Jan is a great instructor. She has lots of patience, especially with the older folks like me. She’s always checking to make sure people are doing their stretches correct she’s the best.

Strict on grip socks policy, the set of exerciser here is not even challenging and required you to stand on the reformer. It is more like a self preference than a set rules. Been to other policy that require grip socks but if I don’t feel comfortable I can always take it off. It is not the case here! When I leave the class the reception even came up to me infront of other students saying I don’t follow policy. Because the instructor told her about it. I feel embrassed and it is not professional! The exercise here is like easy and I don’t feel like it has any differences. Poor experience

Came in while recovering from a back injury. Elysia would check in on me periodically throughout the class and give me tips on how to adjust my body positions to help relieve pressure off my back. Thank you Elysia!

Really enjoyed my intro class today with Vanessa.
I have done Pilates before and in the 1/2 hour complimentary class she covered the excercises completely. Looking forward to continuing with Pilates at this San Mateo location!

My husband and I were loyal members of this studio and generally enjoyed the classes — until a recent disappointing experience with Mila, the assistant manager, which led us to cancel our memberships.
We arrived 10 minutes late to a class — the first and only time we’ve ever been late — and were denied entry. While we understand that there are policies in place, we’ve seen other clients arrive later and still be allowed in. The inconsistency aside, what stood out most was Mila’s complete lack of flexibility or care. Her tone was dismissive and unprofessional, with no effort to understand or resolve the situation with empathy.
As paying clients who’ve always respected the studio’s rules, we expected to be treated with basic courtesy. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and disregarded.
Please Think Twice Before Joining This Studio!

It’s really surprising to see such a low rating for this studio. I’ve been coming here for the past month and I think I’ve met almost all the front desk staff and instructors — everyone’s been super nice! The instructors are professional, the prices are fair, and the studio’s policies are honest and transparent. The place is always clean and well-kept too, which I really appreciate. I genuinely love this place!

I enjoyed finding out what Pilates is, but was frustrated about the delivery (demonstrations and explanations). The instructor (I didn’t understand her name when she introduced herself) was trying to fit in a lot of info in just 25 minutes, but she was very difficult to understand because she had a thick accent and spoke way too quickly! Plus, the room has an echo, and the background music was playing so loud that it often drowned her out. She had to repeatedly come over to me and re-explain the instructions, because I hadn’t heard them clearly the first or second time. The presentation was so rushed that I didn’t really retain any of the information! Also, the financial presentation was so rushed that I felt that I needed to step away and review the hand-out brochures before I was able to make any decisions about whether to become a member. I still have not made a decision about joining. Perhaps, I should go to another demo class at a different location so that I can have another chance to hear, absorb, and retain all the information that was presented!

Truly enjoy each class with one exception. The instructor has difficulty with ESL. Other instructors are high energy and clear in their communications with clients and those who struggle. Clean and amazing customer service! Highly recommend giving it a try ☺️

Made the mistake of not doing my research before signing up for a membership. I deeply regret it and do not suggest going to this studio - try ANYWHERE else!
Everything mentioned below by other reviewers is extremely accurate.
After having a positive experience with Eva, who led the required intro class, I decided to give the studio a try.
After my first flow 1 class, I immediately expressed to the instructor and front desk associate that the class was extremely easy for me and sought advice for something harder. They suggested the 1.5 class.
I took that class and was slightly more challenged but not at all what I expected.
I had only completed two classes and knew that this was not going to work as the studio primarily has level 1 classes and the times I preferred were all level 1 classes.
I called to discuss cancellation options with an associate twice. The first call, the women let me know management would call me back that day and since they never did, I had to call again the next day to follow up. I expressed the above and let her know my dissatisfaction. I said it was misleading in the intro class and if the studio was not going to offer level 2 classes in the near future, I don’t think this is the right place for me.
I received a call back today from Mila, the assistant manager, who I then had to repeat everything to. She mentioned the idea of doing privates (that cost hundredth of dollars more) or go to their sister studio in Daly City that also ONLY OFFERS LEVEL 1 & 1.5 classes! I found the conversation beyond frustrating now with it being my 3rd time having it.
It escalated and I told her I felt it was no longer productive and she yelled back stating she only had to call me because I made her associate feel “uncomfortable”. I couldn’t believe what was coming out of her mouth. I excused myself from the call and will be proceeding with immediate cancellation that cost me hundreds of dollars but I’m sharing this so that you can be aware and do not make the same mistake I did!!!
Unprofessional, misleading, poor customer service.
If you’re going to pay for workout classes, I do not suggest club Pilates.

10/10 experience. I was so scared to start working out after years of inactivity but Pilates has been amazing at club Pilates. The instructors are helpful and take the time during class to show you how to do everything correctly. I really appreciate it as somebody who struggles to work out. Eva has been an amazing instructor!! All of the instructors have been great but Eva has really taken the time to help me understand how to do things properly and how to get the most out of my class. I’m excited to go to my classes!

