. We LOVE the option for childcare, but I don’t think sanitizing regularly is a thing here and with children all from different families?! That’s a MUST in my book. Even a sign at the door stating “please do not bring sick children” would be great because I’m sorry… some people just don’t care and will. With serious illness going around like RSV and Covid, I’d be hyper-vigilant in this arena. I also notice A LOT of people working out who don’t clean up after themselves. Ew. Your bodily fluids are yours…. Please be respectful… I have two gym memberships rn. One with 24 hour and the cleanliness there is superior. The difference for me is $30/mo (sports city more expensive because 24 hour allows annual memberships to save money making my “monthly” about $20/mo).
Another thing that just came up that isn’t a deal breaker, but also sucks is the amount of machines. I find myself having to stand around in my circuit because they only have one machine per style. Or they’ll have something similar on the other side of the gym. Not intuitive at all.
In conclusion, decent gym! Definitely lots of amenities to fit your fitness levels and I’ve always found the staff pleasant.

i am just rating the pool since i don’t use the gym area. The pool is most of the time freezing cold and it seems that either they don’t care about it or there’s something wrong with the thermostat, so swimming or exercising there is torture. At this point i am trying to find another pool in the area that has a more emphatic view of people using the pool.

I don't know who hires the front desk staff but they're very unprofessional, no manner's & not trained properly.
I came in with my son & wasn't greeted nicely! I think their name was Gabriel it was a very unwelcoming greeting. This gym needs a major overhaul from staff to how they can keep up with maintenance!
I really don't know who's in charge of all this but hire people that want to work not just sit around & chat with their friends as if the front is a hangout. Seriously City sports step your game up.

Love getting here for my 6am workout and the gym is closed even though they’re supposed to be open 5am. Has happened multiple times. Other than the morning staff they are almost always too busy talking amongst themselves or on their phones to even acknowledge your existence when checking in. The staff that I do see workout there don’t even set the example and wipe down the equipment they use when working out. If I could give this place 0/5 stars I would.

Is 0 out of 5 possible? When it comes to the staff and management, they are absolutely horrible. My daugther was injured there while at the daycare. What a fiasco the handling of the situation was. Not only they were understaffed but they also did not provide medical care to her. It was only later that my wife found out when she saw my daugther sitting at a table crying out of pain. The worse part is that not once did the corporate office called back with proper follow up.
My only contact was the operation manager who seems to have no idea about steps to be taken. After several attemps to talk to corporate I filed a complaint with the BBB out of principle, and thats when their true colors came out as they tried to change the narrative, lied about everything, made up stories so they would not be liable, but worse is the district manager who called soon after and attempted to display classless behavior, arrogance, and border line impolite manners. I quickly put her back in her place as that nonsense does not fly with me. And the lies continued, lying about my daugther injury and claiming they tried to reimburse me for a payment I never asked for. They still do not understand that in conflict resolution its about how you treat your client and how you address certain situations, are you sincere and professional or are you just clueless, classless, and dispicable.

Came in to cancel my membership on September 30th, 2022 and was told they would "make a note of it" because nobody who could cancel it was there at the time. I just noticed I was still getting charged for it, 6 months later. My own fault for not inspecting my statements closely. However, I called this morning and they say there's no such note or request, so I've had to dispute these charges. If you are canceling your membership here, GET IT IN WRITING. Accept nothing less.

The young female manager is really rude. Update. Unrelated to that This gym is a rip off. They closed for covid and still charged and never paid back. Then they reopened all of a sudden unannounced and started charging when I had already moved away. I lost the thousands of dollars personal training hours I paid for when I lost my card and couldn't contact them from Malaysia and whike they called to update the cars for the membership they didn't do that with the trainer so all my credits were defaulted.

City Sports Club in Petaluma is a great gym. Lots of equipment. I have seen reviews that it is not very clean. I think they have changed that. It’s also up to us as members to clean up after ourselves.
Trent and Nicco (sp) are at the front desk and they are so friendly. You can walk in there dreading having to work out on a day and when they say good morning and have a good workout you end up with a smile on your face and get up on that treadmill and get going.
My personal trainer is Daniel. He is the best. He knows what he is doing never pushes me so that I can’t move the next day. He’s very knowledgeable and I adore him.
Everyone I have met are very friendly nice and funny.
I really enjoy my time there. I have not used the pool or sauna so I cannot comment on them.
Try it out again I think you will have a different experience.

Gym is very dirty and none of the staff members care to clean. From what I've seen, it appears they rely on only one janitor to maintain everything. Management is known to be disrespectful and appears to have no care for the front desk workers who seem to be doing the majority of the work within the gym. I've also happened to notice a lot of staff, specifically those at the front desk, who come and go (fired or quit), which makes me wonder how they're treated by those working above them. Overall, it appears there is a lack of stability within those working at the gym and the effects of this are evident due to the lack of cleanliness and poor management. Also murky pool water and the hot tub doesn't work half the time. In my opinion, not worth the money. If you're looking for gyms in the area, I'd highly suggest others such as Anytime Fitness or Sonoma Fit, much better service, better rates, and definitely cleaner!!

This gym is great because it has a variety of equipment, a basketball court, and pool. I believe they are short staffed because there facilities are not cleaned regularly. The pool needs to be checked. The floors of the locker rooms need to be washed. I have found hair in multiple drains. It is a big facility but everything in there needs to be sanitized by the staff that closes at night and or opens.

