Very scummy enrollment practices. Unless you intend on working out here for a long while, be sure to check your contract. It is a 6-month term contract (and of course they tell you to enroll online so they don’t have to tell you that) and even when you explain California contract law to them, they act stupid

Not great and very difficult to cancel membership. Only positive is the large but dirty-feeling free weights section. Upon joining I was told I could access the spin bike room anytime there wasn’t a class, that was a lie and I was not able to ever access the spin bike room. Go to Kennedy club for the same price, they have pools, a hot tub, steam rooms and larger, cleaner facilities.

If your business is based on not letting people stop their membership as a method of being successful, it is a failed business model. It continues because members are mostly young students who will be replaced by new students next year. The hoops you have to jump through to cancel (and PAY to cancel) is ridiculous. Sad they have to trick people to stay.

Before you read this let me start by saying I am a college student living in SLO, and this is my first and only time I have ever and probably will feel the need to write a google review. This is just a brief summary of the things I noticed over the last year in which I’ve been a member at club24. When signing up you are unable to view the facility until after purchasing your membership. I was told there wasn’t enough staff in the building to show me around, however when I chose to buy the membership as I really needed a gym, they suddenly were able to give me the tour I had just asked for. I have been with this gym for about a year now and have been hit with over 6 random 25$ charges that the front desk will claim they cannot help you with and will give you a little help card that does little to nothing. Along with there being little to no ventilation throughout the gym as a whole meaning it’s hot all the time, majority of the machines are crooked and you will have to manipulate your body in order to use them properly. When canceling you will be asked to pay a full months pay along with an additional 30$ cancelation fee. The management and customer service program they have in place is pretty nonexistent, there’s an actual reason this club has a 3/5 stars rating as it’s average. Almost no other gym has that, take a look online if you don’t believe me. Best of luck to all , hope I can save some the time I wasted learning all of this.

This facility has good space and good equipment, however the contract, contract renewal, misinformation and fee structure actually violates several California Consumer laws. Whoever is running this place is literally asking to be sued. I received NO notification in any form that my 8 month contract had been renewed, I only found out because my credit card flagged the transaction. I will be contacting the BBB and my lawyer. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. They are fraudsters.

I went to visit this gym & was very disappointed with the staff. I wanted to see what kind of weight equipment they offered. The staff member said she was the only one working. She couldn't even give me the time to really look at weight equipment. That right there turn me off as a potential client. Before you make a investment in something you should always be able to look at it , whatever it is. I also don't like the idea you can't have a free pass for even one day , without paying $25.00 for it . What a shame to run a business like this. I hope the owner or manager would respond to my concerns .I've been working out for many years & I have knowledge of alot of different equipment. Before you join this gym , asked yourself why do I have to pay for even one day pass ?

If you like shady corporate gym contracts and horrible customer service then this is the place for you. Signed up for an 8 month period and was conveniently not told that my account would automatically renew itself at the end of 8 months. Proceeded to have my account charged for the next year and didn’t receive a single email or document informing me that I had renewed my membership and was still paying. They gladly took my money and never mentioned once that my account was set up to automatically renew.

Decent facility, I went to this gym for 4 years and my partner went here for 10. Still, I recommend avoiding this gym at all costs. They use a one star, third party payment processing software that makes it nearly impossible to cancel a membership, and they will continue to STEAL your money after you have properly gone through every required step to cancel. And no, I’m not talking about their “club enhancement fee” (despite not seeing a single update during my four years there). I’m referring to their third party continuing to charge my membership fee for several months despite several verifications of cancellation. If you look at Club24’s reviews on google or Yelp, you will see dozens of reviews stating the same thing. Yet when you bring up these valid concerns to the Club 24 staff or Sanaz, they brush you off and blame it on the third party system. Why on earth a business would continue using a third party system that is giving them a horrible name is beyond me, unless of course they are in on the scamming and theft (of course they are). Legal action has been threatened multiple times by others in the community, yet they still use this third party system? No respectable business owner would tolerate that. All that said, take your business elsewhere, where your hard earned money won’t be stolen, and your concerns won’t be blamed on another company. Go to a business who takes accountability for their mistakes, and makes them right.

You're only ALLOWED to cancel your membership under certain conditions. Regardless they still charge a cancellation fee and a one month's notice. The management doesn't care about the people that go to their gym nor are they understanding about hardships. If you can't pay they'll just keep charging month after month. I do not recommend this gym at all.
I honestly didn't think that I would ever have to cancel but I did. I would recommend going to another gym that has a lighter cancellation policy.