Tanya is one of THE best Pilates instructors EVER. Precise with her verbal instructions she makes sure each attendee is doing the moves properly by constantly going around the room and helping everyone with achieving proper techniques. She’s always very friendly and makes you feel welcome and happy to be there. A++

I’m a beginner and so far have had great experiences with both instructors I’ve taken classes with . I think* my first class was with Peggy. She is very friendly, energetic, and helpful. The class I joined was full of regulars and I appreciated that she helped me when she saw I was not as familiar with some exercises as everyone else. She also checked in with me at the end, it was a very positive experience :)
And equally, I enjoyed Elysias class! She was very helpful to the beginners in the class and I loved the routine . Both times I am sore the next day (in a good way !)

I usually book out 3 weeks in advance as the 1.5 level classes fill up quickly. Depending on when you attend classes, I would allow 10 mins to find street parking especially at noon and 6pm. B street does get busy but you can always park in the Caltrain, ground floor. The front desk is great and always take care of me.

The location of Club Pilates is new and clean, but my overall experience was disappointing. The classes are always booked out, making it difficult to attend, and there's not enough variety in the levels to challenge and grow. One instructor, in particular, had an unprofessional attitude. She would leave at the end of the class without saying anything, and just stand next to the front desk with a sour expression as we walked out.
Additionally, they continued to charge me even after I canceled my membership more than 30 days prior and received confirmation. When I called to inquire, the front desk girl simply stated that if the payment went through, it was supposed to, without even checking my name or profile. This level of unprofessionalism is disappointing.
I wouldn't recommend Club Pilates. There are plenty of other options in the area with better instructors, vibes, and pricing.

I used to go to the CP in Redwood City and I loved it. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. If you ever had feedback, you felt heard. Not the case with this location.
I waited over a year for this place to open. It was supposed to open November of 2023 but they didn’t open until the end of 2024. I love Pilates and moved to San Mateo so I was really looking forward to it finally opening. They went through an ownership change in the time before they opened so I’d hoped the people who took over knew what they were doing since they own a bunch of other locations. Unfortunately, they just can’t get it together so I canceled my membership after the mandatory three months. Questions about the parking situation were often met with rude or dismissive responses. Many of the instructors just kind of seemed bored when they were teaching the classes and didn’t listen when I explained I’d been doing Pilates for years and wanted to push myself or make modifications for injuries. It’s just not the same happy vibe the Redwood City location cultivated. I would pass.

I rarely post reviews but I think it’s important enough for folks to be aware of. Echoing a lot of sentiment from other reviews but communication is very poor at this studio and I’m still working to cancel my membership. Per the request of the spokesperson I chatted with to cancel my membership, I had to send an email to cancel even though I was already speaking to them on the phone. I have sent multiple emails with no response at this point and it’s cutting close to my renewal date. Highly recommend looking into other studios.

I had a great time here! Jan and Kerry were great and I loved going to Reformer flow and Cardio Sculpt classes. I didn’t have a problem scheduling my classes.
I only put 4 stars because of poor communication. You either don’t get a reply or would have to wait a long time (email) or no one ever answers the phone. But if you’re lucky and get to talk to someone, it was pretty easy. I had to cancel my membership because of a move and change of my availability. Cancelling my membership was very stressful though.

This studio is struggling - not enough staff (so class is canceled almost regularly); instructors are often late; the studio does not answer their phones (and their mailbox is full so you can not leave a message) or respond to emails. They do not offer any advance classes - level 1 or 1.5, which are both very beginner classes. They do not take into account your individual strength, so you will be working with weight/resistance that is minimal (level 1). It's like they don't want you to work hard, or challenge you. Lots of stretching, not a lot of hard work. Keep hoping things will improve but not yet. Would not recommend unless you are new to working out and just want something easy. Plus you have to pay for parking.

They tried to charge me 2 weeks before my monthly membership was due to be renewed. I lost my place in my usual Friday class because I “missed a payment” but it didn’t, they wanted to charge me on the 6th of the month when my payment had always been on the 17th. They are taking over 24 hours to respond to my emails. They finally got one today saying they gave me the credits back, but there are no credits to be found in my account and still can’t book more classes. I would just pay for them and then ask for my money to be refunded when I get the credits. But I have zero faith they would refund me. They would probably just say I now have extra credits I didn’t want. This is location is a literal joke. It’s really too bad, I really liked working with Kerry, hoping she teaches literally anywhere but a Club Pilates location. Also, really didn’t care for Alyssa, looks like she’s off the schedule but if not, don’t go, she was incredibly condescending. If you don’t like working with people new to Pilates, don’t teach a level 1 class (she wasn’t even condescending to me, but I don’t like hearing people condescending anyone else in any level class).

I had a bad experience before I was able to even try a free class. The first time, someone failed to put my name down and I wasn't even on the list despite multiple text reminders for the class. The second time it was rescheduled, the girl confirmed over the phone class would be at 11:30 am and I received reminder texts that said 11:30am. Upon arrival, I was told class was at 11am and the lady at the front desk had a complete disregard that I made my schedule with the class in mind and she was the manager! Though she acknowledged it was an error on their part, she tried to blame problems on previous ownership and said she wasn't the one who sent out the text. Confusing to find, limited parking, Poor customer service, poorly run and disorganized business. In the end, I didn't even care to reschedule a 3rd trial class. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere at a different club Pilates location like San Carlos or another Pilates studio together.