Large facility with excellent variety of equipment. Sadly ownership must not prioritize or does not know how to maintain it. Worn out leather pads on machines, cable machine attachments falling apart, missing carabiners, ect are abundant. The locker room was very dirty. I travel extensively and have been to gyms across the county, and I have to say this gym had one of the dirtiest shower areas I’ve ever seen. It seemed like no staff members were picking up/sweeping up, restocking cleaning supplies, reracking weights, ect during the day. Which is confusing considering how many staff members were hanging out and sitting at computers— I suppose they’re salespeople and exempt from doing any work on the gym floor. Also many members were not wearing masks— again staff chose not to address these folks as they walked right in front of them. I would have given this gym 1 star if it weren’t for the sheer volume of equipment available. Management needs to do some serious work on facility maintenance and handling customers that violate mask mandates.

It's time for a deep vacuuming and carpet cleaning around the equipment in all areas. It appears that only a few people clean the equipment with the supplied disinfectant after use. This is really noticeable in the weight areas. On a positive note, everyone seems to adhere to the mask rules which is appreciated.

This sport's club does not enforce the county mask mandate. Their employees don't respect it, constantly wearing their masks improperly or not at all. When asked to conduct mask checks they drag their feet or don't do it at all, unless you stand by the front desk. One of their managers, Peyton, was completely maskless at the front desk as I asked her to do a simple mask check. She was then rude to me for asking if she would also wear a mask. I am deeply saddened by the blatant disrespect the employees and patrons show in regards to the mask mandate. My husband has been physically threatened for asking patrons to wear their masks after managements disregard to the county rules. Also it is dirty and the equipment is constantly broken.

I love working out there. They have tons of equipment. They have both lots of weights and lots of cardio equipment. I also love that the space is large. The employees are fairly nice. They have a smoothie/juice bar, however it is rarely open when I’m there. I go in the mornings around 7 am. When I have been there on a weekend and it was open I did try the smoothies. They were good just very expensive. A small smoothie for $6.00. The reason I only give City Sports a 3 star review is they lack in cleanliness. The locker rooms are terrible. They can’t seem to keep a janitor. My guess is they don’t pay enough for the workload. They have a dry sauna in each locker room, a shared jacuzzi and pool. Many people don’t even bother using the locker rooms because they are so bad.

I’ve got a series on Yelp explaining it all from the beginning. This is what occurred when I got lied to and stonewalled by some low level manager with a massive power complex. Here’s what I posted on Yelp:
This place has the absolute worst customer service- specifically from Tyler G. - some tiny little prick with a massive power trip who literally refused repeatedly to give me the name and number of his superior. Guess what? Apparently he doesn’t have one so if you have a customer service complaint, he won’t do ANYTHING to make the situation right ***because he doesn’t have to****. What is a customer supposed to do with being absolutely stonewalled like that?!?! He said to me repeatedly that while he does have a district manager (I had to ask at least 10 times before he’d even admit that he wasn’t THE guy running the entire company) she doesn’t have a phone?!?! A DM without a phone? Unheard of! Then guess what? I keep pushing so he finally admits that there IS a number for her but he doesn’t want to call and keeps pointing at his monitor saying, “see? She’s not online!” Finally he supposedly calls her (who knows?) and says she didn’t answer. I got him to give me her email address (funny how none of this was offered the first time I asked to escalate over him) so I’ll be following up with her and I’ll keep going up the chain until I speak to someone who doesn’t appreciate their customer service manager not only not doing right by the customer but also being the cause for these two members to quit this gym.two memCity Sports as a company should be ashamed and embarrassed!

First of all, @Andrew, this is a freaking GYM, not a sports bar. If you come to the gym to watch TV, then you're doing something wrong. Not to mention there are little TVs attached to every treadmill, bike and elliptical on the second floor with a wide array of channels. Reported.
@Brenden, do not post a review of a place you haven't been to because of something someone else told you. That's unfair and biased. Why don't you just ask her to write a review? Reported.
Okay, onto my actual review...
I saw the legitimate negative reviews, and from what it looks like, management took notice and did something about the cleanliness issues. In my six months here, I haven't noticed any mold in the pool area or the locker room. Overall the place is pretty clean.
The staff is friendly. In my experience they've been patient and helpful.
There are many options here for a good workout. A small-ish (3 lane) pool, an entire floor of cardio machines, tons of free weights, an entire room of spin bikes, a basketball court, plenty of resistance machines... if you're looking to change up your work out every day of the week, you could definitely do so here.
I pay $50/month for my membership that includes a free guest pass every time I come in, which I think is pretty reasonable! And they include a free session with a personal trainer, but that's pretty standard it seems. I've paid a lot more for a lot less at other gyms.
This is the best gym I've ever joined, hands-down. I like it here, and if you're looking for a a gym to join, I highly recommend their free trial, which is what sold me.

We left City Sports for a lot of reasons. The mold in the locker rooms and pool area was excessive and never seemed to be important enough for management to care for, ants were frequently crawling all over the mats, and customer service was almost non-existent .
We finally decided to quit and get a membership at another gym. We closed our account and moved on with life. Turns out they just froze our account, but told me it was closed. They continued to take money from our checking account and when I called them about it, the Operations Manager, Tyler accused me of lying and informed me I was wrong. He offered no help in fixing the situation and I had to spend the next 45 minutes on the phone with the corporate office to get anyone to listen to me.
Overall, I am pretty disappointed with my experience.

Good gym. Nice people. Great equipment. Clean. Go in off peak times and it is all yours! I've been a member of many clubs in many cities. Would be nice to have an indoor track. But, N. Bay area clubs don't. All clubs including in San Diego have indoor tracks. Great for heat waves and cold rainy days plus better on the knees & joints . But, none in Marin or Sonoma. City Sports is a good little gym. It has a nice indoor pool too.

Excellent gym. All the equipment is brand new. They have a bunch of cardio type classes if you are interested.

In Petaluma they have stopped showing local Giants or Warriors games. Don't know if it's because Comcast Sports won't provide the shows or what. Can't get a straight answer from them. Will probably change clubs if they don't straighten this out.