Not worth the cost. $65, and they don’t even have straight fixed barbells and other basic equipment. Nor apparently do they have enough employees to restock the cleaning supplies, especially in the evenings. The ventilation is horrible, so if you go on a crowded day, it’s not pleasant. The mats are also uneven, I’ve seen tape on there for quite some time so I am assuming they’ll fix it one day. Also, wanna invite a friend? Costs $20 for a day pass. Wanna take a tour before you sign up? No, you can’t. They are using the pandemic as being the reason why you can’t get a tour. I really don’t understand why they are charging so much for providing us the bare minimum. Even referring people to the gym doesn’t get you any discount. The only reason I go there is because of the location. Even the hours are inconvenient since they close so early on weekends. Please someone open another gym in this area!!

This is the worst gym i have ever stepped foot in they literally cheated me out of my money and told me i couldnt even get a tour of the gym unless i signed up for a memebership. I told the staff lady if i sign up i only want it for one month because i dont know if id like it and i dont want any long term obligations she said okay and then why 3 months later im getting emails saying i owe $74 dollars every month for the next 9 months ????? I called they wont get me in contact with a manager, i go up there they say the manager isnt there, and theyre emailing me documents of membership signatures that ARENT EVEN MINE!! DO NOT GET A MEMEBERSHIP FROM HERE! They are such bad business and if they make a mistakes they try to make you pay for their mistakes. I should have never stepped foot in this place 😡

Edit: would change to a 3 star not because of the gym but the amount of creeps there. It’s very hard to feel comfortable. The staff is downstairs which creates this separation and leaves gym goers on their own upstairs. Would like some staff members present upstairs to keep the creepers out or so they don’t openly creep. Also wipes that contain alcohol to really sterilize, and the hand sanitizer has been empty for 2 years.

The gym itself is fine... pretty typical, good equipment and friendly staff. However the billing/membership is set up through a third party and is a total pain! The process to cancel was kind of ridiculous, which I wish I would have known when I signed up- not being able to communicate payments/membership with the actual club is a no go for me.

It’s an OK gym. My biggest complaint is their lack of transparency about the random hidden fees. I was lied to on the phone about the structure of their memberships just to get me through the door.

They easily sign you up and take your money but good luck trying to cancel or modify your account.

My advice: Sign on if you never plan to leave and have lots of money to throw at them.

Update: took off another star. They froze my account without my consent to extend my contract through the COVID crisis. My options are paying another four months or pay their cancellation fee. Even in the wake of a pandemic, they will find ways rip you off.

Im filing with the BBB. This place is ridiculous.

Incredibly clean. Great variety of equipment. Never busy, even during peak times (if you’ve been to an Equinox at 6pm, trust that you’ll never have that experience here). Spin classes and CrossFit studios available with pretty regular classes. Facility is split over two levels: downstairs are locker rooms (bring your own lock) with showers, separate two-story CrossFit studio, and a large studio with squat racks and kickboxing bags; upstairs is an open floor with cardio equipment including treadmills, elliptical as, and stair machines (all facing TVs), free weights and benches, and a ton of equipment (yes, even for legs!). Bring your own towel. Friendly staff and plenty of parking, with cafes and markets within 10-50 feet of the entrance, though try an açaí bowl at the bar downstairs. Have been a member for nearly 3 years and I’m so grateful a facility like this exists in “small town” San Luis Obispo. My only wish is that you could scan your membership barcode with an iPhone app instead of a physical tag, but that’s an incredibly minor caveat.

Seriously stay away from this place, their cancellation fee is insane. Overpriced for what they offer. Most difficult membership cancelling experience ever. Make sure you read all the fine print on the contract and take pictures of it so you don't get ripped off. There are a lot of random fees and they will steal your money without blinking. Other gyms in SLO are cheaper and offer more ie Kennedy and Cal Poly

Tried out the spin class and revisited gym amenities with some friends today.

About 10 years ago I was a member of the gym, and it seemed like a couple amenities and simple layout options got worse, but could just be my memory! It was very challenging to find a water fountain even with people directing to go upstairs couldn't locate and gave up and filled waterbottle in the bathroom. Could also not find towels or towel drop; the spin instructor gave out a few but they were more like dish rags than towels and still couldn't find where to leave it after. Staff was all very friendly and engaging, but those little things for a new person at the gym we're frustrating.

The spin room is pretty small but efficient and everyone was high energy. Bikes do have clip pedal options and are all adjustable. The Instructor didn't have a mic so was a little hard to understand over the music, but I was able to follow along for a pretty intense butt-kicking workout. Lots of focus on core and sprints, not as much focus feeling the beat and rythm amd balance as I've experienced in other classes.

After the workout I tried a smoothie from the Acai Project attached to the gym, also saw their acai bowls that looked great. I ordered the protein smoothie that had great flavor but was a little sweet. I was hoping to find out nutrition and calorie information but hasn't been easily accessible to find and isn't listed on their website yet.

Not a bad gym option for consistent class offerings, lots of weights and machines upstairs, and of course flexible hours always great.

I really would love to give this gym 5 stars but I just can’t. Well long story short I decided to cancel my membership because I just wasn’t going consistently. When I signed up I asked about any fees. I was told there was a 1x a year maintenence fee which I get. Well I called to cancel and was told not only do I have to pay the $50 a month (because you need a written 30 day notice to cancel) I had to pay a freakin $30 cancellation fee! I have no idea why I would have to pay a fee to cancel when my required membership was 6 months and it was past that! I do not feel like that was properly communicated at alllll. I contemplated keeping my membership for the classes but after that there is no way I will go back there. Huge bummer as the gym and equipment are pretty nice!

I called Club 24 today 8/13 1:30pm) and I asked if I could buy a membership so that I could come and take showers for a couple of days. My Father is in Hospice and I've been staying with him 24 hours a day. I asked if I could buy day passes. The girl on the phone told me that I could NOT do that because I wasn't going to work out...couldn't make this up if I tried! I asked if they offered a monthly pass (even though my Father might not make it through the night). She told me that it was $99.00, but that she would "get in trouble" for selling me one because I wasn't going to work out. I asked to speak to a Manager and she put me on hold until I finally hung up. This is THE WORST BUSINESS that I have ever encountered. Hopefully this review is read BEFORE you spend a dime at this facility. This is absolutely unconscionable.

Terrible customer service

My 86- year-old Dad moved to SLO and joined. He was told, after paying his enrollment and first months fees that a trainer would call to set up an initial visit. While he was eager to get started, it took 10 days, which he was paying for, before he got a call from the trainer. Because the facility was being remodeled, there were now locker rooms, or lockers available and he had to change in the bathroom, but no discount was offered on his membership. After five weeks, he decided this wasn’t going to work for him, and said he wanted to quit. Despite the fact that he had a month-to-month membership, which did not have a termination fee, he was charged a termination fee of $125.00 what a colossal rip off.

I read the negative customer service reviews and just called to give them the benefit of the doubt. I am an executive here on business, and lift in local gyms eveywhere I go. I called to ask details about working out in the morning, and was told visitors can only workout from 9am - 9pm by "Megan". When I shared I would need to workout earlier she shared its policy and apologized. When I asked to speak with a manager she shared they had all gone home. This is definitely a poorly managed operation, that is not interested in earning money, new / return business, or postive feed back. If a gym is this ignorant in their business practices I wouldn't step foot in the door to jump rope - which of course probably has some rediculous stipulation. I'll take my business elsewhere, and direct all of my colleagues and others to a professionally ran gym with realistic hours for all.

As others have said, the enrollment fee is excessive at $130, plus the "equipment upgrade fee" in November for another $30. I went to the gym for a few months. The air was stuffy and hot - it is a gym, but it seemed excessive. About half the treadmills and bikes were either broken or too clunky to operate. After going in to cancel my membership, I was told I would be charged for the current month ($42), an additional month ($42), plus the equipment upgrade fee for next year ($30).

Fees are excessive to both join and cancel, no ventilation, and equipment was sub par.

My husband went a lot at first and then found it difficult in his schedule to go to the gym. He hand;t been for months when we decided to cancel the membership- plus we had moved to the other side of town. Not only did we have to pay the yearly maintenance fee, but we didn't time it right with the billing cycles so we are being charged another month. I repeat, he hasn't been in quite some time.
To maintain good customer service as a locally owned company it would behoove the managers to allow a hard working family to cancel membership in a more compassionate, user friendly way. Less money tp send on our kids at Christmas. Did they find any heart to help us out? No. Would not recommend.
What is the deal with gyms?
